I'm not sure which is worse ... The Op's suggestion, or people not agreeing with cheaper prices. I shop at WalMart cause it's cheap. If everything there was $5 more expensive for WalMart improvements, would you still shop there?

[/ QUOTE ]
You don't shop around much do you? I buy very few things at wal-mart. It has nothing to do with wal-marts supposed business practices, I can just get a lot of things cheaper at other stores. I know people who only buy groceries at walmart. Only groceries I buy at walmart is my lipton tea and whenever I need something quick to finish a meal. Everything else can be found cheaper elsewhere. Don't even get me started on Wal-Mart's meat department.
[/ QUOTE ] I like to do my grocery shopping in one stop(except for good meat), and as a whole wal-mart is usually the cheapest. Sure various grocery stores have certain items cheaper, but I don't want to make four stops.
[/ QUOTE ]
I see what you are saying munki. Maybe in a larger town I would do the same thing. Where I live, in a three town area, we have three walmarts and four big grocery stores. It is cheaper for me to leave my house, hit Food 4 Less, Dillons, and Price Cutter in that order. All three have better meat, and I can find everything I need to feed my family for a week. YMMV, but thats just how I shop.
The whole "walmart is the cheapest place to shop" is no longer true. Under Sam Walton walmart was a wonderful place, not just to shop, to work at as well. His kids on the other hand have ruined it.
[/ QUOTE ] I live right in the middle of Dallas-Ft. Worth and I don't have a family to feed as one of my concerns, so I definitely understand why you do it differently. Shopping for one or two people when we split the bill is much easier than providing for a family. -

I don't think the Wiki could handle the surge in traffic if the majority of players knew of it.
[/ QUOTE ] Why not? -
[ QUOTE ]
think any supposition that the majority of the playerbase is accessing tools used by experienced forumites is gravely wrong. Most people have never heard of them;
[/ QUOTE ] I agree. I also feel that is something that should be remedied. Not because people should look before they ask, but because they are fantastic tools that can help improve a person's play experience.
IMO it would be very smart for Paragon Studios to embrace sites like Paragonwiki more than they do. Make a real effort to get the word out about some of the better sites.
We have a good community here, and I feel Paragon Studios does a wonderful job embracing us. But if they were to do more things like I mentioned, it could only benefit them(and us). -

...Dude, an RPers are evil thread.
When was the last time we had one of these? Holy crap.
[/ QUOTE ] I was hoping for something a little more explosive to read. This thread could have been good late morning entertainment. What a disappointment. -

I'm actually hoping they don't crash and burn as badly as I expect them to.
A direct, viable competitor for the superhero niche would help keep the devs honest.
Alas, I fear the dead weight of Mister Balance Vision is enough to sink their ship.
[/ QUOTE ] I hope it is successful too. Direct competition is a good thing. -
I'm would want Freedom/redside. But I would have to probably pay in influence.

So I was thinking now was a good time to sell some more level pacts. Anyone interested in a particular server/side?
[/ QUOTE ] I need more details. I'm not reading 200+ posts to get details like price(is this an auction?), timeframe, server, etc. -

.... Why can't they have us leave Claws drawn while we use Air Superiority! Would this truly break anything....? What is the point of making us redraw every damn time, its so annoying.
/endrant.
[/ QUOTE ] Why take air superiority for a claws character? Doesn't it just lower your DPS? -

Due to more frequent recharge and no end penalty I'm assuming? Any specifics on how that nuke contrasts with the other at's respective nukes?
Thanks Mr. Brannigan
[/ QUOTE ] I belive(someone else can confirm) that Rain of Arrows does more DPS than the other nukes by a mile. -

Things may also change with the expansion coming out. What if when you switch you lose access to that sides epics/patrons? Meaning if a Brute goes hero and has to take a tank/scrapper epic will the be as good? What if a Scrapper has to pick a Patron? -
[ QUOTE ]
No, because it's also assumed, Munki, that you would be able to form your question in a reasonably intelligent manner.
Or, far more likely, you'd *come here* and find out on the Wiki before asking at all.
[/ QUOTE ] I would go to Paragonwiki before to find out info like I mentioned before asking a random person or broadcasting, but not everybody will. Besides, wiki's can be wrong. For example, while trying to find Ice Mistral last night I used paragonwiki. The coordinate numbers were correct, except the last number out of the three was -2210 instead of 2210(btw since I have no experience editing wikis I didn't touch it, so somebody should check it out).
I had to ask somebody to finally find her. The person could have assumed I was being stupid and been a dick, but he just answered my question. To me that is a much better response than assuming I should know it or should have found the asnwer from Paragonwiki(since it was wrong) than being a dick because I have a bunch of vet badges. -

Sweet!! This is one of those thread that people get to pat themselves on the back!! Don't strain yourself.

People need to also keep in mind that maybe the person you're talking to hasn't actually played the faction before. For example, my man account is on the 39 month bade(I think), but I have no idea who to talk to redside in order to respec. I play 99% hero side.
So with my vet badges asking a question like that would you assume I bought my account? -

I am fairly giddy that a thread I started has this many views and more than a handful of posts. Seems I wasn't the only one thinking Archery/Ice

It's called a one time use "level up tokens" and would keep new subscribers.

I would go with archery. Rain of Arrows is just that freaking awesome.

Honestly, I have no idea. But I think(speculation) it is enough that relying on vet badges is a poor idea.
[/ QUOTE ]
I honestly never look at badges. Like, ever. I think I check some random passer by's badges when the topic is raised on the forums and promptly forget about it.
But still, if people meet a specifically poor level 50 character with no veteran badges who doesn't seem to know his left hand from his right... Well, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck... Of course, segregating people purely based on badges is silly, obviously, but I wouldn't say it's a good idea to just discard them as meaningless. Nothing in life is ever absolutely certain.
[/ QUOTE ] I agree. Taken as one factor among many badges can be of some help. I just don't feel using them as the sole determining factor is a good idea(I know that's not what you said, I'm just throwing that out there). -

CDs? Well, unless you download them illegally, generally speaking a nice shiny cd is going to cost you at least 15$ if not more.
[/ QUOTE ] Your overall point is correct, but I just wanted to state that you can buy a majority of CDs for under fifteen dollars.
[/ QUOTE ]
Really? I guess Fry's is overcharging then. Or, maybe, I'm just not looking at the right disks? Dunno, but I can't afford them in either case, unless I'm on a splurge for music. (... or maybe, much of the techno I buy is *imported*... feh)
[/ QUOTE ] Best Buy is usually a good place to go, especially for new releases(DVDs are good there too). Now I haven't bought a CD in a while so things could have changed. Music industry could have done what newspapers did, raise prices when sales go down.
Wal-mart has decent prices, but the stores around me have horrible selecetion. -

New players don't have veteran badges.
[/ QUOTE ] So if I start a new account you'll be able to look at my vet badges and tell how long I've been playing?
[/ QUOTE ]
Here's an interesting data point - how many people have accounts started several years apart? This is not a claim one way or the other, it's an actual question that might bring more meaning to the discussion. Personally, I never remember to check badges at all out of sheer forgetfulness.
[/ QUOTE ] Honestly, I have no idea. But I think(speculation) it is enough that relying on vet badges is a poor idea.
