They had it like that in beta. I believe they were concerned about market effects... which your own post kind of points to. *cough*
That said, rolling for them usually nets a ton of saleable salvage (and quite a few Silvers.) They're not rare in the results.
Save them, sell what you don't need, use the proceeds to buy more.
As far as pricing on the market? Blame your fellow players. Fortunately there are two alternatives - playing in range for the salvage and, as mentioned in your own post, AE. -
You forgot the "Arise, ARIIIIISE from the grave, your master commands you" speech.

Quote:Not commenting on anyone else's choices here, because, well, personal preference - but I have to on this one.tainty that Masterminds are my MOST... HATED... AT... EVER. I can't stand to play them, they're so boring! "Press Attack my Target. Read Webpage for 5 minutes"
You have the *exact* same view of MMs I had when dealing with my Bots/FF mastermind. I could not *stand* the AT thanks to that one character. Like your description, it didn't even feel like I needed to be there after the summon/buff. It put me off even trying to level the others.
I got a more active powerset combo (Thugs/Poison) and it was a complete turnaround. Healing, buffing, debuffing, it kept me actually involved and that character became one of my all time favourites.
If you've only tried one combination - try some others. Take a good look at the secondaries and find one that's more active (or do what I did and ask in the MM forums.) Avoid Force Field, Thermal and Pain (to a lesser extent on the last two, as they *can* keep you active, but it's fairly reactive.) -
Hmmmmm....
My Mind/Fire dom. Just an unholy terror... starting at level 3 when I first cranked the difficulty up.
Thugs/Poison MM - Took me from "I cannot stand MMs" to "Hey, I just accidentally soloed an AV."
My Peacebringers. My first one, a triform, and my later 50 (and second roll for her, first version's still on Virtue) Human-only. Quite different play styles, still a blast (and a punch, and a slam, and...)
Plant/Thorn Dom. It was fun getting two levels soloing Scrapyard's followers... -
Top of the not-like list:
POWERSETS:
Illusion Control. If I'm playing a controller, I want decent control. Not an AOE fear that stuff runs out of if you sneeze. Not pets that pretty much demand you build for recharge-recharge-recharge. Not one of the worst AOE holds of any controller. And not two bloody invisibilities. The only way I can come CLOSE to dealing with it is by pairing it with trick arrow to make up for some of what it misses. I love playing controllers - I *despise* Illusion.
Dual Blades - while not the same level of dislike, well - I like the combo mechanic in theory, but don't like how it was executed (not to mention if it breaks, you essentially have no secondary effect, just flat out lethal damage.) IMHO they got it "more right" in Street Justice.
POWERSET COMBOS:
Bots/FF. Nearly put me off Masterminds for good - makes me feel like I'm just around to watch after buffing.
ATs:
Widows. Just a royal pain. Forts, as well, quite frankly. I just don't find them enjoyable - and they don't really seem to have a middle-ground "huntsman" like the Soldiers do.
Banes. If I'm supposed to be stealthy-mostly-melee (especially to get crits,) give me either the Widow smoke grenade to drop perception or give me stalker level stealth. Too squishy, and again, not fun.
VEATs in general: Mostly for the "Get to 24 and you MUST respec NOW!" - like dual blades, interesting mechanic, craptastic execution. Should have been done at, oh, 10-14 or so, not 24. Feels like you waste half your levels before you can start playing what you wanted to in the first place. Bonus points for *wasting my time* if I'm going Huntsman. -

Quote:May do that. I'd like to get through the other first, as I mentioned, just to get a grasp of where it "fits" the history, though (and longer-view of what led up to it, etc.)I've actually got a suggestion for you: God's Chinese Son, by Johnathan D. Spence. Smaller subsection of Chinese History - called the Tai-Ping Rebellion. Of course, it would more accurately be called a revolution...
Quote:Reading a lot of smaller stuff along it. Read Tolkien's The Children of Hurin with my dad recently, which is a great glimpse (and more readable) into Tolkien's Silmarillion stories.
Quote:Just finished Mort, by Terry Pratchett, which was pretty fun. Death is an interesting character to follow in those books.
Death gets to be a bit of a badass in his own way, too, in Hogfather. (He's amusing through a good chunk of it - then you see him take care of business.) -
Hmmm. 14 might not quite be accurate, given there's a bit of jockeying in VEAT-land.
1. Dominator
2. Controller (except illusion)
3. Corruptor
4. Peacebringer.
5. Tank
6. Brute
7. Defender (really this shuffles around higher depending on how supportive I feel)
8. Mastermind
9. Warshade
10. Blaster
11. Stalker
12. Huntsman-build Soldier
13. Crab - build Soldier
14. Scrapper
15. Bane
16. Widow/Fort
Special mention at 17 - Illusion controllers.
... though that middle chunk (7-13) tends to shuffle around a fair bit, sometimes getting higher than 7 (loved my Thugs/Poison, for instance, and couldn't get enough of her while leveling.) -
Asked for before, still would like to see.

Quote:Two As very visible in this post:ok...Ok...OK!
You each love your little shires of solitude...i friggin' get it. Cripes...not wonder it's hard to find descent team players.
I loved, and still love, my first server, Infinity. I have some AWESOME toons that I put a lot of work into. I made several good friends and many great (virtual) memories there. I just despair over the fact it is a shadow of its former self and miss the many opportunities to make new friends that only a well-populated server can bring. Forgive me for trying to think of ways to revitalize it.
So please stop whinging on about the technical challenges or the virtues of you "cold dead fingers". I'll continue to make friends, help noobs, and foster a community...you have fun sitting in the corner.
Attitude - which is not helping you in the least, and
Assumption - partly related to the first one.
Nobody's "Sitting in the corner" just because we're not on Freedumb.
Nobody is lacking in "opportunities to make new friends" - I meet new people on a regular basis as I server hop. Though with the attitude you show here (and your willful disregard of the points *against* your suggestion,) I think you'll have problems with that. -
Quote:Unfortunately, there's not. I think I know the (praetorian) event he's talking about. There should be a dialog with various instructions, including progress bars for the Praetorian events, showing how many you need to kill/options of stuff to kill.
Versus the Syndicate:
1. Kill X number of syndicate outside the building. THe PPD will show up to help - don't let too many die.
2. Inside, you 'lure out' the boss one of two ways:
- Set bombs (glowies) or
- defeate named bosses.
If you go the second way, it makes the final fight somewhat easier.
3. Once lured out, go to the waypoint and hit the roof. Defeat the boss and X number of minions.
4. Enjoy your new badge/temp power. -
Quote:Since I started in I3. most AV fights end up with *just* the AV standing and most minions dead (short of something like Infernal's portal... and better than 95% of the teams I've been on for that pull him away.)Ooooh interesting how you bring that bit up NOW, and not in your original post. How handy of you.
So, frankly, it's not even something that should need stating. Yes, Dech's guide ends up saying "Leave minions around!" but - again, from my experience with most teams (since, without it... 1-2 minions? Take a red and purple) - they're just not going to do that. -

Actual history, trying to piece together the history of Carthage (as opposed to the "bad name" it was given over time.)
Not deeply into it at this point (more involved with the Insurgents book, as I started it first) but looking forward to spending quite a bit of time with it.
Book on hold: China, a history. Very thick, and not something I'd suggest just dipping a toe into if your'e not slightly familiar with it. Doesn't help that - not being stereotypical here - it seems every third Wu, Hu, and Xi just rotate out to fight each other. Very easy to lose track of who's doing what to Wu - er, who, and why.
Probably going to start over with that and a notepad - and some ancillary book. I never manage to get a grasp on Chinese or Russian history. -
Quote:Have Netflix? They have quite a bit of it available streamed. The biggest void I feel is for not having seen any of the old school (pre-Eccleston) Dr. Who episodes. One of these days I'll track them down...
I'm insanely fond (as opposed to a fan of... hard to explain) the original Doctor. William Hartnell is just... I don't know. Plus seeing what they were trying to do with such limited scenery - "The Azteks" is one of my favourite of their stories.
Pre-Eccelston (and it's so odd to me seeing him in Elizabeth,) the first and fifth doctors are probably my favourites, and I really wish we'd gotten to see more of the eighth. Need to find more of the seventh, though. I think the only bit I've seen is the beginning of the eighth's movie.
All that said... what I haven't seen? I can't really call it shame.
Futurama - ok, I've seen some. But I don't find it interesting or amusing. (Same with the Simpsons, Family Guy, etc. It could all vanish and be replaced with infomercials for toe jam collection kits and I'd call it an improvement.)
Red Dwarf. I think I've caught half of one episode, but have been interested. (It's not in my Netflix queue, either - it's one of those things I have to dedicate a long weekend to, I think.)
Smallville/Lois and Clark. Honestly, the interest just wasn't there.
Same with Lost, honestly. And, going back a ways, Twin Peaks.
Re: Dune (movies)
I won't be happy until they make one that has Paul's mother ask him what it's like to be a murderer after the Sietch duel. Don't ask me why it irks me so badly that that keeps getting left out (then again, I blank out the one with Sting... *shudder*) -
Kind of heavy on the history at the moment:
Carthage Must Be Destroyed, by Richard Weiss
Insurgents, Raiders and Bandits - how masters of irregular warfare have shaped our world - Arquilla.
Recently finished:
Ghost Story - Jim Butcher
Outward Bound (collection) - Heinlein.
Unknown - Rachel Caine -
Illusion ... yeah. I'm not exactly known for being *fond* of that set.
Sonic is usually a good set - the drawback (to me) is how awful it sounds. Still, every attack adds some -res (and it can be pretty hefty,) meaning everyone's doing more damage. You can even see it going up on your own DOTs. It will definitely shorten the time it takes to kill groups.
Ice is... almost unfair.
I'm running a Kin/AR on occasion, but I'm odd like that. I wouldn't actually call it a *recommendation.* -
Quote:30 minutes for 4 people?Having a lot of decent toons on Protector and Infinity and having to spent 30 minutes begging to get 4 other people to team gets a little old.
I primarily stay on lower pop servers. I have to have woken up at 5-6 AM to run into anything close to that. Lower population does not, as you imply, mean "a bunch of soloists."
Nice to see yet another person seeing disagreement as "anger" though. That is, by the way, a copy-paste reply. I also note that you don't bother responding to the upcoming fact of the new, VIP server. -
I'd... rework the thing in general.
What irritates me most about Keyes isn't the continual damage, or pulses, or time stop (I survived all that as a non-bumped Blaster.) It's the disjointedness of the whole thing. It's like we had three separate teams, one working on each reactor "experience," and they didn't bother talking to each other.
Oh, and the blatant "Hey, INVITE A STALKER!" for one of them is just cheesy. (the bunkers.)
I'd work on making it a more coherent experience overall. That (and basically the mass chaos that was going on) was the biggest disappointment for the entire trial. (Heck, I *like* the "Don't kill Anti-matter!" twist.)
Edit: Side note -
Quote:As far as this... my blaster didn't have stealth, and still managed to get in and get the glowies. Actually *stayed* in at one point. Never aggroed.I can see how not having any stealth/invis. would be a pain in some parts (collecting temp powers in 1st and 3rd reactors) but if you know you can't collect temps without getting beaten up by the mobs -
Quote:...ooooooo.... kay.
An interesting way of defining a Natural origin Beam Rifle character is by making them some sort of inter-dimensional traveler or alien. Perhaps wherever they come from everybody has Beam Rifles. -
Quote:Can't really agree with that - but that's just because I'd rather see all zones work the same way (IE, essentially a pre-I13 reversion.) I get wanting *some* powers to work differently (different stealth limits, etc.) but right now there's a heck of a learning curve (more a brick wall) going from PVE into a PVP zone. I'd rather have that curve greatly lessened - yes, you need different tactics, but you shouldn't have to completely relearn what your powers *do* as well. Also, to be honest, i do not want to see toons get the same PvP layer as other PvP zones. Just make it a PvP zone to get the PvP bonuses, but keep the PvE zone type.
I hate that toons get nerfed way diff in a PvP zone compared to a PvE zone, and they should not change it when entering 'Death Valley'.
My Elec/NRG blaster has no issues with endurance in PvE, yet he does in PvP zones, and i hate that nerf. And i know most of you know more of these nerfs to your toons you hate.
But this is just my opinion tho. -
