chucking one up for earth/storm here.. talking from own experience, got 2 trollers played to a high enough lvl to know enough bout em, namely my ill/ff to 50 and my earth/storm to 37. I played all other sets, but none to a sufficient level yet to comment.
Reading the "awesome control" an ill troller has.. I have to disagree. Illusion, yes, it has control. However, this aint the hard control that earth is the master in. The control of illusion can be pretty good, but its tricky to master and is also dependent on how your pets feel most of the time.
Illusion was soloable pretty easy as you had some nice damage and some nice control to keep yourself alive. My earth/storm on the other hand, cant solo at all. Sure, she doesnt die, but the damage she deals is too low to be efficient. However all the mobs in a few yards radius are locked down, unable to fight back. She is as much as a team troller as can be.
Earth/storm got too many AoE goodies to neglect in a team. As pointed out before, almost all powers in earth are AoE, same goes for storm. It has been said before that the ill/rad can cover the leroying blaster and another 2 or 3 mobs.. however, earth/storm can lock the whole room down with ease. Volganic gases on one group: held, earthquake/freezing rain on other mob: theyre flippin so hard, they wont fight back. Stalagmites/stone cages on nother group, theyre effectively held. While you might not have the love of PA to absorb the alpha, I rarely miss PA when I play my earth/storm.
So conclusively, I have to vote for earth/storm being one of, if not the best team support controllers out there. Of course, there is no "best". -
well I have received one before, but iirc you only get it if you're lvl 38-40.. but dont pin me on that one
-
true, however, I been on all (public) raids PA bar one or two and I think only once I had to use my group fly to keep people in the air, hence i respecced it out as I didnt feel any other need for it.
-
well, while handy, I wouldnt recommend respeccing group fly in. I did it before for hami raids, but generally most ill trollers got fly already and most of times there are 8 present with fly. So unless you cant fill a PA team with flyers, I wouldnt waste a respec on it.

why do i get the feeling that knockback attacks will look so friggin funny on this map?

People that immediately go "OMG HEROES ARE OVERPOWERED BECAUSE OF DEFENDERS" really need to play in a good balanced villain team.
[/ QUOTE ]
aye... people should play something else than just stalkersa balanced villain team that actually knows how to work together can be very scary indeed.. I been ripped a new one plenty of times by a corrupter/dominator duo.
-
soooo lost, now we got some initial interest, will there be designated teamleaders n stuff?

Despite my growing scepticism of public raids, I can bring along one of my (level 50) controllers:
Okton: Illusion/Radiation - 2 Holds, AM, rad debuffs, Power Boost, Vanguard
Tleollin: Fire/Kinetics - 2 Holds, SB, IR, Vanguard
Gravity's Echo: Gravity/Sonic - 2 Holds, Singularity, Sonic Dispersion, Power Boost, Vanguard
I'm guessing Okt is the most useful because of PA (oh and I get to make fun of Stage too!), but I'm happy to bring along any of them.
I'm convinced that the 2 main requirements for a raid to succeed are to have enough people (mainly for the holding phase) and that everyone follows instructions from the raid/team leaders. When Jiaozy organised his raid (April?), he specifically listed which powers to use for the holding phase (basically only holds and a few buffs). This might help people who feel tempted (like at PG's raid) to spam useless powers which only increase lag and result in a failed raid.

though I wasnt too fond of public raids for a bit as well, I do think that its too good to miss out on. Not cause it's "fun" (apart from the banter.. hell it gave me a forum sig ages ago) but mainly to share the knowledge. If none of the "vets" show up, new people will be put off and after a while hami raiding will surely die. Even more than it died now.
Plus it makes a difference who else is attending. As I know lost as a respectable player, who I'm sure will do a dandy job leading it, the barrier to join is lower.
As for the list of powers.. it helps, sure does. But you will always have those few in the pack that just are too stupid or too ignorant. A raid where (almost) nobody argues and EVERYbody follows the plan, will be a rare occassion indeed. Think I only saw it twice on public raids. -
well you can count me in on any of those TFs.. i'll have a char in those lvl ranges anyway
-
purple santa signin up for jellybashing goodness!
(for those n00bs not knowing who/what i mean, bringin stage: 50 ill/ff)
oh and lost, you'll do fine leadin a raid I'm sure, leading aint really that hard, only requires people to keep the cool and the ability to make people listen.
...ok so it might be hard...
anyway, if you need any pointers, feel free to gimme a shout. Lead one before, co-leader in a few more, teamleader/PA leader in every other except PG's -
say raz, can I borrow your timeshift device so I can make it to this TF?

therefore most raids recently tend to be private raids, unannounced on forums
-
ooooooh own thread (yeah yeah, late reaction, bite me)! anyway count me in for sis p on my kin/elec.
For the rest.. to reply on this thread you have to stay within EULA and forum rules etc right? ...think i'll stay silent in this one -
woop woop! welcome back noiry
and yeah, you ARE just like furniture.. just as flammable -
rules? its simple...
1) fight
2) ....
3) profit
anyway, everything goes in PvP zones.. got a tray of reds? use em. Got auras/shields? use em. AS that poor chap just watching a duel? do it. Its a zone, its war, stay on your toes. Doesnt mean you cant make your own rules, as sometimes I'll just watch a duel for the laughs, especially if fights are getting onesided anyway (e.g. 10 heroes vs 2 vills). Doesnt mean I wont keep vigilant and keep my eyes peeled for any enemy that makes the mistake of "just standing there to watch". -
well, the fact that its a ladder enabled you planning your own time. Its a challenge-accept-set date thing, with scheduled nights for people who dont want to go through that hassle, but prevents the mandatory showup. Chose this system BECAUSE people have lives.. hell, you might be surprised but even I have one.
So for instance, team A challenges B by PM/tell/whatever, they then both set up a date where they're available and fight on that date. Another option is for team A to show up on the scheduled nights and finds team C hanging out there. A challenges C on the spot and they fight immediately. However I cant make a definate timespan if I dont know how many people will show up. Theres a difference for when 4 teams compete or 40 teams compete..
On top of this, I suspect this tourney to go on for at least a month... of course thats when there are more than 4 teams or so signin up -

I'm pretty much up for any PvP dude just need a time and a date

so much talk, yet no team submitted for Suckerpunch! yet.. dammit globey you truly still are the slacker we love ya for -
maybe I can bring the killer threesome that is ice/nrg tank, rad/rad def and elec/elec blaster that day
(btw current lvls is 24 for all 3 of em, but seeing the way we lvl, I guess we'll be around 27 by then)
-
aye I agree.. more PvPers equals more fun imo as fighting the same old can get tedious at times. That was also one of main reasons I decided to host Suckerpunch!, cause S4 was what got most of us into PvPing afaik, as it showed the fun you can have when you PvP with at least a half decent team. I think regular, well-organized PvP events can draw alot of people over to the PvP side.
-
claws can actually be pretty decent in PvP, fast recharge, range..
from the pick of MA or kat, I'd go for MA. The burst damage on MA plus the stuns is just too great to ignore.
Oh and to anybody here saying DM aint too great in PvP.. I got a DM/SR made for PvP and thusfar I wouldnt trade him for anythingstacking touch of fear for fear and the nice acc debuff combined with SR's defbuffs, makes for your enemies missing... ALOT. Still cant stop chuckling bout that spines stalker trying to BU/AS me 4 times before giving up
.

as nobody bothered with signin up yet i'd reckon i'd get the ball rolling
