prae: Ah, I see... thanks for clearing that up for me.
Quote:I can see why you think my slotting is awkward, but the reason I did it that way is because N/D has so many useful powers it's hard to neglect slotting one power in favor of antoher, so I'm trying to get the most use out of every power as I progress to 50... currently I'm at level 25.The original build is passable, if kinda all over the place in terms of when you take slots. I consider Tactics to be a bit extraneous, and I hate Soul Extraction. Also, I'd slot up Darkest Night to 4 slots before slotting up Shadow Fall. A lot of your powers are being taken early and slotted late (like Petrifying Gaze for example). So, that's awkward.
Usually, I don't really start slotting IOs until hitting the 30 mark, so a lot of powers will still have SOs in them until more slots open up or I can afford the IOs needed. Thus, a power like Petrifying Gaze (a single target hold that may not get used in every fight) gets pushed asside for something like Tactics (an extra 7.5% base tohit) which allows me to skimp a little on accuracy across the board.
Quote:The slotting on your pets isnt that great. Max out the accuracy and damage on the first 2 pets. I don't even know what you were going for with 4 blood mandates.
Ravenous33: That's exactly why I posted the build... in hopes that others would post theirs, too. The existing guides are so old and not really helpful these days.
EricHough: Yeah, having the R.I.P. IOs would be really nice, unfortunately they just aren't affordable at the BM on Justice. My only other option is buying them with merits, but red side is so underpopulated that I solo a lot and it would take me a very long time to accumulate enough.
Anyway, I really appreciate all of the replies, so keep them coming! Perhaps a new guide could spawn from the information shared here. -
Quote:I had soul extraction when you could dismiss a pet and use SE on it. After they took away that 'feature' I dropped it. With playing a nec/dark you don't really need the control it provides.
Well I've never played a Necro/Dark before (obviously), so could you expand on that statement a bit? I'm under the assumption that when a pet dies you can use SE on it and then re-summon the fallen pet, thus giving you an extra pet... did it work differently before? -
I was trying to find a recent build guide, but didn't have much luck, so I'm looking for a little help. This is what I came up with for normal PvE... I'm on the Justice server where good recipes are pretty scarce. Are there any major holes I'm missing or is this build good to go?

I guess I'll never undersatnd what passes for humor in some peoples eyes, but I commend you for your effort.
-
Disable the rep feature and you'll never encounter this problem again.
-
-
So, do you still need to have people fill for the minimum requirement of teammates or is there a way around that?
-
Doh!!!
Oh well, glad you found something you could use. -
Heh, I had the same trouble when picking a name for my fire/fire blaster (due to being created on one of the two most populated servers), because every single obvious fire related name had been taken already... after all, the game is 5 years old.
So you're going to have to do a little thinking outside of the box here and try using a bit of word play. For example, I chose "Arson Al" (i.e. arsenal)... yeah, it isn't the greatest name in the world, but it fits the toon and is better than "Generic 00100301". -
Quote:Yep, that's exactly what I wanted to do... so you get a cookie! He didn't ask for it to cycle. I'm assuming he's using a different key for each teammate; personally I use the number pad, but he may be using (for example) F1 through F8.
All of the replies so far have been very helpful and I now have a few things to experiment with, so a big thanks to everyone for the assist. But, please continue to discuss the issue, since I'm sure that there are many more ways to skin this particular cat and all support toons could benefit from the information. *2 thumbs up* -
I tried to search for this but couldn't find it... sooooo, is there a way to get 3 actions from 1 keybind?
For example, being a buff-bot is kind of a pain in the backside at times, so I was hoping to ease my frustrations with something like this:
/bind F1 "team_select 1$$powexec_name Speed Boost$$powexec_name Increase Density"
Will that work or am I forever doomed to executing one power at a time? Any help with this would be absolutely fantastic. -
Quote:Not that I disagree with you, but I've had good success with PuG TFs in the past month or so and enjoy doing TFs more now than ever. Sure, you get the occasional AE baby who quits due to various reasons, but that's overcome by always filling the team with 8 people.I don't join PuGs anymore. Especially PuG TFs. I've seen a few level 50s quit the first mission of a TF because it's either too hard for them, or because "I'm not getting xp!" The swamping of the game with AE Babies has made something I used to enjoy doing distasteful to me.
Actually, I think it's a good thing if 1 or 2 people quit, because that just makes the team more willing to work together and accomplish the tasks more effectively with a much better attitude.
Also, I've noticed many players who want to do something other than another AE farm are very eager to hop on a TF simply because they've never done one or it's been awhile since they did. -
Ah, well I guess that explains it, then... just never noticed it before on my WS and all 3 toons stay pertty close to the tank (or at least within melee range). To be fair, I did Manticore on my troller tonight and didn't get KB or KD at all. *shrugs*
For Ironblade, here's the info you requested:
Controller (lvl 26)
-----------------
Superior Invisibility (lvl 22): Karma-lvl 15, slotted at lvl 22.
Blaster (lvl 50)
--------------
Hover (lvl 8): Karma-lvl 10, slotted at at lvl 8.
Warshade (lvl 50)
-----------------
Gravity Shield (lvl 2): Steadfast-lvl 14, slotted at lvl 5.
PS- I messed up on which type of KB IO that the blaster and WS had... which I corrected in the info for Ironblade. -
I have this IO slotted in Superior Invisibility on my recently created ill/rad troller and I don't think it's working properly.
For example, I was on a Citadel TF last night and was constantly getting knocked on my butt by Warcry robots and Penumbra grenade soldiers. Only about 10% of the time would I get hit by them and remain standing. I don't recall ever having this problem on my WS who has had the same IO slotted since Issue 9.
Come to think of it, perhaps the Steadfast Protection KB resistance IO is also broken, because last week I was doing the Katie Hannon TF on my blaster and was getting tossed around by storm & thunder Mavens.
Now I know the enhancement reduces knockback effects by -4, but isn't that usually enough to bypass the KB effects of the enemies listed above? Can someone help me understand why this happening? -
I know you're looking for a troller here, but I have to say the best AT that I've ever used for TFs was my fire/fire blaster. In fact, I accumulated over 1,000 merits with him doing nothing but multiple Posi, Synapse, Sis Psy, Citadel, Manti and Numina runs.
Fire/fire is quick and fairly reasonable on endurance. With a KB resistance IO placed before lvl 15, I was able to crank out the damage with no regard for Ruin Mages, Clockwork Princes, etc. For higher level TFs, Aid Self comes in rather handy when there is little support or they can't get to you in time.
Aim+Build Up+Fireball+Fire Sword Circle is a thing of beauty to behold (little is left standing after that combo) and you'll find youself jumping right into the middle of mobs along with the scrappers and tanks. Also, when the situation seems to dangerous for melee range, you have the ability to blast from afar and still do excellent AoE damage.
Did I mention that fire/fire blasters are also REALLY fun to play? Cuz they are! Quite honestly, it's a very satisfying experience. -
Well whatever patch you want to call it threw the emote for Base/Pocket D teleports all out of whack... kinda funny, but a little annoying, too.
-
Quote:Agreed, a sig pic (if you have to use one) should max out at 150px tall by 400px wide to avoid wasting post space or even breaking the format of the forum. Btw, some pictures just don't work well in a sig due to their composition, no matter how you manipulate it.
Honestly, I would say don't try. If you HAVE to put an image in your sig, make it an image of your character or an ad for your AE arcs. I find I'm blocking just about every other image because all it's doing is wasting space.
I don't know about this forum, but most other forums consider overly large sig pics a from of griefing, so to speak. It's just common netiquette to keep a sig reasonably sized. -
Meh, not really impressed with the new boards. Eventhough the tools are a little better, I find it very user-unfriendly for finding topics quickly... not to mention how UGLY it looks. *sigh* Maybe I'll get used to it one day. :/
-
All is well on Virtue, too... no problems at all, except the usual minor lag near WW and AE buildings.
-
Right there with ya Billz... been fighting this very thing all night and also rubberbanding quite often (even nearly mapserved a few times) on the two servers I play on, Virtue and Pinnacle. Seems I'm not the only one either, since a few in broadcast confirmed the same problems.
Btw, I'm on the East Coast and using Verizon FiOS. -
A few months ago I got stuck at the same spot because Wade didn't give me the 'Midnight Visage' power, even though I finished all his missions up to that point. CS fixed it for me, but it was frustrating none the less.
So, it might still be a bit bugged, although I haven't had a problem with the arc since then. -
[ QUOTE ]
It seems no one has mentioned it yet, but this is fixed on Test.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well until the patch goes live, players will still have to deal with the lvl 40 elite PPs through the entire TF.
On a good team, it's not a big deal. In fact, the last time I did this TF, the group consisted of a tank, scrapper, 2 blasters and a sonic defender. We had no healing (other than inspirations) and managed to take out the elite PPs with minimal casualties. I'm not saying it was easy, but it just goes to show what you can do with good teamwork. -

Yesssss! *does the We Got a New Player dance*

Ditto... and here's some friendly advise... get out of Atlas Park as soon as you can and experience all of the great content that the game has to offer your new hero! If you want to try AE, then go there after you reach level 10 or so. -
I've been working on my fire/fire blaster and can't seem to decide on the best way to build this guy, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Below are two builds that are similar in power picks, but totally different in IO bonuses.
The first one is geared towards basic defense and is fairly inexpensive... nothing flashy there. However, the second one is built for insane accuracy/recharge/regeneration and will put a hurt on the 'ol wallet... but nothing worth doing is ever cheap, right?
So my question is, which one do you think is more survivable and what can be improved upon in either build?
