RIP Steve Jobs. You gave many people a chance and you were a marketing genius, and you helped shape the industry.
Also I give the man credit for fighting off Pancreatic Cancer for so long as well as surviving that liver transplant he had.

Quote:Babylon 5 >TOS/TNG >DS9 >Enterprise >Star Trek Reboot movie >VoyagerOne could argue that it's actually the red-headed step-child of Babylon 5 (since DS9 didn't happen until a few years -after- JMS pitched his idea for Babylon 5 to Paramount as a possible TNG spin-off) but at the very least it's better than Voyager.
Babylon 5 forever!
If JMS could do a series or some movies about Babylon 4 and Valen, that would be cool. Granted we might need someone new in the role of Valen, but that's ok as time has passed and Michael O'Hare may be too old to redo the part. -
Quote:That, plus let's face it: I don't think that Q had ever been decked by anyone before, so it may have been a novel sensation to him, plus of course the fact that he was comparing Sisko to Picard.Seemed in character to me. Q was feeling exceptionally playful and wanted to see how much further he could push Sisko.
Also in response to the thread title: "I'm not Picard!" -
Quote:I was experiencing double crash which caused stamina problems. The redesign I'm running with now has virtually eliminated the stamina problems. What Oathbound said. Outside of using burnout, you can't get them close enough together to have a double crash, and even if you could you'd still be at 50% health.
Yes with the crashes I was still at rez cap to all but psi. -
Quote:Trust me, I was experiencing the double crash, while health didn't bottom out, stamina was an issue and yes poppin a blue or two and reactivating defenses was done, but if it can be eliminated as a weakness then so much the better. The minimum recharge of Light Form is still 60 seconds, meaning at the absolute recharge cap you could only double stack it (for 30seconds). You're not going to have a double crash. Even if somehow you managed to do it, it would still leave you with capped resist and 50% hitpoints. HP crashes aren't simply a penalty, they're a reset. Crash 1 will reset you to 50% HP, then Crash 2 would do exactly the same. Sure you'd be left with no/very little End but that's nothing popping a blue or two couldn't fix.

Aye, from what I recall ratings for series 2 were a bit lower then 1 and they didn't want to fund any more.

My first street justice toon has rolled off the assembly line: Stj/SR brute, contemplating energy armor, also as I was going through the character creator I noticed that stone armor is an option......tempting to try that but 3 stone armor alts is enough I think.

The series could have benefitted greatly from a season 3 or at least a movie to wrap it up and tie off loose ends as well as provide a few explanations.

Quote:Sometimes money talks, and is very persuasive.I could swear he quit acting before that.
Yeah, Wikipedia confirms (insert standard [citation needed]):
Also, apparently he has definite plans to return on Fringe.
As to his voice work, it's easier to speak into a microphone then work in front of a camera.
Also as his voice is a bit unque in terms of how it sounds and is easily recognized by many, voice work could well be his "golden goose" now. -
My first build combined IO set recharge bonus plus dual slotted hasten plus the T4 Spirutual Core paragon. Permlightform and permhasten, unforunately I noted a couple of minor drawbacks:
1. All that recharge great offset stamina recovery during intense battles also due to having weave, maneuvers and stealth running to reach the S/L def cap.
2. Lightform was reactivating well before previous activation would crash, so let's say you have it "stacked" 3 times and you see that two are going to wear off either at the same time or back to back....you will receive the crash from both, and that could be bad.
So we'll call the above, Permalightform One.
Currently I'm running permhasten, a tweaked build and CARDIAC is back in place for my alpha. Permalightform and hasten misses being perma by 5 seconds, however as long as it is retoggled, lightform remains perm and has less overlap crash problems. S/L defense cap is maintained and stamina is neutralized. This would be an Ascended Permalightform, or Permalightform 2.
Still working on Permalightform 3 (no hasten), but defense cap will be lost and I don't like that idea very much. -

He's 80 and had a fantastic and fun run. Can't say as I blame him for deciding that it's time to stop the convention scene.
Still....I now have that proverbial bad feeling regarding his health. I haven't heard any reports of major illness, but sometimes such reports are kept silent. -
After reading todays comment from Dan of DC about how none of the Crisis events are canon now.....

Quote:Currently in the post Mephisto era that is running in the mainstream Spiderman books, Spidey has currently lost his spider-sense and has taken lessons from Shang-Chi and has developed the new super maxed out matrix style martial art called "the way of the spider".Now I can think of several characters who used their powers above anything else, and when they lost them, they weren't able to fight crime without them. I won't list them as there are so many, but Spider-Man is an example. Maybe he'd never consider that his powers might be dampened or lost in the past, but of many powered characters who would benefit from martial arts training, I would place Spider-Man at the top of the list. (I am aware that he did take some lessons from Shang Chi in the ultimate universe.)
Thoughts?
Also way back during the Pre Mephisto era there was a story arc where Spidey again felt he had had enough of his powers and the responsibility, etc etc, and willfully exposed himself to a device that he thought would strip his powers. But he can't stop helping people and in the end it was revealed that the person behind it was Chameleon and that the device suppressed his powers, he reversed it and got them back.
As for depending too much on their powers: in many case the powers are "Always on". Spidey can't switch off his super strength or wall crawling power. As to not needing to work out, well he gets plenty of exercise swinging around the city and punching out super villains. -

Quote:I'm waiting for Bruce Timm to finish his animated version of Batman Year One and Dark Knight Returns.I'm surprised they are still making these, because I recall there being a huge multi-site news story breaking that DC's animated features were canceled due to the poor performance of WonderWoman and GL:First Flight.
Glad to see that isn't the case anymore as I am using these as my substitute for DC's Live action adaptions. -
Hm, perhaps it is time to blow the dust off my old SS/Energy armor brute.....

Quote:In the Ultimates, the Hulk was able to use his sheer might to lift the hammer but I do not recall this ever happening in 616 Marvel Universe.Thors hammer has been picked up by both Hulk, Cap and Beta Ray Bill..
Hulk had the sheer strength to lift Thors hammer. Theoretically someone in Marvel COULD lift Thors Hammer if strong enough. As someone else pointed out in the Marvel game, Thors strength was listed as Unearthly. Hulk is also Unearthly ( meaning able to lift 100 tons with relative ease ).. However Hulk when made enough could go into Shift X. Y and Z.. Z was considered by Marvel terms to have the ability to lift over 500 tons.. A very angry Hulk as we all know get massive strength boosts.. Hulk basically through sheer strength overrode the protection spell placed on the hammer
Captain America as someone else pointed out is an exceptionally honorable individual. The Hammers spell sees the really honorable as being worthy to wield it.. and therefore allows it..
In the case of Beta Ray Bill.. he actually didnt pick up Thors Hammer.. He picked up the cane.. he was looking for Thor's Hammer and being distressed that he couldnt find it.. and smacked the cane against a wall.. and that gave him the power of Thor.. This is what makes Bills case unique.. he didnt just lift the hammer.. he was imbued with all the powers of Thor.. so much so that when Odin summoned him.. he thought Bill was Thor
Steve Rogers as the Captain lifted the hammer and could feel the power it contained but didnt transform into a version of THOR, presumably due to THOR being nearby.
Beta Ray Bill: already a match for THOR in battle but was judged worthy or else the walking stick would not have activated to transform back into the hammer and turn Bill into a resemblance of THOR. Also as THOR wasn't around but Don Blake was this also coudl explain Bill's physical change as well as ODIN mistaking him for THOR. -
Quote:Shaw has limits to how much he can absorb at once. When the White Queen had mind switched with Storm she lost control of the wheather and a powerful lightning strike overloaded and decked Shaw.Hello there...
So I watched X-Men First Class w/ my brother a day or two ago (first time for him; second for me). And even in the 90s X-Men cartoon I liked the Hellfire Club/Shaw.
My question (or questions) is this...
If Shaw fought someone like...The Hulk...who would win?
I would have to go with Shaw since he can 'absorb' punches/etc, how could the Hulk hurt him? I guess the only thing I can think of is that after so long, The Hulk gets so strong from being angry (that he can't hurt Shaw/etc) that he could hurt Shaw.
Either that or Hulk could throw him out into outer space/etc...
Which by reading the wikipedia article on Shaw is how most dealt with Shaw (just removing him from the fight but not actually fighting him)...or by freezing him (since that's not a "direct" attack).
But then I think of the 90's cartoon where the Dark Phoenix beats up everyone and Shaw runs away; granted in this case, I don't quite remember how things panned out; but I think Shaw didn't really ever fight/get hit from the Phoenix, but rather it was too many X-Men vs just him/etc and with the Phoenix going crazy he just wanted to leave.
So a "god"-like being like the Phoenix/etc could defeat Shaw I presume but...could anyone else (like The Hulk)?
Curious
So if a strong lightning bolt can deck Shaw I have little doubt that one punch from the Hulk would reduce Shaw to a greasy smear. Sure Shaw will absorb some of the energy but not enough to stop the Hulk. ....
....especially if Hulk were to go Worldbreaker.... -

Quote:Wasn't Takei on the roast of Shatner that was on Comedy Central? I mean, ya, it's a roast and all.
Well yes he was. What better way to vent frustration at someone then when they are being roasted? Also wasn't that before Takei's wedding and the invitation problem?
Also when they set up a roast they sit down with the target and ask them what topics are out of bounds so they can inform the roasters of what NOT to do. Shatner's wig and the loss of his wife Nerine were taboo to the roasters. However Shatner rode out on a horse onto the stage and he is an equestrian as I recall. Takei's comment about Shatner and the horse he rode in on, according to some comments after the roast with the producers, didn't sit to well with Shatner supposedly.
Who knows? -
Quote:This. It is quite possible it is an act of sorts between them. If so, give them an award and end it.I have to think after so many decades that these two stubborn guys don't really hate each other as much as gotten into a habit of trolling each other because they unconsciously know it gives the fans something to chatter about. Sure they may never be bestest buddies in real life (whatever that is for them) but I figure their "professional rivalry" is mostly just a reflection of the ongoing pop culture phenomenon that is Star Trek. Just like Shatner doesn't take himself too seriously anymore I don't really take this supposed "feud" too seriously either.
