It will still be a couple more days before I even unlock the Alpha slot on one of my characters...
After that, I might collect enough shards to build a common boost. Someday. Playing the character now and then, doing standard missions, it should take a very long time I would think. -
Quote:FYI, you can't auto-complete the Trapdoor mission. I discovered that tonight. The other two elite boss missions can be auoto-competed though. To the OP: Start the arc, then autocomplete the missions, one every third day. The first one and the second don't require any fighting, they are just dialog. (Stuff will try to hit you in the first, but you are untouchable, just ignore them and go straight to the goal.)

Quote:That one wouldn't work too well, thanks to Going Rogue. When a villain with the Invader badge switches to Hero, Invader changes into Task Force Commander. My Stone/Energy brute and Energy/Regen stalker got Task Force Commander without ever doing a TF or SF!Besides, it could be worse. If it was up to EvilGeko, the solo path to unlock Incarnate progress wouldn't be an arc, it would just be a badge.
Task Force Commander.
I think EG would be happy with one tough TF to unlock the Alpha slot anyway. (Which would be something that would prevent any of my characters from getting the slot.) -
"Pathetically" easy? You still have to fight two elite bosses (one at a time), which is going to be rough on a lot of solo players. (With a small team though, yes, it should be easy once you figure it out.)

Don't mince words, Techbot. Tell us how you really feel about that mission.
I do think that the devs could have put in a better mechanism than hiding the EBs in a massive swarm of Rikti. Playing solo on the standard difficulty level, I was looking at over 100 Rikti massed together in the room before long. Finding the EBs in all that can be a challenge, and you can pull a maximum-aggro group of Rikti if you're not careful. It's kind of silly, really. -
Quote:That's not exactly "solo"...Not quite. They can now get into the shard at level 1, and if they have a higher level friend, that person can defeat the Overseers for the badge.
My level 50 Ninja/ stalker has the Rularuu weapons (from the Naylor arc), but my level 50 Katana/ scrapper doesn't. Chasing down that many Overseers isn't worth the reward, as far as I'm concerned. -

Hmmpf. I started through the arc and found out that the Trapdoor mission can't be auto-completed for some reason. Oh well. It's not as nasty as the other two elite boss missions, especially if you can lure Trapdoor into the lava. As long as I can auto-complete the other two EB missions, I'm happy.
I'll agree with Shubbie that a lot of casual players will have a rough time with the Honoree fight. But that's okay, as far as I'm concerned. The arc leads to content that is designed for the more hardcore players. As an introduction to that content, it should be tricky to get through. Players should try to get through the rough spots to get them ready for the content that follows.
Since I won't be doing the follow-on content, it's just an ordinary story arc for me, so I don't mind auto-completing the more annoying missions. -
Strangely enough, I've never done a respec trial. The standing around waiting for the waves of enemies thing sound a bit like the "stop 30 Fir Bolg" mission. Except of course you can run around beating on Fir Bolg while you're waiting.
Well, good luck with the waiting. -
Wow, after reading the Ghost Sweeper Mikami page I realized that I'm only missing the last volume of the manga. Volume 39 came out after I left. Sigh.

There are two new anime series coming out that I highly recommend. Well, actually, they're old, but this is their first US distribution in any form.
Dirty Pair, the Original TV Series. This is not the shorter (10-episode) "Original Dirty Pair" series that did manage to come out in US distribution before. It's the 26-episode series. I have almost all of it on used Japanes VHS, so I'll be looking forward to upgrading to DVDs.
Ghost Sweeper Mikami. The movie came out in the US some time back, but this is the 45-episode TV series. I saw the series more than ten years ago in Japan, and I have a lot of the manga (which sadly hasn't been distributed in the US). It can be fairly silly, but it has a fun cast of eccentric characters. -
Speaking of raging inconsistencies, I see a lot of that in certain brands of anime.
For example, I've been watching D.Gray-man lately. I just finished watching the second season. Exorcists in that show use mystical stuff called "Innocence" embedded in weapons or body parts to fight enemies called "akuma". This basically makes the exorcists superheroes, each with their own set of super powers. Exorcists are frequently bashed into walls or the ground, leaving deep impressions but just getting the wind knocked out of them; yet at other times they can get hurt as easy as any normal human. They can leap 30 feet into the air to smash an akuma, yet they're blocked by a 20 foot cliff. And despite their occasionally phenomenal leaping abilities, they can only run as fast as a normal human. -
This is my Ice/Axe Tanker build at level 38 (number of slots in parantheses):
1 Hoarfrost (4)
1 Beheader (6)
2 Chop (6)
4 Chilling Embrace (2)
6 Hover (3)
8 Stealth (1)
10 Gash (6)
12 Wet Ice (2)
14 Fly (4)
16 Swift (1)
18 Health (1)
20 Stamina (3)
22 Swoop (6)
24 Permafrost (1)
26 Invisibility (1)
28 Build Up (1)
30 Frozen Armor (4)
32 Glacial Armor (4)
35 Cleave (6)
38 Energy Absorption (1)
And... I like it!
So would you want me designing builds for you? Oh, I don't think so. -

Quote:True. It was only in recent years that Hal figured out that he had any kind of fear at all. Always in the past, he was fearless to the point that he could shrug off Scarecrow gas and laugh at stuff that frightened Superman.Am I the only one that doesn't ever remember Hal Jordan having a problem with being fearless? The whole line about "Green Lanterns are supposed to be fearless, and I'm not", made no sense to me as far as Hal Jordan's character in the comics.
So that's something I'm a bit concerned about. -
My two lowest level characters (Praetorians at 9 and 13) won't need respecs, but all the rest will need at least one respec. A few might get a respec on a second build.

Quote:Not at all. I'm really looking forward to the inherent Fitness. I'll make good use of some of those QoL improvements. I can use a few of those alternate power animations. The AE additions will be great (although I didn't see them on the beta server the last time I checked). I'm also looking forward to those new tip and morality missions.I'm at a loss here, it's like you WANT to be disappointed with..well...everything...
Quote:This stuff is Supposed to be hard, because that reward IS worth the effort. -

I'm not really into repeating mission content with the same character. I suppose that mission-oriented soloers who play one character heavily and enjoy repeating missions with that character could make use of the Incarnate stuff, because they could get shards in a not-completely-unreasonable amount of time and then repeat the missions slightly faster, or at higher difficulty.
-
I'm not complaining. It was just an observation. The Incarnate system doesn't work well with a mission-oriented solo play style. That's okay. As you say, I'll still be doing the other stuff with my alts.
-
I suppose that there might be one reason for me to consider getting an Alpha Slot: it unlocks a third build. That might have some use with certain character concepts, involving different ancillary pools. I'm not sure if I'd actually come up with a way to use it, but it's something to think about.
After all, the story arc to get the slot is easy enough to complete.
*auto-complete elite boss mission* *wait three days* *auto-complete elite boss mission* *wait three days* *auto-complete elite boss mission*
(Granted I'll have to wait three more days before I finish testing that. So far, I beat Trapdoor and auto-completed the Honoree fight.) -
Oh, I understand that. I'm not really complaining, I'm just confirming my previous low expectations of the Incarnate system. It's not going to work out for me, but if it makes a lot of other players happy, then it's a good addition to the game. And I'll be happy with my inherent Fitness. (And with close to 50 characters, that alone will keep me busy for a while.)
-
Yes. If I do the upper 40s story arcs with my level 50 Energy/Regen Stalker, the enemies will be at levels 50 and 51.
(When I say "upper 40s arcs", I'm including 50 in that, which is imprecise but practical.)
