My brute currently runs at 53.5% S/L def (I want some spare as my DDR ain't great), fractionally below the softcap to the others in granite, with 84% S/L res or 49% S/L def and 44.8% psi def out of it.

Add to that 3 +5% run speed and 3 +7.5%, and +50% global recharge from sets plus the spiritual alpha slot, I reckon the toon is much more functional than what you've posted, particularly as I don't have KB sets in my main attacks, so I won't have to chase stuff across the map when my KD becomes KB and will do a lot more damage.

I have 2 stone tanks and 2 stone brutes at 50, the first getting there in Jan 05 so I've played the set a lot.
Mileage varies for everyone, build your toons as you choose and I'll do the same, thanks.
  2. When the great forum migration occurred, it messed up the code in the builds that were posted, hence all the emoticons. Also the builds are prototype/blueprint designs, feel free to modify them to your preference. Newer designs were long ago created but lack of time and motivation precluded an updated guide.

Now that ish 19 is out, the builds have again been modified for my stone armor alts to use.

As to them being dysfunctional....."rechecks my stone armor alts and notes they have at least three of the Mo badges....rechecks the vid files created of them easily plowing through the Alpha slot unlock arc.....rechecks vid files of them easily handling +3/8 mobs....".....yep, real dysfunctional

Yep, been a long time since I watched that movie. I think that was also Robbie the Robot's first appearance too.

Not sure I agree about where Lucas' head is , but yeah if Kershner had directed any of the prequels that would have automatically improved them.

Yeah, he's one of the few that can make me laugh. Time to put Airplane and the Naked Gun movies next to the Three Stooges DVD's in my library now.

I regard Empire was the best of the six in terms of story and direction. Ep 4 is next since it was the first, then Ep 3 despite its flaws since it had the epic fight with Anakin and Obi as well as giving us the Wookie army that Lucas couldn't give back in the day with ROTJ. ROTJ comes next, then Ep 1 and 2 are tied at the bottom.

But yeah....I can imagine how'd they be if he had directed them all...

    RIP Irvin...
Yeah, oddly enough I was watching it the other day too. Sad day today.
  9. A funny actor with a serious side at times. Excellent with the deadpan humor and play on words. Some of his later movies were a bit weak but the blame isn't with him as he worked with what he had.

    R.I.P. Leslie !

    This.

I was half expecting to get a special tip mish for beating Snaptooth that would lead to a new winter mish that offered 5 new badges. Glad there isn't such a thing, yet.

    Bring on the incarnates!

Thanks! Glad to know that extra TP units aren't needed.....unless they can link bases to both red and blue zones.....
  12. If you notice at the beginning of Superman/Batman Apocalypse the news makes comments about Superman giving testimony for the impeachment of President Luthor as well as mention of the giant Kryptonite meteor so Apocalypse is a sequel to Superman/Batman Public Enemies. However, Apocalypse, Public Enemies, Under the Red Hood, GL first flight, are not part of DCAU but are in their own universe.

JL: Crisis on Two Earths from what I've read was initially meant to be a story that bridges the gap between JL and JLU but wasn't made at the time due to the powers that be. However you can still see enough references in it to things we would see in JLU such as the expanded satelite base, the teleporter, how WW got the invisible jet, Batman's comment on how they barely have the ability to guard their own Earth, etc.

Cool. Can't see needing a beacon to the Abandoned Sewers except for the Trial.

So, if this has been asked already oh well, but can anyone confirm whether or not getting all eight badges in the shard zones or the Abandoned Sewer grant a base TP beacon to that zone? Just curious if I need to rig some new TP units.

About the only time I've seen Superman beat the crap out of Batman in continuity is during the Sacrifice arc, in which Superman thinks he's fighting a member of his rogues gallery that rivals his abilities physically, so Superman was actually trying to kill him, and it was only Wonder Woman's intervention that saved Batman. Even still, Bruce was beat to hell and near death after that confrontation.
By all rights, one punch from Superman should kill Batman if Superman isn't holding back. Batman should have been dogmeat after that.

But I managed to find a cheap copy of the Making of Judge Dredd, and Stallone's hand was all over the process.

He couldn't get over the notion that the lead character's face was covered all the time, and thought there should be more humor in the script. And he ran roughshod over poor Danny Cannon, this being his first big-budget movie.

I lay the majority of the blame at Stallone's feet, and hopefully this film, being handled by Europeans last I read, will remember their source. Karl Urban is an oustanding choice.

    S.
Ok based on that, I can blame Stallone yes. But blame still falls to the director, producers, etc. who didn't stand up to Stallone and smack some sense into him.

Hm, I wonder if for grins, or perhaps groans, we will get a cameo of Rob Schneider or Stallone in this new one? Kind of hope we don't.

I've read them all and that movie was a pale ghost of what it could have been.

As to the helmet, call it a trademark of the character or a tradition or whatever, but he's supposed to be the faceless embodiment of justice per the creator. He's never been seen completely without it. There was a recent issue where he was sitting and fixing the damage to his radio but he was sitting in shadow so we only see his chin like always. There was another where he allowed someone to know what he looked like and took off his helmet for her, but the joke of the story was that she was blind and put her hands on his face and again all we saw was his nose and lower jaw due to her hands covering the rest of his face and head so again, his face wasn't revealed though she did mention some scars.

Kind of like how for years we never knew what Boba Fett looked like until the prequels revealed his father and that Boba is a clone of dear old daddy.

It's only when in discussions, about such things, that I'll say such things as, Batman can't beat such people as the Flash and Superman in a fight.

When it comes to the actual reading of comics, or watching their respective movies, the rule of cool takes over.
Batman's combat abilities and prowess have been perhaps a bit....overamped....since Frank Miller wrote Dark Knight Returns where at the end Batman does defeat Superman. Of course Bruce had a few things in his favor.

    1. He told Clark where to meet him for the final showdown, Crime Alley. Bruce's turf that he has long since scoped out and has rigged for the fight.

    2. Superman had just taken a nuclear blast and was extremely weakened, plus there was a nuclear winter in effect hence he's cut off from the sun and thus at a lower then normal power.

    3. Bruce rigged a barrage of missiles set to go off when Superman used his x-ray vision and the missiles gave him a tough time due to his low power.

    4. Bruce wore an exo suit of armor that was charged up by the entire power grid of the city. He channels some of that into Superman, hurting him even more due to his low power level and then uses the rest of the energy to charge the suit's strength boosters and proceeds to pound Superman.

    5. Bruce had Green Arrow hiding in the shadows with an arrow of kryptonite, which poisoned Superman even more.

Though Bruce faked his death at the end of that fight, he still won against Superman.

It boils down to this: with enough prep time and gadgets at his disposal, there are few foes that Batman cannot defeat. Had Superman been closer to his normal power levels, and been more ruthless in that fight, the Bruce would have been owned. But Bruce knows that Superman doesn't fight that way so that was yet another advantage to Bruce.

And likewise a lot of things look like they are more damaging than they would be to a person because a lot of people aren't trained in how to take a blow. That's why if you take 2 equally strong people, 1 trained and 1 untrained, the untrained can be taken out with a punch that would hardly phase the trained one.

That is not to say however, like pointed out above a person hitting concrete could every break it... The area size of a human body precludes it from hitting concrete at any force without dieing and breaking the concrete...And i mean the whole body. Obviously a punch can break concrete. Less area, more pressure per square inch so it's possible with a fist. with a body we know a terminal velocity human will just splatter the ground and not even make a dent.

Could Batman do it though? I don't know the specs but there is credibility to the ability to do it. See the way the bat suit's armor works is that the ceramics cause the energy of a bullet to spread out and thus do less or no damage to the wearer. How effective it is in dissipate the energy that would be enough to break concrete is clearly outside of our ceramic armor ability, but who knows, Batman might have more effective ceramics. Depending on how effective determines how many times he could have it happen. I would say in his normal gear Batman can't survive more than a single concrete breaking full body hit if that. But considering there are other energy field techs at his disposal, who knows.

He survives for one reason and one reason only.................HE's BATMAN! 'Nuff said!

    SHEPARD's TALE SPOILERS below

It starts off with his being mortally wounded in the Serenity movie and then we get assorted flashbacks of the main bullet points of his life.

He was kid named Henry Evans that ran away from home due to a drunk/abusive dad and became a street criminal and was topping the wanted charts of the fledgling alliance.

After nearly getting arrested he decides to join the resistance and years later he is a Browncoat heading to a meeting after beating up some alliance troops with ease. He offers to become a covert op for the Browncoats and a cyber eye is used to replace his left eye so that everything he sees/hears is beamed to the resistance. He is told to get a new identity by any means and sees a kid fresh off a space ship and kills him. His ID says he is Derrial Book and he takes that name.

He is shown being drummed out of the alliance for planning an operation that was totally routed by the Browncoats, discharged without investigation, stripped of rank and instead of leaving by shuttle he is dumped into an escape pod. He staggers away wounded.

Years after that he is drunk and thrown out into the mud and gets kicked back into the mud by an alliance goon. Later as he stares at a bowl of soup he finds religion (read the comic for the explanation of that) and joins the church.

Years after that he decides it's time to leave and spread the word and that is when he meets Kaylee and boards Serenity.

So he goes from street punk to criminal, well trained martial artist assassin, to Browncoat, to infiltrating the alliance, to being discharged without investigation for the incident, to finding religion.

It's worth a read, the art work was ok at best.

The only thing is that since he was discharged without investigation and his files were "swept under the rug", how would that make the Alliance so quickly react after scanning his ID card in the episode when he was shot?
  22. I agree that Joss isn't the kiss of death for a project, more like Fox Network is the kiss of death for Joss.

A Buffy: New Generation idea would be far better then hitting the reboot button.

As for Serenity: with the recent release of the Shepard's Tale comic, it's safe to say that the flame of the firefly is all but extinguished.
  23. I agree that Rooted's speed penalty is a bit much, but two slotting the Aegis Armor set adds 5% run increase, 2 slot regen tissue adds 4% run increase, 2 slot of the Perf Shifter set also increases movement, and there are the Gift of the Ancients 7.5% run increase IO's.

My stone tank and 2 stone brutes all have about 90% run increase which negates Rooted's 90% penalty. So in Granite only mode I have 20% more run speed, in Rooted I am at normal speed, in Granite+Rooted I only suffer the Granite penalty.

The rooted speed penalty can be overcome, takes some inf to do it but can be done. That being said I wish we could power custom granite armor.
