Quote:You'll find most of the Aussies play on Justice, but a few are elsewhere.Hey all, newbie to CoH got it with the whole Going Rogue release
Been playing a couple of weeks now, on Freedom and Virtue.
Sydney hereyo!
Look me up if you guys are ever on Freedom (Hero) or Virtue (Hero)
@Angela Sparke
And welcome to the game. (token pom here but I play UK mornings a fair bit so aussie prime time) -
So, nobody want this ?
Looks like I may be slotting it if that continues to be the case by the weekend. -
I have one of these for sale, I have toons on all servers, although not necessarily both sides on every server, it's currently blueside on Victory.
Auction starts at 3BN, ends midnight eastern a week from now 23/10 (when I'll be asleep as I'm in the UK), will contact the winner on the 24th for delivery arrangements. Bids either here, via forum PM or ingame by email to @minotaur. -
Forgot about one of mine, a zombie stalker called "Give my love to rose".
The Johnny cash song of the same name is the inspiration, this is part of the lyric:
Mister here's a bag with all my money
It won't last them long the way it goes
God bless you for finding me this morning
And don't forget to give my love to Rose
Give my love to Rose please won't you mister
Take her all my money, tell her to buy some pretty clothes
Tell my boy his daddy's so proud of him
And don't forget to give my love to Rose
The premise of the toon is that the stranger ran off with the money, and the dying man is back from the grave to hunt him down. -
Quote:Sorry, that was in the context of where I thought you were saying you were going to save A-merits for purples, if you're buying 1 and 2 merit recipes, selling them and saving inf for purples, that's the right way to do it.How is spending two hero merits on a Miracle +Recovery a "waste"? I got an extremely rare recipe selling for tens of millions [or hundreds... have not checked the price on that lately] for.... running twenty missions total. No big deal. I'd have run those missions anyways. My point being, that I completely avoided spending influence, and running the missions generated a lot of influence and prestige for me.
If I make 150 million off the market and immediately have to turn around and give it right back to someone else for a recipe I need... yuk. -
Quote:I'd forgotten about the city of sidekicks stuff, it appears they reused a load of the decision code in Praetoriai want the April Fools' Day powers. Especially the Toy Bat.

Quote:If you wish to waste your A-merits, feel free to do so. You'd be much better spending 2 A-merits and buying something that sells for 150M then buying 6 or 7 of your 20M recipes rather than wasting 6-12 A-merits on them. Unless there is absolutely no supply of what you want, you will be better doing this, even if you have to seriously overpay.I wonder what will happen down the road when enough people start doing what I'm doing.
I use hero merits to purchase the recipes I need from the merit contact, rather than purchasing from the market. It's still far, far more efficient for me to pay one or two hero merits for a rare thing I need, than to spend twenty million at the market....and have to fight other bidders for the privilege.
Its slow going but very do-able. When I am done using hero merits for the smaller stuff, I will start saving for purples. Meanwhile my millions stay OFF the market, and its working well so far.
Flooding the market with rares will only drive down the price. This is a thing I dont mind - far from it - but I dont know how long the gravy train is going to last for people intent on doing this.
And don't even think of buying purples with A-merits. If you're going to do that sort of thing either spend 20 A-merits on 10 2 merit drops, sell them for 1.5BN, buy several purples, or go all the way and save up 30 for a PvP 3%def, sell it off market for 3BN and buy even more purples. -
Money can't buy you happiness, it can however rent it.
I decided time > money a long time ago.
I had a decision to make several years ago, carry on working and living as I was, retire in 10-15 years or live more cheaply, take a distance learning degree which would equip me to work in a different type of job, and maybe have to work 5 years at some point. I chose the latter. -
If I'm not too hung over after my exam on Thursday, will see what I can do.

Quote:Sorry, what's a "lombard room", in the UK LOMBARD is an acronym when talking disparagingly about somebody for "Loads of money but a real d..."
And FPARN. -
Good luck, I have open university exams in the next couple of weeks and CoH might be the reason I'm still vaguely sane, but if you can't ration your gameplay, it's probably better to be rid of it.
A friend just started one of his classes in the last week (games programming). The first slide his tutor put up was something like this:
Quote:How to do well in this module:
Early Advice
1. Learn C++ ASAP and I mean really learn it
More on the C++ Boot Camp in a minute
2. Learn to use Visual Studio ASAP, including running
projects using DirectX
3. Cancel your WOW account immediately
4. Think about your original game/team early on -
Quote:They'll be freespecs so you can just /respec for the first two, after that if you need more you'll have to see JW.Jack Wolfe is going to be very popular for a while. I wonder how many people crowded around him it would take to make it impossible to click.
And thinking about that, what happens if you are hovering when you begin the respec? Do you drop to the floor as soon as you start? -

Quote:The prices vary, the KC is in a bubble of 65-100, all the last 5 were 80 when I looked, the regen tissue unique SHOULD be a 1 merit purchase as it's a rare pool A, but seems to sell for 2. For reference the Kismet +acc which is a unique from the same drop pool only costs 1.So the +regen is not even in the running for tops. The Kinetic Combat D/E was my plan for direct purchases before I even looked--but I thought I saw 65-75 mio as the price yesterday. Sloppy data-gathering, I guess. I would not be surprised if the res/def price is a bubble also.

Hmm, 54 level 50s to respec (and probably a few more by the time we get to I19).
I'm going to need a rather large load of LotGs I suspect, and the solution for several of them will be the "take stealth pool and ram 3 LotGs in" one.
I don't take stamina on every toon, and my one really gross toon (my permadom) who thus far has not taken the fitness pool will benefit a lot from this. -
Agree with the earlier poster, computer terminal in base that allows you to use WWs would cut out all the irritation of people flapping their wings while running several flashing auras while you're trying to concentrate. Either that or effect (but not power) suppression.
Modify the Hess TF so that if one person runs ahead and triggers the trap, it doesn't lock the other 7 out of the entire room complex, while locking him out of the area with the second trap. -
Quote:The Uleap stealth looks like a bubble about to burst, most people slot them in sprint and will cotton on that the celerity one is currently cheaper so the prices will equalise. The set starts at 15, so if you got a level 10 one you'll sell it for a fortune.A quick check suggests that on Oct 6, the most valuable direct A-merit purchases--crafted--are Unbounded Leap stealth, lvl 10 at 100 million/Amerit, followed by
Steadfast Res/Def lvl 10 (save on crafting!), at 80 million/Amerit
Miracles look like they fluctuate as high as 100 mio/per, but mostly offer the standard big three's 75 million per. (Level 20 Miracle's salvage a bahgain!)
Caveats: I didn't check recipe prices and forgot to check Regenerative Tissue proc lvl 10.
Regen tissue 10 regen is about 85M, Kinetic combat 35 dam/end about 80. -
Quote:Would go quite a long way, but you're not my typeProtector is on the verge of getting the Mods to support them. We'd hate to have to turn our backs on you justice, how far are you folks willing to go?

Quote:Actually they said many times that AE XP was available as an alternative levelling path, and the intention was that it was just as viable (not more, not less) as developer content.*snickers*
AE was never intended to be a replacement for developer created content, and anybody who at least bothered to look at either the CoH loader or the CoH web-page in the runup to Issue 13 knew that AE was designed as a way for players to tell their own stories in the game, not as a way in which to gain levels. Only players who did not read anything about AE during the I13 beta, the I13 release, the I14 beta, the I14 release, the I15 beta, the I15 release, and so on and so forth, thought that AE was "forz Expz"
I think what is funny to me is that the tag-line that a player can level to 50 in the AE system is still in the player hints. I suspect marketing ordered it be put in as a trade-off for something else.
The devs intended AE to be viable for XP, just not viable for crazy abusive XP. It awards slightly less XP than the developer created stuff because you can pick your opponents to specifically match your strengths. You may be fortunate and find some standard villain group and mission is perfect for you, but normally a custom badguy on a custom map with ambushes will be better, and tighter packed on the map so you can kill them at least slightly faster. -
A member of my SG has a toon called Dogzard, a sort of dog/lizard hybrid which I read as Dogtard for ages conjuring up a different image.
-
My recent experience (merits rather than A-merits, do they roll on the same table ?) is that direct buying with A-merits would net more than random rolls. I've rolled about 1500 merits (lvl 50 toon, 35-39 with a few 30-34 rolls), and am averaging a estimated profit of about 8M a roll, but I've had very few of the really expensive recipes. That would mean an A-merit is worth 40M and clearly I can do better than that by buying specific recipes. Am however looking forward to my low level PvP +3% def (my toon has 21 A-merits atm) which if it's worth 3BN would be 100M an A-merit although I'm intending to slot mine.
I level locked one of my toons not to spend the A-merits, but because I found the level 39 tip missions much less frustrating than the 40+ ones. -
I had a name in mind to use at some stage, Epic McPhail.
I rolled a warshade, hoping to get some inspiration from the random costume button. I got a bunny with a pink and blue kilt and some other ridiculous features, and a little tidying up later I had my Epic McPhail.
Standup chameleon was another name (and obvious costume that went with it) that I just attached to the next toon I made after I thought of it.
I heard the album Baron von Tollbooth and the Chrome Nun, and that was two more reasonably obvious costumes to make. -
