through a nice wall of fire or summit..
anyway... awww poor vDs leavin -
i'd say as primary: fire, ill and grav with secondary either kin or rad, though my ill/ff wasnt that hard to solo at times (even when i built him as a teambuild). Mind is also soloable, yet I dont know for sure what the best secondary is for mind.. i never really got into mind
Ice and earth are definately not viable to solo compared to the other primaries -
as stated, it is DEFINATELY not 100% acc.. AoEs have an acc penalty, though I dont know the exact number. I got it and love it, however I prolly wouldnt have taken it without stalagmites. One of my favourite attack chains on my earth/storm is open with stalagmites so (most of times) you prevent an alpha from non-bosses. Then earthquake + freezing rain or stone cages + freezing rain to keep em from running, run in and use thunderclap and pull out. The stacking of stalagmites + thunderclap gives you that little bit extra to stun most mobs.

im going for the ill/earth camp as well
, fire and ice competing for second place
(and woohoo I got both)

You can fight both with, and against villains in the arena.
[/ QUOTE ]
the prob is, not everybody knows that... I used to have duels in PvP zones until I found out that the hero and villain arenas were linked.
Some more info about the arenas to new players would be nice, seeing we now got the liaisons explaining the pvp zones, maybe they should add something like "if you want private battles with your friends, the arena is a sure way to fight your friends, be they hero or villain, without interruptions"
If people then STILL go duelling in an open PvP zone and start whining about it, then it's their own fault, if they still claim they didnt know bout arena its a severe case of "ZOMG!! RTFM!!11!" (well kinda) -
yeah i know the prob, been redecoratin my VG base to fit in a 3x2 control room cause we already hit the control cap for the 2x2 one. but seeing it also had a 4x3 TP room in it (its on the 8x8 plot btw), it was bloody annoying moving those rooms around, had to make multiple sketches on paper first before i could move it around, and even then i had to put all items in the middle of the room before i could move the rooms (and thus removing my beautiful *ahem* room layout).
Base editing, decent addition to the game, but it could be oh so better -

I'll count myself, thank you very much..
And only times they MoGged is when team decides to spread their attacks all over the room, not damaging even ONE PP enough -
yeah, I didnt even attempt BP mishes solo... well, tried once but 3 hospital trips later I changed my mind.
Remember I did the close ruptures mish in BP dimension.. team insisted on clearing the map so I was like "awww man, this sucks". Tried nuking a group of +1, so.. 2x mire, eclipse, a rage for good measure and then it was time to go BOOM! Well, most of times this knocks out almost if not the whole group. This case however they just stood there pointing and laughing at me
...I hate BP....
P.S. anybody know what their weaknesses are? personally i was thinking fire, but not sure -
i think there are a few probs that cause this:
1) Some people think City of Villains gives them the right to march around acting like a [censored], a know-it-all, a.. well fill it in yourself. This kinda puts people off teaming.
2) On some pcs (like mine) CoV lags alot more than CoH. GFX are managable on smaller teams, yet my FPS goes almost subzero on big teams. Add to that higher lvl teams with 2/3+ MMs on the team, and your FPS plummets. This puts people off teaming because they rather solo and be able to play, than team and not being able to get out of slideshow mode.
3) CoV ATs are a bit more "offensive" compared to the CoH ATs. Every AT except dom on CoV got attacks as their primary, dom as secondary, hence they are all able to do at least some decent damage on their own. This makes them bit less relying on teams. I dont mean that CoV ATs never need a team, cause some sets do complement each other. However, if you for instance take a low lvl controller, he is almost impossible to solo hence you NEED teams. Once teams are formed, they most of times keep goin for a while (some leave, some join etc). On CoV, people might look for a team, then after 15 mins or so spamming broadcast to no avail they decide its not worth waiting and go solo, after all, most builds permit this.
I think nr 3 is the most important reason why there arent as much teams as on CoH. Course a good VG can do miracles as well. To me personally, on my MM I tend to solo as well. I know some if not most teams dread MMs as they tend to "live in their own world" (or comments like that). To me, its the other way around, I hate most teams imposing their will on MMs on how THEY think it should be played, so to save the trouble I solo. On top of that, I got quite a nice xprate solo and thusfar I have even been able to solo every AV I met (including before the AV/EB change).
So my reason basically is somewhat like reason #1. For a good while I've evaded PuGs on CoV and only team when friends or SG mates ask me to, otherwise I'll just solo. Sure I'd like to team, after all, its a multiplayer game after all. But if these PuGs keep disappointing me, I have no choice. Hence I also only play my MM if I cant find teams on other chars, hes kinda my solo-char. -
had the same prob, then found out that even when the editor said it was a good spot to move our 4x3 TP room to, it seemed a watercooler was blocking the door so we couldnt place it. Yet that "1 spot needed between rooms, even at corner" rule kinda ticks me off.. basic plot is 8x8 = 64 spots where you maybe can use bout 30 max (well, bit exxagerating there)
-
I'd be interested, though I'm still figuring out what build would be great for pvp
I think there once was a pvp SG on union for CoV.. but I havent heard from it for.. eh.. well a few months at least -
well, uni appointment got postponed to wednesday rather than monday, so thats outta the way
now the only thing that affects me coming is if I'm sober enough to get out of bed early
-
should be, though if you are really pressing for time, gimme a shout ingame, I'll help ya out a bit (still got some praetorians on stage and that nice unai kemen arc on nef
)
-
not sure if I can make it then (got some other things to do in weekends end of april, but not sure bout exact dates) however seeing you're still short of people I can get nef out to do some escort/security
-
I mean that the WS has more advantages of being triform than a PB, PBs can easily stay in human-only or biform, whereas the extras of the shapeshifts really come in very handy for WS. Why else would eclipse be able to be used in all forms and lightform human-only for instance?
That said, of course tri-form PBs can be good as well. It's just the benefits it brings to a PB aint as much as to a WS imo. -

Honestly I've seen a team going great, plowing through mobs like there's no tomorrow, come crashing to a faceplanting halt when we ran into a void and didn't react quickly enough to it.
[/ QUOTE ]
you are gonna LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Quantum PPs once they activate MoG :P
in this case ms. lisa, even stayin, fighting, dieing, rezzing, nuking doesnt work
must say it was quite fun to watch a whole 8man team run from 1 PP

run.. HELL NO.. stay and fight it out MoG only lasts so long.. soo.!
He activates MoGjust start counting..

I'm noticing my shade definitely feels squishier than my pb at the same level (same nova slotting), whether it's a slightly lower damage output/recharge rate from the nova blasts, or just the different bad guys I face in the pb and ws arcs, but I did notice I was faceplanting a lot more (mostly the CoT missions where a +1 void spawns next to a +1 life mage)
Ah well, life will improve.
[/ QUOTE ]
well CoT will be your bane as a WS cause iirc they got some nifty neg energy resistance, hence you do less damage. Once they got spawns full of nerva demons and earth casters I almost gave up soloing those mishes on my WS, got whupped as squid and as dwarf the acc debuffs and slows + neg energy resistance meant I couldnt hurt em. Though this led me to my current solo-tactic: use dwarf to tank, while your pets do the damage, the tricky part is gettin that first pet out to start doing damage. -
[ QUOTE ]
by any chance, you got a indication how long the Mire damage buff lasts? It realy sounds like an awsome hit-the-cap output power
[/ QUOTE ]
30 seconds, so enough time for you to whack em good
bout forms, well I mainly use dwarf form and let my pets deal the most of the damage. However once i got eclipse running i swap to nova, just cause its more damage and with proper eclipse you got enough dmg res. Also use nova if im in a team that can properly manage aggro.
Human form is only used for buffs really, use it to fire a second mire to hit dmg/acc cap, eclipse, quasar, dark extraction, unchain essence, stygian circle (and when im dead stygian return). Only use the blasts if after a nuke one is left standing and needs to go down fast. Also use it for the tp foe + gravity well tactic to take down voids or sappers first.
Must admit that its more viable for WS to go triform than it is for PBs -
iirc they spawn 3 or 4 nictus for every teammate that comes close to em, so on an 8 man team they can spawn bout 32 of those nictus buggers.
However on my WS i never saw em as a threat, just run in as dwarf and SMASH! or.. post 41 (when i got quasar), just run in as dwarf, mire, eclipse, quasar, pummel crystal -
if you're fightin crystals, get that WS in dwarf form to tank it for you, or post-38 let him fire eclipse and they wont pose that much of a threat to the team cause well, they just got massive resistance to the negative attacks.
Not sure if PBs can take the same role though, but i guess in lightform it makes it viable to tank it as well -
as i told ya, put me down as a maybe mate
