... but when all it comes down to is finding a target you can attack then fingering your number keys like you're playing the guitar...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Pets will always have a target if there is one available. For me, it's not stop action because there's almost always someone who has a Singularity, Dark Servent, Decoy, Imps, etc up and I just target through them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not a problem of not finding a target, it's a problem of finding a target you can ATTACK The Rikti have this annoying tendency to teleport in, then spend the next 10 seconds standing around intangible until I can actually attack them. Whether that's caused by server lag or an overly long lockdown on their teleport in animation I cannot say, but my henchmen are in the same boat - they pick a target and sit around waiting for it to "unlock." That's EASILY the most annoying part of the whole event.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree. This is especially bad when spawns overlap - you'll be fighting a Rikti, Tab target switch, and you can't attack because that one isn't 'in' yet. Then you have to Tab around, trying to find one of the aliens that are blowing up all your stuff. Very frustrating.
  2. The Coming Storm is a person and is sending you the notes so that you don't help Ouroborus kill him. It's SO obvious.
  3. Gilgamesh was a writer and Statesman wasn't the original head of CoH, he was given it after the original guy left (or was kicked, I'm a little hazy on that.)

If they designed CoH 2 so that existing CoH toons could be ported over to it somehow, I think they might have a better time of it with a sequel.

What I'd like to see from any Coh2 is essentially paragon and the RI from CoH1, but with shinier gfx etc, and another 3or4 times as much geography and content.

This would be the smart thing to do. Create the new game engine and port over the customers characters. That way the playerbase doen't get split up between to versions of the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This. I'd see it as "The New City of Heroes" instead of "Something to play besides City of Heroes".

I remember the Devs (I think Statesman specifically, but don't quote me) talking about expanding to the World of Heroes concept, allowing players to go, well, all over the world. I think that it'd be a great concept and a ton of fun, but also a ton of work. Every "zone" (region on Earth) would need its own story, its own villains, and so on. It wouldn't make sense for the Circle of Thorns to be in China, since Orenbega is beneath Rhode Island. However, it would be cool to investigate the roots of Arachnos, the 5th, and the Council in Italy.
  5. Hooray! You caught one! Now, we move on to how to clean and gut your catch- wait, he got married?

Oh. Congratulations! Just don't try to hang her on your wall.
  6. Oh. You're just better than everyone else.

    Now it all makes sense.

... would make more sense in "Suggestions" or "Forum Games", though....
  7. Actually, without the mustard gas weakening him, Marcus would have been much more active in the war and would have ended up being sniped and dying in Stefan's arms. Then Stefan would have gotten powers all by himself (being shot by a radioactive bullet?) and become the best superhero ever.

And that's why we have to kil skuls. Stefan is a much cooler villain.
  8. Well, when you consider the dimension-swapping capabilities of Dyne, plus the whole new time-travel aspect of Ouroborus: Kermit is part of a new breed of Trolls who got off Dyne, went back in time (to before CoH was technically 'born') and then swapped to our universe.

Yeah, I wonder why they stopped doing the Times. Seemed interesting enough to me the scoop aside.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The writer moved on to another job, if I recall correctly. There may have been another reason why it didn't continue with someone else though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Arctic_Sun moved on.

The reason why it wasn't done more often is that it is a nice to have that required dev / writer time to check that what came out in the Paragon Times didn't violate the lore bible.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, no - Gilgamesh "moved on". Arctic Sun took over, and also eventually left.

For any old timers that remember Gilgamesh, you may notice that I still use his avatar. He currently works, last I saw him, on Duals.

Sick because they are so evil or sick because if this was Fallout 3 you would have murdered most of your contacts for giving you lip?

How do you slip a live grenade in the pocket of someone in skin-tight latex, though?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Very carefully.
  11. Post deleted 'cause I'm dumb.

And people look like other people to me. :P
  12. The post is still stickied on the Justice forums. Unique Dragon himself has posted in it several more times and, to my knowledge, is back on CoH today. Or maybe he left again. But there *is*, in the back of the thread, an explanation of the original post by UniqueDragon. It's.. kind of a letdown, but still.

The game was made by Americans ............. shhhh!! Intelligent people talking.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's amusing that you didn't get the reference. It's comical that you acted condescending over it. You are quite the laughable fellow.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yeah, old-time posters! *high-five*

  14. Just remember, folks: the Devs HAVE to get rid of farming. Farming, and any other sort of exploit. If they don't, the game will be GONE TO THE AMERICANS!!1!

ZOMG Mr_Samoa! Anti-Cat, is that really you? Woah! Nice to see you again!

Yep, it's me. I took a long, much-needed break from the forums, and now I mostly lurk. Good to see you, too, though

    Continue with the thread! <o.o>
  16. A day later than I should have posted it, but Excaliburst's First adventure is up:

    The Skull Smash-and-Grab
Listening to her police radio, Emily got the word on a heist: the Skulls were raiding the First National Bank! A bank teller had managed to get the alarm off in time, though, so the police had the building surrounded. The only problem is, the Skulls managed to keep some hostages and a more specialized touch might be required. Excaliburst is sent in to stop the villains.

    BAM! POW!
After an exhausting battle, all the Skulls are defeated and the hostages are freed. One of the people saved was the bank teller who originally set the alarm, and he warns Excaliburst that the leader of the Skull attack ran out of the back entrance as soon as he heard sirens.

Emily, wanting the first case to be a clean one, sends Excaliburst into the nearby sewers (much to his dismay) in search of the Boss. Excaliburst quickly finds him, but taking him out is harder than he'd hoped- the Boss is a meta!

    KA-BOOM!
Excaliburst emerges victorious, having defeated his first really super-powered foe. On the Boss' jacket, he finds an empty vial with a Skull gang logo on it. Emily wants to know if it maybe had something to do with the Boss's powers, but turns it over to the police in an effort to build trust with them.

    Smart girl.

Also, you're right, Slick. I'll drop a PM to see if I can get it moved.

See, this is a good post from the type of person that I love to hear from. It's people like her, Arcanaville, and all the not-Razoras people in this thread that make these forums awesome. <3.

Saying Rachel and Arcanaville are from the same group of posters is just... wrong on so many levels...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    And yet, so right.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Hey everyone! Just got back from reinstalling my operating system. Ignore Razoras. I think he just left off an S from his name to avoid the word-filter on names.

Anyway. Yeah. I was a "rebel" in high school. Got accused of being 'gay' in elementary and middle school for being a geeky tomboy. So I guess eventually it stuck.

Now I'm still a tomboy, but I'm grown up and have learned from a lot of my mistakes. I'm willing to share them with people who are

    A) Curious about me
    or
    B) Headed down the same path I walked

People like Razoras don't care. They're too busy looking for the negative. And, being an unabashed optimist, I'll never se things through his eyes. I really hope none of you do, either.

  19. Jumping in late, too:

My hair bothers me. It's longish in the back - long enough that it bothers my neck, but not long enough to tie back yet. What's worse is that it seems like it's stopped growing.

On the plus side, I have a *rockin* hair flip. For reference, see this pic of me!

.. ok, so that's Leon. But my hair really does look pretty close to that.
  20. There are dozens of characters that play solely on Mission Architect content, and dozens more players that have used MA to make their character's origin stories. But I felt that the Architect system was capable of much more, so I combined the two concepts and took them one step farther, creating the Custom Career Project.

My plan is to fully utilize Mission Architect to, as the title implies, create my character's entire career, from level 1 to level 50. My current plan is to release a new set of arcs once a week (assuming nothing drastic happens to my personal life, this should not be a challenge in itself) that tell the story of the life and times of Excaliburst, a Dual Blades/Invulnerability Scrapper on Triumph Server.

Excaliburst, aka Jefferey Reynolds, was a young child when he found his mystical swords. The swords are powerful tools on their own, and provide a nearly impenetrable armor around the user. He found these swords while playing by a stream with his two best friends, Emily and Martin. A group of Contaminated had escaped from custody and made their way to the area where the kids were playing. Jeff found the swords and fought off the Contaminated to save Emily, but Martin fell into a never-before-seen hole and was never seen or heard from again.

After losing his best friend and encountering Contaminated at such a tender age, Jefferey because traumatized. He developed agoraphobia, or fear of the outdoors. He spent years of his life never leaving his house. But he kept the mystical swords, which had their own ideas. The swords were noble and semi-sentient, and nagged Jeff to do good deeds. But Jeff's severe phobia outweighed the wants of the swords, and he stayed put. But when Architect Entertainment announced exactly what their system was capable of, Jeff knew he had found his calling. He spent weeks in Architect Entertainment, slowly acclimating himself so that he could feel comfortable in the building. Now, Jeff uses Mission Architect to create simulations where even he can save the day.

... That is, until something goes wrong.

All of Excaliburst's adventures take place in Mission Architect. He attempted to use the program to make simplistic scenarios where he could be heroic, but soon events took a turn for the worst and forced the simulations to become much more real.

Currently published is the Origin Story of Excaliburst. Search for that title, @Mr. Samoa, or "CCP" to find it. As I said, I plan on posting new arcs about once a week. These arcs will form a dynamic picture, with evolving characters and threats. Some of it will be general adventures, as you might find in the rest of MA, but there will be over-reaching plot lines and stories through Excaliburst's career. I will be using this thread as a blog/journal about Excaliburst's exploits and what stories are currently up/where the plot currently is. If I do it right, this thread should read like a novel that you can play through as your own characters. (One note: The missions *are* geared towards Excaliburst. What this means is that characters might call him 'Jeff' instead of '$name', so if you like to have your character specifically in the mission, this may put you off.)

I heartily welcome everyone and anyone to play these missions right along with me, or from any perspective that they might choose. The missions will be up only for a short time each, but constructive criticism is still appreciated and listened to. Any comments can be sent directly to me at @Mr. Samoa or left here, in this thread. Enjoy!

    Blue Steel Facts

For Blue Steel's most famous "actual" encounter, see my arc, "The Sad Story of the Clockwork King", in which Blue Steel is directly responsible for the creation of the King. It's based on in-game canon.

Besides that, there really isn't a whole lot. There's some plaques that give a few brief descriptions of encounters with folks like Tub Ci (Tsoo leader) but besides that, he's pretty much just there.
  22. That is a nice mug in pic 2. I want one!

But really, that looks awesome! ... what's in it?
