Looking at activation time and duration, I thought that might be the case. I can see some utility in it for the alpha. Anyone, think there's a better ancillary? Just curious.

Folks,
I decided to switch away from the defensive based toons and try something new for a change.... enter Kat/Elec. I've put a build together but It's not quite where I want it. I opted to cap melee/lethal with one application of DA. I'm going to aim for the Spiritual Boost for the Recharge. However, I'd like to get Hasten closer to Perma and Energize to Perma. Also, I'd like to avoid using purples and pvps if possible.
Any ideas?

I posted this a while ago and I believe it got lost in the mix. To be fair there were quite a few interesting threads going on at once. I'm itching to try a new toon and think I'm going to give this guy a go for a change of pace from my Def-Based Scrapper Stable.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. -
Ok, so I've never seen one of these. It appears to me that these sets have some synergy though. Here's a build I came up with really quickly. With the slotting below it appears I'll be taking 10-12% of the incoming damages between the resistance and the defense. My Regen is up around 426% when energize is up (it's only down for ~10 seconds) with a 42% heal every 40 seconds. What are your thoughts scrappers?

Tonality,
You make some good points. I'm very familiar with the shield set. I've got a Fire/Shield that I've invested ~600 million into so far... and he's not done so I know what you mean there. And as much as I like shield, I was wanting to try something different. The real advantage of WP in my mind is the fact that you've got the ability for unlimited endurance and extremely high regen. Given that I'm really enjoying this toon I'm likely to stick with him. Partly because its a concept I've worked out so I can bring this toon blue side once GR hits.
I'm liking it so far and I think he's gonna be a blast to play to 50.

So, in your opinion, I'd be better off to re'roll this toon as Shield (or SR) if I wanted this to be my main?

Again, than you greatly for your help with this. Based on what I see, I'm thinking 35ish% to the main types is pretty good and the regen will cover up that last bit. My guess is that with a build similar to Fin's that it would be approximately as survivable as a softcapped shield. Does that seem reasonable? -
Alpha and Find,
I appreciate your feedback this has been hugely helpful. I do want to focus more on S/L since it is so prevalent (i'd like to cap to all positions, but know how difficult that is). I'm at work I'm gonna look at both of your builds when I get home and see what I can come up with.
I'm loving this toon right now. He's a ton of fun to play (think robotic arms and the alternate animations with the fist pound instead footstomp). This toon may wind up being a main in the future so your help is greatly appreciated!

The biggest thing I think that will help you is changing from positional defense sets to typed defense sets. Also, if you start calculating survivability numbers, you will find slotting for HP in High Pain Tolerance yields better results, with the best results being managing to fit both HP and resists in this. I'm also not a big fan of impervious skin. I'd think reactive armor would be more handy there.
I was going to comment on the slotting of fast healing and health, but overslotting fast healing actually is yielding better results.

I agree that going for positional defense is a mistake here, I actually was shooting for F/C/N/E def slotting. It seems the best I can do is around 35% ish to the different types. I didn't see offhand how I could work anymore in though. Do you have some recommendations? Thanks in advance.

I'm working on leveling up a brute, which I've listed below. If you folks could please take a look and let me know what you think, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I've used my mids-fu to come up with what I'd call a compromise build. Currently if you factor in resistance and defense, I'd wind up taking approximately 10-11% of the damage for any given type (with the exception of psionic). Due to working on the defenses, I've had to compromise and only get 715% regen (with 1 in range of RttC). My current hitpoints (without accolades) are sitting at ~2199.
If you folks spot any glaring errors, I'd sure like to hear your thoughts.
Also, if you can figure out how to hit the softcap to F/C/N/E Id like to hear that too.

So, as far as working towards influence... I find that plenty of salvage and recipes drop during normal missions. As others have said, inf pretty much appears out of thin air. If that's not your style. There's a million and one AE missions to run. There's a lot of them that are fun, challenging, and some that are outright impossible. Find your flavor. When I get bored, I head there and try something different, then I take the tickets and use if for rare salvage. Youll get 1-2 mil a pop for them (or you can use them for the recipes you need to craft...or heck craft some recipes to sell with the salvage).
On an unrelated note,
Question for folks: I've managed to use some MidFu to come up with a build using no purples that nets me over 270% Regen, gives me over 1800 HP, 30% resist to sm/lthl and ~14% to most other types, and is right at the softcap for positional def (ok, ok I'm only at 42+ on AOE). My question is - I've got one power pick to shoe horn in and I can either take Hasten for the Recharge goodness (I'm at 45 % without it) or I can take OwtS for the DDR. Your thougths scrappers? Thanks in advance.

You know it's funny that you bring this up. I was running my Fire/Shield/Fire Akrasia last night and was tweaking Mids a bit. I noticed this same thing. It's good to know!

Good stuff. Much obliged for the help! I like the look of this build Sant. It's going to run me some more inf, but it looks to be worth it. Dropping maneuvers should save me on end use a little as well. I think trading 10% resistance all the way around is probably a worthwhile trade to have SL up more often. As always, the scrapper board comes through again!

Here's my current build that I'm working towards. I'm pretty sure this isn't an optimal build. You'll note I only have ~37% global recharge, which is a little lower than I'd like. However, I'm softcapped to all positions, have ~30% resist to smash/lethal damage, ~261% regen, and201% recovery. My goal was a very tough build without using any purples.
That said, since you brought it up, I wouldn't mind a bit of critique from the experts out there. I'd like a little more recharge if possible, but really don't have the inf on hand for purples. Thoughts folks?

The beginning of the season was great for candy canes. I noticed during the preview day that the candy canes were bringing a hefty price at the market. I decided to try an experiment. I fount a loop through steel canyon farming the presents. On a roughly 7 minute loop the lowest amount of candy canes that dropped were 4 and the most was 10. The price fluctuated through the first couple days anywhere between 150,000 to 250,000 per cane. Every 7 minutes I would drop the candy canes into WW (it was right in the loop for efficiency sake), check the going rate for the canes and sell them for the going rate. By the time I made the next loop, the canes I had put in previously had sold. This was netting me approximately 10-15 inf an hour. It made my little scrapper a good chunk of change. At one point, Lord Winter smiled upon me. I entered a stack of 10 canes into WW overnight for 150,000 and logged. When I woke up in the morning, I found that someone had bid on the stack....but had an extra zero for their bid on 10... BANG! 150 mil infl to me shining in WW. Life is Good!

I rolled a Fire / Shield scrapper a few weeks ago and must say that I really like how it feels. That said I wanted to get some advice from the experts. I'm posting my current goal build. This will not be a money is no object build but something more attainable since I'm not rolling in influence. Hello Controller Boards.
I rolled up a new controller over the weekend, a plant/TA. I'm pretty much a noob to controllers. I have a general questions and I wanted to get some feeback from the professionals.
1. I've heard Oil Slick is still broken. Is that true?
2. I've rolled this character specifically to do some splatrolling, but would still like to maintain some usefullness on teams (if that's possible). Tips on that front? <I'm looking at you Enantiodromos>
3. I assume the skippable power in plant is the sleep?
4. Is Ice Arrow worth getting or is it skippable?
Just some general questions coming from a noob (i'm sure that's obvious).

Much more fun (to me) than buying them. Not to mention with all the AE farming, i'm making a killing on all the salvages that demons and bp drop. On ave. 25000-150000 per. (thorn tree just sold one for 150k) I can fill up salvage in a couple runs and make about a mil off them.
