Siphon Life, of course, and I'm also a fan of Focus on my claws scrapper. "You're running away? Not so fast!" *SHING* *mob collapses*
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, I like that one. For a strong finishing move, I like Greater Fire Sword.
My overall favorite though is the swish-dead of Bitter Ice Blast. -

This looks like a great buff for my dominators. My Mind/Energy in particular is shifting into high gear with the Energy Assault upgrades. I'll glady take all those changes for my Plant/Psy too.
[/ QUOTE ]
...You love firing off two /energy attacks and losing half your blue bar? I exaggerate a little, but really not that much; the END issues are just horrible.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm afraid I won't be in much of a position to comment on that. My Mind/Energy is at a level where endurance is no longer a concern (outside of endurance drains from enemies). I tend to overdo it when slotting for endurance reduction... -

1: A large or disorderly crowd ; especially : one bent on riotous or destructive action.

This has been the common usage long before online gaming came around. Folks, whatever you do, don't refer to a single person as a "mob" outside of computer gaming. -
[ QUOTE ]
As for "compare", which is generally a pretty simple word to understand, I'll give you a little lesson. Golf has the letter 'g'. God also has the letter 'g'. I just made a comparison between "golf" and "god". I didn't say they were the same thing.
Likewise, you made a comparison between Emmert and Hitler/Stalin, noting that they share the attribute of "influential". Of course, picking those two examples out of the group of all possible influential persons is a strong indicator that you were trying to connote a deeper comparison. But you then weaseled out of that by saying you weren't making a comparison at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
How dare you compare God to Hitler! -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Hitler and Stalin were easily among the top 20 most influential men in history, but they were still the plague to end all plagues. Not that I'm comparing Jack to murderers of millions upon millions of innocent people, but the point still stands
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow..........over a video game!.........Some of you people seriously need to get out more often and find yourselves a life. To compare a developer of a video game to those people..........wow.
[/ QUOTE ]
He specificially stated that he wasn't comparing Emmert to those people. He brought up obvious examples to prove his point (that the most influential people aren't necessarily positive influences). If he had brough up obscure examples, he wouldn't have proven his point.
Personally, I fully credit Jack for CoH going live and becoming popular. In a list of 20 with such a small amount of real competition, I would expect to see his name on the list, even though he has only one real success behind him.
(Jack and friends still haven't managed to get me interested in Champions Online though.) -

If the mission can be failed, the "Drop Mission" option isn't even given.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is only true for timed missions. Missions that can fail for other reasons (boss escaping, rescue mission, protect the glowie, etc) can be dropped. I should know, I've done it often enough. For example, I always drop the mission to defeat Crimson. -
If you haven't already seen it, Positron's original post on the topic is here.

What are random maps good for?
[/ QUOTE ]
Unpredictability, variety, and replayability. I like to use random maps in my arcs. I mix them with unique maps. I'll only select a specific map from a non-unique group if I want certain objectives that aren't supported by all maps in that group, or if I want a cargo ship map. (I normally pick the first cargo ship map in the list, since the bigger ones are very big.) -

Heh heh. Issue 5 will be out probably long before I get my main to 50 (I'm level 36 now). I'm enjoying the content too much to level quickly.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah yes. It took me another six months after that post to get that character to level 38, and more than two years after that to get her to 50. -
As far as I'm concerned, Archmage isn't even in the game. I consider the hero accolades better just because any of my characters can pick up the Atlas Medallion without any grinding. I can accumulate enough vampyrs and warwolves just doing normal missions. Conspiracy Theorist isn't too bad, especially if I wait until the late 40s for it. I have Freedom Phalanx Reserve and Vanguard on one character, and Portal Jockey on another. I don't expect to get Portal Jockey with any of my other characters (maybe one more) due to all the EB fights, but I have at least one more character who will be getting Vanguard.
Villain side, well, villains I created after Issue 7 can look forward to Invader. -
For accolades that give bonuses and powers, I'd have to say that I prefer the hero accolades. I have the Invader badge for a couple villains, but that's it on the villain side. I don't go into PvP zones, so that kills a few villain accolades right there. And of course only villains I created after Issue 7 will be getting Invader. I tried to get the Demonic badge with one character, but I couldn't put up with grinding the Coldhearted badge for it.
*hugs my Atlas Medallions* -
Things that continue to bug me about the redside:
- My villains act like heroes waaaaaay too much.
- Too many AVs/EBs in the main missions. I can easily avoid AVs and EBs on the blue side until the 40s.
- Way. Too. Much. Longbow.
- Also excessive use of CoT and Arachnos. Ironically, the red side fights Arachnos far more than the blue side.
Naturally, the blue side has its annoying aspects too, including all that extra travel time. It tends to balance out for me. I enjoy playing both heroes and villains despite the annoyances. -
To me, grinding is repetitively doing something that isn't fun in order to obtain a goal.
In the early days, I ran out of mission content at level 38 with my character Yukihime. That left a big gap before I could get any more missions. Anything I could do to get past that gap would be a nasty grind for me. Mind you, I had already done some grinding via farming and teaming just to get to 38. Eventually Warburg was added, and I had the opportunity to do missions there, but I don't like to go into PvP zones. When the first double XP weekend hit, I decided to go ahead and tear through Warburg missions until I hit 40 with Yukihime.
Fortunately, I don't have to do that kind of grinding any more. The game content these days allows me to go from 1 to 50 without experiencing anything that seems like a grind to me. -
Hopefully it will be on the U.S. test server by the time I get home from work, so I can try out that new backflip costume change emote!

How DARE they make content that doesn't specifically cater to you and you alone!

No kidding. What were they thinking??? -

Ice/Ice Blaster is clearly the best, because it's my favorite combination. Great combination of damage and control.

More interesting stuff that I probably won't be seeing. I suppose I can always dream that some of that stuff sneaks its way into the Mission Architect, but considering how much isn't in the Mission Architect, I won't get my hopes up.
So I'm really really looking forward to that backflip costume change emote!!! Something I can probably use. -

Apparently we've all been answering a rhetorical question.

True. I wonder if any MMO has the kind of "end game" that Rusty is looking for. I doubt it. -
- Statesman TF
- Lord Recluse SF
- Imperious TF
- Mender Silos TF/SF
- Lady Grey TF
- Shadow Shard TFs
- Hamidon raid
- Rikti War Zone raid
- PvP
- Mission Architect
- Any leftover content from contacts, including repeatable missions
I don't do TFs/SFs, raids, trials, or PvP myself. My level 50 characters are mostly retired. I play a lot of alts.
