No. The different forms of currency exist to encourage different activities. If you got rid of merits, fewer people would want to do TFs, since farming would be the efficient way of getting what you want. For a game where it's frequently difficult getting a team together for a TF anyway, removing some of the incentive to do the TF in the first place is not a good idea.
Not a good idea at all. -
I would look at the laws of physics and determine that given the velocity of the bullet, it would take a force far greater than I could provide from behind the gun to alter the trajectory of a bullet in motion.

I approve of this suggestion. I think this would make the architect considerably more user-friendly.

Quote:Parry and Divine Avalanche are attacks, and they're melee. The thought that they're supposed to be deflecting something is forgivable since the animation looks like an attack, but could also look like a parry if by some miracle you were being attacked at the right time. In order to make it seem like you're deflecting things with your bullets, first; you'd have to not be aiming at the enemy, because bullets travel in straight lines, and second; you'd have to have to measure the bullets' path to intersect with the incoming projectile's path, animate the angles properly, and have a deflected projectile animation. That's a lot of calculations that, for an MMO, are just unreasonable. In order to make it look right, the calculations would take up too much bandwidth and system resources. Why's that? Katana and Broadsword's Divine Avalance/Parry have an animation, but don't actually show the attacks deflecting anything.
I don't want to slow the game down in such a way. It would be seriously cool, but for the sake of game performance, I'd much rather just have an attack that gave the enemy a -tohit.
BTW: If your concept for a power set requires a healing bullet, then your concept is dumb. -
There's already a flintlock pistol (which is generally what pirates are depicted using) and a rapier, though rapiers don't really scream pirate to me. I think maybe you were thinking of a cutlass?

My life is separated into two different eras: Before CoH, and since CoH. I'm not going to say that the game single-handedly changed my life, but it did come along at a time where everything was changing for me. Maybe this is why I have such a deep love for the game, since it marked a change in the foundation of my life, and the nostalgia factor is overwhelming. Personally, I think it's more because it's a really great game that allows me to have the super powers I've wanted for the last 29 or so years.

The big problem with deflecting stuff with pistols with how the game currently works, is that you'd have to have the weapon draw animation and firing animations in response to an attack in order for it to make any sense, which is probably too much animation to reasonably expect as a common reaction.
A dual pistol debuff set, on the other hand, sounds perfectly reasonable. -
I just had the mental image of an 8 ft tall hairy ape monster waltzing with a 4 ft tall little girl, and knowing what I know about how the game engine works, let me tell you it'll look really really stupid.

Maybe he's just anticipating being very very busy fixing things on some huge new update that shall remain nameless, and is expecting his inbox to be full to the point of bursting with bugs for him to fix from a sudden influx of testers...

Even assuming the Magic Bank of Awesomeness and Profit were real, I wouldn't put my money there because they'd go broke very quickly. Then the government would bail them out, and they'd go back to giving away lots of free money again and the government would print more money. Pretty soon it takes a wheelbarrow of hundred dollar bills to buy a loaf of bread because money isn't worth anything any more.

A Pogo Stick power pool.
Tier 1: Head Bounce: Minor damage; 10% chance disorient. You bounce on the head of your opponent with your pogo stick.
Tier 2: Pogo Bounce: Toggle; +jump height, +jump speed. You use your pogo stick to get a bit more height in your bouncing. (Basically combat jumping with a bigger bonus but no air control, and it comes with an awesome bouncing on a pogo stick animation)
Tier 3: Super Bounce: Toggle; +jump height/speed. You use your spiffy new rocket powered pogo stick to bounce like crazy. (Basically Super Jump with more height and less speed)
Tier 4: Bouncing Addict Toggle; +res (sleep, stun, knockback.) You've become so accustomed to bouncing on your pogo stick that you've gained impeccable balance and overactive adrenaline glands.
This started off as a joke, but by the time I was done writing it it started to sound kinda awesome. -
I, for one, would be perfectly fine losing a little bit of DPS if that meant I got to use a frickin' flamethrower with my fire blasts.
-
Oh, also, regardless of the price you put on it, the badge should never be available to be purchased, but the other rewards would be okay at a huge ridiculous price.

Hey Lonelyshade:
Your idea sucks a lot, but I think it's awesome that you type in stanza. -
Quote:While I'm normally against the idea of being able to purchase vet rewards, I'd actually be fine with it if you put a huge price on it like this. Hell, I'd probably even eventually catch up on my account to what it should have been had I not been lured away by that evil other ginormous MMO for a few months. I love this game, and I would embrace a scheme to get it such a huge influx of cash.Well 1 $ a month ... is a bit cheap isnt it , well if they want to make it purchasable .
Then make it double the money of a monthly subscription . so 30 $ a month .
Fair deal you can pay extra to buy back loyalty
Or just wait like the rest for the normal price , some crazy people would gladly pay double . -
Agreed, that would be quite nice.

I think new animations would be super awesome.
In fact, I think that new animation styles for a big variety of power sets would be a really great thing to throw into booster packs. Like an energy gun blast style, or wand blast, or even stuff like spellcasting for buff powers or control powers, where big arcane runes show up while you're casting when you activate the power.
Love it. -
Quote:I don't see what's wrong with giving us a TrEAT.Maybe Traditionalist Epic Archetype could explain this positweet:
Quote:Rule 12 for designing MMOs: When naming something the players are going to want to abbreviate, consider the abbreviation as much as the name -
It would definitely be non-positional, but Earth's atmosphere has 'Atmospheric Cushioning,' a Tier 10 defensive toggle that gives +100% defense and resistance to all damage types (except psionic) so it'd have to be both non-positional and untyped.

I was under the impression that 2x weekends already gave double all static numeric rewards, including merits.
