Katana / Electric Armor Build Help Needed

Auroxis

Posted

Folks,

I decided to switch away from the defensive based toons and try something new for a change.... enter Kat/Elec. I've put a build together but It's not quite where I want it. I opted to cap melee/lethal with one application of DA. I'm going to aim for the Spiritual Boost for the Recharge. However, I'd like to get Hasten closer to Perma and Energize to Perma. Also, I'd like to avoid using purples and pvps if possible.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Forge

I'd like to see some no-limit Katana/Electric builds.

Auroxis posted this build in another thread. It may be closer to what you're looking for.

[QUOTE=Auroxis;3545258]While you can get softcapped S/L on a Elec Armor, this isn't something I would aim for on a Kat/ scrapper. Melee/Lethal softcap with 1 DA is a good goal.

I have this dream build for Kat/Elec. Not that useful for you ken but maybe you'll get some ideas from it.

Here's one with perma hasten and practically permanent energize. Also has shadow meld for an extra layer of mitigation, as well as more than 45% melee/lethal (hell, roughly 55%) with 1 application of DA. This will definitely help when fighting things with -def (lethal things, guns, swords, etc).

Only immediate problem I can see is the accuracy vs +4s. It's not quite at the 95% mark, but it's pretty close (and if you're running a +1, you'll likely only be fighting 53s anyway, so you should be ok most of the time).

If you wanted to, you could flip two of the obliteration sets over and fill it with eradication instead. That would yield more range/AoE defense (and f/c/n/e, naturally, and more hp), while dropping only 10% recharge. Hasten would be recharging in 120, so it's not technically permanent, but it still practically is. Energize and Shmeld also lose about 1 second of downtime. If that's worth more passive defense, I leave that to you to decide.

Thanks for posting the build Mighty!

I'd just like to add, my build didn't have an incarnate slot enabled at the time, so keep that in mind(Could go Musculature or Spiritual).

Here's my current take.
Convert type to vectored.
Sacrifice some recharge for Defense, Shadow Meld, and Power Surge.
Results in 45/32/30 more or less.

Then Added Glad -Res Proc
Then Added Shadow Meld and Power Surge for additional situational layered defenses.

You can tweak the defenses a bit with the PBAoEs. You can remove the Glad Proc, or Swap one of the others to vary defenses to 41/34/33 or 45/32/33. I liked the balance of 45/32/30 with the Glad Proc.

I went common Spiritual Alpha.

Next I'd like to see a similar build with FA.

Folks,

Great stuff! I really like the ideas posted above. Shadow Meld had occured to me as well. Do you guys like it in actual gameplay?

Shadow Meld's lengthy activation time and relatively short duration makes it an "Alpha soak" power. As in, activate before you enter the fray. You can use it in the middle of combat, but only use it if you must as it will take a toll on your DPS.

Also, the long activation times likely means it won't save you like energize would, because most enemies will get another attack off in the time it takes you to fully get that bonus, thus making you waste your shmeld, and you still end up dead.

Looking at activation time and duration, I thought that might be the case. I can see some utility in it for the alpha. Anyone, think there's a better ancillary? Just curious.

Well, my build has Conserve Power from Body Mastery instead of Power Sink. This gives more DPS as Energize and Power Sink don't need to be used as often in prolonged fights(but loses out on Power Sink's mitigation through drains).

I actually run water spout on my katana/regen, it's... different, but it totally works as wacky-mitigation and moderate damage output. I love it.

I have caltrops on a Regen for Rain-Dancer type mitigation. It's a bit wacky, but since spike damage is regen's weakness, it works by spreading out the damage over time. I've never decided if I want to keep the Caltrops or Shadow Meld on that character.

Same, plus you can grab hibernate for another "oh $#@%" power.
