... the ranged attacks on melee characters may need looked at in general.

LOL, & the melee attacks on ranged characters while they're at it then .
  2. Hey .

The Evil Echelon is a kind of medium size group currently .
We have a good, active & friendly player base across heroes & villains. The villainous element is currently plotting despicable schemes & evil is afoot in the shadows, waiting impatiently for i7 .
We're interested in good fun, friendly & relaxed play with good fun, friendly & relaxed people who like to participate in stuff together . We're big on group teams & activity & stuff like taskforces & badges .

Battled you on many occasions across Sirens' & Warburg & always enjoyed it, & Mr Nice always speaks highly of you. I'd be well up for roping you in.. ahem... asking if you'd ne interested . If' you would interested in finding out more about us, or want to drop into the group at any time to say hello or just see how you might like it send a tell @mighty cactus, @fire flux & @mackero .

    Lost the Plot

I'd definitely reccomend a new alt to break to casually, & something with different qualities to offer from scrapping.
I have a bunch of different alts, & cyclng around them makes me appreciate the different fun elements of the others. Got a ridiculous amount of hours logged on my scrapper, but even after 50 I still play him so much & he's always fun to go back to at anytime .

Have you got your reputation set to a reasonable level? I hit a terrrible run when my scrapper hit 30 & I just found everything too easy, but fixed that by banging the difficulty all the way up to Invincible. Can't promise Invincible will be the greatest challenge it should be, but at least it requires more care & attention than any of the other settings . I also found time & levels come & go by lot quicker following story arcs from the contacts rather than watching the xp bar too much.
  4. The self heal off Aid Self might not help much tbh. Spines deal toxic damage over time and mess up interuptibles .

I wouldn't reccomend Fly against Impale either . The way forward is using the great tools in that set to shut out the AS happening at all.

I don't think Spines is overpowered. The ranged element does pose a potent danger, but I'd probably concede to Energy being the most dangerous melee set overall.
  5. Grats fella !

    VOTE NICE !
  6. Big grats to Master Zaprobo & happy cake day !...

...awwwww, bah! The robots ate it all!

  7. I'd say for your purity, Super Reflexes would fit the feel of your character & suit your focus on the sword.

If you're interested in a great character background/orgin for a broadsword/super-reflex scrapper, talk to Plasmarch .

Both sets are pretty endurance hungry however, but then you do get a pretty interesting & not too common build in the deal.
  8. Be there as usual , only just finished clearing the jelly off my monitor & keyboard from last time !
  9. Yup, & building a Spines/Regen with the other arrangements of pools & powers I want to try before commiting to the free respec live .

At first glance, none of the builds are what I'd really call the PvP 'uber' builds

    - DA doesn't have the survivability of regen

    - The NRG/NRG blaster 'may' have taken a big hit with toggle dropping. Guess this will show us that (unless you are planning on actually playing a blaster as a blaster instead of a blapper, which will be groundbreaking )

    - Axe is probably not a great set for PvP on a tank. Tanks aren't expected to pump out damage but Axe has particularly slow animation and very high end cost. I've seen some axe builds work VERY well due to their damage output but they're one that does take practice to PvP with due to the end and animation issues, something you'll not really get in the limited time span of the event unless you've already got one on live.

Of course, this is all taken with a pinch of salt as you have no idea what's going to turn up on the night because of the nature of the event.

Personally, I'll be straight back to live if I walk into RV and see katana/regen, spine/regen, storm defenders, stalkers and blappers making up the majority of the population.

I'd much rather see a few more experimental builds turn up(looking at a dark stalker myself with the presence pool for fear overload)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, you probably just talked another player into taking regen over another set as it is .

Unfortunatley, as I've used the test repec up already trying some tweaks to my current build, so I'll be there with my own Spines/Regen, using the level up facility to try some further tweaking stuff . I'll add that's in addition to several corruptor sets I want to try & the unashamedly, very very FoTM and fun elec/elec brute I'll try too .

Nice idea with the stalker. Been thinking about the fear pool in that combination myself .
  11. Yeah thanks for arranging this. I had a great time & laugh, even considering this must be about the 6th time I've done it. A very cool & enjoyable TF, especially set to Invincible . Good job guys !

...spine/regens...just show a complete lack of imagination IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Cheers !

Some of us rolled our spikeys waaaaaay before PvP was a twinkle in the eye thankyou very much . I don't remember seeing another one the along the way from 30 to 50 at all. That was a while ago now. Tbh I see a lot more Katana/Regens around.

Sorry people look at them now/and/or roll them as a "FoTM" build .
I rolled mine without any idea how it played, or that it was apparrently an easy build. Oh well, I had a hell of a bunch of laughs setting my character to Invincible stupidly early & still pushing it hard enough to still rack up all my debt badges .

Sorry, I know you mention "in general" & I can genuinely accept what you're saying and I can see it in the way the builds you mention often get used. I wouldn't want to sound like I'm being overly defensive either. In all honesty I'll still be Lunging, & Impaling for a longtime after the set has been decreed the scum of the Earth. I still have huge fun with the character & I have no intention to stop playing it at all the apparent embarrassment I am meant to feel over the sets.

Sure if people seek out a build on the allure of ease then that's pretty poor & not very imaginative. Hopefully by speaking in general terms you're sparing such comments from those who rolled on concept or creative spur .

Apologies again if that sounded defensive . I'm not really one for casting odd opinions on what people want to play, and I choose not to criticise other players qualities based on one alt they have. Believe me, I can understand there's issues with PvP balance in the zones etc. You'll find me a lot on the wrong end of some sound thrashings as a squishy Dominator or even more squishy 'Traps MM .
  13. Ah yes, defence. Good point I'd over looked .

Oh well, if you missed the villains from The Echelon & 'Legion's villains group taking the fight back to the vermin hero counterparts, 'tis a shame, was a good laugh, & swung back & forwards pretty evenly for all in all honesty .

Tbh, we did move on to Warburg when, er how do you say... the company started taking a slide... Warburg was cracking !
  15. Traps generator really isn't too hot I'm afraid.
And any 'Troller or Dominator worth it's salt won't just be throwing you the odd one hold .
  16. Might be able to.

When I ran Quills in Sirens I got the MISS, MISS, MISS up, & trust me I can't see squat as a Spines/Regen. Does it not work the same for all damage Auras ?

Shame about Gravity Well. What Mag is it? Not got high enough to it yet, but I thought it was ok?

Is Stalker Mez protection better than Scrappers? 'Cos I really don't have many problems knocking a Scrapper out of Integration etc with my Dominator, & I've been held plenty as my Scrapper vs Controllers. Sure, I can understand a WS hold is far weaker, but I'm puzzled Stalkers would be so hard to hold by Controllers. I've seen them fall to troller holds a hell of a lot.

The trick is, a lot of heroes (more than villains) are level capped so can spend time just enjoying PvP - villains still have work to do to level.

Add to this the relative power of a L50 Hero vs. a L40 Villain and you can see how it can be easy to get disillusioned in a fight where you can barely scratch defenses, and damage an accuracy outweighs your own.

Plus, I expect more people play hero primaries, and have hero accounts than the villain side of things.

I've been in some great villain teams in Sirens and Warburg before, but they are the exception rather than the rule.

    [/ QUOTE ]

IMHO there's a lot of players with heroes AND villains out there, but in a big fight, most seem to opt for going with the easy mass hero pwnage with their mains, rather than once in a while bite the bullet & play the apparently underwheliming villains.

Great battles in Warburg this afternoon. I logged over to the villains & stretched my Dominators legs, & teamed with Zap' on some A R&D field tests . Great team, & great players. The villains handed the heroes their sorry hides . Shows what impressive work can be done on a good villain team .

Broke a Granite tank twice, downed a couple of Regens & murdered a fair few defenders & blasters .

Come on heroes, don't be afraid to stick it out with your villain alts once in a while! I took down a lot of villains today as my hero, but every hero I took down with my villains was against the odds & infinitely more enjoyable .

    Hi ho.
Finally got my dom to lvl 20 (the unlucky charm) and zipped into sirens to try him out. Obviously got beat a few times but I can see he might be quite powerful later on. Anywho, what got me is that there seems to be more heroes in defiant pvp than union pvp. I dont play defiant much so maybe I've only been in during the peak hero times. Are there always so many more heroes than villains in defiant pvp? When i logged in there were 19 heroes and 4 villains

    [/ QUOTE ]

er... was this today, this afternoon? The Echelon & Liberty Legion were in Sirens hotspotting to celebrate a Legion anniversary.

Hope you didn't leave too soon as you'd have missed a few of us swapping to villains to even it up a bit. We even fought our way to Talos Park from a very sieged villain base .
  19. Are there any spaces left?
I quite like the idea of a late night Moonfire tf .
  20. CoV lacks an "Atlas Park" area. Say what you want about the broadcast spam there etc, but one of the things that CoH benefits from, when it's busy, is a focal point for activity. You have an area where new players come into the game & several routes in & out of the zone, & it's grown to be a primary point for meeting up, staging costume competitions & events etc. IMO it's a glaring error leaving a type of zone like this out of COV. Mercy' pretty much is used for coming into the game & going straight through to Port Oakes. A few people go there to spam broadcast with SG invites & that's about it.

It's sheer genius for CoH to have the entrance point to Recluses Victory right in Atlas City Hall. The area should be pretty busy with plenty of high level characters going in & out, & for new players adds to the sense of awe that pervades Atlas when you first start out. CoV could really use a similar focal point.

As for the environments in COV. I think they're fantastic & suitably atmospheric for the Rogue Isles environment. If I ever hanker for the bright sheen of Paragon, I'll log into the hero side for a bit. And I guess the mayhem mission maps set in Paragon will be a welcome break for some people. Personally I just relish the thought of getting into Paragon & smashing the place up. Stupid heroes & their stupid shiny city .

I prefer CoV hands down of CoH. The overall structure & content of CoV, even in it's infancy is by far much more interesting & involving than CoH, and I think the ATs have much more interest & character over the heroes. I can't wait to see this game grow over the coming year or so .

    3vP is coming!

    I signed up .

I don't have any other characters available for this.
My villains will be involved if it's still happening, as they level, & they are much more support role based. Sorry I don't have anything else apart from an apparently "FoTM" build , I know 3VScrappers wouldn't be too fun, so feel free to chuck my place to anyone that's more suitable if there's too much of one thing siging up. Cheers .

I'm a n00b in the arena anyway, so I expect to be made a fool of .
  22. Character name: Mighty Saguaro
Global Handle: @Mighty Cactus @Evil Thistle
    Archetype: Scrapper
    Powersets: Spines/Regen
  23. Happy birthday Plight !

Hope the cake isn't MoG'ed so you can actually eat it !
  24. Thanks for postig this Stalk .
I've been thinking about Mighty's respec, & seeing as I;m subservant to the free ones these days I have to think about them a lot .

I've been thinking over Assault & Tactics myself. The thing is, I still play a hell of a lot of PVE with Mighty' & there's a couple of things I'm really reluctant to drop character wise .
Still, thanks for some ideas on where I might take him next.
