Well, I was thinking of doing the upper 40s hero story arcs with my level 50 Energy/Regen Stalker. I suppose I might get enough shards out of that, if I'm lucky, and I kill everything. But I was also thinking of doing hero flashbacks heavily with that character. And I have a lot of other characters to play. And again, there's that lack of incentive to get the shards.

I don't do those. My normal play is: do story arcs and miscellaneous missions. Solo. At level 50, I don't do those much. I have little incentive to play at 50, and getting shards every long now and then that are used for a slot that is best used for content I won't do... is not an additional incentive.

Yes. Well. Even if I do the arc to unlock the slot (which doesn't sound like a fun arc for me), I might expect to put something in the slot... in a few years of my normal play.
Yay for inherent Fitness! -
I was disappointed that Thanos went into a raving fit at the end. They basically reset him to being a genocidal maniac with Death refusing to talk to him. Still, I enjoyed the series over all.
And now that the Thanos Imperative is over, I don't plan to buy another Marvel comic until Queseda leaves. -
Quote:Issue 4 was mostly useless to me too, since it was all about the arenas and I don't do PvP. I got a some costume options out of it. If they can throw a few minor goodies in for me in Issue 20, I won't mind the focus on stuff I won't use.I am sorry for solo'ers but this is an MMO. Your solo content is untouched and from what i can see the incarnate system isnt really any use for soloing. Same for exemplaring. And you arent being completely ignore as you still have inherent fitness to look forward to.
And yes, I'm looking forward to the I19 inherent Fitness. -
Start with 1 for the first item, and double it for each additional item, up to a maximum of 10. So if you had just added some Spock ears, you'd be at a perfect 10.

I'm so shocked. This news will undoubtly cause me to start buying Spider-Man to see what happens. Wait, did Magog just get killed in Justice League: Generation Lost? Cool! I'll buy that comic instead.
I might look into Marvel Comics again some day, after Queseda leaves. -
Yes, that's the part I mentioned I don't do, which is why I'm not getting my hopes up for the Incarnate stuff. I'm currently assuming that any solo-friendly Incarnate mission content will be tiny at best.
-
Although I'm interested in picking up these new slots, I'm not encouraged with the hints about the related story content. Lots of TFs and trials. I don't do those. Normally I'm pretty much done with a character at 50. Playing solo friendly content related to the Incarnate system would be fun. Playing ordinary content at level 50 to get the slots (and stuff to put in the slots) just so I could do ordinary content slightly faster doesn't sound like much fun.
So I'm not getting my hopes up. But as usual I'll ask for the new TF maps and NPCs to be added to the Mission Architect, so I can make my own missions using them. -
Although that's good, I'd prefer to pick the original Dreadstar story. The one where he and friends destroy the Milky Way galaxy. On purpose.

I only have one character who uses Hasten regularly, an Ill/Rad Controller. For that character, Hasten comes in very handy, and the graphics seem to work all right with my color choices. I have one other character (Energy/Regen Stalker) who took Hasten at 49 and never uses it. None of my other characters has Hasten.
With I19, I might consider getting Hasten on some of my other characters. But there is that graphics problem. I also don't like the sound effects. Those are lesser concerns for me, though. Mostly I just didn't like the increased endurance drain from using powers faster, and by the time I had plenty of endurance to spare I just didn't need powers to recycle faster. My Ill/Rad was the notable exception. -
Since we couldn't change our costumes in the early days, I made sure to get my costumes the way I wanted them in the first time. Most of my oldest characters still have their original costumes (outside of some forced tweaks, such as with the skirts). These days I'm not so careful about it though.

It's a fun superhero game.
And it generally fits my play style nicely, except for the team-oriented stuff. And if I could put up with bypassing the team-oriented stuff for the first couple years, I can certainly put up with it now. -

Quote:Well, I haven't been 1-shot by the Halloween bosses yet, but they can chew up a lot of my characters. Most of my characters who are well-suited to the ToT badges finished with those badges last year. Most of my remaining characters will be avoiding knocking on doors this year. But my Praetorian Demon/Pain MM is pretty good at fighting the Halloween enemies. (My Praetorian Kin/Will stalker is hiding indoors until November.)My level 50 was getting 1 shotted by Vampires and Crones when ToTing. The GM's haven't been able to one shot me. I stuck it out in order to get the new accolade for that character but that's it. I'm ignoring the rest of this event and doing regular content.
The new Tip mission fails to interest me at all. I've done it a few times, but it's not worth the badges for me.
Frankly, I've been spending most of my time designing and playing AE missions. I got some good ideas just after the Halloween event started. -
I just remembered that I used to solo AVs occasionally, prior to Issue 7.
The AVs were all at least five levels below me. I let their missions sit in my mission list for a long time. Thankfully we have the AV->EB feature now. The game mechanics have improved a lot, as far as I'm concerned.
Oh, and I soloed a number of giant monsters before they introduced the purple GM patch. Back in the early days, the GMs each had a specific level, and you could outlevel them quite a bit to take them out easily. -
Quote:It's not even an interesting mission. You rush to the last room to fight the elite boss, trying to defeat him before the short timer expires and unleashes an ambush on you. And that's it. Beat the EB and the mission is over. Don't stop to admire the scenery, because time is short.I can't say I think much of this. You have to grind doors to get Tips to grind missions to get badges. Are we having fun yet?
Admittedly, it can be a fast mission. You have an incentive to finish it in under five minutes. Some of my characters won't be suited to doing that, but others shouldn't have a problem with it. My Will/Mace tanker zipped right through the mission easily enough. Still. Rush to an elite boss fight. Really not my kind of fun.
I really have a hard time getting excited over getting these badges. -
Quote:What does this mean? Are there actually new costume temp powers? After playing a while on the test server, I didn't see anything along those lines.
A few new Tricks and Treats like Costume Temp Powers... -
I voted for Phantom Girl. I think she's the longest serving member who hasn't been the leader yet.
-
Quote:I'm in favor of being able to solo elite bosses (because I'm stuck with them in my solo missions), but not AVs or GMs. AVs and GMs were intentionally meant for team play, and I have no problem with that, as long as the AVs downgrade to EBs in solo play for me.1. Do you favour the idea of being able to solo EBs/AVs/GMs, if so/not, why?
Quote:2. Have you ever soloed an EB/AV/GM, and if so how did you feel afterward?
Quote:3. Do you think the dynamic will change after the implementation of the Incarnate system?
Quote:4. Whatever else you wish to add.
I gave up on fighting AVs and GMs a long time ago. -
I created a character with the name "Mirai", just so I could have the name on one of the servers. But Mental Blast/Devices isn't working out for me. Hopefully I'll come up with a good use for the name in the game someday.
Normally I come up with a name that I think is appropriate for the powersets I pick. -
It was a superhero PC game, and Freedom Force was getting old. I played Freedom Force a LOT. (Certainly not as much as I've played CoH, but Freedom Force was a very tiny game in comparison.)
I was very wary of MMOs, because I'm very introverted, but I liked the graphics and character models, so I decided to give the game a chance. The character creation and combat style sucked me right in. I wasn't wild about everything in the game, but I had more than enough fun to keep me going indefinitely. -
Quote:I don't doubt the merits of the medium. Hellblazer wouldn't have lasted so long if it wasn't popular. Fables has won national attention for its storytelling. Y itself was quite a success.2. Y: The Last Man vol. 1 - "Unmanned" - The first Crisis meandered a bit and was much better drawn than written, while Y: The Last Man is something that I would suggest or point out to anyone that doubts the merits of the medium
It just doesn't interest me.
Similarly, I don't expect most people around here to like Claymore, even though I think it's an amazing manga series. Different people are amazed by different things. -
Quote:Ludicrous but stylish!Dear god, that looks absolutely ludicrous. They start adding crap like that, I'll have an aneurysm all over you.
Frankly, the original CoH weapons were ludicrously oversized too. Not quite as bad as what you see in a lot of fantasy games, but still too big. Fortunately the devs added a lot of more reasonably-sized weapons, and I ditched those huge legacy weapons in a hurry.
