Well, that's what happened to the comicbooks. My breaking point with DC was what happened to Sue Dibny, who was a funny, happy character along with her husband and the group they usually appeared with.

ARIEL? THESE MERMAIDS AREN'T SO LITTLE!
It seems the giant octopus known as 'Lusca' is a problem under the sea as well as over it! Recently sirens (you may know them as mermaids!) have been coming up on Independence Port's shore to get away from the tentacled menace!
Three have even registered as heroes, proving that there's good people all over, even if they seem a little fishy!

(I'm not really advertising the greekchorus, it's private, but I did have this handy ad for it since it's a superhero housing development and thought it would fit. It's by Syrusb!) -
loud noises!
Now shut up and help me save the world, Villy-Poo.

Quote:Let's just say, there's nothing flattering written on that medal.I found it highly amusing (that is to say, I was highly annoyed) when the chapter three contact informed me that I was going to receive a commendation for my efforts. WTF? Seriously, Agent Kwahu? An honorary medal? I didn't realize that they handed out medals for royally f---ing up and letting a signature hero get murdered by a crackpot dictator.
But, oh, right; I should take solace in the fact that it's not my fault because there was nothing I could do... -
Quote:What's keeping you?Reroll. If offered the opportunity to start over with my first character, 'Knight of Khonsu,' I would jump at it, even if it means giving up everything I have received. I did not know the game when I started him. I foolishly picked SR with Dark Melee. If I had the opportunity, I would drop SR for Dark Armor in a nanosecond!

Quote:Actually, my mom highlights her hair blue and that's exactly what it looks like. Not that style, mind you, but that blue black mix. So I guess I didn't twig to it looking like an old comicbook immediately.
First of all, things I agree with. I like the blue hair. It makes sense for Penny to dye her hair and use that weird hairdo. I mean, I was once her age, I wanted to have blue hair. Hell, I still do, but I can't achieve that for fear of destroying my hair. But I'd personally have gone with a hair colour that's more obviously blue. As it is right now, the blue comes off more like a highlight colour to depict depth, like you'd see on an older printed comic book (part of why Batman looks blue so often) than an actual hair colour. I met a girl with blue hair recently, and hers was blue like the forums background here, like one of the Freakshow mohawks. If we wanted hair that's dyed blue to be rebellious, I'd have thought it would be a lot more blue.
Of course, when my hair was blue (and green and red and yellow and orange and purple), it was quite vivid, but that's because I didn't do the highlight dying method. Which isn't that uncommon, in fact it's the most common version of fancy colour dyeing I see, because it's a lot less work and much cheaper. -

Quote:Are we, really? I'm not so much concerned about the Freedom Phalanx having a bad day as I am about them passing the "stealth" idiot ball to the player. Sure, we keep getting praised, but Arcs #3 to 5, what did we really accomplish?
Arc #3
Did we prevent Miss Liberty from being kidnapped? - No, she was taken despite our efforts.
Did we neutralize the threat from the Warburg Nukes? - No, missed one.
Did we rescue Miss Liberty? - No, she died.
Did we arrest the person responsible? - No, the true perpetrator is still free.
Arc #4
Did we save Sister Psyche? - No, she's gone into a coma.
Did we extract any relevant information from Malaise? - No.
Did we figure out who's behind this Nemesis-like plot? - Yes, Darrin Wade. Wait, who?
Arc #5
Did we arrest Darrin Wade? - No.
Did we foil his evil plan? - No, quite the opposite, he's more powerful than ever.
Did we save Statesman? - No, he died.
Did we accomplish anything worthwhile in the last 3 months? - No.
Yes, but we didn't actively make things worse, which is the standard I live my life by. -
Won't that just end up thinning the player ranks? Survival-wise, I mean. Definitely not the other way.

Quote:Oh! Haha. I thought it was a joke or a reference to something. She was about the 2nd or 3rd character I made the first night I'd bought the game way back Aug 2004. A few days later when she was like level 8 I'd noticed that I'd spelled Maiden wrong. The idea of rerolling and redoing all 8 levels just seemed crazy (after all that "hard" work) and at the time there wasn't a name change option. So I just kept it that way because at the time I was just getting used to the game and wasn't sure if I'd even keep the character and low and behold it ended up my main and namesake.
When they did finally make name change an option (after she'd hit 50) there was a Mental Maiden on the server, so I couldn't change it now anyway. And after time it just stuck, became my in-game name and forum name. A stupid spelling error; that's all.
Man, I've done stuff like that. -
I really like the idea of Katie Hannon in a supergroup.

Quote:I find Dean MacArthur's hitting on me and failing, Penny's talking in excitement about Doc Delilah, all the Percy stuff in Montague's arc, etc, much more humanizing than infighting jackasses.*edit*
And another thing! There are many ways to "humanise" otherwise super-powered people, and many of them don't involve having them screw up like rookies. I mentioned this many times before, specifically in my Tender Moments thread, but it's worth bringing up here again - making characters appear more human is best achieved by giving us a glimpse at their lives when they are not engaged in whatever they have become an icon of. If we want to give super heroes depth and humanity, this is best achieved by exploring their lives outside of super hero work.
To this end, I think they need an Ace the Phalanx Hound to play fetch with. -
I agree, I'd like it if I was helping people less dickish. I'm not asking for Carebears, just someone I don't want to mace.
That said, I have enjoyed feeling like the only competent person in Paragon. -

I liked Sefu's writing. I felt genuinely bad when he bit it.
Doc Buzzsaw is hilarious.
TV is fun.
Westin Phipps actually makes me feel slimy, same with Peter Themari (is that how you spell his name?) when he cuts the girl's hair. Uggggh. That was a well-chosen creeper moment.
I like Faultline too! I made a set of characters to run through it and pretend they did it all together, because I wanted it to be 'their' adventure. -
I think I know why. If you talked to the latin student, then abandoned the mission, you could get it again for another group of people. I was worried when my friends discovered and reported this.

Your epic powerpool consists of 'ugly crying', 'eating ben and jerrys and crying', 'rocking back and forth in corner', and self destruct without the damage.
