It's not the size of the sword.

I don't really like the "so tell me how much you were looking for" type pawn/antiques reality shows. And I'm also not really crazy about the "boss gives them a weird competition to make things seem zany and fun" shows either. I did (sort of) enjoy the segments where they just talked about geek culture stuff, but Smith isn't nearly as good when he's working clean which he seemed to here. They also seemed to edit them laughing at something else to make what they were talking about seem funnier than it actually was. (or at least that's what it appeared to be)
The guys were likable enough though and there were some interesting things. I don't know. Jury's still out for me. Then again I don't read comics or collect so there is that. -
I took them all on my Ill/Time. If I had had had to skip one probably time stop or temporal selection.
But I didn't and I wouldn't. -

The dolls were creepy....very creepy.
This show had some hits and misses. I think the second hour was a bit stronger than the first. I think the whole "Its a documentary and you are watching the footage" angle has been played to death and the shaky cam definitely got annoying. (And I'm usually pretty tolerant of them) The thing that really got me and you see this on a lot of shows that are supposed to be "documentaries" or taken from footage or have a camera crew following them around as part of the plot is the acting was pretty bad. For some reason you take a professional actor and tell them they are being shot like it was really happening and they overact. It's almost like they go from film acting to stage acting or something. The son and the mother especially.
But yeah, chock full of tropes. It was tropiciously delicious. But the run is short enough I'll probably stick with it. Didn't hate it, didn't love it. Will give it a little more time. -
Heh, nah you are alright, Lewis. At one time I was on a pretty fast pace and probably could have had that many if I stuck with it but that has slowed down a lot over the last year and a half. Most of my crew have been around since the beginning and we've dwindled our playtime down to probably a quarter what it used to be and I'm not doing as much "off time" playing as I used to. Plus with Incarnate stuff, there is something else to do besides turn right around and roll more alts unless new sets come out (darkness woot!) etc.

Oh no not 30 controllers, that was close to 30 50s overall and a good number of them are controllers. (I worded the OP terribly) I believe its like 10 controllers.

Good to hear there is a fix in the works. I previewed it in the costume creator with one of my existing toons. Whew! Those are some man feet!

Looks very fun. Hate I missed the last run. My huntsman or fort would have loved this.
-
And just another point for clarity. It's not a squishiness issue or even an effectiveness issue; for whatever reason I've never found the character "fun" so I'm looking for other perspectives on the combo to see if it helps.

As most of you know I'm an unapologetic control(ler) freak so of course it's the AT that is represented most in my 50s. I have my stable of 50s close to the 30 mark now and for the most part I'm pretty equal with the love I give to them. Though many are now +3, there are still plenty more to go, but I do intend to have all of my 50s incarnated in some capacity. I'll at least pull them out every once in a while for a TF, missions, trials etc. Need or want a particular AT, powerset, or combo? Just let me know and I'll grab it. Bottom line: I never mothball a character. While I admit to having some favorites, I really do love them all. Except one: my Plank/Kin controller. The poor thing has sat virtually untouched and neglected for quite a long time since she hit 50. I hate the combo and that makes no sense to me. I have a plant/fire/fire dom and a fire/kin/fire controller both of which I absolutely adore and love playing any chance I get. Marry the two together and it produces something that for whatever rhyme or reason I hate.
So I'm issuing this challenge to you, the control forum regulars. Let me see that build that will make me fall in love with this combo again. Only a few requirements or notes on the build.
1. I do team almost exclusively and rarely solo so please include buffs/team oriented powers. This will be intended to run iTrials, TFs, content, etc. Exemping down isn't really that huge of a priority.
2. No PvP IOs or Purple damage IOs. I am a marketeer and have plenty of Inf, but I'm also an altoholic and this character isn't high enough priority to warrant that kind of inf. Purple control and other rare-ish sets are OK though.
Other than that have at it. And yes that even means all playstyle and build philosophies are ok. Even though I'm vocal on the soft capping v. recharge/recovery debate I'm willing to consider all options equally. Use any APP/Patron/Pools/etc you want. Maybe I just need to look at this character from another angle, because on paper I should love it and it doesn't deserve to sit there all dusty and alone.
It's in your hands. Have at it. Make me love again!
(Oh and please don't post just the data chunks, some of us look at this stuff at work and may not have access to Mids.) -

Won't do it. I'd transfer and mothball them, but I won't delete.

We left the lights on for you!
Now if you don't mind, we could use a couple of bucks to pay the bill. -

My Dark/Dark blaster that's sitting bored (and relatively unplayed) in Preatoria will likely be rerolled into a Dark/Dark controller. My Illusion stage magicians will welcome another member to the troupe with an Illusion/Dark.

Quote:I think the concept of main means different things to different people. Some only (or mainly) play their main. Personally (being a major altoholic) all it really means for me is the character that will be getting the new badges and shinies first. It's also my first 50, my forum name and in-game nickname (Mental) that my friends call me. But it's not necessarily my favorite power combo or most powerful or most regularly played. Just simply my 'main'.People still have a "main"?
Why?
Any character I don't fall in love with is deleted, and any powerset I dislike is rerolled to something I like better. It's not any big deal, though occasionally annoying to re-do the same content for badges. It's just what you do as a part of normal CoX gameplay.... isn't it?
Do your other characters resent the "Main"? Are people aware that they are are going to make their less loved characters undergo years of therapy to undo this kind of damage? If you can't love them all, don't have them! It's cruel!
And does everyone rank their characters in terms of good, better, "Main"? Or "Lieutenant-General Main" or "Vice Main" or "First Runner-Up Main" (in case the "Main" cannot perform his/her duties)?
Whole concept befuddles me. -
The sad thing is I haven't seen the other "Maiden" since probably 2005, but because they were 50 the name was never scrubbed from the server during the name purge so I've just had to resign that the error stays, which is fine after this long.
-
She was about the 2nd or 3rd character I made the first night I'd bought the game way back Aug 2004. A few days later when she was like level 8 I'd noticed that I'd spelled Maiden wrong. The idea of rerolling and redoing all 8 levels just seemed crazy (after all that "hard" work) and at the time there wasn't a name change option. So I just kept it that way because at the time I was just getting used to the game and wasn't sure if I'd even keep the character and low and behold it ended up my main and namesake.
When they did finally make name change an option (after she'd hit 50) there was a Mental Maiden on the server, so I couldn't change it now anyway. And after time it just stuck, became my in-game name and forum name. A stupid spelling error; that's all. -
I have Mental Maden FF/Psi defender and Mental Maden2 Mind/Sonic controller. It wasn't a reroll in the sense the 2nd one is now my main or that character improved. They both exist and the original is still my blueside main.

New trailer that aired tonight.
All I can say is April 1st can't get here fast enough.
Oh yeah and Squee!
