Quote:I can't believe how many people still think /FA is meant to be a survivability set. The self-rez is a nuke and the Immobilize protection is a huge-damage PBAoE.You said that stating that you like something is not stating an opinion. I find that hilarious more than anything.
When you're done with your dictionary, this should help clear it up for you:
http://pbskids.org/arthur/games/fact...sopinions.html
You might want to go through it a few times to get a variety of questions, before you go "correcting" someone else.
Anyway, I have to say I agree with how difficult it is to place the "worst" Brute build. I would probably put /FA as the squishiest and /EA with the most skippables. That's just for secondaries. After seeing the compartive numbers of KM/ on Brutes vs the other melee ATs, I'm tempted to put that as the worst primary. The -damage probably contributes enough to survivability that the real "worst" would still be somewhere else. Like how Energy Melee lacks significant AoE.
I still vote Energy Armor as the weakest secondary. The primaries are all very powerful, with the exception of Energy Melee; sure it hits hard, but it's slow and is out-performed by KM, at least from what I've seen. -
Quote:Willpower is a fantastic example of this. It hurts when your defenses finally close at 28.I have found on low level brutes (because seriously, the armors/defenses on brutes pre-20 bite) that I just take and slot attacks (and slot them mostly for end red), take healing powers, and grind thru to 20. The game pre 20 is a totally different game than post 20. After 20 certain armor types really start to shine against certain attackers. And post 40, it all changes again, because in any kind of major run you either need the perfect armors, or great buffs/heals to make it.

In what other game can I don the mantle of a superhero and defend the city with my friends?
In what other game can I pull a mask over my eyes, summon the powers of evil and smite hundreds of foes at once?
In what other game can I make any costume I can think of and enjoy playing it after entering the game?
I'm here until the streets of Paragon whistle with emptiness. I'm here until the Isles sink into the ocean. I'm here until Praetoria is consumed by war and falls. I'm here until the servers are shut down.
Why? Because I love it. I truly do love this game. It's given me more entertainment than any game I've ever played. The developers actually care (unlike some OTHER gaming companies with wildly popular MMO's), the community is understanding and knowledgeable (trolls are also few and far between), and I just feel powerful when I play. -
I have a 26 Invul/Ice. Fantastic, high-survivability combo.
-
A note or two: FA is easily outdone by Invincibility. Now that said, it isn't not worth slotting +ToHit into Invincibility. The more ToHit you have, the better!
-
I'm fairly new to Radiation, sort of new to Blasters (two at 35, one at 45, a few lowbies). How's Radiation? Anything I can skip, any must-take-early powers, any "use this in this situation only" powers?
Also, what can I skip from Energy?
I plan to take Repulsion Bomb, Temp Invulnerability, and PFF from Force Mastery. -
Some advice for you:
-3-slot Stamina. I can't stress that enough. I assure you you'll notice a world of difference.
-You've gone over the 5-bonus limit for the Crushing Impacts. Strip the slots from Brawl and move them into your armor powers. Those desperately need endurance reduction.
-Are you able to afford the Gladiator +3% IO? It's absurdly expensive. In all honesty you're better off with a less expensive alternative, such as slotting sets into your armors.
Your build is hellishly expensive, but if you can afford it more power to you. -
On that list, the Loyalist Power arc involving Reese absolutely must be in this list. The writing is incredible. Also include the Olympian arc.
Too many have already forgotten how hubris nearly destroyed us all. -Emperor Cole -
Slept terribly, having no luck in the Virtue RP community, but I'm going to snag the Origin pack later. Fair trade-off.

Quote:Yes. I... couldn't get behind it. Not with the 'villain's being the way they were.Heh. Didn't you join the opposite group as your controller?
Or am I mistaking names?
I was known as Maestoso Tuono when I first lead it.
... also how the heck have you been?! XD -
Quote:I was around them constantly. When they first formed they gave off the "we actually want to RP" sense.Agreed.
I ran the hero opposite to them.
And regret it to this day.
After 3 days in their global chat channel I wanted to stab my own eyes out. I'm very sorry you had to deal with that. -

Quote:The Bioluminescent face did that to me. While I was at work. I patched my test client to see the new stuff and @#$%ING KABLAM
You know what WAS scary? Female Face 22 and 23 (I think)...before they patched them and added shaders.
The day they went live I almost jumped out my chair. It was so terrifying and hilarious at the same time!

Quote:Just to ask, what gold-class recipe level range do you get LotG's from? I do the same thing with my Energy-Capped SS/Elec and would love to figure out where those rare buggers come from.I use my SS/Fire just to farm. He only has melee attacks because I havent respec'd out of them, with 4 AoEs and one cone, and a toggle damage aura, he just is a living pain. Because i specifically target fire dealing mobs I only need fire resistance, which is capped at 90% with no oranges. I pop purps for defense. When not atttacking with AoEs I am converting 3 of a kinds to purps. grab 1500 tickets, rinse, repeat. Tons of cash to be made. nice LoTG drops from time o time at the ticket exchange. A decent day farming can bring in a couple hundred mill, sometimes more. Only real danger at any time is boredom.

Quote:I don't play my Fire/Fire Brute to be a tank. I play him like I'm playing a hand grenade. Jump in, do as much damage as possible, die, and then explode back to life and pick off the survivors. So I get the impression that people who want to make Fiery Aura survivable go to town on defense with lots of IO set bonuses, weave, and anything else they can cook up.
I assume there is really no other viable option right? I mean the enhanced resistance of 35% is pretty poor, and getting to around 50% with tough doesn't even seem worth bothering with to me.
I have contemplated going for recharge and hoping I can have healing flames up enough to pull through the hairier fights, but I suspect that won't really cut it.
It's a shame you can't get real set bonuses for resistance. -
Then you cross over in to Custom. The Youthful option, as is, is terrifying. Giant head, huge eyes, tiny chin/mouth. The scariest faces to use it on are the Young Face (that looks 5 years old) for females and Disfigured for males.
-
I've never heard words. I think it's just supposed to be one of those 'yells of power' that some sets have. Signifies the strength inside you and all that jazz.
-
Demons do Fire/Cold/Toxic Damage (the least resisted damages in the game) and -Resist. How could you honestly want more?

Quote:Carnie Strongmen already have the hammer-to-ground animation.Yeah. Unfortunately, those mallets are going to be a lot of your damage output. Otherwise, you're going to have to rely on Propel, which animates slower than both mallets put together and does quite a bit less damage.
Here's hoping the new alternate-animation push gives us mallet-free animations at some point. For that matter, mallet-based Stone Spikes and Tremor would be kinda cool - hit the ground with the hammer, and stuff happens. -
-
Quote:The "Youthful" head shape option is an abomination. I feel like everyone who uses it is secretly an alien.I find it funny that someone would complain about toons with "unrealistic" boobs, but noone ever mentions the abundance of toons who have heads the size of watermelons. I see it sooooo much on Virtue...these toons who have these oversized heads, which are usually perched on top of super skinny bodies. There /is/ a head scale option in the tailor people.. learn to use it.

Adding...
Andret and Korolv
Respectively: Level 45 Broadsword/Regeneration Scrapper, Tech Origin; Level 43 Shield Defense/Battle Axe Tanker, Tech Origin
Korolv:
Quick Info: Andret and Korolv are two extradimensional humanoids discovered by Portal Corps during routine portal explorations. The scientists who found them dubbed their people the "tech spartans" as their species is obsessed with technology and close-range combat. The dominant gender is female, with the males being smaller and less physically imposing. Most of their people are focused on advanced regenerative devices such as armor that repairs incoming wounds. Andret has one of the first models of his people's armor, and is incredibly skilled with it and his weapon, and can outheal nearly every assault made on him. Korolv is a mutant of his species; he is a large and vary well-built male who did away with his regenerative equipment in favor of raw defense. In his armor he weighs just under one ton.
RP Preferences: Combat-oriented SGs. I can rogue/villainify Korolv. Imagine them like spartans with a deep knowledge of the modern world. They love battle, they love hanging out, and they love friendly spars and feasts (of course). They could really fit in anywhere, save for Andret who doesn't have a malicious thought in his head.

Catastrophus, Level 35 Earth Control/Earth Assault Dominator, Magic Origin
Quick Info: Catastrophus' real name is Lancaster Hawthorne Christopherson. While the blood of Oranbegan ancestors beats in his veins, he only grasps the power of one element: a rare mineral called Red Onyx. Not only can it be formed into weapons and spikes, it's also rich in nutrients. What's a guy to do? Open a flower shop. That's right, Lancaster owns two shops. One in St. Martial and one in Cap Au, both called Christopherson Arrangements. Anyone who's tried to rob this store has gone missing.
RP Preferences: A laid-back RPVG that doesn't mind an eccentric, gruff florist. -
Well, here's a quick bump with a list of my most played/highest level/most interesting characters. Screenshots only available for characters I've posted before. Here goes.
Nalrok Ath'Zim, Level 50 Dark Melee/Dark Armor/Soul Mastery Brute, Magic Origin
(Also comes in Mastermind Flavor as a level 38 Demon/Dark)
Quick Info: Stereotypically large and demonic, Nalrok Ath'Zim is a bastion of darkness and a well of patience. When not entertaining himself with the death and misfortune of others, he finds himself socializing and meeting with people/creatures he finds interesting. While his potential for malice is higher than Recluse's potential for having a bad temper, he's always able to keep his calm and usually performs acts of destruction and vengeance with a quiet, serene expression. His personality is the antithesis of his appearance until you cross him, and know the true meaning of his nickname Plague of the Six Winds.
RP Preferences: Social settings, intense combat, dark themes, gory situations. Would be most at home in a magic-oriented VG, or perhaps even a secret/underground society.
-----
Der Wahnsinn, Level 50 Super Strength/Electric Melee/Soul Mastery Brute, Natural Origin
Quick Info: Der Wahnsinn calls himself "The Intangible of Insanity." He always goes on about how this "job" entails he do his best to keep the world's balance of sane and insane to his liking. That said, occasionally he will do something so outlandishly unexpected that it can only be considered insane. His favorite hobby is smashing large structures to pieces during a lightning storm (that he created, no less).
RP Preference: Somewhere he can exercise his strength, craziness and love for random humor.
(More coming, lunch break right now.) -
I thought the same thing, but he (like myself) rolled up and hit 50 way before custom power colors. At that time, Grav was very visually thematic for Harry and it made sense. Now I'm sure he could remake Harry to any powerset he felt like and color it all up.
