Are you seriously talking about realism in a superhero MMO? Good grief, of all the stupid things argued against AR, this is the piece of corn on top of a gigantic pile of poo.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm merely pointing out that it's a relevant argument for this set. We get "natural" for an origin which describes that the abilities a natural player are "not super at all" furthermore, AR is the only set Corrs get that can even come close to realism. I think it's a relevant argument and not stupid at all. -
What has always bugged me about AR is that every damn power comes with some kind of caveat.
Flamethrower. Good damage, but it takes over SEVEN seconds to deal that damage. Even longer now that the stealth nerf of having the damage delay on enemies at range. I think BaBs said something about how it's more realistic that the flame travels to the enemies in the back slower than enemies up front. Maybe he's never seen an actual real flamethrower in operation. Realistically, it should be an incredibly fast BLAST of concentrated cone fire that instantly fries the targets. Not a slow-motion snake of fire that slowly toasts enemies to a healthy brown. I have never agreed with FT being a pure DOT. It should be huge upfront damage with minor DoT. If we're going to be talking about realism, and since AR is a natural themed set supposedly based upon real physics, I believe it's a totally relevant argument.
Full Auto. Cool power but extremely long animation time and a narrow cone. The new animation is shorter, but it's still LONG.
M30. Only good targeted AoE in the set but it's smash/lethal and has tons of KB.
Buckshot. Good animation, average damage, annoying KB.
Ignite. Wow you used to SOMETIMES be able to make it work under the correct circumstances but now it's been painfully nerfed, even further reducing it's practical applications.
Burst and Slug are...average ST attacks.
Beanbag has some good uses but it doesn't help you kill anything. In an AT with an entire secondary dedicated to support and buff/debuff and survival tools it's use is extremely limited. Better on a blaster.
It's still a decent set, but I don't have the patience for it, no matter how many different AR characters I've tried. As mentioned earlier, the KB is not reliable. You can't avoid scattering mobs. Some are gonna get KBd, some won't. It's a random percentage and it's unpredictable even by the best of players.
And since we're talking realism, Grenades and gun shots do not knock people flying. If AR is the realistic natural choice of blast primaries, then let's take a look at realism.
Buckshot. IRL a shotgun blast will stagger a human target. Obviously getting shot will make you fall down, but that's only because you're dead. If a shotgun blast were strong enough to send people flying, it would send the shooter flying as well, or send the gun flying out of the shooters hands.
M30 fragmentation grenade. It would knock you down, maybe the force of the explosion would push you back a little, but again, the vast majority of the damage comes from the little fragments that cut through the target like butter.
Flamethrower, like I said earlier, would be a massive and insanely fast burst of flaming death. Not a slow moving cloud of uncomfortably warm air.
For me, when I play AR I want the concept of a natural themed gun using character that has some basis in real physics. So many of these powers being so inaccurate bugs me in both a RP sense and a game mechanic sense. -

Once upon a Positron there was a bug. It's purple Mankey liked saving walruses deaths. Until a green shoe fell off a pretty cloud of root beer fluff cleaving off seven little toes while chewing Bubblegum. After seeing the drunk Pinnacle-ite puke chunky bits of magnets, it stumbled into a garbage carafe. Feeling pretty depressed, it died a Lonely death.
Elsewhere, there were some hungry hippos dancing on me for every time one slurps from the fountain of Wayne. In the early dawn, sirens wailed under a pale little moon made of nothing. People thought they saw Ghost Widow munching on Doritos with Valerie. But it wasn't Doritos, it was a magical corncob that sexy Jay designed with care.
This time, she wanted 12 umpa-loompas and 5 slimy Pterodactyls with Listerine. Suddenly the wizard Spanksalot grumbled with great big annoyance. Dirty scoundrels sacked small vermin left by evil midgets wearing pink Fedoras and speedos. However, Elvis wasn't having cheesecake; he stopped to adjust Stacy's corset that had melted rubber down its frog but sadly, he died.
Cheney shot the lawyer in the buttocks with spitballs made of recycled garbage with asparagus. After blowing the mayor -

Another hurt 'n heal game! In this one we are doing the CoV zones.
Here the the rules. Each zone starts out with a number of points. You subtract 1 point from one zone and add 1 point to another. Who will win? We're going with just the primary zones, here. Not PvP or Monster island or any of that.

IIRC, Paragon Studios is licensing the game engine from Cryptic, and part of the deal when PS bought the franchise was that the Cryptic logo would remain. I'll see if I can find official documentation of that.

Interesting. Perhaps that is why they are talking about engine upgrades and such. Maybe GR will introduce a new, internally developed game engine. It doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to pay licensing fees to the competition, or perhaps they are just sick of using the Cryptic engine and want something that reflects the needs of the player today (customization, etc.) -
Rad/Dark, Rad, Cold or Kin. /Kin depends highly on your patience. I'd say Rad/ because of the huge defense debuffs and good AoE ensures you and your team will always be able to hit their targets. It's especially useful early on in the pre-SO range. Rad/ can also slot a very useful proc in pretty much every attack. Achilles' Heel chance for -res.

SD is probably the set that has the largest performance spectrum of any set in the game. at level 50 with SO level performance it's pretty squishy. Level 50 IO'd out to the soft-cap with lots of recharge and it's probably one of, if not the strongest melee secondary.
-
Find the biggest, meanest, ugliest bastards in the spawn, charge them head on, and beat the crap out of them until they are dead. Let the team sort out the rest of the mobs.
-
When I play on normal teams I judge my craziness by the situation. Playing melee and scrappers for a long time, I know what I can handle and what my pace is.
Put buffs on me like SB, Fulcrum, or anything else that turns me into a god and I go into god of destruction mode and don't slow down for ANY reason. In this state I only have two gears. balls to the wall, and dead. -

Bosses have a decent amount of HP, but enough to warrant a DPS vs Burst argument? I don't know. I'd go with Fire for a boss killer. Very good burst and DPS and a decent damage type that won't be resisted as much as the swords or claws.

QR - It was my birthday yesterday, and i went out with my friends and got quite pissed . When I got home at 4am, I sent an email to support about a problem im having with my arc. Re-reading it today, its surprisingly lucid and calm. I tend to type really slowly and carefully when i PUI - that email probably took me an hour to type out lol.
Its texting drunk thats the killer for me - not so much what I say but who I say it to. Bit of a /facepalm moment this morning lol.

I found that I am definitely a texter when I drink. Much to the bewilderment of the people I'm texting. -
Is that ridiculously high detailed model of Foreshadow sitting in the Hollows a foreshadow of what's to come? eh?
I predict high poly models, across the board texture improvements, especially environmental stuff, real-time lighting possibly with real day/night cycles with the sun being an actual light source during the day and lamps and player cast powers casting lights in the dark, and an overhaul to their effects system to make it both prettier and customizable. Frosting? Real time weather effects including rain, storms, and fog.
Super unlikely? War Walls come down, Paragon turned into a real streaming city and the Rogue Isles become traversable via swimming (or flying, or jumping or teleporting).
Could just be daydreaming, but here's hoping. -
Truthfully, I'm 24 years old, and I've only been buzzed a few times, and only drunk once. I don't drink often, although my OP may suggest otherwise.
Also, what's pornographic about my avatar? -
How many of you are guilty of posting under the influence? Why am I making such a pointless topic? You decide!
Anyway, have you ever posted something dumb while drinking, then gone back and read it and wondered what you were thinking at the time?
Will I do that tomorrow? I'll tell you tomorrow. -
The OP pretty much nailed why I spend most of my time playing redside. Old contact blue side:
"Go there"
"Come back"
"go over there"
"go back to the first place"
"come back here"
and the content was no where NEAR good enough to warrant all of the useless travel.
AE and Radios help this a lot. -
I also had similar issues with my dom. I really liked the playstyle, felt I played him quite well on teams and solo, I just got really frustrated one day on an Arachnos mission when it took me an entire endurance bar and far too long to plink away at an LT and a minion that were +1 to me. Sure I was in NO danger, but it's the only level 28 SO'd out character I ever played where I felt like I was still some lowbie struggling to maintain. Maybe I got spoiled on...every other AT I have played being a lot more powerful in that level range, but I just didn't have the patience to continue. This was ice/ice.
Then Domination mode would pop on and I'd rock the house.
Then it would wear off and I'd be plinking away again (3 damage SOs in every attack).
Anyway, he got BALEETED and I now have a level 8 plant/elec sitting on live waiting for the dom changes. -
I miss the Angry_Citizen and Frostweaver /nin vs /EA arguments on the stalker forums, even though it probably hasn't been that long.
I'm more of a lurker who pokes his head in every now and then, though, or drops advice on the corr forums. Don't mind me -
Dear Caves,
If you're a big wide troll mission cave, you're good. If you're any other kind of cave mission, please stop existing.

I'm gonna guess MA being the least popular, or perhaps fire. Mostly because the swords get to be customized and that's a huge draw for them.
