Quote:From my experience with old posi which I used to farm, 50% faster maybe, although with inherent stamina that will reduce. What's "significantly faster"? 20%? 10%? Because I doubt you can get a 100% improvement, like, say, doing an Eden in 3 minutes - and yet 6 minutes Edens have been done on SOs.
On the other hand, your average PuG running through Eden takes, or used to anyway, about 2 hours or so. 6 minutes compared to 120 minutes - do I need to spell out the math here?
There's really no big argument to have. IOs can be a crutch helping players who don't know/abuse (again, pick your word based on perception) the game mechanics perform better, but for those of us who already did, the difference is ridiculously small. Most of what you can get from IOs, you can get from insps/buffs/debuffs, and insps/buffs/debuffs also offer more than what you can get from IOs. -
Quote:Have they fixed the absence of drops in PvP ? till then, they'll be going up.Just as a question on the market, what is the educated guess about when the PvP IOs will start coming down in price? Is it always going to be 'more people are making more characters, so things will always be more and more expensive' or can anyone see a point in the future where the PvP IOs will start coming down in price? Are we trending up or down?

Quote:That would be a disaster, groups that can farm them do them much more than casual players, so the median could be silly.Or, you know, the Dev's could just look at median time to complete a TF, rather than average.
Consider a set of numbers like you'd have got for the eden trial:
7 8 8 8 9 9 10 30 60 70 90
Median 9, average 28
I'd rather it was balanced off about 60 which I'd consider a "normal" playtime but that's not going to happen. Balancing it off 9 minutes would mean the only people who did it more than once were the speed teams, so it would never get rebalanced.
Close the exploits. If you want to, shut off some of the speed opportunities, but balance off a compromise between speed and casual, so that both camps will still do the TF.
New posi is a much better TF than the old one, but I do it exactly once per toon as it's stupidly under rewarded. I used to do old posi much more often as it had sensible rewards (and I actually enjoyed it).
To get back to the original subject, yes IO builds can make a huge difference to competion time for TFs. A defence softcapped blaster or permadom can chew through stuff relatively safely at a stupid rate, so as said earlier, the team can split up and do kill alls faster.
Alpha slot is much less of a problem as it can only be used on level 50 TFs. -
Stone melee offers great mitigation, which IMO you don't really need with stone armor once you get granite. IMO it's a better fit with a squishier armor set, I love my DA/SM and ice/SMs.
Fire offers great damage, but no mitigation, and thus is a great fit for granite, but will be more of a struggle to get to 32.
I've just done a mace/stone brute, and having done this, I won't be adding to my stable of 2 50 stone tanks (axe and DB). The brute has softcapped defences and good resistances to everything except psi, with softcapped defence to S/L and psi out of granite. Nearly as good as a stone tank but with a lot more damage. -
All lowbie brutes have end issues. Attacks use more end than toggles, so yes you slot them for end reduction. Do you have SOs yet (has 20 ish got to 22 yet) ? if not it will improve when you get SOs in stamina.
There are some good guides to endurance dysfunction focussed on brutes, but most recommend slotting for acc and end not damage pre SOs.
Your ultimate aim is to hit the defence softcap (45%) to all positions, so use sets that help you to achieve that, plus the steadfast protection res/def. -

Lrn2mrkt, I got 4BN for each of my 2 30 merit PvP IOs, are you really getting 266M for a LotG ? (they were about 150M at the time I did my transactions) and mine are off market so no -10% fees.
-
What I've done is either as above by glee mail.
Alternatively since I have toons on every server, glee mail the enhancement to a toon of mine on the relevant server. Use the trade window for them to give me all but 1BN of the price. Trade the enhancement for the last billion.
Have sold 2 4BN enhs in these ways and bought a 2BN. -

Another patch, another set of emails disappeared into the ether. I've partially respeced one of my toons (needs 4 respecs to get the relevant IOs out, done 1), and had the other IOs stored in email ready to slot.
Log on today to do part 2, and find all my emails have gone. Set of hecatombs, 2 sets of kinetic combats and some other stuff.
I've had this before and support usually restore it, but that's a toon I can't use for a few days while they sort it.
Really need to find out why this is happening but that's 3 times for me. -
Hero respec, when you enter the final mission, various doors seem to spontaneously open now. This can be a real problem if you have pets/confused badguys wandering around. Our +4 freakspec was really quite a laugh with the contents of the first big room and all the side rooms attacking us at once without us opening any of the doors.
As for the mender ramiel issue, I had a form email from support, the criteria are:
Must be 50
Must have GR
Must have Entrusted with the secret, easiest way to fix is to get the ouro explo badge
Must not have too many open arcs, and escrowed ones from a previous alignment definitely count. -
Quote:The criteria are as follows:Also the standard make sure arcs are not filled/open and room for missions. I saw some people in beta that said that they had to clear old stuff to get the mender to talk to them.
Must be 50
Must have GR
Must have entrusted with the secret badge (this was my issue, unaware you could have O-portal without it), get the Ouro explo badge to fix this.
Must not have too many open arcs, if you've switched alignment the escrowed ones from your old alignment count against the limit.
I got this on what appears to be a form reply from support, clearly lots of people have this issue.
I've unlocked 13 toons (I'll eventually do another 10 or so of my 56 50s), got uncommon boosts slotted in 2, and have enough stuff for a common in another.
My dark armor/stone melee tank's end is now fine post alpha slot (is there a combo worse for end use ?), and my mace/stone armor brute loves the extra recharge. -
I'm a pom that plays on Justice with the Aussies in their prime time.
As suggested, join Justice United and Australia channels.
For trapdoor, pull him out of the room with the lava and into the corridor and he doesn't regen at all. He does however hit squishies like a truck, so bring plenty of insps particularly purples. Also set the mish to -1.
There are organised activities Mon-Wed-Fri by the Aussie community starting at I believe 8pm Sydney time, check on the Oceanic section of these boards, but the component dropping TFs are likely to be run on at least one of these (Weds I think this week). Certainly in the recent past, there have been enough people to do a mothership raid on some of these days.
I've been out of the loop for a week or so as staying up to listen to the cricket means I haven't been waking up early enough to take part in them. -
I think the system would be improved by increasing the number of shards required to do stuff, but correspondingly increasing the drop rate. This would much reduce the probability of playing for an hour solo and making no progress.
I'm not sure if there is any difference in the chance of a shard dropping from a +2 relative to a +0, but if there isn't any, I would adjust that so there is. Many of these TFs can be run at +2, and that would be a nice incentive to do so, and reward a skilled team.
Apart from that, I'm joining the queue for whatever the OP's smoking. -

Quote:Yeah, but don't publish it as a guide, I don't want people spending (admittedly not that much inf) on the KB sets and finding they render the toon unplayable for them.Mileage varies for everyone, build your toons as you choose and I'll do the same, thanks.
I remember mace and axe when those powers did KB rather than KD and it was horrific. -
Quote:ANY melee toon should have very little trouble with the alpha slot arc (I've so far done it on 5 of mine solo), and any stoner can do +3x8 of anything that doesn't do non positional psi or horrific end drain. When the great forum migration occurred, it messed up the code in the builds that were posted, hence all the emoticons. Also the builds are prototype/blueprint designs, feel free to modify them to your preference. Newer designs were long ago created but lack of time and motivation precluded an updated guide.
Now that ish 19 is out, the builds have again been modified for my stone armor alts to use.
As to them being dysfunctional....."rechecks my stone armor alts and notes they have at least three of the Mo badges....rechecks the vid files created of them easily plowing through the Alpha slot unlock arc.....rechecks vid files of them easily handling +3/8 mobs....".....yep, real dysfunctional
My brute currently runs at 53.5% S/L def (I want some spare as my DDR ain't great), fractionally below the softcap to the others in granite, with 84% S/L res or 49% S/L def and 44.8% psi def out of it.
Add to that 3 +5% run speed and 3 +7.5%, and +50% global recharge from sets plus the spiritual alpha slot, I reckon the toon is much more functional than what you've posted, particularly as I don't have KB sets in my main attacks, so I won't have to chase stuff across the map when my KD becomes KB and will do a lot more damage.
I have 2 stone tanks and 2 stone brutes at 50, the first getting there in Jan 05 so I've played the set a lot. -
As others have said, use insps, use shivans if you have to, really is not difficult, a load of purples and BFs on a mish set to -1 should be no problem.

Quote:PEBCAKI will very partially agree with the 'Dislike' part here, having now done the Alpha Slot arc.
All I can say is;
****. You. Unlimited. Rikti. Portal mobs.
Go die in a freaking hole!
I genuinely hated that mission by the end of it. And I was spitting incadescent rage when my net dropped me while talking to the second EB
I r NOT amused....
You don't need to fight very many of those rikti at all. I worked this out first time through in the beta without being told how to do it. If you just try it in "button masher" mode, it's a lot more difficult than if you think your way through it (and pull the 2 EBs sequentially out of the room without aggroing many of the portal spawns). I used a vet blackwand . -
I can see the OP's point, I'm going to have to put about 60 toons through this arc, but it doesn't take long and for the first few weeks, finding a team will not be an issue and it's trivially easy on a team, as only on one mission do the EBs become AVs.
It's actually not a bad arc, but once you've read the flavour text once, turn it down to -1 and blow through it, find a friend if you need to.
We already have content like this, and I'm thoroughly bored with the hero cim unlock arc which I've probably done closer to 100 times, but if I want to go to cim, I either find somebody about to talk to the student or do the arc. -
Some of these builds are grotesquely horrible (was looking at the mace build in particular).
Mud pots either absent or single slotted, major attacks in your attack chain slotted with knockback sets so the attacks do KB instead of KD and are way underslotted for damage.
They smack of somebody who's never played them. Mud pots will do more overall damage than any other attack you have, slot it up.
The aim of overcoming the penalties is laudable, but not at the expense of playability.
Use a second build to deal with exemping.
I'd much prefer to negate most of the penalties of granite, but have softcapped defence to all but psi in granite, and just take rock armor/minerals/weave so I'm softcapped to S/L/psi when out of it. -
No PUBLIC server ... they could have an internal testing server with it on, but I agree, is unlikely to be anything else with a 4 hour window (although I thought they normally allowed 6 for a new issue).
-
Quote:I wonder why they don't just say "this is the new issue." Setting up a fallback in case of catastrophic failure, maybe?
Well if they just fix the current AE exploit of choice and ban a load of people, I see a gathering with torches and pitchforks forming in the bay area. -
I don't know what the fastest possible time for katie is, lowest I've seen is 19 mins since you haven't been able to fail the first mish (8 mins wasn't difficult then), but ITFs have been done in not much more for 3x the merits, katie could do with a lift.

What I don't understand is why the "originator" (or certainly the person who popularised this exploit) hasn't been banned and had their arcs removed. I know the devs/mods have been aware of this one for weeks, but no action, why ?
This tacit condoning of the exploit has utterly £$%^ed up the market, and has disinclined me and half my SG from playing the game atm.
I haven't seen that much spam, but have seen some in local in Atlas on Victory.
