Quote:BOB is only BOB.Considering the size of Iceland...they'd HAVE to do that anyway. I don't think Iceland was ever their primary target market.
The alliance system is a big part of the game, yes. But CCP has admitted that a large percentage of their playerbase doesn't take part in alliance activities. This is supported by the new faction warfare system which allows PVP conflicts based around allegiance to NPC races rather than the low sec space conflicts which require a bigger commitment from a player to get into.
Also they state that the most well off players are mostly those who remain 'carebears' and shun the aggressive corporation gameplay and politics.
That may have changed in recent times...but it was certainly the case when I was playing the game for a couple of years.
I thought BOB was the most well-known and infamous alliance group... -

Quote:You could always have moving map markers.I think what would be cool is if the "major" heroes were actually wandering the zone they're supposed to be in and randomly helping people out... It'd be pretty sweet to have to "find" Positron wandering the zone to start the TF... Of course for the "make everything easy for me" crowd there'd be a major outcry, but I think it would add to the immersion.
"Alien" -
They would have to make it an optional section that way they could control what could be done with no body. No full on invisible torso without some sort of floating chest cover.

I thought Super Speed was capped for tech reasons and fly was capped to balance its maneuverability against super speed vertical limit.
Also I see this whole post is a joke but could someone explain to me the pitfalls of a PvP optional flag the player had control over (not talking about a duel option where you get a pop up request). Only problem I could see is two dinguses fighting it out while on mission...but anyone who does that would probably been the type to over pull for fun anyways. -

Quote:I'm pretty sure most the valid* outcries was from people talking about raising system specs or the game loosing it's feel. The new graphics mode is fully optional AND does not change the feel of the game. This means those with pull listened to both sides.GR will not significantly increase subs. Nothing this game has done in either direction has had a profound impact on the stable population. This will be no different.
On a different note, there was an article posted a short while ago citing CoX as one of the top 5 games in need of a facelift. The outcry that generated on these boards was a good read. It would appear that someone important was feeling the same as said article writer.
Quote:If you are so assured of yourself that I am wrong then give me 5:1 odds and I'll bet you 1 billion inf that DR appears with GR or if they drop an issue 2-2.5 months before it in that one.
Doesn't tickle your fancy, how bout 2 billion?
I'm pretty sure it will be there, sure enough to put up or shut up with you. So what will it be?
Hopefully this won't be like the time you told another poster you would have to fall on your head to write a worse MA arc than them and that your were going to write a hall of fame arc under a pseudonym... that I'm guessing never happened.
Basically, if you are so convinced I'm wrong. Wrong enough to post multiple thousand word essays about it then put your money where your mouth is. I'm willing to.
Actually I'll go 1:1 odds on a billion inf if you really want Arcana, just cause I've never seen you post anything that waivers outside of a stringent 3% risk range.
*"This feature would take dev time away from X" is not a valid complaint. -
Just listening to them talk put me off the movie. I was so very happy when I thought one of the twins was eaten.

I'll get right in with that with all the prebeta feedback I can provide on the product I haven't tried yet.

Quote:PI -> SG base -> GalaxyPI -> Talos -> Steel Canyon/Skyway City -> Galaxy. Three hops. That's not egregiously more than villainside. The Chantry -> Boomtown example is questionable (I just don't know if that's a real example or not), though FBZ -> FF (Quaterfield) is only three as well.
Also: Why are shortcuts a bad thing? -
Quote:I had a hard time watching the movie because of the twins.I actaully like the second movie more than the first. The first was just a T&A fest from Miss Fox, idiocy all around and a general lack of character. Oh, and bad camera angles.
RotF felt...well, kinda epic. The battle in Egypt, and especially the Forest battle, actually had me on the edge of my seat. It did help that they made Prime NOT get mauled all over by Megatron. And there was much more canon stuff in there. Even though its still Bayformers, it was at least watchable -
Quote:I'm pretty sure we'll get dynamic lighting effects on powers in ultra mode...but I refuse to say it will be lest I cry myself to sleep after release.I would like to see lighting that affects the environment around you. For example: you fire off a fireball and the walls inside a mission (or even a dark area in the outside world) light up. This is something the OTHER game put in and it adds a lot of realism.
I'm hoping for that in the Ultra mode, but it's something i've wanted in for a long time!

Also the issue with this topic is it started with an idea for more zone events (reconstruction).
Anything they add will be more. -

Quote:I'm just happy I missed any requests for Deagles.what? no request so far for the Walther PPK? I'm disappointed. I was sure all the tuxedo-type heroes would be crying out for them.

Though I suppose our regular pistols can pass for them if need be.
I just want to be able to color the pistols...that way we can have gold plated uzis ^_^. -
Quote:After GR they might loosen the rope a bit and come out with more Hero/Villain releases that don't seem like different sides of the same purple lollipop. The only supers locked out of it would be those who chose to stay locked out and they would have their own ball to play with. How is protecting the city less heroic than raiding a villain base (which we do on a regular basis anyway)?
Because keeping both sides of the game happy is far more profitable. I take it you weren't here for the I7/I8 debacle. I7 was heavily delayed, and included nothing but villain content. Heroes complained, and so I8 came out with a deliberately heavy hero slant. Then villains started complaining. Historians now call this era "The Great Headache".
I'm not saying exact parity is a great idea, but I know where they're coming from. And to be fair, that parity has led to some interesting storytelling opportunities, like the Mender Silos TF, that crosses over between sides. Even so, I'm still holding out for a new villain-exclusive zone myself. -
State of the game: Still CoH...still profitable.

And thank you for your post in this thread, BaB's. My grandma told me once that If I want to make the world seem like a much better place just keep the TV off for a couple weeks. I don't even have a TV anymore. So I'm no longer prone to put a lot of value into speculation and hyperbole. Right now CoH is doing great, so I'm happy. As soon as worrying about anything has a positive effect I'll be the first one to do it. But until then I got some bad guys to take down in MY game.
