To an extent. I always build for theme, and even though I pretty much never write out backstories and bios I always like to have an idea of a character's history and personality. But at the same time, I would never go to the same extent you've listed:
Quote:I guess my main beef with this is that you are limiting yourself in group content. There's a certain...performance threshhold that needs to be achieved in order to succeed, and stopping yourself short just because you feel like it means that everyone else has to pick up the slack, there's no upside beyond satisfying your private RPing impulses.- None of my level 50 characters (thus far) have taken and use every Incarnate Ability.
- None of my characters use Incarnate abilities during non-Incarnate combat.
- While all of my Incarnates get to +3, only one so far actually has any use for Destiny or Lore. The rest take Destiny and Lore simply to even the playing field of levels during Incarnate content. The powers themselves may as well not even exist.
My general rule is that solo or in a preformed group of like-minded friends, you're free to do whatever you want, but in endgame team content, especially PUGs, you should always be bringing your A game (at least, relative to the capabilities of the character you are wanting to work on at the time). I admit that this idea is actually a carryover from older (and much harder) MMOs that I used to play, but I think the spirit of the rule still stands. -
This might be minor, but another side effect of the XP Booster change is that I would need to leave them in e-mail until they're ready to be used, and I'm somewhat obsessive about keeping an empty in-box. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, a lot of other people won't care, but it will be irritating for me.

Another thing to add, targeted AoEs on bank doors (when point blank) will frequently not reach mobs standing behind you, even if their distance to the bank door is less than the radius of your power. I guess it has something to do with where the center of the bank door object is placed?

Quote:There actually is an in-game way to see the WST now, but it's a little obscure. In the LFG tab, the WST (or both WSTs for Vig/Rogue) will be highlighted purple and will have an extra bit of pop-up text when you mouse over to say that completing them the first time in the week will earn additional rewards. The WST is normally well advertised. However it might be helpful for newbies if they could see the WST in-game. Maybe every TF/SF contact could have a dialog entry for "What is the Weekly Strike Target?" and an screen that shows:
"The Weekly Strike Target is a ST/TF where you get extra rewards for XP, Inf, and Merits. The current WST is <name> in <zone> from contact <contact>."
The trouble is:
1. How many people use the LFG for stuff like this? Seems if it isn't mandatory for it, it's ignored.
2. If you're not up to the required level for the WST it won't show, which makes sense, except it makes people even more likely to miss this functionality.
3. It still doesn't tell you whether a particular character has already earned the bonus for the week. -
Thanks, makes sense in a silly CoH sort of way. I'll pay more attention next time.

So I admit I'm fairly new to Trick Arrow, but when parsing hit rolls, Poison Gas Arrow shows up as autohit:
Quote:I'm a little confused as to what is going on here, and whether I should be slotting accuracy in it now that I can. Specifically, this is on a Mastermind, but I'm not sure if that makes a difference.HIT Stalwart! Your Glue Arrow power is autohit.
HIT Stalwart! Your Poison Gas Arrow power is autohit. -
Update: Confirmed that neither PPD nor 5th Column mobs in Max's missions count for their respective badges.

Quote:Masterminds were never designed to tank. I'm not saying it can't be done, because it can, and quite well at that. But Bodyguard mode (ie. the main reason MMs can tank anything) was added post-release to address MM survivability concerns, especially in PvP.You know, I'm aware masterminds were designed to tank, but I have never seen a Mastermind tanking.
If the idea was they were designed as a "disposable tank" by keeping the enemy's attention with minions, this doesn't really fit either, since MM minions have no inherent taunt effects. I'm not sure offhand about their threat modifier, but all things considered I'm not sure it would matter, the average Brute would peel enemies off minions without even trying. -
Someone asked a question about "Nuclear Melee", and Arbiter Hawk was talking about how someone in the office (I forget who, sorry) keeps bringing up Grenade Melee as a future powerset.
It's never going to happen, but it makes me think of Kevin Rian from Garou: Mark of the Wolves. -
Seems to be affecting both Justice and Exalted, maybe all servers? At least whatever the problem is, it had the courtesy to wait until I was done with my TF, was very considerate.

Here to register my disapproval at the decision to not give freespecs for i22. Besides a couple of bugs (which I'm confident will get fixed in a timely manner) this is the first genuinely negative news I've had about the issue.
I can understand not giving them out when there's no major rebalancing, but there was quite a lot for this issue. UberGuy already explained quite clearly why this is disappointing. -
Just wondering if anyone has a complete list for getting old Defeat badges from the new/revamped enemy groups. So far what I've noticed:
1. Underling masks in new Banished Pantheon count for Banisher badge.
2. Sorcerers and Ancestral Sorcerers from new Tsoo missions do NOT count for Tracer badge. Not sure if this is a bug or not, but it doesn't sound right.
3. Neo-Shivans in Drowning in Blood trial do not count for Man/Woman in Black. Technically a separate enemy group so maybe it's working as intended, but I'm not really sure there would be a problem with allowing this.
If anyone else has anything to add, it would be much appreciated. Stuff to check:
1. Incarnate level CoT for any applicable CoT badges. Barely see these guys anywhere in DA so I'm not sure what their ranks contain.
2. PPD in one of Max's mission for Outlaw badge.
3. 5th Column wolves/vampyr in another of Max's missions for Silver Bullet and Slayer.
And anything else I've forgotten. Perhaps once the list is complete someone can /bug the badges that seem to be functioning incorrectly, like the Tsoo one. -
We're all too busy "diffusing bomb threats" on a daily basis to be bothered by this sort of thing.

It's not the first time they've given additional powersets to NPCs. One of the first times I encountered it was Kadabra Kill redside, during Darrin Wade's missions, who appears to be a Grav/Kin/Emp controller (and possibly more that I was forgetting).
Incidentally, I hate Kadabra Kill with a passion. -
My opinions, just rating them in order from worst to best, having played all but Beasts:
1 - Mercs, they really are bottom of the barrel. They work out to be about as fragile as ninjas, without the damage. Supposedly they're intended to be control heavy, but their control powers are on such ridiculous unenhancable cooldowns that you can't rely on them.
2 - Ninjas, I really like Ninjas but to be honest they don't have a lot to recommend them. Reasonably high ST damage but will rarely live long enough to make use of it against anything that matters. AoE is so-so.
3 - Necro, basically identical to ninjas, but with one major advantage, that being the ability to slot the second set of uniques from recharge intensive IOs in Soul Extraction. For SO builds I would probably place them below Ninjas, they're slightly tougher but not enough to matter, and their damage is noticably worse. Lich is more of a troll who likes to faff about than be of any real help.
4 - Bots, I suspect this could go higher depending on how much you like knockback, their primary advantage in my eyes is that they synergise well with just about any secondary, but otherwise they are simply above average at everything. This is fine, and bots do well, I'm just saying you can't really give the bots credit for the work done by your secondary.
5 - Demons, very solid all-rounders, slightly end heavy but that's about all you can say against them.
6 - Thugs, overall the strongest in terms of damage, and damage tends to be the most important thing in this game. Enforcers + Gang War also means they tend to stack well with other Thugs MMs, where the rest of the MM primaries merely tolerate another of their kind.
As far as Beasts go, I haven't heard much good about them, but I will refrain from commenting further since I haven't played them, and they're still in beta. -
When I was making my Titan Weapons character, I wanted her to have the defined abs of the Barbarian chest without the whole "platemail bikini" thing, so the solution I came up with was trench coat + classic steampunk bustier, which looked fine in the character creation screen.
In game, however, the bustier loses all of its detail and becomes completely textureless. I haven't checked if the same thing happens to other chest details. It still doesn't look bad per se, but it definitely doesn't look the same as in the character creator/login screen so it's probably not intentional. -
Quote:Is that actually open to discussion? If so I'm interested in giving some feedback. Personally I'm someone who will probably never use the free server transfers, my server transfer counter is pretty much equivalent to a "months since Freedom launched" counter. This isn't to say that I consider part of my VIP sub wasted or anything, just that free transfers don't really enter into the equation when I decide whether I'm getting value for my money. If you want to provide more constructive feedback like "this is a great feature that i would rather get free per month as part of my VIP membership than server transfers or 400 points per month" then we're all ears.
However, my ideal system (and I have no idea how feasible this is) is to get one token that can (only) be spent on an account service of an equivalent value. So, some people might still want to use them on transfers, but people like me might be able to use them on renames or respecs or those alignment switches. -
Well, he killed Statesman who was immediately brought back to life, so that doesn't count.
He thought he killed Protean but didn't, so that doesn't count either.
And then there's Sister Psyche now, who may or may not count in the long run.
I'm not recalling any others, but going by his track record I think Sister will probably be ok, just slap on a few bandages. -
...or is something missing?
This is not an entirely rhetorical question, as I'm not sure if the sound just isn't working for me, but TW has basically no impact noise on my end. There's plenty of swooshing sounds as it gets swung around, but when it makes contact there's basically nothing. Compare it to pretty much every other melee set out there, and TW is the quietest of them all, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
Assuming that it's not just my computer and TW really is that quiet, I'm sure there are people who prefer it this way, which leads to my other question. To any devs/CMs reading, would it ever be feasible to have alternate sound effects, in a similar vein to alternate animations? I can think of more than a few times in the game when I personally would consider the sound effects less than ideal (Sonic Blast comes to mind) and it might be nice to have options. -
When you say "reduced" do you just mean the effect of the debuff, or the time (or both)? Just that from my point of view, it's the 20 hour thing which is bonkers, the actual debuff itself is bad but wouldn't really be worth complaining about if it was a reasonable time.
For the record when I say "reasonable time" I am thinking in the 5-10 minute region. -
Does that mean i22 tomorrow as well, or are these launching separately?
Anyway, I'm in the "won't pay extra" boat for these things too. I'll probably use the reward token method since none of the other repeatables are worth it to me, but that's about it. -
I haven't run the Hero arc yet, but the timing seems kind of unfortunate. What with Statesman being recently departed, I'm wondering why Ms Liberty is going to the trouble of trying to bring back someone else.

The event doesn't appear to be active yet, but there is a new pack of costume pieces called the "Pocket D Valentine Pack" available in the store right now, that's what everyone is talking about.
Also the metallic dress top for females doesn't seem to appear under any category besides tops with skin, was hoping to use it with a bolero. Not sure if it's intentionally done this way or not, but it's disappointing regardless. -
Quote:I would think that if there's any TF which doesn't need additional incentive to be run, it would be the ITF. In fact I'm reasonably sure that if there were no costume pieces associated with the ITF at all, it would still be run more than any other TF.Main reason: They were intentionally left out to maintain some exclusivity to the Imperious Task Force (ITF).
Players can normally obtain/unlock the Roman Costume pieces for free in-game, but this has to be done PER character by completing the ITF. The purchase of this bundle allows players to unlock many of the main costume pieces for all other characters on your account without having to do the Task Force.
I'm not sure if it's possible/feasible to retroactively add stuff to a pack once it's gone live, but if that is your main reason for excluding some stuff from the pack, I implore you to reconsider.
