Robots! (and more)

Spinning off Henri's comment in the Alt Alphabet thread, here's a starter set of my cybernetic centurions and mechanical monstrosities. Lots more where these came from.

Long since deleted from Virtue (or maybe Freedom), but I wish I'd kept her because the name is great.

Also deleted fairly recently, this was a goof I made way back in '04. As with most of my acronymic names, I backed into it starting with the name. "Annie McAnnie" was pretty challenging.

An older screenshot of my only L50 villain. (I should update these.) Technically a cyborg -- more than most, as he's a human brain in a robotic body.

Future Shock in one of my all-time favorite screenshots.

The newest robot on the block, I just made him this weekend. Based on the superbly superlative comic book character, Atomic Robo. I wish we had a plain chest piece to use, but oh well.

Another favorite of mine. I challenged myself to make a catgirl that I didn't dislike. It's not that I hate catgirls, it's just that they're *everywhere* nowadays. Similar to Future Shock, except it's a cat brain in a robot body. Catborg!

Another cyborg. I really like the fact that despite its complexity, his costume comes across as simple.

One of my original robots, made during the headstart, I believe. He was the second character I made on Virtue. When the time comes that we get ray guns and can respec powersets, I'll switch him from being a Defender to a blaster-totin'... um, Blaster.

Battlecry: That's the pompatus of love!

Robotomic is an awesome name. Nice homage to an interesting comic character.

They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!

Nice. Got me looking through mine - I (surprisingly) don't have a lot of purely robotic (or mostly cybernetic) characters. Total of 4 still around. And two of them have been around since nearly COV launch. (I really need to level them more.)

HEaRT-Breaker:

Third's an attempt to "Try to look more human and blend in" that didn't... quite work. (Yes, the capitalization's intentional - actually didn't have to open this up for these shots, stands for something like HEat and Radiation/Tactical - project Breaker." Given a female shape "probably from the lab techs spending too much time in the lab. Used the extra room in the chest for another fuel cell."

Project VISTA:

The mastermind that nearly put me off masterminds (Bots/FF.) Haven't really done many costumes with him, this one was "Spare parts made to work together" - and yeah, it was a poke at Windows Vista. (I know, I know.)

3. Family Joules:

... just because I could get the name, it's a cheap pun, and I'm amused by it. Slightly newer. Made for Elec/Elec. (Brute.)

4. Miss Mys-Tech:

Keep going back to this outfit, just works for her. (And I'm never all that happy with anything else I come up with.

Ahh, a robot thread... what could be better

I'm sure a lot of you have already seen my robot characters, but today's your lucky day, now you get to see them all together

First up is my main, Robot H3NRi, spines/regen scrapper. (incidently, i look forward in anticipation to see what the boost to /regen will involve.)

Next we have Robostein, Bots/FF MM. When i translated Robostein's AT into my comic I portrayed him as the leader of a squad of robot commando's, so his other costume slots are his team...

left to right: Bosch, Robostein, Goldenbolt and Robot Joe.

The 5th slot i used for Robosteins' arch nemesis, General Kale.

Next up is my homage to a certain star spangled hero, the Iron Captain. MA/SD scrapper of course

That's all for now, i'll post some others later. cheers H.

Here's one from my collection.

Her name's Vicki Ingram, formerly a Home Companion Clockwork, upgraded and augmented by her father, Doctor Sydney Ingram into a bodyguard capable of learning on her own. However, the good Doctor was taken from her by Praetor Berry for 'working with the Resistance', leaving her to fend for herself. Armed with a pair of high-powered pistols and a variety of devices, she fights the Praetors and the Villains of Primal Earth.

"It's hard for you to be yourself, if you don't know who you really are."

Vicki looks great imo

Oklo (Spine/Fire Scrapper) typically is a humanoid dinosaur. But I did make a robotic version of him.

Heavy Mettle (Dark/Electric Brute) is a Rock 'n' Roll loving robot. The costumes are meant to emulate Judas Priest, Guns N' Roses, any hair band (maybe Poison), Kiss and Iron Maiden (Eddie from Somewhere In Time's cover)

Junk Shot (Electric/Energy Dominator) is inspired by BP's failed attempt to fire junk down the damaged well in the Gulf. These are older pics, he's added the steampunk backpack to his costume.

My main and namesake: Demobot!

He was a part of Crey Industries attempts to reverse-engineer Malta's Titan technology. Like Malta's Titans, he has a human brain, culled from one of the Rikti War's innumerable casualties. Armed with powerful concussive energy emitters, he was nicknamed 'Demobot' after he blasted a sizable hole through the reinforced steel wall of the firing range during his first weapons test. Crey scientists attempted to use brainwashing techniques to create a fully loyal cyborg killing machine but gave their creation multiple personalities. The original personality, completely bereft of his memories but no less horrified at what Crey had done to him, eventually asserted control over his cybernetic body and blasted his way out of Crey's clutches. With nothing of his previous life he was left with only one goal: take down Crey Industries, whatever the cost.

I have some roboty toons but alas I'm stuck at work on a comp with a horrible gpu. I'll try to remember to post up some images tonight when I get home.

These are all great toons btw.

A repost!

Anti-Quark, my Time/Rad Defender! An experimental clockwork designed by Anti-Matter, with an integrated Dimensional Breach Device and Tachyon Manipulation Array, originally designed to be used as a relay/spy in Primal Earth Orbit.

Which worked great until he got smacked out of the sky by a Meteor.

Now he's rebuilding his programming from scratch, and fighting against the same forces that created him.

Eraser unit. Emperor Coles left hand looking for humanity.
Her clockwork brains are so confused.

What program you suggest for drawing? I have Gimp and tried OpenCanvas but it's 30 days demo So it must be free with some good drawing tools.

I use Gimp for all my digital artwork and screenshot manipulation, can't recommend it enough as a free and very competent program

Meanwhile, I don't have any normal robot characters, but Silverwing Sentinel the ancient Oranbegan construct is as close to a robot as something that runs on magic can be - she's all clockwork and mechanical parts, the magic is just a power source:

She was built to protect Oranbega, and "Oranbega" was defined in her programming mostly by the city's location. Today, Paragon City fits her definition (and old Oranbega doesn't - when she was built, Oranbega was ABOVE the ground), and she continues to use the name for the city that used to be for the city that is.

Well, he's not wearing anything. But he's also clearly not anatomically correct, so no biggie.

Still doesn't make it any less stick-in-the-mind creepy. It'd actually be LESS creepy if he weren't wearing the shirt - the shirt only draws attention to it.
