Shy, Single or Scornful?
CoV Union has been poo for teaming since a month after release when the whole CoV bubble popped. Make a toon that can quite easily solo, or u'll find ure self levelling really slow unless you have SG or a regular team to PvE with.
Villains can be strange like that, one day is manic in mercy and the next its dead, the real problem comes because once most villains hit lvl 5 they vanish to port oakes never to return - unlike atlas where you get people moving through the zone to get to other zones and a lot of lowbies hanging about chatting to the higher levels that hang out under the Atlas statue.
We are not anti teaming at all - maybe a bit more independant then heroes.
I would disagree that CoV union is Poo for teaming what an odd comment to make.
Well, having spent many months playing CoV and the last 2 weeks playing "the other game" (sorry I just can't do it, I'm a villain at heart and can't say it )
I feel that the teaming has been in decline.
I remember back when I first tried heroes I got plenty of invites on my low level toons, and while leveling my main (CoV) I got plenty of invites too.
However in recent times even having myself flaged as looking for a team doesn't help. Then Murphy's law always seems to come into play and it's only when I'm in the middle of a mission or I have to quit for lunch/dinner/sleep that I finally get an invite.
Any time I've tried organise teams in CoV most people aren't bothered joining unless they are low enough level compared to the rest of us that they can be a PL leech in the team.
I haven't tried organising any teams in CoH as yet as still need to learn my way around the game, but I would hope that people are far more willing to accept invites there since most ATs are either support ATs/too squishy/too low in DPS to solo (playing the hollows frostfire mission as a tank was damned painful it was such slow going) effectively IMO.
Perhaps the global bug costing so many people so many friends has been part of the problem, I mean why try make more when you can't help but feel that they'll only get deleted on you next time the bug hits. Then there's the question as to if perhaps it's just that many of the more pro-team players have moved on from CoV? The fact of how difficult people seem to find it to organist SF/TFs and respecs would lead me to believe it's perhaps the latter as I do remember a time when they used to be run quite often, sometimes in one game a couple of repecs a day and a few SF/TFs could happen, now the only SF/TFs you get that with is the latest content (at the moment the Statesman SF I believe) which means that what people will eagerly team for seems very much subject to FoTM.

Villains is more poo for teaming overall, and not specific to either Union or Defiant.
The reason IMO is pretty much the exact reason Dark_Orgasmo says. Big mistake having Mercy -> Port Oakes -> Cap' such a linear journey.
Atlas is a hub of activity throughout the levels and people come and go through it right up to about 40ish, if they ever stop visiting at all. Access to RV is right there in City Hall and pulls at least a few frequent passers by. Atlas becomes such a formative place for new players, meeting new people, seeing higher level characters as aspiration and inspiration for their own.
People still go all the way back to Atlas to ding 50 from Miss Liberty. Villains just ding off some crappy characterless Aribitor in Grandville.
Because Mercy is so bereft of any real community spirit most people rush hell for leather through it and straight to Mercy to never look back.
Atlas is a much more successful cornerstone of the Hero Community. I was very surprised the villain zones were laid out as they were. Nice idea for a sense of progression, sure, but I'm sure there must be plenty of new players that give up by the time they get to Cap' never having had the best of chances to enjoy a community at all.
Hey all, I wud have to agree with the comments on teaming. I have found that the "lft" comments in team search seem to be of no use and u have to badger people and are always asked "Wat lvl mobs?" etc. I personally like to team as much as possible and im my SG we team up nearly every night and aren't fussy about who joins thus expanding our online friend base which is all guds, gud times and gud laughs are my motto.
I always thought we left Mercy Island as fast as possible because you can only kill so many snakes before you go insane. That said:
I really don't get the whole CoV is poo for teaming thing. Now, I don't have Heroes so maybe teaming is golden there (maybe because it looks like some Archetypes NEED to team for their powers to work, the poor bastards) but on Union the longest I've ever had to go without a team is something like 20 minutes. If none of my friends are on and putting my settings to "looking for anything" doesn't help, I usually just send a few polite tells to people near my level and soon I'm crushing some skulls in-character.
I understand maybe the CoV teaming thing: We've got a brute that needs the aggro charging ahead, a Mastermind who is a team on his own and when he's around everyone complains about his pets blocking doorways, stalkers who assassinate and then run hoping the team can handle the doom he's just brought upon them, and, well, I can't think of silly examples for Corruptors or Dominators. But still, you can get it to work...you just have to think more about team dynamics.
Bah, I'm rambling. All I'm saying is that I don't solo at all...Union is poo for teaming just means you need to make more friends or actually send a nice tell to someone that contains more than "Brute lv4 lft" because that [censored] is stale man. Old hat, even.
I've found my tell "sorry to intrude but things seem quiet right now as far as teams go. Mind some company?" to be the rather successful solution to forced solo-tude.

I like to team as much as possible too, even felt very magnanimous playing with a level 1 in a team the other day from my heady heights of level 6 char....(The moment of realisation being when he said in reply to me telling him to rest...."I don't have that yet". lol)
Which SG is it you are with, if you don't mind me asking?
Yo Redsnake, my SG is Ultimate Darkness. Take it easy mate glad to hear sumone on my wavelength

ok..you got me , i do the usual team setting to anything malarky, but don't usually go as far as to ask people if they wanna team. I fall into the first of the three catagories, u see! SHY. And also don't want to generally show people that I have my embaressing newbie traits. But perhaps its time for me to come out of my MMO-shell.
Whats the worse that could happen....(they could ridicule, laugh, scorn, sneer and ultimately reject me! scary flash-backs to all girls private high school! ohhh vicious! :S)
All my villain toons have something along the lines of "Forms & runs teams, please ask for invite" in their msg box, I've found this helps an awful lot.

Ah thank you mate, was on the edge of loosing a sordid fantasy, and we all know there are precious few of those to go around these days..... it's about time someone set up a charity to save them from extinction.
Sorry may have slipped off topic slightly
Yes being a girl tends to be part of the pre-requisite to attending said school, (its was on the entrance exam and everything )
...Being mal-adjusted, hard-nosed b**h at the end of it due to over-exposure to estrogen, tends to be an interesting side-effect only.
Big brother this year is pretty boring for anyone who lived it for 7 years! You didn't miss out on any fantasy boys...if they'd let you loose in there you'd have been chewed up and spat back out
I think villains has always demanded that you apply more effort to get teams. I have no idea why this is the case but it does seem a number of people struggle. That said I don't normally have any problems (but as others will say it does seem quieter then perhaps it once was). The reasons are numerous but the main reasons why is probably due to having an extended friend network and an active supergroup and coalitions.
Although you may not appreciate it at the moment finding like minded people can be the start of a beautiful adventure of villainy (its just about getting the ball rolling). When I was starting out and faced similar problems I managed to form lots of Pick Up Teams (PUGs). This resulted in tending to team with the same people on various occasions and then looking out for each other.
In closing good luck, I have always enjoyed my stay on union villains and hopefully you find out that was just an off day (you do get a few of them). Put a happy to team in your search comments and remember to switch on looking for missions etc (although majority of people don't seem to). Doing so does make those peoples looking to form/create a team life that little bit easier.

Well was playing a newer toon for part of the night last night and did get a few invites at least, unfortunately the only one that came at a time I wasn't about to quit was one which was to a team where they all stood around and did nothing for ~10mins, only one of them had said that they needed to go AFK, so I ended up quitting after running about for a while (both in and out of the mission).
Hopefully the next PUG will be better...
Just came off of Union Villains and pretty much gamed the whole time on my lonesome, even though was looking for team. It certainly was the quietest gaming experience I've had on CoX so far. So made me think that the Villains on Union aren't very pro teaming maybe....or is it me?
Was playing a new character so was only lvl 4 grinding my way, but when I've played similar low level characters as hero on Union or on Defiant (as either) still seem to get lots of ppl who invite to team, can't get on for 5 mins before get some sort of invite...
So are people shy, single play focused or just scornful of my little brute, in which case when does teaming become more common here...Lvl 10, 20...?
