Quote:About the only hangup right now that I'm aware of is that you have to go to a trainer to swap builds. Otherwise, yeah, /cc #$$change_build # would be viable.Well for what it's worth I wouldn't mind the ability to link a specific build to a specific costume slot. It might be cool for example to create a "PvP costume" and then when I switch to it I would automatically switch to my "PvP build" as well. Getting a feature like that is probably far more likely than getting 10 builds on one character at any rate.

I'd suggest that you're living in a dream world if you think it'd actually consolidate the farming threads, to be blunt.
And personally I'd hate to see the forum-storm when the next exploit gets smacked down if such a subsection existed.
(Personally, I don't care if it did exist - I wouldn't bother with it, any more than I bother with the market section.) -
I'm a huge proponent of dual builds, and somewhat of triple builds. (See guides.) That said, I can't see ten builds being realistic in the slightest. If the Incarnate powers couldn't be unslotted and were build-specific, then I could, sure - but they're individually unslottable and swappable.
Heck, looking at the - frankly silly - "list," I have two words for you to pile all that into one or two builds - "Temp powers." Medicine pool? I'd assume to heal other, especially on a dark (has an attack that heals)/regen (ton of heals.) There's a temp power and/or day job - no need to even look at the Medicine pool. You CERTAINLY don't need it for yourself. Presence is... well, flat out silly. (Touch of Fear.) And so forth.
I can see *maybe* fitting one more build in. From the comments I get about my dual (and triple) builds guide, though, people are finding it hard to use *three* builds. Two builds (outside of "test respecs," basically) aren't used that much - if I said 30% of the game uses them, I'd probably be guessing way too high. Three builds seems really, really rare. (If PVP were more active, I'd probably use it on buffers - solo, team, PVP.) Four... I can't even think of what I'd do with. -
Pinnacle's roughly as dead as I am, and I'm not typing from beyond the grave. It's one of the two main servers I play on (the other being Victory.)

Worthless in the post-20 game?
Hit a Fake Nemesis with it, or some of the AVs, and come back and say that. Shuts bubbles right off. (Sleep - stack confuse - no worries.) It's a big hole for some enemies/sets. -
Quote:So you're going to start unposting?P.S. I know I've suggested this before, and it keeps getting pushed off the list. So I will keep posting this until it gets done.
It's been in the game for a while now. Plus comments like that don't tend to do anything but annoy people.
(This shot, for instance, was taken some time after it had been introduced - and it was dated 10/15/2010.) -
The question isn't one of movement speed (we can teleport, after all, in Dwarf) but in -recharge. Getting slowed when you only have 3 attacks to begin with is murder.

Quote:I don't think a "Ground up" revamp is needed, or would be welcome anywhere (dev or player side.)Perhaps PB and WS need to be brought back to the drawing board and rebuilt from the ground up? Keep the forms but make sure that all forms have their appropriate strengths and advantages to each other, and perhaps even let Khelds get a few more enhancement slots for the powers.
I do think there's going to need to be a fair bit of work regardless, and there'll be a lot of back and forth between PBs and WS - and I don't want to see either side *nerfed* as a result. Peacebringers should still have, for instance, the "reliable" buffs versus the Warshade "roller coaster."
I will, to be blunt, be wary of this version of the powers team. I find it amusing that since the AOE buffs, I've heard (fairly frequently) that buffing is at times even more frustrating than it was before, for instance. And just looking at the comments on humanform *now* making Dwarf fairly pointless - well, "Castle was right," it seems fair to say, when it comes to humanform mez protection (given perma-able lf.) He didn't want to give it to humanform in order to keep Dwarf from being obsoleted. *looks up a few posts.* Yeah...
I'm half wondering if they're having to re-learn lessons or something. There are things I appreciate - I'm not just here to tear them down or anything. But it just doesn't feel like solid footing with them yet. -
Quote:I'm looking devside too for this, though. We don't *know* who's actually working on this - and who has worked on it (Castle was looking at one point, correct? Who else?) and we don't know how many *internal* design directions they're going with things, internal concerns and the like. Or how much actual experience the people there have with khelds and in what situation - are they looking at "We need to buff the solo/small team experience," "we need human changes regardless of form," etc.Maybe, but if we just shut up about it then we do ourselves a disservice in making sure they know how we feel. Squeaky wheel gets the grease after all...though I will admit at this point im just trying to keep it bumped on the off chance the devs decide to reply. Not much else that really needs saying on the players part.
I'd kind of like to hear just what they're looking at/thinking/rationales. (Because I don't, frankly, believe the AOE KB = "a needed power brake" nonsense.) -
Quote:Character name - yes. With nearly 300 characters... heck yes. (Not counting the deletions.) I don't think I could even tell you who, or what they were any longer.Up for discussion: Have you ever changed a character name? Your global name? Your forum name? Any other names (besides from marriage)? What lead to the decision, and did you like the result?
Also, do you have difficulty getting people to pronounce your name(s) correctly? If so, how do you react?
Global name - no. (Other than changing back after global server hiccups.)
Forum name - nope.
About the only name-related amusement I get is joining friends on RO teams (or even non-RO.) I'll get called by so many different names at one time I've had people get... rather confused as to who people were talking to. -
Quote:Skimming and wondering why I'm bothering posting in here again, but -Any particular reason why you single out White Dwarf as opposed to both Dwarf forms? Granted, I assume it's because Peacebringers need more of a buff than Warshades but it could be argued that forms on both ATs could stand to benefit from form specific buffs. One suggestion I would make for White Dwarf specifically is a passive 20% recharge debuff resistance since White Dwarf has fewer damaging moves than Black Dwarf. I was originally going to suggest this for Incandescence and Absorption but it seems the forms could stand more than human form. Since neither passive seems to be active during the forms, it could potentially be perfectly fine to give the recharge debuff resistance to Incandescence, Absorption, and White Dwarf.
It's perfectly fair to concentrate on White Dwarf here, and not just because it's about PB changes. There's more interplay or interaction between Dark dwarf and WS Humanform just on the basis of the mires. The mire (aside from being another viable attack in dwarf form) keeps Dwarf relevant to a Warshade.
For a current-live PB, Dwarf gives mez protection and exceptionally high resists. But you're limited to three attacks (if you want to count a procced Taunt as four, be my guest. I won't.) That's... it. MAYBE another (reliable) heal. But with the changes going through... that doesn't "sell" White Dwarf enough. (This vs WS, with three single target attacks and an AOE that's also a self buff. More offensive potential, plus resist, mez protection, etc.)
White Dwarf now goes from "Mez protection and toughness" to ... well, a negative, "Cost in slots." I can, if I want another heal (what's left to WD) snag Aid Self and - even slotting for interrupt reduction - still burn far fewer slots.
At this point, though... *shrug* Doesn't matter. I think we've hit critical mass of cooks vs stew, and the whole thing's starting to look like a mess. -

Well, similar in population would be Virtue. (Virtue, frankly, tends to have a higher load at times.) Infinity typically is considered "third," but that spot swaps around a fair bit.
Personally, I tend to play most heavily on Victory and Pinnacle, and don't tend to have issues finding teams.
What I'd suggest, though, is to pop down to the server forums and find a group that's recruiting somewhere that sounds interesting and matches your play schedule and join them.
Also, do a quick search (since I don't have the info) on the Mentor project - it's set up for people to help new/returning players get started and get help. -
Quote:Except that those can be added via "Add personal items." Would YOU want to have everyone in your SG able to change the name? The same can be said about the vet rewards that give players access to
Wall Posters
Display Cases
Arachnos/Longbow Flyers
Which are solely for base decorations.
Don't get me wrong tho I agree that it's a lousy vet reward, just pointing out that there's precedence. -

Possible, yes. People did it before we had Dual Pistols corruptors, and I *believe* a few people do it for whips.
Worth it is up to you. You'll get complaints from teams because - well, you don't have many attacks, you won't have your pets, your support's not as good as a corruptor and you'll probably win an award for being "most dead." But if you're having fun trying it, well, then it's worth it to you.
If you want to try it out, do it as a dual build. Play with the petless side while solo, and use the pets build for teaming. -

(OK, that'd be a pain to type out.) -
Quote:... which you can only pay for once, versus character name changes, which you do have to pay for.Pay for it? Why? It's nothing more complicated than a global name change.
Quote:I'd say you get one change every 2 years or so. Make it another vet reward.
(a) that'd be a lousy vet reward ("Yay, a SG name change... wait, I don't run any SGs, that's useless,") and
(b) vet rewards are going away, as you well know from your followon comment.
That said, yeah, I'd go for this. The only real problem I can think of for it - paid, especially - is making sure the person's not about to waste money on something they can't change. $10 just to see "You are not authorized to make this change - only the superleader can change the name" wouldn't go over well. -
Nice. Got me looking through mine - I (surprisingly) don't have a lot of purely robotic (or mostly cybernetic) characters. Total of 4 still around. And two of them have been around since nearly COV launch. (I really need to level them more.)
HEaRT-Breaker:
Third's an attempt to "Try to look more human and blend in" that didn't... quite work. (Yes, the capitalization's intentional - actually didn't have to open this up for these shots, stands for something like HEat and Radiation/Tactical - project Breaker." Given a female shape "probably from the lab techs spending too much time in the lab. Used the extra room in the chest for another fuel cell."
Project VISTA:
The mastermind that nearly put me off masterminds (Bots/FF.) Haven't really done many costumes with him, this one was "Spare parts made to work together" - and yeah, it was a poke at Windows Vista. (I know, I know.)
3. Family Joules:
... just because I could get the name, it's a cheap pun, and I'm amused by it. Slightly newer. Made for Elec/Elec. (Brute.)
4. Miss Mys-Tech:
Keep going back to this outfit, just works for her. (And I'm never all that happy with anything else I come up with. -

Quote:I still fully support the suggestion that, yes, trials more than 90 (or if we want to be generous 180) days old, before Freedom launches, have names marked as available. They don't *lose* the names if they come back, and they're all marked as @[TRIAL] accounts. But if someone wants to use one of the names there... why should a 4 year old *TRIAL* account have a name? If someone didn't convert over, it's REALLY doubtful they'll come back or remember that account *now.*The problem with that idea is that they're just retiring the creation of NEW trial accounts. With the free/premium/VIP setup coming in Freedom, there's nothing to stop one of those trial players coming back, firing up that old trial account and starting one of those characters up again.
Would deleting them wholesale because they're 'just a trial' be equitable?
Possibly more importantly, I can't see Paragon Studios shutting off a potential revenue stream when they're heading for a free/hybrid pay model. -
Quote:That's because the whole story isn't there. You have to piece what there is together from that and the bits in the Midnighter club. That's not a history, that's a fragment. It doesn't tell where the Shard came from, where the "People of Paragon" who live there came from, or what the whole story encapsulated in those Shard TF poems means.
You'll find that... not infrequently.
