I forgot to say sorry to those that applied for getting your hopes up. Who knows, my mind might change within the 4 months. But even if it does, I won't be resuming this competition for a while.

But I have quit and come back twice in my 3 years (almost) on CoH. And my 'time away' only ended up lasting a few weeks last time so you never know...

PrincessDarkstar, my stupid dad had bought 6 months subscription for me (despite me telling him not to bother and just to pay for 1 month at a time) and thats why my account doesn't run out for ages. But I'm only going on the game now and then when there's nothing to do, and tend to log off after about 5 minutes

Due to lack of interest and the fact that I'm quiting the game come August when my account expired, I have decided to scrap this competition altogether. I will probably do some costume competitions instead now and then instead, sorry for any inconvenience caused.

I'll start by cutting right to the chase. You could win up to 200 million influence! And a minimum of 20 million! Read on to see what the hell I'm on about.


Mr Wuffles' Big Inf Event

To celebrate my Claws/Regen scrapper being IO'd fully, I am holding a mass event in which a few chosen heroes from the union server will compete with each other to win big inf prizes.

But what exactly is it? This event consists of many competitions. Each competition will yeild points and at the end of the event, the hero with the most points comes first and so on. It will kind of be like a league table.

Due to the fact that I am putting a lot of influence into this competition, I have to regretfully limit the size of the event to 10 heroes. Those who will compete will be selected through a process which will be explained further down.

The event will run from June 1st (1/6/'09) until October 1st (1/10/'09). There will be various competitions held and a time limit given to complete them, this will vary with each competition. Due to the length of this competition, I would ask that you only apply if you will stick with it. Each competitor is allowed 3 'passes' where they can skip a competition and get the points allocated to last place. However once these 3 passes are used up, if a competitor misses another competition then they will be disqualified and the prize for last place will be split amongst the remaining places. (E.G. If one hero drops out, the last prize of 20 million will split and each prize will go up by roughly 2 million.) Note: If you can't compete in a few competitions and have used your passes, you must let me know in advance. For good reasons I might let you stay in the competition.

The Prizes

1st place = 200,000,000
2nd place = 175,000,00o
3rd place = 150,000,000
4th place = 125,000,000
5th place = 100,000,000
6th place = 75,000,000
7th place = 60,000,000
8th place = 50,000,000
9th place = 40,000,000
10th place= 20,000,000

Prizes will be given out sometime after October 1st. A specific date will be chosen near the end of the competition.

Competitions Held
I don't want to reveal too many details about the competitions now but they will cover a wide range of categories, both in-game and outside the game. A few of these categories are : Art (drawings etc.), Creative (bio writing, short story etc.) and of course, a costume competition. There will be ten competitions held throughout the event and everyone can pick up points just by trying. (The point system will be explained more closer to the date).

How To Apply
Now the part where you see how to get in with a chance to earn a lot of influence. Since I am only having 10 competitors, I had to come up with a way to filter through all applicants and pick those I think will make the competition interesting and won't give up halfway through. All applications should be sent to me by email (mr.wuffles@gmail.com) or alternatively,you can send an in-game E-mail to Mr Wuffles. The subject should be 'Competition - Application for <insert hero name here>'. Below are some guidelines as to what should be in the email:

-> Character you will use, give the name, archtype, level and powersets. This is because if possible, I would like to have a variety of heroes in the event rather than 10 scrappers or something like that. Also you must use the same character for any in-game competitions for the duration of the event, so choose wisely. If you delete the character you won't be able to compete in any in-game competitions.

-> What you will use the influence prize for. This is just out of curiosity so I can think about prizes in future events (yes by the way, if this goes well I will do it again).

-> If you have any links to websites that contain drawings or stories or anything done by you (e.g. deviantart, wordpress etc.). This can let me see your talents so once again, I can get variety into the competition.

-> If you will stay comitted. Proof can be given if you wish (e.g. a link to a nanowrimo/dramo page with work you did for it or any other large, long duration projects). This is not to say that if you havn't done one of those that I won't pick you, I want to mix it up a bit.

-> Any applications posted in this thread won't be counted.

Well here's the first bit anyway.




Silence. There’s always silence in here. Ayakaro leans against the tall hexagon pillar behind him. He’s breathing heavily. Keeping his mouth shut for a moment he listens carefully for any noise. Silence. Face turning red, Ayakaro struggles to hold his breath. He tilts his head back in attempt to let the air flow fully into his nose, closing his eyes while doing so. He continues to hold his breath, still listening intently for a sign of movement. Ayakaro knows that soon he will have to open his mouth to breath, but he also realises that in doing so he will make noises gasping for air. He would rather pass out now than facing the penalty for giving his position away. He can’t take it anymore. He tightens his eyes to try and hold himself back. He is trying so hard that he doesn’t hear the soft thud of a pair of feet landing next to him.

“Having a break are we?” The voice of his captor is deep and filled with hate.

Ayakaro can feel the man’s blade pressing against his throat. He slowly reaches for his own weapon but his hand meets that of his captor.

“Did you really think I would be that foolish?” The man laughs to himself.

The cavern they are in suddenly lights up. The man sheaths his blade and Ayakaro relaxes. The light being produced from the torches that line the walls of this cavern are blinding. Using his hands to protect his eyes from the glare as much as possible, Ayakaro looks around at all the other pillars, trying to find his bearings. He knows it’s impossible to tell your position in a giant cavern filled with identical pillars. So does everyone else in The Underground. But they always try to figure out how far they got.

“Poor poor Ayakaro, failed again have we?” The man has a wicked grin on his face. He seems to enjoy Ayakaro’s torture.

“It took you twice as long to get me this time. What’s the matter? Did you get distracted by something shiny, Bleck? ” Ayakaro glares at the man, trying to suppress his rage.

“No need to insult me when you can’t even succeed in one physical task set for you. Besides, I was following you from the start.”

“Shut it!” Ayakaro bites down on his tongue. His hatred for this man, known as Bleck, growing with each second.

“Or what? Are you going to overpower me?” Bleck is still grinning and takes a few steps towards Ayakaro so he is standing over him.

“Back off!” Ayakaro is talking to Bleck’s chest. He slowly backs away.

“Marlok isn’t here. What are you going to do without your bodyguard?” Taking a few more steps forward, Bleck draws his blade.

Ayakaro tries to retreat again but backs into a pillar. He’s trapped. Bleck comes near him and holds his blade up against his throat like he had done before.

“What are you going to achieve from this?” Tears spring into Ayakaro’s eyes as he says this.

“Don’t try to talk your way out of this. It’s about time somebody deals with you. I’m fed up of all the special treatment you get.” Spit flies out of Bleck’s mouth as he talks. He gently leans on his blade with his chest, making it slowly cut Ayakaro’s throat.

“P-please!” Ayakaro is gasping for air, blood is trickling down his throat.

“What’s wrong? Does the poor baby want his mommy?” Bleck drops his blade on the ground and with both hands he grabs Ayakaro by the head and lifts him of his feet. He presses his face against Ayakaro’s so that their faces are pressing against each other. “Your type sickens me!” He flings Ayakaro against the pillar, his head smacking against it. Ayakaro collapses to the floor in a heap, not aware of where he is for a moment. Bleck stoops down and pulls Ayakaro’s face over so that they are looking eye to eye. Ayakaro spits blood in his face to try and blind him momentarily. He knows that Bleck will make this last as long and painfully as possible. He scrambles to his feet and tries to run. But he is still concussed and trips over his own feet. Bleck is towering over him again. He clenches his fist and prepares to break Ayakaro’s nose. He reaches his arm back behind his head for maximum power but as he is about to extend his arm he freezes. Ayakaro can see a small wrinkled hand which has a firm grip on Bleck’s fist. Before he even realises what happens, Bleck is flying through the air and crash lands against a pillar. Bleck collapses to the ground, his body crushing his head. Ayakaro is sapped of energy and can barely keep his eyes open. Bleck is the same. The pair lay opposite each other, both motionless. The only movement in the cavern is that of an old man who walks over to Bleck, checks that he is still alive and then does the same to Ayakaro. He rips off a small piece of the maroon robe he’s wearing and covers Ayakaro’s slit throat with it.

“You’re going to be fine.” The person’s voice is old and shakey.

Ayakaro struggles to keep his eyes open. He squints to see who is saviour is but all he sees is a blurred face. “Kontralo?”

The man chuckles. “If only my dear boy. If only.” He places his right hand over Ayakaro’s face and uses his ring and index fingers to close his eyelids. “Rest. You’re going to need it.”




So... Any comments? This is my first proper attempt at a novel and it's quite hard just to keep going with it as it's a slow progress so any comments will be greatly appreciated.

Some of you might have noticed now and then a thread made by me which mentioned me writing various stories etc which died quickly. This has been because as part of an English project, my teacher is forcing me to write a novel (since I lose faith in my novels what with the amount of time it takes to make them and so on...)

I know there are websites for sharing creative writing but I can't find any (with my bad web searching/ short attention span...) Anyhoo! Would anyone be able to reccommend a site which would be good for getting criticism back? Also if anyone would like to see the first bit and give me criticism that'd be great, but it isn't related to City of Heroes.

I say struggle through to 46, then bridge for people (sidekicking their other account characters) while they farm. Then once you get to 48 just farm like madness :P It doesn't take too long to find a farm team if ya sit in pergrine and just keep saying it on broadcast that you want one :P

And wait until level 50 befoer you make tonnes of new characters. It took me a month to get past level 10 because I was such an altoholic :P

It took me 2 years to get my first level 50 so I know the annoyance of grinding. It also took me 2 years to get a level 40 so you aint so bad :P Just get in teams, you don't necessarily need supergroups. You will easily get the last 10 levels if you just team. I also recommend joining the sal's badgehunter channel where you will often find Imperious TF teams forming.
