when it comes to brutes im always thinking "Battery" By Metallica.
that line about "pounding out aggresion, turned into obsession. cannot stop the battery." always makes me think they were talking about brutes. -
Quote:This.Ninja Run is a good main travel power. Just know ahead of time that any "Master of" runs for Task Forces or Strike Forces or Trials will eliminate it from use. So you might be out a travel power! But if you don't do those, then you don't have to worry. Also you can always buy a jetpack at anytime and transfer it to your low level toon for those trouble spots like the Tower spire map in Orenbega.
the only time i've run to trouble was during a "Master of" Khan TF run.
i fell into a pit of rubble on the boomtown map that i couldnt jump out of. i had no travel power since i had relied on my Ninja run with my build. mind you even if i had superspeed i dont think i coulda jumped out of there.
i'd love to see the jump pack and ninja jump become REAL inheirants and not get locked out for Masters TF/SFs. -
to get a second freespec per active build just go with this tried and true method we used to use circa issue four.
roll a second character with the exact same AT, power sets, etc. Come as close as you can to the original name for said character. using i's for "L"s or zeroes for "o"s and such if need be.
then level it up to the same level as the original character.
now everytime a freespec is given out you'll get a second one for that character.
because in the old days we didnt have a secondary build to work with.
hell, go back to issue one and we didnt have RESPECs period. -
<passes Obsidious the Salt>
we all been there.
GR is up, its live and its gonna be crazy. -
i dunno. GR could go live a day early.
City of Villians had a 3 days head start for pre-orders if i recall correctly.
though that was advertised as being a bonus as well. -
i did a double feature on Friday starting with Scott Pilgrim Vs the world then on to The Expendibles.
in short. Scott Pilgrim was amazing. i will likely go see this again in the theater (something i NEVER do). i loved the writing, editing and pretty much everything about it.
The Expendibles was meh with only a few notable action sequences (Terry Tate being a high point), most of the movie felt like it was a string of cameos wrapped in a thin plot. and the ending ... urgh.
i was actually shocked that the Expendibles beat out Scott Pilgrim. well hopefully word of mouth will shift their places in all of this. -
when you exemped to do a Task force you didnt get no xp ...
and you had better PRAY you're lowbie had a rock solid connection or you'd get kicked the moment he DC'd even for a moment.
i remember when Temp powers were rare. like maybe 3 missions in the 30s rare.
we didnt have vet powers, origin specific temp powers.
we had brawl and we were grateful for it. -
For the same reason theres no Energy Melee Scrappers, Spines Tankers or Ice/Ice Stalkers.
devs only know. likely they havent gotten to it yet in proliferation. or wont get it for some reason or another. -
theres a reason Aurora Borealis is also called the Northern Lights.
i used to look at them every morning on my walk to school. -
Just like the title says: I'd love to have a Day job progress bar for that characters current day job location on the character select screen instead of trying to guess when i have to move my toons to another location if i'm not actively playing them on a regular basis.

I Consider the Game Beat whenever i start getting bored with it.
I've got a 50 of each and every AT. i've got almost a 50 of each Tanker primary.
sometimes i'll PL to try and soem kind of loot (purple or simply inf.) other times i'll run a bunch of TFs at every chance.
but every now and then the annoying sensation that i've been here and done this way too many times (namely i start falling asleep even when rested) to count and THEN i consider the game beat. so i take a lil break, just enough for a new issue to come out and then its all shiny, new and in desperate need on being conquered, mastered and beaten again -
i STILL get a giggle whenever i see them in Hazard zones.
they always look like they JUST got trashed.
"why did you build that there? you knew it was only gonna get <censored> up!" -
if my character had to explain lag, rubberbanding he'd blame it all on the hootch he drinks.
rubberbanding? what, ya never seen a flier stagger in mid air before?
DCing? he passed out drunk, and if he should reconnect then he popped right back up (i've seen the odd drunk do that) and ready to party. and if he doesnt reconnect, well then he's passed out cold. -
Ding!
gratz ....
wait ...
i been playing the same game for how long?
good on ya CoH. -
and so the wait begins for the servers to come back up as the updater patches the game client and the glee of a new issue going live begins anew.
-
it varies toon to toon.
a lot of the time i figure out if i need a new toon to begin with and what set i want to start with. then i figure out 6 or 7 different builds with various secondaries and decide what works best (balanced, least holes or just has a decicive focus in one direction).
ie: An Empathy/Sonic Defender was a Navy medic assigned to a Marine unit.
Electric/Electric Scrapper/Blaster for End drain.
Illusion/Rad for soloability that i built a law enforcement background around.
.
i've deleted alts that i liked initially but found later that the concept or power sets weren't working as well together as i'd hoped.
usually by 20-30 i know if its something that'll stick around.
another BIG thing about power set selection is wether or not i've used it for another charcter. it's rare that i'll use a primary or secondary that i've already used somewhere else. -
mids on iphone would be cool. chunky though, i imagine.
i'd be more interested in a recipe/IO spreadsheet database so i can keep track of what all i need for my various alts (i can never remember if i need 16 sets of bonesnap or 18). -
a character concept just popped into my head.
an Ice/Kin Tanker. Usil (from the 1984 Dune movie). Iwon't be able to do it though... no orange for Ice Armor. still .... his name is the killing word ....
Chaaaaaaa-SA!
Boom!
hehehee -
Heh, Kin/Kin sounds like a an anime character of some sort.
-
in theroy from an ideological stand point maybe Incarnates are NOT invoking/manifesting the gods themselves but instead are drawing upon the things they represent. something like the Endless from Neil Gaiman's Sandman.
ie: Statesman is an incarnation of Raw Power or Lightning which was last incanrated as Zeus. or Lord Recluse is incarnation of Tartarus/Hades or maybe Darkness.
not that any of this would affect gameplay but it's just a thought. -
hmmm a new power set for each AT eh?
Dual Pistols for Blasters, Defenders and Corruptors.
Demon Summoning for Masterminds.
Kinetic Melee for Tankers, Scrappers, Brutes and Stalkers.
Electric Control for Controllers and Dominators.
yep thats a new set for each At.
Going Rogue is looking better and better. -
dont forget Matla engineers summon Gun turrets and i think the Herc and Zeus bots they have may be psi resistant too. i could be wrong about that.
having said that, Psi is a weird damage type, it rules early on but in the late game the robots are simply too numerous. still on some AVs (typically the "unstoppable" ones) have a real weakness to psi. -
yep. you go into a PvP zone, you expect nay, plan to get attacked by other players.
anytime myself or one of my SG-mates has wanted to do some badge hunting or temp power grabbing in a PvP zone we'll rally up anyone else in the Sg thats on and go in ready for a fight. if there's not enoguh of us on to achieve our goal or even just hold out against other teams, then we make a plan for another day and go in then.
simple.
MrFire/Kin wanted badges in a PvP zone, the Op wanted a chance at PvP recipes and the zone caters to both. if he doesn't like ya attacking him he shoulda left. -
Am I the only one that's fixated on the "...when I'm solo this build can tank..." part?
Feels like that bit Lewis Black talks about "...if it weren't for my horse I wouldn't have spent that year in college..."
force fields is a weird set to begin with. Only half of it is even useful and judging by this thread no two people can agree on which half. -
I'll admit that double xp weekends do bring out some of the more greedy personality traits in some but no more than a large sale at your favorite shop i think.
I and several members of my SG did a marathon of Taskforces on Saturday from Positron to Numina. I was equally pleased by my tank progressing from level 42 to 49 during them as i was to cash in the nearly 300 merits i had gained.
as for powerleveling? i did my share of that as well.
you can only go through a story arc or taskforce so many times before you cease caring about the plot points and only care about when the twit who has entrusted the safety of millions to you, will also entrust you with their damnable phone number.
