Single target may just go to SS brutes
[/ QUOTE ] Dark Melee is higher than Super Strength.
I still don't see how anything can produce the damage a blaster can. Anyone have any comparison numbers?
[/ QUOTE ]
I've found this conversation fascinating. I would think that getting mezzed would be murder on DPS.
[/ QUOTE ] I'm talking straight damage. I'm not factoring in survivability and endurance.
[/ QUOTE ]
Roger that. hmmm. Can a fire blaster chain blaze/flares/fireblast/flares/repeat?
[/ QUOTE ] I came up with a perma hasten build earlier in the thread:

If I'm reading it correctly, yes. But what about Havoc Punch and Charged Brawl? Or Energy Punch and Bone Smasher if you go /EM? -
[ QUOTE ]
He also can't necessarily use his melee often unless he invests heavily in melee defense too
[/ QUOTE ] Since you're talking solo DPS, do you mean facing solo size spawns? Because if so, not much defense is needed at all. -

I feel my DB/WP is pretty damn strong and does good damage. She is really good, and I'm currently using a [censored] build that has empty enhancement slots in some of my attacks and defense powers(I'm lazy with this character).

Heroside, I would guess a Fire/Kin running with an Arch/MM would probably be tough to beat.

Despite the fact that he couldn't bring Marvel Universe Online to market.
[/ QUOTE ] From what I understand that was hardly his fault. Didn't that deal get canceled because Microsoft(I think) wouldn't accept subscriber numbers less than WoW?

Or that CO has been delayed twice
[/ QUOTE ] In this industry I hardly consider that worth mentioning.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with you for the most part. But I don't think those two points are really valid criticisms of him. -
Yeah, my fire/kin eats through endurance faster than any other character I've ever used. It's not even close. But it also does massive AoE damage in the later levels.

That's the kind of team I like to scrap with....the one that enjoys carnage and risk and doesn't throw a hissy fit about dying once.
[/ QUOTE ] Agreed. If you ain't dyin, you ain't tryin -
B_I, I'm a big fan of building your(general) characters however you want, regardless of whatever "bad" choices people can make. But, IMO, there is no point in playing a kin if you don't have Fulcrum Shift. The power is that good.
I know you're not that high yet, but I want to suggest Stone Mastery for your epic. Fissure + Flashfire will stun bosses, plus it does great damage. I personally prefer defense over resistance, so I like Rock Armor. Earth's Embrace is like dull pain, and it can easily be made perma with hasten or some investment in set bonuses. -

Er... set up to ghost missions, pick a random scrapper, win?
Ed: Prolly a bit too tongue in cheek, but I doubt most of my scrappers would have difficulty dealing with a 4man posi.
[/ QUOTE ] Blasters are better at that level.
edit: IMO -
dave_p said my point much better than I did.
-
I'm generalizing. Of course nobody should be expected to do insanely difficult tasks alone. But if a stone tank can't make it through a normal mission because they don't get speed boost, then the tank is the problem. It is either a poorly built or poorly played tank. Perhaps saying they are bad players is a little harsh.
I'm starting to get the impression that you're talking about difficult situations, while I'm talking about normal gameplay. If that is correct, then I think we are both right. -

It is a Teen game. Personally i think kids should not even touch that game. It is not for them. Simple as that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well it is up to the parent to decide, that is the reason for the rating system. The only thing I really see that could warrant this as 'teen' is the online experience with other players. The gameplay is certainly E10+.

It says right on the box "Children under the age of 13 are not permitted to play"

One good idea would be to change the (now useless) Base Salvage storage into Recipe storage.
Thank you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Salvage racks have already been changed to hold Invention Salvage rather than base salvage, albeit with a lower maximum capacity of only 30 instead of the previous 100.
I'd be all for a recipe bin of some sort for bases as well though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you sure this is correct? I tried to put Invention Salvage into one of our Base Salvage storage and it declined me and said that I could not store it there.
Of course it still has some Base Salvage in it, this might be the problem.
[/ QUOTE ] It could be two things:
1. That particular character doesn't have a high enough ranking to add/take salvage.
2. You salvage rack already has more than 30(the current limit) items in it. Basically when the change was made from base salvage to only invention salvage, all the bins that exceeded the limit were able to keep stuff over the limit. You just couldn't add anything to it until you made enough room. I still have over 100(I think) sets of the costume salvage sitting in one bin.
also, /signed to your idea. -

MSTFs are a poor example to bring into this discussion.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm inclined to disagree with this point.
I agree that MoSTF is not representative of the majority of the PVE game, but like most MMO end game raids its a place to show how skilled you are as a player, how well you built your toon, and how well you can work together on a team.
Some of the people posting in this thread may have the skill, a good build, and the ability to shift into team friendly mode. However, most of the scrappers I've played with in game lack one or more of these characteristics and end up being a liability to a team.
Let me offer another perspective. Everyone plays because they get enjoyment out of it. The most enjoyable teams I've been on were ones in which everyone was having fun contributing. Things often start to become less fun when rolls start to overlap. On a standard mission map, the scrapper AT can often render the contributions of other players moot.
If I have 1 very happy scrapper running amok and 7 moderately unhappy players who aren't feeling useful, the scrapper is getting the boot--even if I'm the scrapper. The reason is that the enjoyment of the majority of players should not have to be sacrificed for the enjoyment of the one scrapper.
While I get the appeal of soloing AVs, 8 person spawns on invincible, ITFs, or whatever; if the other players are just there to facilitate your fun at the expense of theirs, then you wouldn't be someone I'd be looking to play with.
There is a solution though--compromise. If you hold back the scrapperlock from time to time, and let others enjoy their time in the spotlight you might meet some new friends and develop a better understanding of the game.
If you aren't interested in those benefits then carry on!

[/ QUOTE ] You gotta be kidding me. So in order for my teammates to feel useful, I should kill less? -
Awesome, thanks for that info. I never knew that. Now I gotta go tweak my build.

[ QUOTE ]
Do people truly NEED SB or they will skip the content? Absolutely not, but you cannot say in this game you can do everything available without the help of support AT's unless you go to the absolute extreme of decking out a character and have selected a very specific set of powers.
[/ QUOTE ] It's a good thing I never said that. I'll be more clear since you obviously missed the point I was trying to make.
If you need an outside buff to function, then you are a bad player. That means basic functionality. If you can't run normal missions without somebody else giving you a certain buff, then you aren't very good at this game.
All those specific situations you mentioned was not what I was talking about.
[ QUOTE ]
Do all of these things mean bad players or should we just expect every character in the game to be able to handle any content at all without help?
[/ QUOTE ] You see, that right there was not what I was saying. I never said that, or implied it. You pulled that out of thin air. Nice try.
