Scrappers will be getting, arguably, one of our best sets (for AoE) and we'll get one of their so-so sets. They get the awsomeness of LR and Thunderstrike to wag around and we get...a metal stick. Also:
-Build up being +100% dmg instead of +80%
-Fiery embrace
-Saturated Against All Odds
Ontop of Lightning Rod

I could agree with that I suppose(except the metal stick bit, its a metal sword. A DEADLY metal sword at that.) Scrappers do more AoE damage anyways. -

Thats just on fighting a AV or Pylon soloing. In regular gaming and misisons they are about the same.

I still don't get why FM would be so good on Stalkers.

Ha! Let them wag it! Ours is better! Doesn't break hide making it easy to line up a criting TS, does the same damage on Stalkers and Scrappers(not including BU), and cmon, a giant bolt of lighting coming outta nowhere?? And we get a cooler animation.(Assassins Shock). -

I think it is worth it. More options=better. And stalkers do burst damage. BS>Katana/NB at burst.
We will get FM eventually, right after they figure out what to do about Fiery Embrace.

It's not just about Head Splitter. Parry adds some monster defense to melee and lethal damage. Disembowel and HS have some nice migation via KD and KU.
Sure it probably won't out damage EM in ST burst, but alot of sets don't. It will be much more survivable while still being able to deal out impressive orange numbers. -

When stalkers do get Fire/FA(which I think they will)I hope they leave Fiery Embrace in. I won't touch the set without it.

Apart from Spines being able to use the geometry from Thorns, and Thorns being able to use the geometry from Spines (both of which can be colored), there will be at least one other set of alternate geometry/FX.
As for Martial Arts, the alternate animations we have right now are mainly punches. The idea was to provide you guys with a way to make the classic, fights with their fists and feet, super-hero that many have been asking for. That includes a new animation for assassin's strike (Assassin's Blow?).

It's really funny when the -res Achilles Heel proc in PR stacks with Surveillance and VG. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, its epic.
I smacked a boss with that combo for somewhere around 650+ damage the other day. With just PR. It felt good. -
I'd ask about it on the Scrapper section, that's were everyone goes to as question about that on melee toons, and it seems to get more traffic than the SoA section.

I always thought that you slashed at the air so fast that it torn a hole in the space time continuum and send out a wave of lethal quarks that on impact would deal high levels of damage and knock the target down.

Same. I find tankers rather boring. I've made maybe 3 tankers since I started playing, and the highest is 32.
Brutes are much more my style. -

Interestingly enough, the reason why the broadsword was developed was specifically to solve the heavy armored target issue. Broadswords were specifically made to be significantly heavier towards the blade end than a traditional longsword specifically to make the weapon better suited for taking on heavily armored targets. This was done specifically by making the blade itself significantly wider, hence the term "broadsword" for a sword that is marked by having a broader, heavier blade.
If anything, it would make more sense for Brutes and Tankers to have broadswords, Scrappers to have longswords, and Stalkers to have rapiers or other long piercing swords. Broadswords were actually remarkably difficult to move around gracefully thanks to the excessive weight but longswords, which were actually weighted heavier in the hilt and pommel specifically for this purpose, were designed to be moved around in an adroit manner. Rapiers followed suit even farther than longswords though, rather than attempting to make the entire blade into a weapon, focused upon using only the last 6 inches to make precision strikes for light slashing but mostly piercing thrusts to important portions of the anatomy. Of course, rapiers weren't really much use against somebody in full plate armor, mainly because a rapier can't really do much to riveted steel with chain and leather as the nominal weak points within the confines of an actual melee.

Poison would need significant revamp much like they did with empathy -> Pain domination in order to work functionally outside of the MM AT. It's a VERY weak powerset to begin with and it has mishmash of high and low values that wouldn't port smoothly as well as powers that completely incapable of being ported.

Thats probably a reason why they skipped it this issue, with them working on GR and Power Customization and animations for SS and MA.
Hopefully when they do get around to it, they could tinker with it and make it more team friendly. -

But yea, BS is more burstier than Katana, which is better for stalkers. Perhaps they changed HS into a ST attack, similar to what they did to Eviscerate? -
