  1. FIREFLY: THE ANIMATED SERIES

While it may only be a rumor, the prospect of a "Firefly" animated series is certainly exciting and it's sure to continue to make the rounds in the next few weeks. At New York Comic Con 2012 during the "Firefly" reunion panel, The AV Club quotes star Nathan Fillion as teasing the possibility of an animated version of the beloved science fiction series.

Further, The New York Post reports actor Sean Maher (Simon Tam) is actually aware of a project in the works.

"I know somebody who is actually trying to get that done, who has approached Joss [Whedon, the creator] about it," Maher told the New York Post. "He used to work with Guillermo del Toro."

Obviously, "Firefly" fans have been burned before -- and Whedon looks to be concentrating on his Marvel Cinematic Universe work at the moment -- but the possibility exists, and maybe that's enough for now.

About the size of Neptune with a radius 6 times that of Earth.

Wow, four suns. I'm suddenly reminded of Whistler's comment to the vamps in Blade 2 "Better get some sunscreen, buttercup."

But now that new management has taken over and all the old editors are gone, I'm guessing all bets are off.
Well Peter has met some alternate Earth uncle Ben's and recently there was a timewarp story where Peter met his Uncle Ben again, and I think in an anniversary issue years ago Doctor Strange gave Peter a gift that allowed Ben's spirit to return for a brief chat with Peter. Bringing back uncle Ben would completely wreck Spider-man as a character and would be even more catastrophic then Spidey making a deal with the devil.

As to Mar-Vell, his death at the time was also part of Marvel ending their cosmic characters and books for awhile. Adam Warlock and Thanos were already dead, in fact Thanos' spirit was sent be Death to collect Mar-Vell. Soon after, Drax the Destroyer was killed off. Then comes the 90's, Starlin returns to Marvel and revives Thanos, then Drax, then Adam Warlock......but Marv stayed dead. Quasar was the new Protector of the Universe and Silver Surfer was the anointed champion to battle Thanos, so there was no need for Mar-Vell

I would guess that the Current Carol Danvers Captain Marvel book (which I thought was pretty bad after only two issues) will have a revival at least teased.
Well Rick Remender who wrote the AvX tie in that briefly revived Marv via the Phoenix and then had the Phoenix kill him again is said to have tweeted "how do you know that was the last of him?" His body did soft land on a planet and plant life began growing around it most likely due to residual phoenix energies. As soon as I read that and got past my disgust that they still won't permanently revive him I began to think of Star Trek 2 and 3 and how the Genesis energies restored Spock......

Marv's death though did serve to inspire:

    1. monica rambeau, she took the name then read up on Marv and was determined to live up to the name

    2. Wendell Vaughn/Quasar: the next Protector of the Universe after Mar-Vell, determined to live up to his predecessor's legend, also reveal that his quantum bands are meant for the universal protector.

    3. Genis, son of Mar-Vell. Determined to live up to the legend and make his father proud. unjustly had his book cancelled and killed off due to Joe Q mandate.

    4. Carol Danvers, always had feelings for Marv and was there in AvX when he returned and his sacrifice and a pep talk from Captain America inspires her to take the name.

Here's the problem though as I see it: marvel has had the trademark to produce a Captain Marvel book since the 60's due to DC's oversight in not getting the trademark, hence DC cannot publish a Captain Marvel book and now just calls him SHAZAM. Captain Mar-Vell died a very mortal and rather FINAL death in a touching story and he is the only major character to perish in such a fashion. It's one thing to come back from bombs, bullets, lasers, teleporter errors, incineration, disintegration, etc etc etc., but to come back from a death such as his.......is tricky. CIVIL WAR THE RETURN; gave us a time displaced Marv who learns how he perishes and the cancer is slowly building in him so we had a good potential story about him reaffirming his legend and risking death in the present vs. the past only for Marvel to chicken out and make him a skrull copy. It's also been established during his two brief revivals that he doesn't WANT to return (Cosmic Powers Unlimited and AvX) and that he believes his time is done.

Marvel has a trademark that they stubbornly refuse to let go but also don't know what to really do with it. Either make a viable replacement and stick with it (Genis or Carol) or else suck it up and revive Captain Mar-Vell.

    I currently read:

AVENGING SPIDER-MAN - Was really boring, but Minimum Carnage just started, so I'll be into it.
AvX VS - Series just ended.
BEFORE WATCHMEN MINUTEMEN - I'm in for all of these.
    BEFORE WATCHMEN SILK SPECTRE
    BEFORE WATCHMEN COMEDIAN
    BEFORE WATCHMEN NITE OWL
    BEFORE WATCHMEN OZYMANDIAS
FANTASTIC FOUR - I've loved what Jonathan Hickman has done with the Fantastic Four, but I know he's leaving soon. These are good candidates for culling when Hickman is gone.
    FF
JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY - One of my favorite series, but I think it's about to end...
MORNING GLORIES - This book by Nick Spencer was one of my favorites through the first 10 or so, but since then, it's seemingly become more about being as mysterious as possible without ever really getting around to any plot development.
POWERS - This series just ended, but a followup series is coming, called Powers: Bureau IIRC. It was one of my favorite series, so I'll follow it in whatever form.
UNCANNY X-FORCE - I think this is a keeper. As much as I don't like Wolverine, the core team and everything associated with it has been really interesting. Especially the current story arc with Evan.
WINTER SOLDIER - I want to end this one, and told myself I would as soon as the current story arc was over, but it seems that It's spilled over into another arc. Brubaker just isn't doing much for me with this book.
WOLVERINE AND X-MEN - This is one of my favorites, again despite Wolverine. The students and X-Men as teachers are really great. Jason Aaron has probably made this my favorite Marvel book.
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #693 – $3.99 - You'll never take my Spider-Man from me. Even if the last story arc with Alpha fell kind of flat.
AVENGERS ACADEMY - Like with Wolverine and the X-Men above, I really like the young superhero student angle. This series came out of Avengers: The Initiative, which was one of my favorite things to come out of Civil War. I really like some of the characters, but the recent Academy characters weren't so great. An arc just finished that really had a conclusive feel, so maybe the book is done with anyway; now feels like a good time for it to be, or for me to be done with it, at least.
DARK AVENGERS - This is really the Thunderbolts. I have no idea what has been going on lately - Did they change the title to trick LCS pull lists with the guideline "pull all "Avengers" titles? Anyway. I've been with the series since just before Warren Ellis made it a great book, but it's been running on steam pretty much since then. If it isn't ending, I'm just about done with it.
    DEADPOOL - A keeper.
DEFENDERS - This series went from really great to plodding. I think it's this damn Concordance Engine stuff; I'm tired of it.
FIRST X-MEN - I've read the first two issues; I don't see any real reason I should stick with it.
    HAWKEYE - Favorite new book.
GUARDING THE GLOBE - Just started. Interested to read more about some of the heroes seen in passing in Invincible, but I don't know if that's really enough.
INVINCIBLE IRON MAN - I've liked the book since Matt Fraction took over; I think it's about to end - Is that true?
MIGHTY THOR - Reading primarily out of duty thanks to the tie-in with Journey Into Mystery.
    ULTIMATE COMICS X-MEN
    ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDER-MAN
    ULTIMATE COMICS ULTIMATES
    - I'd been reading these since their reboot, but the only one I'm even remotely interested in is Spider-Man. But now they're all tying into one another and uggggh.
VENOM - Enjoyed the first bit, but since the new writer (Cullen Bunn, maybe?) took over, it was a little lame. Still. In for Minimum Carnage.
X-FACTOR - One of my favorites.
AVENGERS ASSEMBLE - AWFUL BOOK. I think it's ending any minute now regardless.
    AVENGERS VS X-MEN - Ended
CAPTAIN AMERICA - Used to be one of my favorites, but it's been pretty mediocre pretty much since the reboot. So like 18 issues by now.
MANHATTAN PROJECTS - I keep deciding to quit this series, then reading another issue. It's not my typical fare, but it is interesting...
    NEW AVENGERS - Ending soon?
SCARLET SPIDER - Wait, is is Scarlet Spider interesting with Venom for Minimum Carnage, or Avenging Spider-Man? Now I'm confused.
    UNCANNY X-MEN - Ending soon?
ATOMIC ROBO FLYING SHE DEVILS O/T PACIFIC - I'm a fan of Brian Clevinger's Atomic Robo, just not the format of many miniseries... es. Does the plural of miniseries exist? Miniseries'?
    AVENGERS - Ending?
WALKING DEAD - I've grown a bit weary of the current "No One is Safe" story, but I'm in.
HIT-GIRL - Millar's Kick-*** universe sometimes makes my eyes roll, but I've liked this miniseries.
INVINCIBLE - I'm ready for Mark Grayson to do something again. I imagine that's what issue #100 will be for.
    SECRET AVENGERS - Ending soon?
WOLVERINE - I started reading it again to see how/why Jeph Loeb brings back Sabretooth (after the fact he was seen again in Uncanny X-Force) and instantly regretted it.
I haven't touched Before Watchmen as I think that is an area of stories that we didn't need to go to, but that's just me.

As to the Marvel stuff, I'd wait for the already overhyped "Marvel NOW!" relaunches then trim down the reading list.

I agree that Cap's current run has been a bit dull, but as part of Marvel NOW! they plan to revive the original Red Skull in a somewhat unique way and make him a new foe for Uncanny Avengers. That should make Cap's life more interesting especially since from what I read this is a copy of the Skull's mind that he made and had stored back during the war so it will not be the true Red Skull that survived the war only to return to menace Cap for years with things like the Cosmic Cubes, return in clone body of Cap or try to take control of Cap's body and kill Rogers like he tried recently only to finally perish (or so it seemed)
  7. http://www.newsarama.com/comics/10-c...er-110627.html

kind of odd they didn't mention Captain Mar-Vell, despite some fake revivals (Skrull-Vell) and 2(Cosmic Powers Unlimited #1, Avengers v X-men) very brief returns he's stayed dead and his death still shows that sometimes no matter what, heroes do perish and their legend inspires others to carry on for them.

I enjoyed Spider-Man Unlimited, though I do agree the cape wasn't needed but I think it was a nod to the comic Spider-man 2099.

Basically Marvel wanted to compete with Batman Beyond, but between Pokemon/DIGIMON ratings and I think some in-house production problems the show didn't make it.

Batman Beyond costume: integrated weapons including built in grappling rope launchers (web shooter inspired I'm sure) as well as launching batarangs from the wrists and sensors and stealth mode.

Spider-Man Unlimited: stealth mode, integrated webshooters with standard and impact webbing, launchable spider-stingers, sensors, gas filter in mask......

Terry McGuiness = future Batman Peter Parker on an alternate futuristic Earth.

    Nope, no similarities

Ultraman TIGA definitely was given a comical/dumbed down dubbing, Ultraseven's dubbing was decent at best but still better then Tiga's.

Also I saw some of the banned Ep 12 (dubbed version), and I can see why Tsubayara has stricken that episode from Ultra history.

Yes but those two were of the Babylon 5 era, I'm talking about Babylon 4 and Valen's war with the shadows.

    Commander Sinclair

    G'kar
    Zack Allen
    Zathras

Already working on this, I've recorded all blueside zones and GM's except for KRONOS which I'll be taking care of real soon.

Also some old alts on another server that I rolled and never started were still in the original hero and villain tutorials so I recorded them too.

It will depend on how many have moved on to other jobs. Then comes considerations like:

    1. Which will pay better
    2. Benefits whether medical or 401K
    3. Who the new COH Owners/Investors would be and would they want the old staff back or seek newer talent at possibly cheaper salaries?
    4. Overall stability and long term future of new owners/investors.
    5. Any NDA/No Competition clauses

While some may love to come back, certain practicalities may prevent them.

Still wouldn't mind JMS getting a Babylon 4 prequel series or movies produced. There are many stories to be told of that era.
