  1. Scrappers can be awesome without being force multipliers...

A team of scrappers can be great teammates, play intelligently, save other ATs derrierres without being force multipliers.

Which is good, because by the (almost) universal definition of the term, they just aren't in any significant way whatsoever.

You can still be awesome, useful, and potent team contributors though. No sarcasm at all there.

    But not Force Multipliers. Really.
  2. I get more PuG invites on my Ill/Storm than I do on most of my other characters...some people know what Illusion can add to a team. Some obviously don't. Consider it advanced warning that you're on a team you're probably better off ignoring.

(I still prefer my Mind/Storm, somehow, though, even considering how good Illusion is.)
  3. Used to be some pretty regularly on Sundays fairly recently, but I'm not certain that's still going.

I'd start it, but it's the longest TF in the game and I'd prefer to know the team is full of people that KNOW it's long and WILL stick it out. You know, Veterans and such.
TFs do get run on a regular basis, but they're usually organized more through SGs or through the various channels. (Virtue TFs, Virtue Badges, VU2009, etc....) There are still a lot of successful TFs arranged here, but I find it's more typically done through channels.

Ones like Quaterfield...yeah, probably best to arrange ahead of time due to the scheduling commitment, but I have successfully run it as part of a PUG more than once.

  6. What am I making? A bootload of costume changes.

There really aren't any sets coming out this go-round that are really firing my imagination. If I hadn't given away a certain name, I might've made a claws brute, but I'll admit my record on keeping an interest on brutes is not great anyhow. I might actually take my Elec/Shield brute and turn him to Shield/Elec Tankering. Not sure about that, though, as I do have a baby shield tank already.

Very excited about the power customization...once I get all my characters tweaked, I might turn towards more seriously considering new alts.
  7. Didn't they announce (officially or not) that they were working on something for alternate post-50 development of characters outside of adding levels?

Too lazy to go check...I might be totally out to lunch on that.
  8. Ideally, what I'd like to see is a few colour-customizable options to choose from that work along similar lines to the current power. (Like all-rock version A, all-rock version B, Crystal A, Crystal B, etc...) Either that or an aura or overall texture put over the costume.

I know that's seriously unlikely, but I'm a bit worried about the idea of just pasting rock bits onto a costume...I'm not a fan of the non-Granite armours, and I really wouldn't like to see Granite go that direction. (Excepting the Psi armour, which is pretty decent.)
  9. If things go seriously south, I want a good Dark or a Storm on the team. Of course, if I have a good Dark or Storm on the team, it takes a -lot- of stupid to make things go south.

I play a lot of Storm characters, but I must admit I'm not a -great- Stormer. Takes a lot of practice to get right and doesn't play like any other set, really. Storm gets a bad reputation mostly from that, I think.
  10. It was kind of immersion-breaking for me to see all those global handles tacked on to the end of names. Here, I play 'Snare' and there it would've been, 'Snare@Mrwrk.' It just didn't feel like I was a hero...it kept poking at me telling me I was just playing at one. (Which obviously I was, but I thought it was annoying that it was reminding me all the time.)
  11. Tried it, but the gameplay isn't for me. Not a bad game, just not what I'm looking for.
  12. I'm going to have to remake my old Defense-mad Blaster build. Thank goodness for dual builds.

Saturdays are really tough for me to make nowadays, but I'll try to get in a couple sometime after i16. On the plus side, I've gotten a Rad/Archer defender and a Grav/Force Field Controller to 50 since the last MoSTF run I've made. So more options to throw in the mix.

Been a long time, but I miss the Master runs.
  13. Listening to it now, but I can already tell it's nowhere close to the worst in the world. What they're missing is the fact that they're deliberately trying to make it bad...and the worst music in the world has been unintentionally bad.

This has variation...if there's something bad, you know you can wait a little and it'll at least change. Conversely, the worst song in the entire universe in my mind is a version of "Black is the Color of my True Love's Hair." It is a monotonous, atonal, free form jazz piece which consists of -nothing- but 14 minutes of a drugged out singer wailing the single word "Black!" over and over and over while someone plays a piano, with all the precision of dropping a small sack of potatoes on the keyboard over and over. I'd listen to the kids screaming about random holidays for an hour any day rather than be forced to listen to BitComTLH again.
  14. Love the changes, moving on to my one concern, the email issues.

Am I wrong in thinking you don't need someone's permission to /friend them? (as opposed to /gfriend) Seems totally silly to allow someone to /friend you, then email you, and won't stop spam at all. Seems even sillier to make us go through every one of our characters and /friend every one of all our friend's characters just so we can circumvent the spam.(which won't happen with /friend) Use the global name as a test...I doubt most of us use /friend that much at all, currently.

Common sense would seem to suggest the global friend...I'm just...shaking my head at using a character's friends.

But the rest is glorious, and much appreciated.

Yup. Saw that exact same broadcast in Cap...although it was two or three years ago for me. Same with the anti-RP'er flaming. It's been with us a while. It'll stay with us, sadly.

I think the Elec/Fire has it. Not only do you have three seconds of animation in stabbing range, but then you do nice slow damage over time so they have plenty of time to remember that they hate you.
Elec has the single-target hold though, which is extremely useful mitigation while soloing.

I've got a Sonic/Rad Defender...and...yeah, can't think of a better choice than that. So many powers that are team-dependent.

I know, I know, beat the dead horse...
I've run across people being deliberately offensive since long before AE came out. I see less of it now, actually, than I used to, but my teaming habits have changed a bit since then.
  18. Leave the team.

    Report the offender.

Discussing with them is pointless. If what they said was against the rules (or, in this case outright illegal) then the GMs can deal with it. I've never seen anything accomplished by discussing something in-game. Don't take on the stress. Move on.

[u]Brutes[u] only become noticeably imbalanced when their caps are actually considered because they're capable of overshadowing or equalling both Scrappers and [u]Brutes[u] in every single way at the same time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Uhm...

    >.>
    <.<

I would HOPE that Brutes = Brutes. Though how Brutes > Brutes or Brutes < Brutes...

    My brain just fell out...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe he's talking about Brutes versus Energy Aura Brutes...
  20. For everyone who says, "There will be no more of X archetype" there will be enough who say they prefer it.

I hate Corrs. I have one, and I think he's something like level 4. I've tried a lot, and deleted a lot. Hated them all. I love Defenders, though there was once a time I couldn't play them. I play both Tanks and Brutes, for different reasons. I'll still play both after GR.

You may see less of one or another over time, but none of them will be rendered obsolete...except in the minds of people I'd really rather not team with anyway. "Oh, he says he doesn't want my Defender Because he's looking for a Corr? Whew, good thing I found out he's not someone I want to team with...."

Anyway...if, hypothetically, an AT disappeared almost entirely, and no one wanted their playstyle anymore, The Devs *would* step in to make adjustments to them, dontcha think? Better to see how they stack up and make adjustments than to keep people from having choices.
  21. [ QUOTE ]

Kind of weird though seeing RPr's everywhere and learning what "(( ))" means. The RPr's seem ok, thought they might have a elitist complex, but It's cool when I try and play along.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Some have an elitist complex, some don't. Just like non-RP'ers.
  22. For what it's worth, the build I keep hearing mentioned for GMs is Illusion/Rad.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
    qr:

I've never been a fan of market merger for a number of reasons, but a merge would make my market dream possible:

Segregate the market by location. Talos is a different market than Atlas which is different from Mercy, but Champion Talos is the same as Freedom Talos is the same as Victory Talos.

Whole new market strategies would occur, micro market manipulations that can be started or thwarted by (and I mean this in the proper meaning of the word ) arbitraging the various consignment houses.

Better yet, make one of the Blue and one of the Red consignment houses equivalent. So if you want to port an item, you can buy it at the WW in Talos, carry it to the WW at Kings (which is attached, say to the BM at Mercy) and sell it, buy it in Mercy, carry it to Martial and sell it there.

Now that would be fun and would open up all kinds of interesting things to do in the markets.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ugh...I'd -hate- to have to flit between markets to check prices on each item...I think this would drive people away from the market in droves. Make it more user-friendly, not more fiddly.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
you can't come to the market forums and say "cheaper". too many greedy people here for that and you'll just get flamed. trust me. (i agree wityh you though) everything is too high. i'll never spend those prices.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is you complaining about greedy people, and insinuating the prices were their fault. (Since you're saying 'here' I kinda assume it's the marketeers you're referring to.)

Now you claim you were blaming drop rates, when in fact you were insulting people. (And you worry about people flaming you?)

    *shrugs*

    Cold or FF?

    [ QUOTE ]

Some people find FF's over use of knockback powers absolutely annoying and its sounds as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

People who can't use KB are a problem with the player, not the set, though that does affect perception of the set, which can affect your teaming options. (Unfair as that is.)
