  1. It doesn't seem to be very good in the AoE immobilizes. I tested it on one on the beta server and had a 17% proc rate. (This was against a single target, so that the only-once-per-click factor wouldn't throw off the results.)

I don't know. I'm just not seeing anywhere I really like this for my Plant dom, and the Ice one is even worse.

I think I'd like to hear an explanation for why you think the Accurate Healing sets aren't comparable, since the situation strikes me as very similar.

Since IOs came out, one could generally expect that a power which could be enhanced for accuracy and for effect could get dual-aspect enhancements for those things... unless it was a healing power or certain debuffs (or Eclipse), in which case you were out of luck.

Then they added those new sets. Now, you can get your accuracy with damage, healing, control, debuff, all kinds of things... In fact, if there's anything you'd want it with that you can't *get* it with except resistance, I'm not aware of it.

This isn't even comparable to the slotting people did with Active Defense. That slotting gives it an effect which is not supposed to be available with enhancements. Eclipse, on the other hand, is supposed to get the sort of enhancement it got. Getting it from *that particular* enhancement was a bug, but it didn't do anything that was just plain not supposed to happen. Moreover, the ability to enhance accuracy and effect together is something that the entire design of the invention system tells us should be possible.

Rather than mess around with new enhancements though, my suggestion is "Give Nucleolus Exposures a 20% resistance component and call it good."

    That's useless?

I mean yeah, it's not huge. It's still an increase in mitigation that stacks with eclipse, which is something I might appreciate if I'm hanging around in dwarf. (And most multiform warshades probably have some attack they aren't using it could be stuck in, so it doesn't really call for any build sacrifices.

(Not sure how it works for PBs... I seem to recall someone saying that they can already cap +HP?)

Now, the human form effect... seems kind of redundant. Although it might help a bit when exemplaring. Again though, it's getting something out of a slot that would otherwise do nothing for me.

  4. How about the Force Feedback proc? It's not something that'll be on all the time, but it does effectively take a bit off whenever it fires, which will happen pretty often in the nova AoEs.

    -Morgan.
  5. Interesting. I hadn't actually tried it in Strangler, so I went ahead and did that. 135/172. That's a rate I would expect to see for a proc rated for 6 ppm, if I'm understanding the way Arbiter Hawk explained it properly.

    -Morgan.
  6. Might depend on whether or not you want the six-slot bonus.

The proc rate is actually not that bad in the AoE immobilizes. I did some testing and it looks like it's firing about 15% of the time. Not as good as the other procs, but those don't come with a recharge component. So it might not be a bad choice to put the proc in roots, if you aren't going for the ranged defense.

    -Morgan.
  7. Are you wanting the six-slot bonus? If not you could just put the proc in that power, and use the rest of the slots for other things.

Mr_Blaze: It should fire sometime I'm pretty sure, but it's a bit hard to predict on AA. Procs in toggles get a chance to fire once every ten seconds. SBE and ATO procs have a lower chance to fire in an AoE than they do on single-target powers. (Although the effect seems more lenient than I was expecting.) But I don't know how toggles would work in terms of the "per minute" baseline, since the recharge isn't really a determining factor there.

I'm doing some testing on various proc frequencies on beta; you've got me curious, so I'm copying my ice dom over to try it out. But I'd be kind of surprised if it's not more useful to put it in a frequently-used click power.

Edit: Okay, put this proc into AA, stood in the middle of a group of 8-10 test dummies for about ten minutes. AA's hit rolls aren't shown in a normal way, which makes it hard to determine an actual percentage... but I saw the message for it 11 times in that period. I'm not especially impressed.

Tried it some in Frostbite, despite that being something I'll not likely want to use. Based on comparing the rates on a single mob vs. on a group, I think this may only have a chance to fire once per click. (I've heard the same of one of the other ATOs too, I think.) Probably not helpign any with regards to AA.

Also, why is the game perfectly happy to let my Plant dom put this thing in Strangler, but won't let my ice dom put it in Block of Ice? That seems wrong.

This set will be nice for warshades trying to get global recharge without going into purples too. WSes have a lot of powers that use 6.25% sets, so having a different option to put into one of them is nice.

Mostly though, I'm thinking if I want a set that gives more recharge to the power it's in, KG looks better. If I'm not wishing I had more recharge in a power, then I'll use PB. And if I have money coming out my ears, I'll use Ragnarok. I think this method will work out fairly well.

As someone with no interest in using that mask on anyone, I can't help but think "so?"

It's not like I don't use Barbarian pieces for non-Barbarians, Gunslinger pieces for non-gunslingers (and probably non-whatever other overall concept the set has). I've probably got somebody using something from the magic pack that doesn't use magic!

Being relevant to the theme doesn't require prohibiting things that go in a different direction.

Oddly, I tend to see using a frying pan as a weapon as more a male thing. I guess Iksel really made an impression on me.

Can you clarify as to what the problem is? I just checked my character that has one of those bows, and nothing looks transparent except the veil part. So either I'm just not understanding the problem, or I'm assuming it's the way it's supposed to be, or something...

Definitely endorsing no-veil options though. The bow just looks too good for me not to use it, but it'd work better for that character without the veil.

Perhaps it'd be better to say "best reasonably economical set". If someone's going for global recharge, the options are limited... and of course one can only slot a single set of Ragnarok, though my target build has three places it could go. I'm expecting/planning to do one set Ragnarok, one PB, and one KG between them.Seems a reasonable way to go.

Also, Air Burst might not be such a good idea... I think it's two-slot may be responsible for my dwarf form attacks regularly doing knockback, which is starting to be a major hassle.

Pretty much sums it up, I think. I'm considering putting this in Unchain Essence, which will get approximately the same recharge for 5 slots instead of 6 without sacrificing damage or set bonuses.

  12. Never seems to work that well for me. In a group that spread out, I'll be able to get about half of the spawn in the cone, and then the other half will kill me either before or shortly after I hit Eclipse. It pretty much put me off any high-difficulty ws soloing until I read about this method.

It's nice on a human build after Stygian Return to give yourself extra time to retoggle everything, and it's awesome on the TPN trial to avoid the super-rocks being thrown by the #OccupyPraetoria protestors.
I don't insist on it as the be-all end-all of opening strategies, but I find it works well in some situations where nothing else I've tried does. Most notably in rooms where the mobs are too spread out to get a decently saturated Eclipse.

  14. There's a thread about running MHD on mac using something called "Wineskin", although it's apparently not quite perfect, and you'd have to have someone make a copy of their MHD directory for you. Or you might be able to get it working with a linux VM and WINE; it used to not quite work, but it doesn't sound like anyone's reported trying since 2009.

THB: No slots in either of the Nova single-target attacks? Personally I kinda like having something there for when I need to do the "Sneaky Sky Squid" routine. Although after looking at another build that only slotted one of them, I'm considering that. It's not as though I don't already use the AoE atttacks even when I'm only facing one enemy.

Another thread here (which I can't find now) gave me the idea of using Nebulous Form as an alpha absorber. Stealth in, turn it on, wait a moment to be sure the phasing has definitely kicked in, turn off stealth, wait a little bit, then drop the phasing and Eclipse. Takes long enough to set up that I'd prefer not to do it unless Eclipse has worn off and I have no defensive inspirations, and pets kind of mess it up. (It's also quite embarassing when I do those steps in the wrong order...) Works pretty well for when I'm starting 'cold' though.

  15. An Elec/Psi is probably the least in need of the PS procs of anything I've ever seen. Conductive Aura is like a second stamina when it's saturated. Drain Psyche gives an incredible amount of recovery when saturated. Domination is a free refill. And Static Field will transfer endurance from enemies to you if you stand in the field, which can be truly prodigious amounts if saturated.

It feels to me like Elec/Psi hardly needs the endurance from PermaDom, and as others have noted it doesn't help a whole lot on the control side, but given how important the toggle is, the mez protection is a significant benefit. (Not to mention, more recharge means more Drain Psyche.)

    -Morgan.
  17. Well, you'll certainly be able to drain end with that setup. Although in bigger teams that's a control method that can be hard to make much use of. Personally I mostly solo with my Elec/Rad, so I need things that improve my damage more. (Procs in Chain Fences and Jolting Chain work very well.) Power Sink is arguably unnecessary, but I suppose it will speed up your draining...

I'd suggest replacing the Confuse enhancement in Synaptic Overload with the Accuracy/Recharge. The difference in duration is minimal, and with this power being all-or-nothing, you don't want to skimp on accuracy.

It's nice to have some EndMod in Static Field. This power will restore a lot of end to allies standing in it, which can be quite helpful.

The Aegis unique is basically pointless.

Even with the recovery an Elec can give themselves, Choking Cloud could probably use more EndRed.

    So....farsight

Farsight is an "effect does not stack from the same caster" power, so no. The recharge does make it easier to maintain constant coverage though.

I have noticed one weird thing with Farsight. If I cast it while a previous application is close to wearing off (icon blinking), then the icon never stops blinking until I give it a chance to fully wear off. As long as I keep casting when the power comes up I don't get any gaps in coverage, but it's still strange.

    -Morgan.
  19. Won't you get more psi resistance just putting a common resistance IO in Static Shield instead of the Impervium Armor - Psionic Resistance?

    -Morgan.
  20. People on the global channel I hang out on have heard me complain about this one.

"So I'm in the middle of a pile of Devouring Earth/Banished Pantheon/annoying rock monsters/other generally omnicidal foe. And there's a Void just chilling. What's with that?"

Not necessarily those exact words, but still. Sometimes it just makes no sense.

    -Morgan.
  21. Don't have any recommendations to offer, but I can tell you that you don't have to switch sides to get APPs.

    -Morgan.
  22. Conductive Aura is a toggle, so procs in it will get a chance to fire once every ten seconds. If it could take the ToE proc, I wouldn't expect it to give much of an improvement over the amount of endurance recovery an Elec can get from CA + Static Field (which is a truly prodigious amount).

I say "if", because despite CA being a power that takes both accuracy and heal enhancements, it doesn't take accurate healing sets.

    -Morgan.
  23. Not if what you're after is defense to everything. I know respeccing my Fire/Kin into Stone and getting nearly softcapped to S/L has made me very aware of how much nastiness is energy or psi. I'm not satisfied being able to laugh off the attacks of Werewolves, I want to be able to laugh off the attacks of IDF too.

I spent some time messing around with a Fire/Time/Primal build in Mids today, and the way it can get near or above softcapped to pretty much everything is so delicious that I'm seriously considering making one even though I'd previously sworn off on making another Fire controller.

30 seconds is the duration of the heal over time and recovery effects. The +rech has a 90s duration, which you'll see if you hover over that line on the effects tab.

  25. I would have thought City of Data could answer your question, but it doesn't show primary powers as increasing Domination, which is demonstrably wrong.

If you right-click on the domination bar though, you can see the numeric value, which should make it easy enough to test whether or not any given power is adding to it.
