Instead of trying to recall one way or another, just go here.

"Inventions - purchaseable." ... which, being a purchase, would bump them to premium.

"Sensible piece of information?" I believe the word you were looking for is "Useless," actually.

Seriously. The "Top 100 Supergroup" list? What about having X amount of Prestige makes it a "Top" supergroup? It tells me nothing. The SG registrar interface needs an overhault - someone looking for a SG should have:
    - SG name
    - SG interests (PVP focused, RP friendly, raids regularly, maybe creation/last active date(s) )
    - MAYBE SG membership levels
    - Recruiting or not (yes, no, after probation, etc.)
    - SG description, like we have now
    - A way to contact the leadership of that SG.

Those are the sorts of things that would be useful to know. Not "Has X Prestige they've gotten in some fashion, we don't know how, when or why."

Similarly, as argued previously - "Joe Blaster has created 89374265 Prestige" tells me nothing of any use. It doesn't mean they're a good player, it doesn't mean they lead teams, it doesn't mean they're helpful or knowledgeable in the least - they could have just been sitting at the door on farms and can't find their way out of Atlas Park.

That, I have to disagree with.

"Why isn't Raddity Andy using their debuffs?" *checks power list* "... oh. A Rad/Rad 'healor' that didn't bother telling anyone." (And yes, of all the powersets that's just painful to see that on, I have run across that.)
  3. Why wouldn't they be able to - for either question? The devs have been pretty blunt about what they can't do - while it feels like they ignore PVP, if the free/premium players couldn't, I'd imagine it would have been mentioned by now.

Remember, they're wanting people back and spending money.
  4. How about no?

Specifically because the menus can already get long enough without adding even MORE to a few characters.

I dont like to enter in a origin store, I lose gameplay time.
So what? I far prefer single-origin stores to ubervendors like the Elite Quartermaster that show every origin. And if you're that worried about "losing gameplay time" by upgrading enhancements, go to common IOs and don't worry about it.
    Quote:
And I think merit vendors are unnecesary, and UGLY as hell. I hate the purple and bright yellow random generated costume.
Ugly, sure, but that's reason to *redo* costumes, not get rid of the NPC.

Again, special purpose NPC that *already* has a long menu of their own - it's good to keep them separated (and often near the auction house...) just to keep menus manageable.
  5. Hmmm. Old version, I suppose - still have the bars on the side (Need to fix that. Not quite sure just how.) Trimmed so it wouldn't look "spaghetti-western-ish."

Have to make sure it works on freem, as well.

    Ghost Story

Didn't he indicate he's roughly in the middle of it?

That said, while there were a few too many "HEY, CLUE HERE!" moments for my liking, it didn't stop me from devouring the book in a night.
  8. Well, given the Dwarf forms "lived on a Neutron star" (itself ... yeah....) I'd say there might be a certain minimum mass needed. *shrug* But it's all comic book physics. They could manage to do it by turning into a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for all we know.
  9. Yeah, given what we've gotten from Hubble, I'm *really* hoping Webb gets up there and gives us as much of a leap.

Eh. It changes a few of them. I would rather have the "Plain rough robes and glowie eyes in the middle of a void" for many of the lower levels, yeah - but it doesn't really "change the feel of the group" too much to me.

After all, they've been discovered and re-hidden. They've re-emerged. They've had their homes invaded by aliens. And they've found the Mu are still alive and hunting them. Plain old robes may just not cut it any more - given the thorn theme, I get a feeling of "more armor, back to war" from them.

And LOL at the "They should run the changes by us!"

To this end, I had considered tracking multiple SGs to not be worth the effort because if people are flitting between SGs, then the Prestige accumulation was something they were willing to do without, whereas for someone that is sticking with a specific SG, then accumulating Prestige is somewhat like accumulating badges (i.e., a fun shiny).

    -Johnny
    ... you assume.

On the other hand, the majority of my characters stick with one SG (they may try 2-3 to begin with, but once they find a "home," it takes quite a bit to get them to want to leave.) And I don't care about prestige in the slightest - TBH, I care more about badges, specifically because they open things up for the SG (which is the only reason I'll go after them.)

I will say there's one way I wouldn't argue with a total being "kept." And that's specifically in a case like yours (and closer to your above description, it sounds like) where you were kicked for inactivity. AS LONG AS you don't join another SG, if you rejoin, the total comes back. If you get kicked or leave and found a new SG, or join a new one, the total's reset to 0.

I'm STILL of the opinion it's better to just hide the total all together, both personal and SG, as it's a false measurement of worth.

And have been for a while. And have been using them - I do believe at least one mission was using an ion engine.

That said, short term - yes, SpaceX and others in private enterprise will do the lifting. Which is probably a good idea - competition should make that cheaper, and NASA can concentrate on the science and exploration with their limited budget. (Seriously. Americans spend more at Starbucks each year than NASA gets in their entire budget, as I recall.)

According to some rumors the discovery of this tech was the reason we went to Iraq. Conspiracy theorists point to the raiding of the Baghdad Museum as well as the secrecy behind the uncovering of the tomb of Gilgamesh as reasons for their insinuations.
    And these people are idiots.

Eh, didn't look like that many. It's a different look, yes, and I agree they should mix some of the old (robed minions, for instance) with the new - but they're not awful.

Plus, you can finally see that the women whose bodies they steal don't undergo massive changes to join the old all-male cast of the COT.

Here's the thing to remember -

*Every* antivirus program will let something on at some point. There is *no* foolproof way (other than not being on any sort of network internet and not installing anything that hasn't been examined before it comes to the system, while disabling CD and USB drive access) to "never be infected."

Thing with Mcafee, Norton, etc. - the virus writers have them too. And test against them. And frequently have ways around them or ways to disable them.

Also, much of the "popular" malware these days - which you'll typically see as a fake antivirus/fake "window security" type window telling you you have a ton of viruses, etc. and that you have to send them your credit card # to be able to remove them... sometimes while hiding files, deleting shortcuts, and/or killing your network access - gets on by social engineering more than finding a mechanism to force itself onto your system. Hijacked ads, harvested email being used to send out offers and "warnings" and more - just to get you to click, helping get around your AV - are where a fair number of these come from.

Yeah. Don't have to go spelunking in the dark and questionable corners of the 'net any more. Though that's not any safer.

(FWIW, I haven't had a virus in years - can't think of the last one I had, though I had one try to sneak on about a year ago - but I'm exceptionally picky about what gets on my machines. At work though, I remove several daily. They can be real PITAs.)
  17. Er -

Prices on the board are a no-no, per the rednames. Just so you know.

May just want to link to DA and mention "PM me for other details."

Entertainingly, though they're not in commission and are being converted into museum ships now, they're still being kept on the books in some nebulous bureaucratic state of readiness-for-readiness, just in case we should suddenly happen to need a decisive advantage in a re-enactment of the Battle of Jutland. Or be invaded by aliens, I suppose, as we see here.
They tend to be very useful still in some instances. Those shells cause *quite* a bit of damage when they land, after all, and are a tad harder to shoot down or otherwise disrupt than, say, a cruise missile (which, IIRC, they had also been updated to launch.)

They're essentially amphibious assault support. Very heavy support. (I believe the Wisconsin is one of the ones kept in or near readiness. Or was. Rather surprisingly, given historical significance, they pulled Missouri out for use during the first Gulf war.)

And the rest works for me,a s well - after all, in a way it does relate to what we know of Nictus, fragments, Voids/Galaxies and the like as well (remember, there's mention of them going to "Full conversion" to Nictus.) So you could, in theory, get *many* nictus from one that way.

Whether a non-Nictus Kheldian would let that happen or go through that process, I don't know. It *sounds* like basic drives (take over the body, back to the stars) remain intact. No idea about personality - I'd assume not, personally.
  20. Well, installed, only had time for two quick missions (first two re: benjamin decker) but no crashes. Need to see if ti solves the problem in C&C that had me try 11.6 to begin with, but that's not a coh matter.
  21. After seeing this thread...

We have (or had) COH Splasher, which IIRC has issues with Vista and above (and/or UAC.) Why not give us the ability "officially" to change the login screen? One of the selling points of the game's its customization, after all. Extend it to "And have YOUR character facing you right from the start - you're even the star of the login screen!" (Or artwork, or whatever else you have that you want to use.)
  22. Not overly worried about it. *shrug*

No hate. The OP just assigns more value to prestige than it actually has (which is, basically, none.) And it has nothing at all to do with my SG experiences, which - except for one instance months after COV launch which had nothing to do with prestige - have been universally positive.

    Don't assume.
  24. Been asked for before. I don't know if it's technically difficult or they've just never instituted a procedure to do so - it does, I suppose, affect more than a character name change - but if it's not "do this and it'll break everything/lose everything in the base/etc" level difficult or problematic, I'd love to see it as well.
