Quote:Even that combo can do it if they prepare. A Shivan or HVAS hyped up with Pure Healer buffs (Or even just healed if they were stupid enough to skip Fort) would do it. I haven't tried it, but a Warwolf from the Striga arcs could probably handle it with buffs and heals.
Basically, with preparation there's NO CHARACTER that cannot solo this arc. There are some PLAYERS who can't, but that's a skill/dedication/preparedness issue.
Now for the folks (not Bill) who will say, "Well why should we have to do all that?" This arc is a one time deal and it unlocks access to the entire Incarnate system. It's not just the common and uncommon Alpha slot. It's the whole system you're getting access to. It's a meaningful and important part of a character's development. It should be difficult. It should not be something you can drop. It shouldn't even be something you can abandon. I'm hard-pressed to think of any other arc in this game that is so meaningful to your character in terms of potential power and content access.
In just about any other game, if someone stated you should be able to press a button to instantly get credit for a mission of this magnitude, you would be ridiculed.
And thankfully, this isn't that type of game. You are welcome to your opinion about Ramiel's arc being somehow massively important etc, but tbh, as far as I'm concerned, the entire game isn't massively important. It's awesome fun and all, but over the years I've been subbing, i've happily come to realise that it's just a game. I used to get all worked up over badges until i saw the humor in the sentence 'I collect imaginary badges'., for example.
CoH is a game that I pay for. More power to you if you want to view with pride acheiving difficult targets within it, but other people have other ideas of what is worthy of admiration etc. I can already skip the Honoree mission, and i agree with you about its current difficulty being pretty easy compared to stuff like LR or GW. I fully expect my emp defender to beat it with a Shivan.
But if I can't be arsed on the day, and I auto-complete, it won't be the end of the world. And I won't enjoy the content I open after that any less.

Quote:/slaps head ruefullyIt does scale. I don't understand your point. The mission obeys your team size and difficulty slider options. On base difficulty or lower (1 player/even con/No AVs) it is soloable by all character combinations. What do you mean by scaling?
Heh. Of course it does, yes, you're right. I love the difficulty tech they've given us. I should have said 'scaling it more'.
Playing at -2 or -3, maybe, or 'I don't ever want to meet anything stronger than a Boss level mob'.
I don't want to deprive you of your challenge, i'm just advocating giving more choice to the players.

Taking the time to make any suggestions is welcome, abd even sympathy is appreciated

Quote:It is already skippable.Well the arc maybe tricky for some charcter builds, I've run it with blasters and scrappers (none of them with more than the standered invention enhancements) and while the honoree was tough, i managed to whittle him down without being ko'ed. He's certainly not the hardest fight i've had in the game.
I can understand controllers and defenders might be having trouble, but i have seen posts where people soloed with those archtypes, so its obviously not impossible.
It is a bit harder than your standard missions but this game doesn't have a high difficutly curve and it's nice to have something of a challenge.
If itis a huge problem for some, maybe make it skipable but add in an incentive such as some incarnate shards or salvage for completing it (nothing major just a small carrot), in addition to just how cool the missions ar already.

Quote:It's not difficult to solo if you take a shivan and a gleemail tray full of med or large inspirs - i think thats how i did it in beta. She does make mention that you SHOULD make a team to take him down, its not required that you make a team but unless you're IO'd to the gills with defense and a lot of dps it is highly unlikely that you will be able to solo it.
Its a bit tedious though.
Scaling it would behappify everyone, wouldn't it?

I'm one of the 'easy, please' players. I tried 3 times against tge Honoree with my en/en/flame mastery blaster, and then auto-conpleted. The Minotaur wasn't too onerous for me.
I still advocate making everything in the game soloable via scaling tech. Scale rewards too. I don't begrudge the OP his challenge at all, but I don't need Or want the content to be that hard.

Cheers v much for all the advice. I had another few attempts, but got cheesed iff enough to auto-complete the mission once I realised that it would end with his defeat anyway. The EB in the next mission was much more to my level of challenge. I put him down without being defeated.
Quite a cool arc, overall.

It's still giving her this problem. Anyone else seen this message before?

My SG-mate's getting a similar but different problem.
She's in Britain but we play on the US servers. I'm in Poland. I can login to our main server, Freedom, no problem. She, however, gets a 'no response from this server. Please try another server or try this one again later' message when she tries to login. The updater works for her, everythings cool until it comes to server select.
I've asked for advice in the Tech forum to no avail yet. Any advice?

My SG-mate has updated to I19, updated her drivers, and when she tries to login to Freedom, she gets 4 red blips and the message "No response from this server. Try a different server, or try this one later."
I just logged into Freedom, no problem.
Any advice?

Hiya.
I'm soloing Mender Ramiels's arc with my 50 en/en/flame mastery blaster. I'm sort of a bit stuck at the Honoree mission.
I'm not in the 'OMG this mission blows **** balls' camp, but i was a little disappointed by the EB at the end. I thought the Portals were really cool, I love fighting wave after wave of lightly challenging mobs. I sniped each portal from outside the room, and then moved aside and dealt with the conscripts as they arrived. No problems here at all, great fun.
Holtz went down eaily, but then the honorree proceeded to 3 shot me.
Before I engaged, I ate 6 lucks and 6 reds and buffed up, but my attacks didn't seem to make much of an impact on him.
Some advice would be helpful on how I can solo him. Do I need to go get a shivan? I've got loads of temp powers and accolades, so if there's anything special there that would help, please advise.

I'm confused. Can my vigilante go to the RI and get a tip mission drop that enables him to behave like a vigilante? I'm not bothered about getting Vigilante points, particularly.

Quote:In a delicious parallel to Mission 1 of Ramiel's arc, the Incarnates of the forum have joined forces against a common foe.To have Venture, myself, je-saist and EvilGeko simultaneously agreeing on a matter of content is like forum armageddon.
With as much effect on said foe as in the arc lol.
Limitless Radial Waaah ftw, obviously.

PS OP, apologies if you're offended. This post is tongue-in-cheek. Hopefully the suggestions to autocomplete what you can will allow you to avoid content while you're working towards, er, accessing content. -
-
Quote:Yeah, it's confusing.
Basically I'd rather go do content I can do NOW, than do content just so I can do other content. You know?
...
Now the bits of my brain left after my brain exploded, exploded.
You want content that you can do NOW? Go see Mender Ramiel, he's got some content you can access immediately on any 50.
Eco. -
Quote:My brain just exploded trying to understand this.Yes.
I love running missions. Missions are great. But having to do certain missions, on several characters, to enjoy a certain aspect of the game? No thanks. I'd rather go do a mission I want to do because I want to do it.

Quote:Thanks for the advice guys, but I'm not okay with loading up a new program or fiddling with my system for such a small problem - in the tech problem section I was told that I could correct this by disabling something in Win 7, which I'm not comfortable with.
And yes, I've tried pasting the screenshot into Paint, Word and IrfanView.
I'm guessing you've already looked in your 'screenshots' folder in the CoH directory and playing in a window?

Quote:Yeah I do. It's super-easy. All they have to do is give ME the power to unpublish exploit farms, ban the creators and everyone who's used it for however long I feel like, remove the creators' other MA arc slots if I feel like it, delete any and all characters of the creators and players of all these exploit farms that I consider suspicious, and I would do it all day long. They could pay me with Dev Choices, one arc a month, and if they gave me the ability to hand out free 5-star ratings and plays I would pay everyone who ratted out a new exploit with a nice HoF for the arc of their choice. I'd have 20-30 people right away working for me finding arcs in exchange for HoFs. With this Gestapo I will cleanse the MA from all the impure and unfit filth that brings it down, and create lebensraum for good, clean, pure story arcs.
Where do I sign up for the AEnquisition?

Quote:i've been thinking of getting into building missions and have a question:
what forum is it under?
The Mission Architect forum is in the Player Help section. The MA Arc Finder channel is ope to anyone from any server

Hi Infinity!
Some of you may already know about the things I mention below, but I thought I'd mention them anyway, in case someone on this fine server doesn't
This post is to raise awareness of the Mission Architect community of story arc writers and players. The MA isn't just for farms, there are loads of great story-based arcs in the MA too.
The global channel 'MA Arc Finder' is open to all and is a great place to ask advice or chat about MA mechanics, and arc-writing, advertise your latest arcs, get recommendations of others' arcs to play, and to find MA teams to run story arcs. Please add the channel, and say Hi! The channel's regulars are a very friendly bunch and always eager to play and give feedback on arcs.
There is also a Mission Architect forum on these boards, where latest arcs, discussions, reviews and Dev and Player arc-writing competitions are hosted. At the moment, for example, The Players' Choice MA Awards 2010 are in the voting stages (with 2 billion inf at stake in prizes!).
This post isn't a slight on farmers, I hasten to add. There's room in the MA for all!
Thank you for listening - may your plays be many, and your ratings high!

Quote:Because the casual gamer quite possibly isn't even aware that 2bn enhancements exist, let alone holding the wholly wrong notionthat they are at all necessary. I've been playing this game for 6 and a half years, and I've got 2 50s. One Hero, one Villain. I've also got about 30-odd alts. My hero 50 has a few set bonuses. No purples at all. All of my alts have just generic IOs.Still waiting for that thoughtful, or even off the cuff, reason why the current system is attractive to the casual gamer and therefore the City of franchise.
Everything is fine. I can solo any story arc easily. I've duo'd a few TFs, and I've never been kicked from a team for not having purples. Nobody even notices.
You do not need those enhancements you are whining about. The casual gamer does not want those enhancements you are whining about.
You sound quite young to me, which possibly explains your 'wah, want teh uber-loot naow' attitude to the CoH equivalent of WoW's endgame raid gear.
Thankfully, this isn't WoW. And all of this marketeering business is Extra to the game.
It's a wicked fun minigame, but it's not important, really.

Weather would be nice, but no thanks to buffs or anything like that. it should be an option like Ultra Mode, for those who have the rigs for it.
But i'd rather they waitied till after they've finished amending all the TFs to be soloable via scaling before they start work on the weather.
