  1. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but...

Fiery Embrace now adds a proc that does about 40% extra damage on top of the final calculated damage of your attack. That's after damage buffs and enhancements. Whatever does more damage will benefit more from FE. Not sure if that's a Scrapper or a Brute though.
  2. Good to hear. I've noticed that if you run into the entrance of the conference room there's an arachnos logo on the floor. You basically just have to stand there on the logo and both bosses will aggro you. This way you don't need to chase anything or move anywhere.
  3. I've tried it on a rad/elec and rad/fire blaster and a fire/dark corr. It doesn't work near as well for me. Neither blaster can kill anything fast enough. I may be tempted to try it on a claws/fire or DB/Fire scrapper just to see what happens.

Just a reminder to those who checking this thread. I've updated my mission to be a bit more steamlined. new map and new triggers. Arc ID: 503858. Let me know how it works out for you.
  4. Heya folks. I've updated my lowbie map to streamline it a bit and change some stuff up.

    1. I've changed the ambush triggers to bosses instead of objects.
    2. I've given the bosses text to help you find them. Plan to update their costumes to make them distinct.
    3. I've changed the map to the grandville conference room. Still not sure if that will stay, but I'm open to suggestions. Just got sick of the abandoned warehouse.

I've also discovered that Dual Blades is amazing at these farms. By level 8 you can have a damage aura, Hasten and the weaken combo. Typhoon has a short recharge so it really helps speed things along. This time I'm doing it on a Dark Armor Brute which is good for this since all you need is a damage aura.

I've been experimenting with patrol triggers, but they never seem to spawn anywhere near the player. Not sure if there's any way around that, but if anyone has any ideas, I'm open.

Give it a try! Arc ID: 503858
  5. The tier 9 of that set should be some omnislash ripoff so I can put that sword to good use.

Attack an enemy with it, then teleport to another nearby enemy and attack, repeat 13 more times. Find some way to detach the camera when you're activating (so you don't give the player a seizure) and use the chaining damage code to make it work.

  6. I'd hate to sound cold or vindictive (I'm really not trying to) but the way I see it is there is very little return on investment with fixing these age old problems. The truth is that the game is in the tail end of it's lifecycle. As much as the devs want to paint "freedom" as some kind of new beginning, the reality is that the team needs to focus on things that will keep the game alive and keep the money flowing.

Not that I don't wish they wouldn't devote an issue to fixing everything.

    Step Child Woes

I wouldn't reject any player based on powersets/AT. Worth noting: On a TF where you are usually fighting +conning enemies all of that KB would be reduced in mag, possibly even down to KD. If the team leader were any good he would have figured that out. That said, I do have issues when playing an Energy blaster myself.

Most KB powers only have a % chance to cause the KB effect. Basically you can never predict what's going to happen on a spawn to spawn basis. It's essentially impossible to not scatter a mob when only a handful of the ones you hit are even going to be KB'd in the first place.

Then there's the issue of not always having an "ideal" situation such as walls/corners to knock things into. In that case you either just accept that some scattering is going occur, or you don't use your AoE blasts. Then what good are they at all?

Hoverblasting so you can shoot straight down on a spawn works, but you have to be directly above them and (at least when I tried it) it slowed me down so much I just got frustrated. Plus what good is my secondary when I'm floating around? Then I just can't help but realize that I'm playing a blast primary that's forcing me into all of these workarounds just to avoid pissing everyone off (including myself) for a set that gives mediocre performance at best.

That's just my own personal rant on the matter. IMO they should just change the mag of KB on those powers to 0.67 so it's KD instead of KB. Then if a player chooses to they can slot a KB enhancement in there to beef it up or make it so the KB in those powers triggers 100% of the time so the player has greater control over it.
  8. I think most of the people here understand when we use the term AI what we are really referring to is just scripting.

I have no doubt that fixing henchmen AI would be a massive undertaking that would probably require the team to basically re-write the entire code they use. That is why I have no doubt that other than tweaks and bug fixes that nothing will ever be done to really address these issues. Doesn't help that the powersets feature drastically different types of critters but they all share the same damn code.
  9. Don't worry. It's on the list: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=255708

Actually, you can still worry, since I have serious doubts anything will be done to fix these long standing AI issues. Also, as stated, melee/range doesn't matter. If a henchmen doesn't have an attack to use the henchmen will by default run into melee range. This was made worse by the recharge changes in pet AI because many henchmen don't have seamless ranged or melee attack chains. The bitter irony is the justification of taking away recharge was that it was supposed to solve AI issues. >:|
  10. Is the pricing for slots and server transfers on the paragon market going to change?

    Electric/fire

I have an elec/fire scrapper and he's amazing. The amount of burst AoE damage he can do in a 5 second timeframe is just amazing. FE>BU>LR>Burn>Fireball is just amazing. On teams I wipe out entire spawns before the team can even get there. Then they all sit around and talk about how they want to roll an Elec/Fire. LR alone under those circumstances does >1000 damage. Then you add two or three more great AoEs on top of that.

Keep in mind that for some reason Mid's is not correctly displaying the values on Lightning Rod. At least not on my end it isn't.

It would suck big, big bouncy balls if I don't get it.
As far as I understand it you should get the rewards since you're paying monthly.
  17. When I made my Brute I bought some vender trash from the market for 100 inf then sold it to a vendor. Made a couple thousand inf, bought some level 35 range recipes from the market for 1000 inf and sold those for like 8k at a vendor. That got me started.

Just go to the inspiration vendor and eat like 20 reds and a bunch of purple and oranges and run into the map. During the mission don't be picky. You only have 3 slots so just mash everything you get. They drop so fast you're bound to get stuff you need.

Another great thing about these lowbie farms. When you exemp you don't lose your inspiration tray slots.

  20. I'd consolidate.

Merge several of the near dead servers until we were down to maybe 5 US servers.
  21. Muon is definitely right. Endurance is the key to everything for a successful Dark Armor.
  22. BrandX makes a good point. Gloom covers any ST deficit in ELM. Fire Melee isn't half bad, either. FSC does a truck load of damage. Fire/WP/Soul would definitely be an uncommon choice for farming, but by no means bad. With iPowers such as reactive radial T3, any judgement, and Spiritual/Musculature T3 core you'll be smoking +4s like it's your day job.
  23. None of those characters would be very good at farming. You'd be best to roll a SS/Fire or Claws/Fire and run one of those lowbie farm maps. Now allow me the opportunity to pimp my own: Arc ID: 503858

    Set Diff at +1/8 W/bosses.

Set the mission and initiate it with the contact then head to the inspiration dealer.

Pop 5 purple and 5 orange inspirations.

Pop however many reds you need to get to the 675% damage cap.

Purchase and store 5 purples and how ever many more reds you can fit in your tray.

Enter the mission and destroy the two objects in the first hallway.

Defeat enemies! When your inspirations start to fade make sure you pop the ones you have in reserve or you will almost certainly die the instant they wear off.

Sustain off of the inspirations that will drop for you.

If you went with SS/Fire, you're basically going to have to rely almost entirely on Blazing Aura to do all of the killing for you. Don't worry! That's not as bad as it sounds. Because the enemies max out at level 3, it only takes a couple of pulses to defeat them. Once you get to level 32 you can take Footstomp and go to a traditional farm. Like FRONTLOAD or Crey's Fire Cyborgs.

If you went with Claws/Fire you can have spin and blazing aura available on that map, which will give you the ability to 1 shot everything, even bosses, with a single Spin assuming you're running on tons of +damage. You can even take the map all the way to level 50 if you're crazy like I am:

Sorry for the confusion. I was going back and forth between the two and maybe got my info mixed up. Most of the time I left it at +1, but towards the end of my run to 50 I upped it to +2. At +2 I found it to be a bit of a drag but I was still able to smack the bosses with spin assuming I was damage capped.
  25. I have a claws/DA scrapper with SJ as a travel power and he's nigh unkillable. You do not need to be a pro player to do well with Dark Armor. Out of the box it's one of the most survivable secondaries out there. It has some of the absolute best IO slotting potetional of any armor set. Really. It's pretty amazing.

S/L soft cap. 35 E/NE defense and ~50 NE resistance with 25% energy resistance. Also, it just so happens to be pretty darn close to the Melee soft-cap as well. I gain endurance pretty much every time I use Dark Regen. I've tried to drain my endurance and it's just not possible. The two +end procs fire off constantly and cardiac has reduced my endurance costs to almost nothing. This is basically the pinnacle of layered protection, second only to a soft-capped to everything DM/Invuln.

Now add a Destiny iPower in there you're running around with soft-capped defense and capped resistance to everything for a long period of time and at the very least another 5% defense and resistance to everything.

Yes it's an expensive build, but it was so worth it.

What should I slot for if I'm using almost entirely SOs? I can't stand all this invention nonsense, it's far too confusing and time consuming and I never bother with it before level 50.
Now that's gonna be an issue. Focus on capping damage res in your shields, fit in Tough/Weave/Maneuvers and slot those to the res/def limit. Slot cloak of darkness for defense and put a lot of endurance reduction in everything. Dark Regen should have at least 2 endurance reduction in it. It does not really need to be slotted for healing since it can hit multiple targets. Shockwave from Claws/ will be very helpful in keeping enemies on their butts. You definitely want either of the two starting attacks + Slash, Follow up and Focus. Eviscerate is personal preference. I like it over Shockwave but since you might need the extra mitigation go with Shockwave.

Go for Body and take Physical Perfection. Try to get both that and Stamina slotted with the +endurance proc at least. Those will make a HUGE difference in your endurance management. Get the Cardiac Alpha once you hit level 50. That will be the best investment you can make on a DA character. Don't know what to say about Cloak of Fear since I took it and subsequently respec'd out of it years ago.
