I'm one of those who got the MoSTF badge. My badge hunter is a Blaster and I was pretty skeptical about getting this for her, but a number of runs later, I got it, and the next run with my Tank, I got it there too. Fortunately it was before my schedule changed.
But, yes, all PuGs. a lot of the people are the same, (The people 'running' it) but I wasn't known to anyone when I turned up and I didn't know the people I was teaming with. It does work, with patience. It won't happen every run, but it will get you there if you stick with it and put in your best team effort. -
Worth making special note of the fact that you can't taunt the tree while vine-clearing.

Affectionately known as swamp water. I used to do that, before I (mostly) dropped my cola habit. -
Suggestion for Positron: Keep it small...as small as possible, if you're having issues with it.

Wow - can't believe I never noticed this thread before -- good idea. Guess it's what I get for neglecting my home server's forum.

I'm surprised there aren't threads like this on every server, but there don't seem to be. -
If they removed every badge a villain or hero had when they side-switched, I'd still be happy with the option. They could force you to only side-switch level 50's, and make them level 1's on the new side, and I wouldn't hesitate. They could remove the ability to get any further badges, *ever* and I'd be thrilled.
Just give me the choice, any way you have to. -
It's been said. I'm saying it again. Thank you, Positron. I appreciate the information, the willingness to look back on, and reverse a decision.
I do appreciate it. -
Base Repricing
1) How will the repricing of bases affect you personally?
Largish base will get larger...I'll be able to put in a lot of cosmetic things I couldn't've before. The rent changes will make it so I'm not balancing 'what's cool' with 'what is onerous to upkeep.'
My personal SG will finally move beyond the basic plot size, to my immense relief.
2) Will you dismantle your base to gain the additional prestige from the repricing?
Roughly 40% of the base will be dismantled and rebuilt, but that's also due in part to the new size we can afford. The stuff that's staying are the rooms that are hardest to recraft. My persnoal SG will be entirely redone, in all likelyhood.
3) How long would this process take you if you were to engage in this practice?
Large SG...uh...10-20 hours, maybe? The stuff that's getting changed is the easiest to redo. We're keeping the really hard to remake stuff intact. If we didn't...50 hours?
My personal base...5 hours?
4) What are the positive and negative concerns regarding repricing?
Redoing my base isn't a huge concern, but it's a bit annoying. I'm so happy with the repricing that I really don't care that much about the work/playtime involved.
5) How will this feature affect you long term and short term?
Vastly more potential for designing things. I take pride in my bases, and I'm glad we'll be given more to work with.
Base Salvage Exchange to Invention Salvage
1) What is the negative effect on your base for this feature implementation?
Piles of annoyance in converting and storing salvage. Others would have problems with 'security' of salvage, but since we've always had an open-bin policy, I'm not worried. The 30-piece limit is going to be a colossal frustration.
2) What is the positive effect on your base for this feature implementation?
Eventually, this will mean less fooling around with salvage. (Making items to make other items.)
3) How long will it take you to adjust to learning this new system?
Not long. I figured it out on Test fairly quickly.
4) What side effects to this system do you currently see from transitioning the old to new system?
Lots of (other) groups are going to have serious issues with salvage, if they haven't already. People will screw up their horded salvage on occasion as they convert it over before knowing what they're doing.
5) What security concerns do you have regarding this change?
For other groups, lots. (See above) My only concern is making sure my group is okay (and clear) with whatever policy changes we decide to make.
Additional Notes:
Really happy with the Base revamp. I think the item construction (with new recipes) could be better, and there will be frustrations with it. (Get rid of salvage requirements altogether, and it'll solve a lot of issues.) The repricing and rent changes were long overdue, but I'm glad to see them. -
When RP'ing an abrasive character, if other people are RP'ing true to *their* characters, a lot of them are just going to walk away. We did have someone who joined our SG, just couldn't fit in, and took it personally when our characters reacted badly to his. I think you have to be willing to accept that if you're playing a jerk, in-game, like RL, people won't want to be around you.
I play a lunatic. A very goofy, totally silly, utterly anti-emo lunatic. Some people will edge away shortly after meeting him...and I've accepted that. (And I try as much as possible to warn people both in his bio and in his Search Description that that's what you're getting.) People are welcome to play whatever they like...as long as they're willing to accept the consequences if their choices. -
Still crashing from the Server selection screen. A lot. (Once I pick a server, it crashes out and brings up the 'can you tell us what you did to make the world go 'splodey screen.)

I guess you need a DoT toggle or some power on to get them to jump out of the water like the lava dudes do also.

Only if you're too high a level for them to aggro on you. My level 7 can get them to pop up just by getting too close.

My Blaster used Voltaic Sentinel to flush them out. It was almost like fishing. (I guess I was trolling in a manner not usual with the internet.)
As for finding the correct groups on hunt missions, I think they've just shifted enough that we're not familiar with their new stomping grounds. They are definitely out there...we just need to relearn where they come out...and honestly, I kinda like that...it's not just beating up the first ten people you come across. Maybe it was because I was gawking at the changes, but I sort of enjoyed the hunts for once. -
I've run the TF three times, two on live, one on Test, 2 PuGs, one group of friends, which basically amounted to a PuG.
Very different runs each time. One group had little to no difficulty. One was hard, but we bulled our way through, and the Test run was *Extremely* frustrating, but we wound up finishing anyway.
I like the difficulty...the sense that 'We might not be able to do this' makes it exciting...but for the love of Pete...make the armour not be unlockable by this TF. Don't inflict TF's with people who are just sliding through to get the costume pieces. Don't force people who are just looking for some fun play to go through a difficult TF (Or find a 'perfect' group) in order to play with the Roman pieces in Icon. Don't make people wait for, what...35 levels before they can use those (awesome!) costumes.
I really like the TF (Although the eternal ambushes got a *little* tiresome) but the new costume set needs to have some other means of unlocking it. Or at the very least have the TF unlock them for all a player's characters, so a casual player would only have to run the ITF once.
Love the zone. It doesn't suffer undue lag (except in the third mission of the TF) like Grandville. It's a really well-done zone. I just wish my under-35 or haven't-done-the-TF characters could fit in with the costumes a little better. -

Thats right you can now solo a TF.
[/ QUOTE ]
At least two members of the TF have to still be 'doing' the TF...if all but one quit the TF (Not just log out) then the TF will end. This is how I got an SG-mate the badge...we started the TF, I ran through virtually all of it with the other two logged out, and I let him solo the last mission. (I already had the badge.)
Great to see you're back, Gleepwurp. I've had this guide bookmarked pretty much since I found it. The times are, indeed, far too short for most groups, at least most PuGs, but aside from that, I use this guide (And the links) as a frequent reference. I look forward to your Redside Guide, if you ever do one. -
Not all the time, but yes, I've run for long stretches on the Hardest setting, solo.
I'll drop it down for AV's, but aside from that, just about everything else is soloable. Level 42 Ice/Psi. I've been running on simply Villainous a lot recently simply because it's faster to go through arcs that way, but it's not because I have to. -
I would've chosen storyline...but it'd be my own characters' storylines...the ones going through my head and amongst the people I play with that are constantly overwriting what's happening in-game. There are too many incidences of the game trying to godmode my character: telling me what I'm supposedly thinking, feeling, and worst of all, saying. It breaks immersion horribly when the game tries to guess what my characters' reactions to a situation will be.
If that were fixed, then, yes, I'd really enjoy the storylines...I could accept them a lot better. As it is I went with the costumes...they're awesometasticriffic! -
Given that this is the "Mace Mastery" set, I realize this is a stupid question, but is there a mace animation for the armour? I can't stand the thought of an Arachnos mace on my character, none of the other armours fit my character concept, and the general idea of the Patron Powers is extremely...disappointing. However, in the hopes of making *something* out of them, I was considering taking the armour if it had no mace animation to go with it...and completely ignoring the rest of the set.

Ran the mish, got an Elite Boss (Malaise) on solo villainous. He also had a swarm of mobs with him. Got destroyed in short order. Broke out of the clink, peeled off all the other mobs but one, then got beat soundly again.
Broke out again, got beat up again, threw up my hands and walked away.
I like the *idea* of the mayhem missions, and it was fun until I slammed into the brick wall of Malaise, but the stupidity of having to beat up an Elite Boss after every five missions does *not* appeal to me. I run solo, and I can usually take them out with a lot of sweating, and ususally run on Relentless the rest of the time, but this was not doable, unless I'm missing something about the missions that I'm *supposed* to be doing that the mission isn't telling me to do.
Oh, and a bug...dunno if this has been mentioned, but I had a van I couldn't hit right outside the bank. I could target it, and it was *partially* damaged, but every time I tried to shoot it, beat it up, whatever, it would tell me I was out of ranged. (Standing right next to it with a ranged power.) -

Another is the Monkey Fight Club in... Cap au Diable, I think, but again I've not actually seen it, so I can't really comment...

It's in Sharkhead (Shark's Head?). Look for the Natural Store there, and look around for a red monkey spraypainted on a wall. The door there is for MFC. -
I tried. I really did. I was playing Elec/Elec. I couldn't make it work for me with the changes. I gave up and re-rolled into another AT. I'm not sorry I changed over. I'm sad an originally fun character was torn to shreds.
I honestly hope you guys can make it work. After I don't know how many respecs on Test, I couldn't make it fun for myself any longer--it was just no longer for me. -
I remember reading this guide before I had an account and thinking: "Yeah, that sounds like a heck of a lot of fun to play."
I got in the game and ED came out and I thought: "Wow, this seems like a complete waste of time under ED. I'm gonna roll something else. Anything else." And I did.
I thought it was a great guide. I'm really sorry it got nerfed. -
Glad to see I'm not the only one who thought this combination of powers was a good match. While my own build doesn't match up with it in all respects, I'm glad to see that some of my own conceptions of the build matched up with what you thought.
It'll be interesting to see the Kin/Sonic after Enhancement Diversification comes down, both as a solo build and as a group stop-gap to help people recover some of the damage and speed they'll lose.
