It does indeed!
And here I am, just heading into PMS territory. WHEE!
GET ME A FRYING PAN. I WANT TO HIT SOMETHING.

New Tanker for Zekiran!
edit: Brute might be better though, more SMASH!
[/ QUOTE ]
Now I want a "Natural" booster pack to include a moomoo, curlers in hair (neither of which I wear in real life lol) and a frying pan option for Mace powers...
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh. Some of my friends pointed me to "mybrute.com" - little flash game thingy (well, name a brute and sit back.) No control over anything, the two that fight just beat on each other...
But one of them had a frying pan. It was amusing. (The mace looks like it, but no, this was really a frying pan.) -

The problem with this is the inability to duplicate certain events and atmosphere, such as the Paladin ambush in the Synapse TF, or climbing the Volcano in Striga only to find a huge door, or circling around Paragon defeating all the various foes you've ever faced. And some stories take more than five missions to tell (though to be fair, when a lot of TFs can be adequately summarized as "fight council cuz i said so, fight freakshow cuz i said so", perhaps this isn't such a huge issue), you'd really have to squeeze or do away with a good deal of content.
It'd be a nice exercise in creativity for sure, but i doubt any MA-made mission would ever be a suitable replacement for a Task Force (even if some of them are awful)
[/ QUOTE ]
/this.
I'm all for "Rewrite the task forces" as a challenge, mind you. It'd be interesting to see what people come up with. But some of the unique flavor of them just can't be done in MA.
I'm hoping, though, with the new tools they have, they can go back and redo them. -

Bwahahahah... I always think I'm the only guy who keeps tabs on the 'special' posters. Or who can hold a grudge for years if not decades, then get even when noone else knows why anymore.
[/ QUOTE ]
You don't need to "keep tabs" on them. They draw attention to themselves.
And yes, horrible idea on a flawed premise. I can, should I so choose, get a full team on any server. I tend to prefer smaller ones. No, it's not from being "known" as most of my characters are NOT "known," and I don't tend to publish my global.
As much as I dislike Freedom, I don't think they should be at any more of a disadvantage than they already are. -

Please provide links to where the devs made promises of a moonbase, mars, Rikti homeworld, and power customization.
[/ QUOTE ]To be honest, I remember Emmert making references to Moon Base and Mars missions, and mentioned power customization, but I wouldn't know where to find stuff from all the back like I-3.
I misspoke with the Rikti Homeworld bit, and will correct it.
Still, you say new content is coming out all the time. I'm not denying that it doesn't. I'm not denying that they put out a LOT of stuff for the game that doesn't involve purchasing a bunch of stuff to update the game.
What I'm saying, is now is their chance to UPDATE the game, fix stuff that has been broken forever. (Positron's Task Force... go ahead and try it with a team of minimum leveled heroes. Call me from ICU and tell me how it went) And maybe even see about coming up with promised fixes and features.
AE is, as the poster above said, as close as you can come to a pause button on the game. They could make all kinds of game and story tweaks, and nobody would notice for awhile.
This is an opportunity they should grab, not let slide by.
[/ QUOTE ]
As mentioned, "Discussed" or "mentioned in passing" isn't "promised," but you've already touched on that.
That said, I don't disagree with you as far as updating older content. They've shown they're willing to do so with zones (see the RCS to RWZ, and Faultline, with a touch of the Hollows - though the content didn't change,) and even remove content (Calvin Scott.)
Our next big shift, with i15, is going to involve the 5th column. They've already "peeked around the curtain," so to speak, with the ITF and Ouroboros. We also know I15 is not "The Coming Storm" - that's still on its way.
Villainside, of course, could *really* use new lower level content. It's more sparse than heroside. AE gives (potentially) an alternative, yes, and that is something I'm glad to see (especially with today's changes and announcement.) The upcoming "opening of the capsule," as well as the Rikti storylines, give other opportunities.
I wouldn't argue with seeing it refreshed a bit. (Honestly... two potential arcs per starting contact, and you only get to see one of them, might be interesting.) -

You can have more Epics when villains get a full set of thematically appropriate choices.

And honestly, along with non-patroned APPs redside, I'd still like to see some "patron" style pools and arcs blueside. -

I was somewhat surprised that there weren't two versions already - on the other hand, when's the last time you came across a breakable tech-style (or any, really) computer in game? Clicking and having it disappear isn't as satisfying. -

Not picking, just finding this image very amusing.
Full jetpack - was it mostly red, some white and blue? If so, that's from the game time card. if it's white/silver-ish with "wings," it's from the lvl 5-10 Mayhem or Safeguard mission. If it's gold and villainside, (which, obviously, as a controller you didn't see,) it's from one of Marshal Brass's missions to steal a jetpack.
Regardless, they all run out - the game time card one at 30 days, the others in 2 hours of use. None of them are crafted items.
Hurdle does not affect hover. Swift does. If you're talking "Superspeed" for speed, it won't affect Hover. Some people *do* slot Swift for fly speed (x3) and add some to Hover, others just go with Fly.
Looking at the build... you've already got three power pools started, all three of which have travel powers in them. >.< What's your concept for the character? As Illusion, at 18 - grab phantom army.
As for crafting - http://www.paragonwiki.com - bookmark that just for general use. Don't worry about set IOs yet. Common IOs? Level 15 common IOs (damage, acc, etc.) are somewhat better than DOs. At 25, they're slightly weaker than even-level SOs, at 30, they're a bit stronger. Unlike regular enhancements, they never expire.
More stuff:
Note that once you hit level 10, you can start a second build (and switch between them every 15 minutes.) You could, for instance, set up a solo build (which I tend to do with Empathy, since solo I don't need Fortitude, Heal Other, etc. - it frees up some power choices) and a group build (with heavier emphasis on Empathy, Group Invis instead of Superior or however you want to go.)
They don't share enhancements, of course.
If you go to the university in Steel Canyon, find the dean - he should be in your contact list, probably under "Active contacts" - and run his mission. You'll go between multiple contacts, all in the same building. Read the info they give, it's a decent overview of inventions. And you'll end up with a crafted IO (common - damage, acc, or recharge rate, level 15, 20, or 25) at the end of it. -

Wait....
Someone is saying Wolverine was bad? Was it?
[/ QUOTE ]
It felt solidly like "the middle of something" to me. Like walking into Empire Strikes Back 15 minutes late and leaving a few minutes early.
Now, I'm also not comic-heavy. The only stuff I picked up as a kid were GI Joe, Transformers, and a bunch of New Universe stuff, with Sgt Rock, Haunted Tank and the rest from the library. Most of my reading money went toward airplane magazines. So I don't have a place to nitpick accuracy from (or "Which continuity did this come from?")
It *didn't* feel completely finished to me - but it certainly felt like an origin story to me. It felt in may ways like the Book of Lost Tales or the Silmarilion. And I happen to be a *big* fan of backstory... so I did enjoy it. And I liked how Gambit came out.
So... for me, all in all, it was fun to watch. Not sure I'll *buy* it when the DVD comes out, but it was fun to watch. Just felt like it needed a little something else to make it feel finished. -

So I think inasmuch as a Crab soldier is a bad-[censored] Natural, a Rikti soldier is a bizzare and powerful Scientific creation, even without their guns and armor.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's a few things to consider with this:
1. We don't know how much the "normal" Rikti transformation affects them. However, the transformation, from in game lore, *isn't natural.* It's an induced mutation - which, no, doesn't make them mutant, but science. (I don't recall the exact process, right offhand - but note they call the player's (assumed-human) form "birth-form."
2. We don't know what effect this has *outside* their armor - they may well fall into Superstrength/ or something similar.
3. Any discussion of Rikti also has to take into account the newer Rikti Magi and transformed Lost Anchorites and such, with demonstrated mental powers. How much of that gets brought over? And what *would* they have the player playing as as a Rikti EAT? I'd think we'd see options much like the VEATs - weapons-heavy (Headmen type) and psi/control type. -
Subscription or a "favourites" for specific arcs (account-wide list.) Either... better yet, both.
In any case, /signed! -
Ice is water, though.
>.>
Flesh it out a bit, and look for Lady Jade's Power Suggestion thread, they've got them consolidated there. Poke through what's there to get some ideas - I'm reasonably sure you'll find a few water-ish ideas listed - and use them to beef up your ideas for the set. Go through the other control sets and pattern it off of them, with a twist of your own.
(And trivia tidbit - Energy Blast's graphics were initially an attempt at a "water blast" look, way back when.)
Not against the idea, I tend to love playing controllers and doms. Just pointing you at resources to flesh it out a bit more and make it more solid. -
Where did you delete them from, specifically?

Well... the docks we have in the game are already pretty decent... and does nobody else get the tall ships that come into port every now and then? The Lady Washington was here a little while ago with some other ship.

It's been dented. Doesn't affect purchased or compromised "full" accounts. Thus the continued push for clientside email filters.

Although there's that, I think there should be an auto check for all emails. The following words/phrases should be banned, IMO,

There are a bunch I'm missing... Anyways, /signed.

The problems with that, versus clientside filtering:
"Sure. Our SG's website, where you can get teaming information, uniforms if you want to wear them, etc. is www.oursupergroup.com." Or, say, tripod.com/oursupergroup.
All the others?
INF. Gold. "In game currancy." Sale on INF. PLing P-Leveling.
Space all of them out - P O W E R L E V E L I N G! - your filter is now useless.
How big of a filter list do you want? And I can guarantee - having watched spammers get around email filters since 14.4 was considered blazing fast - they'll just reword it (you have seen ads for v1@gr@, right?)
Specific word filters are a no-win, constant game of catchup. -

Welcome to the forum.
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
A moment to look at how long I have been on would inform you that I didn't need any welcomes. To welcome someone who has been around for as long as I have comes off as being obtuse and trollish.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just so you know -
That is a cut and paste reply. Not personalized, other than the search results. Therefore, as it may be (and often is) used in reply to someone new, the "Welcome to the forums" is entirely appropriate.
Similarly, you may not typically be in the *suggestions* forum. Therefore, still appropriate.
Also, the Search tips - especially the -"re: " bit - are there in direct response, not just to forum rules, but to complaints that the search tool is too hard to use. Therefore, a step by step on using them, as well as results to not just inform but compare.
I have, frankly, gotten multiple PMs (being the originator OF that cut-and-paste) thanking me for them, as well as comments in threads doing the same. No "coming off as a know it all," just informing people - at least those who are willing to read and learn. There is no personal attack, as it is not directed at anybody in particular.
All that said, I am, have been, and likely will be in favor of the client-side email filters for this. There's no trying to keep up with the various spammer tactics involved, even if they steal accounts. And if you have email set up for friends/sg to be let through and get a spam email from one of THEM, it's a pretty big indication for them that their account has been compromised. Combining it with the trial restrictions in place (new and historic,) and it just shouldn't be an issue any longer. -
[ QUOTE ]
So all someone has to do is set up 5-10 bids at 10 inf, buy you out, and resell all your stuff for a 50x profit? ;p Don't think you'll be cornering the market much.
[/ QUOTE ]
With the amount (mentioned earlier) that I could put in the market at your price point? Why would anyone bid at *their* 50k when they can get much cheaper orders filled? -
Yeah, they are... as someone who loves archery (real thing, not powerset) it really stood out. Then again, I don't know how many people shoot 4 arrows at a time.

Also, only the rearmost string in a compound bow is drawn (see here partway down the page.) -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
The marketeers say it's impossible for one person to corner the market - but give me an hour a day with the rates you're suggesting, and I darn well could. Even doubling it doesn't take that much. And I'm not a farmer. Someone with a farm-tweaked character could probably be even *more* efficient, emptying the market and setting their own prices.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you drive up prices on an item, everyone who notices will start selling that item. You'd corner it for, oh, maybe half a day, as long as you didn't try to do it at primetime. That's why they say it's impossible for one person to corner the market -- anything you can do, a hundred others can do as well, many of them probably more efficiently.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't drive *up* prices. People would get tired of that. I sell everything at 6 inf.
-
[ QUOTE ]
What I don't understand is why they allow rare and uncommon salvage to be purchased specifically, but common salvage is a roll. If the intent was to make common salvage the most expensive as far as price goes, this makes sense, but when I think "rare", I figure this is something that should be pricey- particularly when compared to "common" salvage. Well, unless we're talking about a steak.
Wouldn't it make more sense to have common salvage something you can buy specifically, and the rare salvage to be something which must be rolled for?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd guess, right offhand, the roll for common salvage is:
(a) so it simulates (somewhat) regular mission drops, and
(b) like regular mission drops, feeds the market (and storage bins.)
Uncommons... just aren't used as much, or really have quite so big an impact marketwise. And rares are pricey. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
It's common salvage. If you're doing any real amount of crafting or selling, you're statistically much better off taking the random roll, even if it's only about twice as much per item to pick what you want.
Make it too expensive and I don't think it would have the effect on the markets and people's paranoia levels I'm hoping for. I'm not sure exactly how much "too expensive" is, but... again, common. Is it really that bad if people generate 60 alchemical silvers at 15 a pop than instead of ~19 alchemical silvers and 93 other pieces of common salvage at 8 a pop?
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually if people are looking for specific salvage, yes it is.
The whole common random roll is to keep the market supplied roughly in even amounts at each tier. If you thought prices were crazy now, then having cheap specific choices would make things many times worse.
[/ QUOTE ]
This. Many times over.
4000 or so Luck Charms being bid on, a bit over 2000 available - at higher prices than most bids.
Now, my characters, while not built to be farmers, probably could be reasonably good at it. (Fire/SS tank, Fire/Storm controller, etc.) If I made 6000 tickets in a run, which I hear is "low," I'm capped after two runs. 9999 tickets - let's just make it 9990 to get rid of that last 9.
At 15 a pop? 666 Alchemical Silvers for what's probably less than an hour's work. Put them all up at 6 inf a piece. As they sell, put up another batch of ten, and another, and another.
Go do it again. And again. Three hours, say (though I can't see myself doing something that tedious that often) - bringing in someone else from my second account, and using their tickets as well - I could probably singlehandedly put a massive dent in the demand for luck charms and fill the majority of outstanding orders.
Say, 45 minutes for the two runs. 15 for all the purchasing and running back and forth. In three hours, one character with those times would have put up nearly 2000 luck charms (and don't forget... I'm mentioning bringing in a second character. Little time to level so they can carry enough salvage, 3500 would not be unlikely.) At some point we hit very old bids for 1, 2, 3 inf - why not wipe those out, too, so what if I'm at a loss at that point. Another hour and all orders are filled, and there's several thousand in surplus.
The next day? Alchemical silvers. Or whatever else has some good demand and a big bid/supply gap. Throw in a game time card, I could probably start affecting three in demand pieces of common salvage daily.
Right now, yeah, I can keep rolling for salvage, and maybe get 10, 20 luck charms out of it - but I also have a bunch of other salvage to feed the market, some of which will sell, some of which won't, which will also slow me down because I won't have the spots to KEEP selling it.
(Then again... I tend to use my salvage, however it's acquired, to make IOs for myself and my SG. *shrug*)
For a completely casual player, someone who maybe runs an arc here or there in between other arcs - sure, picking salvage would work. But it's horribly open to exploitation the way you have it laid out.
