Hmmm... May have to hop in on this, just need a few more pennies.
And to figure out who to get done. -
[ QUOTE ]
What if you don't like the sketch, does the artist revise until you are satisfied, even before they are paid. Or do you agree on a set amount of free sketches beforehand.
Also, checking each stage slows the entire process down, time the artist can spend on other commissions or finishing in general. I understand, you are entitled to get what you pay for, and wouldn't want a mistake to happen.
[/ QUOTE ]
Stepping in here...
I tend to like at least seeing a sketch or three... Depending on the person, since I'll tend (*tend*) to give repeat work to people if the entire process works for me.
Graver, for instance, gives a "mannequin" rough of 2-3 poses as I recall. Which is about the amount of work I'd expect right at the beginning, then an in progress... but that's also charging more than Dispari's looking at
I'm generally happy with seeing that, then letting the person go on their way to finish the piece.
I've had late changes as well (the first piece I had done by Alex, for instance, had a very late change - minor, but a big impact on one of the three characters, as the way their visible eye was made them look "not part of the piece.")
On the flipside, semaj007 I don't think has ever given me a prelim - but has done such good work with my often... "out there" descriptions that I don't feel like I need them. Others I've avoided really going back to because I'd much *rather* see a prelim instead of just going to final.
I wouldn't expect a WIP weekly, or stage-by-stage for most pieces. Perhaps higher cost ones. -
I do believe these are adjusted on test already for the regular duration (4sec or some such.)

(Forget the traction issue, have you ever used Super Jump? You can't move around like that while you're jumping)

That's why you're *super*jumping.
-
They have made it faster already.
And quite a few people used it before, as it is... because you are *flying.* -
I rarely see anyone fight Lusca any more, regardless of server - since the various goofing around with regen rate and such, many issues ago. There used to be times she'd be swarmed with at least 3 full teams of heroes pretty consistently (barring it being 3 AM or something.) That's the most accessible one that I see fought least. *shrug*

I'd just nab Windows 7 Release Candidate if you plan on purchasing the full version when it's released. It's free to download; just make sure you grab the 64-bit version.

Just don't forget, from the sound of it there's no upgrade from RC to Release - it'll be a wipe and reload. -

I'm Canadian.
I find Canadian McDonald's and American McDonald's taste different... for what it' sworth I think American McD's is disgusting.

I've been told that by other Canadians quite frequently, actually - that McDonald's there serves actual food, with taste and nutritional value.

In regards to fast food, if I have a choice... I'll go Chick-Fil-A nine times out of ten.
That other time? Sometimes, you just crave something you're really not sure you can properly identify as food. For that, I have McDonald's, KFC, and Taco Bell.
If you don't believe me about KFC, you haven't worked there (or at least the local ones - they're frightening).
[/ QUOTE ]
I haven't gone to KFC in literally decades - since biting into a chicken leg and having the grease squirt pretty good distance.
Chick-fil-a isn't bad. We've got Pollo Tropical around here, too, though some of the locations have a dickens of a time getting orders *right.* I mean, how I can say "plantains" and end up with mac and cheese, I'll never know.
What I wish was closer to me was Baja Fresh. Not driving to Tampa or the Miami airport for it, even if it was good. -

I don't know, I can't cite the source at the moment, but at one point, the devs said that they would never give away anything that people paid for, in relation to people asking for stuff like some of the add-on pack perks as veteran rewards.
I don't necessarily agree with that philosophy, but under that rationale, we won't see story slots as veteran rewards.
P.S. The helmets and prestige sprint powers don't count. The rationale provided at the time is that you weren't charged extra for the pre-order, so technically, they're not pay-for items.
[/ QUOTE ]
They weren't talking about things like slots.
They were referring, actually, to things you paid extra in editions for - such as the cape of four winds, Arachnos cape, Justice/Sinister sets, etc. Those are tied to specific editions and/or things you paid above and beyond for, and those will not be given away.
Yes, things like the prestige and sprint powers are not covered by that, for the very reason you gave.
Store extras, like the character slots, can obviously be given away - as we can see by the vet rewards. To me, story slots fall in that category. -
Well, when I was getting tired of "fill" and "join farm" on my 'shade in the 40s, I put up a price list instead - "Will mentor in farm for...." and some ridiculous list of procs/uniques. (Don't recall if this was pre- or post-purples, but stuff like the Miracle AND Numina uniques, etc.)
If someone'd actually been willing to pay it, yeah, I'd have sat in. It'd be worth my time then. Nobody did
-
Well, given they did that with character slots, I'd be kind of surprised if they weren't at least looking at it.
-
I don't mind the idea. And honestly, some things (Web grenade, perhaps Caltrops) are in the game already.
I have a hunch you'd see them as a weapon-based set, though, as opposed to lobbing grenade after grenade. -

I don't get the entire "RP" thing anyways. You're playing a video game...and its not exactly text based. So I guess I'm missing the part where RP can be "fun".
[/ QUOTE ]
And others dont' see how base building can be "fun." Or playing the market can be "fun." Or PVP, or farming, or writing MA missions can be "fun."
So what?
[/ QUOTE ]
So that's my opinion...get over it.
[/ QUOTE ]
You said you don't "get" RP. I just pointed out that others don't "get" why others find different activities fun, either. I made no judgment about you "missing where RP can be fun."
Unwad the undies and, in your own words, get over it. -
[ QUOTE ]
What do people do in RP? I see so many people talking about them but i still don't really know what they do. Do they like really get into there toons and always talk like a hero or something like that?
[/ QUOTE ]
There are many different ways to RP. You can do so just by making choices not related to XP, difficulty, or powers for your character (he/she/it really hates the COT, was wronged by Crey, etc. so you pick those missions more often than not.) You can limit it to writing (and being reasonably faithful to) a bio. You can go "all out" into the character's personality, the way they speak (or don't,) how they react to other players ("You raise the dead? You'd better hope I don't see you in a dark alley, or I'll make sure you join them!") You can do so in-game or out of game (writing with a group, for instance.)
There's no one or two ways to "do" RP. -

3. Search. If you want to link to a specific post in a thread, such as your original post, make sure your link looks like:

See the "&number=" part? Compare that to the number RIGHT under your thread title - the number on this reply will be different. That will take you to the specific post.

Actually, I've never had any luck with that, it seems unreliable and only tends to show the PAGE. What I HAVE had luck with is the following:
https://boards.cityofheroes.com/show...ue#PostYYYYYYY
Where the Xs are the Original Poster's post number that started the whole thread, and the Ys are the post number of the post you actually want to SEE. It'll take you right to it, every time.

Yeah, you're right. I remember switching one of them. >,< -
I've got to agree as far as seeing dynamic content - and agree with JadKni. We have ouroboros. By *design* they're meant for "time travel." Old content can go there.
I'd say two weeks would be too short - this coming from someone who loved how the Green Mile was released. I wouldn't mind some things going away, or at least being modified, even with understanding that we "play through time" (for instance, not knowing the truth about the Rikti - though that's revealed a few times, now.) But having stories cycle through every issue or two, sure. -
1. Always consult the wiki.

2. It depends on how related they are, how long they are, how relevant they are to where you're posting, etc. Don't cross post, but other than that, honestly use your own judgement. Some people, for instance, put "consolidated wish list / idea" threads up, but if they warrant longer explanations - break those out.

for new players who leveled 1-50 in MArch.
Something that covers the basics, like:
<ul type="square">[*]How to level up and get more powers.
[*]How to get and use enhancements.
[*]What else there is to do at 50.
[*]What else there is to do at any level.
[*]How to get to other zones.
[*]How to join teams doing other types of missions, and how to get into the missions.
[*]Where to get more info (Paragon Wiki, and the Forums).[/list]
Keep it short and simple, so anyone who wants to can copy it, then email it to that new player asking "where's King's Row and how do I get there?"
[/ QUOTE ]
That's a great idea.
Where are going to post it, here? On the forums?

1 per 3 months wouldn't be a bad way to do it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Really? Because that would give me 23 slots, including the base 3, to potentially fill up. That's a lot of space on the server that I could potentially take up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Each arc is a max of 100k.
You could take up to 2.3 meg. (Not exact, but using 1000k = 1M.) Say we had 50,000 people using all the slots, and all at that level. 115,000 meg... or 115Gb.
That's not a lot of space. Even given backups, redundancies and the like - that's *cheap.* I don't buy that as an argument. Sorry, Aett. Besides, I *can* pay for more slots right now - $15-$20, one month, three slots. Admittedly you need to re-pay to update them. -
[ QUOTE ]
I have also posted suggestions about restricting ma use to characters that are of that zone's level or lower. This is to force characters that want to use the AE out of the zones that they have out leveled.
it would put a stop to level 50's broadcasting for AE teams in Atlas or Mercy.
[/ QUOTE ]
And absolutely kill, say, my SG mission, as well as making teaming much more difficult. -
Because the players would never agree?
Who would you trust to go over the filter?
That said, I *do* agree it needs going over - and problems like you mentioned above (I think I hit the 'nip it in the bud' myself, among others - and I'm pretty sure that's on the list for reasons that Badstorm would understand
) need reviewing. The MA and the character name list should, frankly, be separate as well, if they're affecting each other.
/petition (or /bug, perhaps) is our only recourse right now. -

Does a Blaster have to build Domination?
[/ QUOTE ]Do you need to be seen to build domination? Don't you have an entire secondary to build domination?
[/ QUOTE ]
Did you read more than the first sentence?
[/ QUOTE ]... Ummmmm...
[/ QUOTE ]
Legitimate question, not snark, as I do touch on not just building but being able to make *use* of Domination post-I15, as well as the (frankly) waste of two power choices for the same effect - which you seemed to be missing in your replies.
I structured this (a) with that full assault secondary in mind, (b) so that those who want "normal Illusion" could still mostly do so, and (c) to address the lack of direct control in Illusion (which would make Domination mostly useless for an Illusion Dominator if ported directly over, other than as a built in blue and breakfree.)
All of this is already addressed in prior posts. -
[ QUOTE ]
Two Invisibility powers in the set...give the user a choice...INVIS the whole team, or Invis just yourself.
That's part of the Illusion set.
Personally, I would think it best to just port it, then if you don't like how it plays as a Dom, don't use it.
Porting it over as is, would just mean a different playstyle for the Dom's who did want to use it.
[/ QUOTE ]
... and that's a choice that, in this setup, is still available, just taking up one slot instead of two while making room for some of the direct control that Illusion lacks.
