  1. /Thorns is reeeeaaally nice. Chuck in Poisonous Ray for even more -def and a really nice -Res debuff for more damage .

My Plant/Thorns has %chance Build Up and a whole bunch of +damage procs and buffs from sets too .

I played with an amazing Ice/Psi' Dom' on Union last night. The build looks an amazing amount of fun play . I'm totally sold on rolling one.

...the real problem comes because once most villains hit lvl 5 they vanish to port oakes never to return - unlike atlas where you get people moving through the zone to get to other zones and a lot of lowbies hanging about chatting to the higher levels that hang out under the Atlas statue.

We are not anti teaming at all - maybe a bit more independant then heroes.

I would disagree that CoV union is Poo for teaming what an odd comment to make.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Villains is more poo for teaming overall, and not specific to either Union or Defiant.

The reason IMO is pretty much the exact reason Dark_Orgasmo says. Big mistake having Mercy -> Port Oakes -> Cap' such a linear journey.

Atlas is a hub of activity throughout the levels and people come and go through it right up to about 40ish, if they ever stop visiting at all. Access to RV is right there in City Hall and pulls at least a few frequent passers by. Atlas becomes such a formative place for new players, meeting new people, seeing higher level characters as aspiration and inspiration for their own.

People still go all the way back to Atlas to ding 50 from Miss Liberty. Villains just ding off some crappy characterless Aribitor in Grandville.

Because Mercy is so bereft of any real community spirit most people rush hell for leather through it and straight to Mercy to never look back.

Atlas is a much more successful cornerstone of the Hero Community. I was very surprised the villain zones were laid out as they were. Nice idea for a sense of progression, sure, but I'm sure there must be plenty of new players that give up by the time they get to Cap' never having had the best of chances to enjoy a community at all.
  3. We took the flier down last night with about 5 villains and Shivans.

I was on a team of 4 and a Mastermind, out of the team was present. If there were others, I didn't see them. The battle didn't last long enough for anyone else to really get involved tbh.

It went down really quickly and we destroyed it at the fist landing point we found it at with no real strain or trouble at all .

Edit: I'm guessing Gravitos was probably there if that's referring to last nights Shivan gank fest .
  6. My Flytrap mixes it up pretty well and no complaints tbh.

It equally immobs and throws thorns from range as much as it charges into melee and bites.

The ranged stuff is great anyway, and it's not shy about letting it all fly .
Happy with my Flytrap. Can'tremember anytime it's caused any "Pet aggro" problems at all. It's a great pet and compliments my Dominator well.

All the times I've played with anyone hauling Jack around he just seems really reeeeeally timid .

I think the problem that majority or people just arent competitive enough, nor can stand the harsh reality of going against real people compared to the soft fluffy computer-controlled opponents of PvE. But thats just my opinion

PVP in this game is the best I have so far come across in a PC game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Been trying to articulate this for some time now but you just hit the nail on the head

    [/ QUOTE ]

Have to disagree entirely. I'd say that's fairly dismissive.

I think people are plenty competitive enough. The whole PVP thing IMO is attitude of a certain quality that is, frankly, just boring. It's not "harsh", insulting or offensive. It's just tedious and most people are probably more inclined to do the activities ingame that are fun and involve sharing a good time and fun together.

I have to ask whether you mean the best PvP in an MMORPG game Hammer'. I'd find it suprising that COX PVP has the best that any PC game has to offer .

Thread's about Defiant population, and I have to agree, it's really poor. Union sits at around 300+ consistently. That's way over Defiant which floats pretty meekly over around 120ish.

Better prospects for teams and community seem likely in a higher populated server, and the chance to maybe participate in things like a villain Hamidon raid at some point.
  8. Disagree that ALL PPP Dominator powers aren't any good.

Black Scorpions Poison Ray is IMO very nice. Great defense debuff, nice res debuff and goes very well in an attack chain with AIM and the boost from Domination (specially when my Decimation Build Up proc' on Thorn Barrage triggers ).

I find the Scorpion Shield pretty useful too.

Shame about the AOE, yes. I'd love another good cone or AOE on top of Fling Thorns and Thornburst seemed so underwhelming when I tried it.

The Black Scorpion pet... that's a different, much much worse story .
  9. Have fun with your Plant/Thorns Dominator. It's an awesome AT and a great build . Anyone dismissive of it in their team is a bit, erm... ignorant .

My Plant/Thorns eats mobs and deals with aggro better than any Brute .

    More Dominators plz!
  10. Any planned Hamidon raids coming soon? Anyone.... ?

Does this mean you think villains are less powerful than heroes?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Come on, every top PvP team in the US is Hero, in fact show me a succesful team on the EU/US servers that is a majority of Villian AT's.

The only things people want is Thermals, and then they're just a compliment to Empaths with thier Res shields, not even as good when it comes to other buffs or heals.

People who still say Villians are fine are a bit bewildering really o.o

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dont get me wrong. I agree. I just thought I was one of about 5 who thought that. Seems most people say "lol. pvp is balanced, learn to play and get a team", or "I pvp'd as a villain in bloody bay once for about 5 minutes and owned" while laughing up there sleeve. Then at the next pvp event they are like "I'm playing an ice/em blaster and would really like to team with an empath, preferably ill/emp".

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Nailed . Right there.
  12. K, basically the only way I play & will ever play this game is making characters I like, with sets I like to use and interest me.

I do like PvP, but I get it hard a bit as I have afew characters that do have a really hard time the way PvP is in reality.

Unfortunately, I'll never make a pure PvP build at all, as where I try to do a bit of research and learn about builds, PvP viable sets seem to drift well away from what I want conceptually for my character and my enjoyment of it.

There seem to be quite a few sets and combinations that really rule the coop, and tbh I just got to the stage where I'm bored seeing them.

I like relaxed PvP with unusual stuff and pretty much tend to just PvP quietly in arena with friends.

I'm not moaning that every set should be the same and everyone should have identikit heroes, but in the first case point I'm saying why I probably don't put much weight behind PvP as I might.
  13. If you want to make a video, you might want to take off the team buff icons that otherwise obliterate everything, and make what would have been a cool video to watch, particulary boring .
  14. Arena duels, 1 on 1, Dom's vs Scrappers are stupid. I've found my Plant/Thorns Dominator awesome in squishy fights tho', and I'm a n00b with it .
  15. Kheldian background question:

At what point in the COX timeline did Kheldians reveal their presence or their presence become widely public knowledge?

I seem to think it's been fairly arbitrarily mentioned to have followed the Rikti War.
  16. [ QUOTE ]

Some of the responses on this thread say more about the relative state of PvP experiences than they do about the design of the zone.

Seriously, if you don't like people farming, drop the farmers.

I have to agree with this summary.
  17. Now using the second bind and totally loving it .
I had been utterly unaware of the "target_custom_next" command until now.

Great command and great posting posting it ! Thanks very much!

Yep the first one for dead enemies isn't that big a deal but nice to have around anyway.
  18. Mighty_EU

    Magnitude Cap?

As far as I understand Meglomaniac doubles the duration not the magnitude?

I'd be interested to know if it affects magnitude too .
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Just a little addition here guys.

/bind [ "target_custom_next enemy defeated" to target a defeated foe in battle, for ease of Unchain Essence, and Extract Essence.

    /bind ] "target_custom_next void$$target_custom_next quantum$$target_custom_next cyst$$target_custom_next sapper"

Press that once and it'll pick up any potential bad day in the up-coming mob.

    Enjoy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh nice ! Never seen this one before .

    Anyone used it?

Oh, have to say my tri-form WS is fricking good fun!!! And close to being my all time fave' characer after my Plant/Thorns Dominator .
  20. Mighty_EU

    Dom Damage Buffs

    Edit:

Thanks to Max for putting my question/idea better.

I'll get back to what I SHOULD be doing .
  21. Oh hey, you can always start thinking about adding Inventin' benches now we know they'll be available as base items.
  22. Oh btw if you are planning to ever do the Cathedral Trial if it ever rears it's head again, you will need a Raid Teleporter and 6 Anchors in addition to a vault.
  23. At the current time... no.

But hey, your villain group actually gets a Strikeforce out of it.

Heroes have the fanciest, most useless deserted basements ever .
