Many of these have been asked for - whether they'd be actually possible or not, can't say. I'd go along with most of them. Just have to comment on a few things.
Quote:Have to admit - I'm not quite sure what you mean there.for bases, more control of where you will do ( the menu should come up from inside the base to other colition or return to the area you left )
As long as it's not something else to get stuck in, sure. >.< I'm not sure if the dev team "wants" the portal taking up space or not (and it does take a good chunk of space,) but given the entryway is a "must keep" room anyway, I don't see why we couldn't have a door or some such instead.Quote:another thing I'd add a gazibo or something over the base portal in the cities and isles.. that empty glowing mess is just odd ( and the entry portal should be able to be a door or hatch or things, inside your bases
A few things:Quote:hmm the teleport power, revamp it so the last power in it isn't group teleport but maybe something like map port, or team recall
(( map Port, could be like a unlocible requirment too, get all the exploration of the map, and then if you are a teleporter you can just port directlly to contacts and key points on the map along with misson doors and zone doors ))
- "Map port" we're told won't happen. Not least because the 2d map doesn't take 3d into account - it doesn't know if you want to end up on top of a building or in the center of a hill. Things like the mission teleporter are fed the full set of coordinates for the mission entrance.
- Some people - Masterminds, in particular, though I've got a blaster that's part of a set team - use team teleport. Replacing it - as the devs found out with the initial round of Patron power adjustments - is a *bad* idea. (Not sure if you were here for or aware of that or not - initially they just went and replaced the "least used" (or something) powers while the issue was still in closed beta. The (justified) backlash had them add the power instead, giving us 5 in most APP/PPPs.) -
Quote:... except, of course, that it's good to have that pause to go in, refresh the bubbles, have a few moments as a breather in case you need to heal up/rest/etc, and of course it gives enough time that most of your powers are probably recharged (barring tier 9s) so you can handle the next wave...Make the next wave spawn as soon as the previous one is defeated. Nerf the merits accordingly. Problem solved.
Sorry, speeding it up sounds more like "Problem caused" to me. -
Funny, some friends and I were talking about this the other night - about how irritating the villain respec trial (and the unlockable contact tied to it) are, and how nice, generally, the hero respec is - especially since you can't speed it, and you get halfway decent merits for it as well.
Though I'd agree, on *both* sides, about having something different to do for each trial. -
I found that highly *irritating* when I was there, TBH. Just one of many things. (Along with the "Stretch Armstrong" characters that only had one face, unless you chose to hide it with something, tails sticking straight out the back, the plastic look, the "everyone stand around and wait for this to respawn," ....)
-
What, zoning over and over 'til you get something besides "Kidnap so and so" isn't fun?

/signed. -
I'm going with the "I don't think the devs would think it was worth it for what could be a *single* power." I wouldn't mind seeing them, but I think they'd have to go into some sort of specialty / buy only / exchange pool (where, honestly, things like some of the snipe sets could go.) That way there could *be* a place to put some of the more esoteric sets (Wormhole/Black Hole, anyone?) without watering down drops further.
Alternately, there have been suggestions for self-made dual-aspect IOs and the like in the past. No, they don't give set bonuses, but it could help out. -
Your patron gives you two sets of arcs - two at 40-45, one of which does lead to you betraying them, and another at 45-50 where they want to find out what this "destiny" thing is, too. (I want to say there's another at 40-45, as well, that's unrelated.)

Quote:/this.I like the fact that, if you see a Claws/Regen scrapper named Claws and Effect on Pinnacle, you know, without a shadow of a doubt, that it is ME.
Not one of any number of people who thought the name was clever and decided to use it.
What Samuel Tow said holds true. People that are well known in this community are recognizable if they are on their signature characters. Yes, we have signature characters, just like the devs take the identity of the signature heroes in the game.
Bill Z Bubba, Friggin' Taser, Claws and Effect, and anyone else you care to name. Those are our identities in the context of this game.
My real name is Chris. A very common name. Within the world of City of Heroes, I am Claws and Effect. There is no other person known as that. (at least not on my server)
I go by Claws for short, because you can type it faster, or C&E. If someone says "Hi Claws" in a global channel, they are talking to me, and no one else. It would suck if someone said "Hi Claws" and then had to clarify who exactly they meant.
You have to go out of your way to be Memphis Bill anywhere - because, y'know, I happen to have different versions of him everywhere (Tanks, scrappers, a warshade, a brute...)
Even in game, per bio his name's William. And you can click on civilians and run across any number of williams.
And yes, from the above - I've been recognized in-game. I've run across Samuel Tow, BillZBubba, Beef Cake, and numerous other individuals who had instant recognition from the forums. When AE was introduced, it was interesting - I was on another brute most of the time, specifically *because* I wanted to poke around (I'd been working on the tutorials in the guide section.) Switched over to the copy of Memphis Bill I'd sent to the test server and had several people ask where I'd been - I had to mention I'd been *right there,* right next to several of them, just on another character. But switching to MB there was no doubt it was me. Recognition *is* a factor, here.
(And no, my global's not @memphis bill.) -
Frankly? Stupid argument. *shrug*
I *enjoy* COH. (And I'm enjoying Aion, as well.) In the end, my "loyalty" is not to a game, but to my feeling like I'm getting proper value for my entertainment dollars. COH has done so for years, and has done little to nothing to make me question it.
Eventually, I'll get bored with COH. These things happen. The continual evolution of the game has been putting that off over and over again, among other things. At that time, I'll remain loyal to my entertainment dollars. If I feel like spreading them around - some here, some to Aion, some to wherever else, so be it.
Anyone wants to complain? They have the right to do so once they take over my payments, and pay me more in addition to *not* be elsewhere. But I don't think anyone can afford my price for that. -
Yes, yes you are.

Seriously - besides the badges some may want, you can get some nice temp powers from some of the side missions, and IIRC SOs for the smash'n'grabs. And doing them beforehand, of course, gives more time for the bank job. -
Quote:I'd drop the "chance of recipe back." The recipe itself isn't "part" of the invention - and what about memorized? (Obviously you can't memorize sets, but still.) The invention fee, yeah, would be gone - heck, i'd say there should be a fee to reverse engineer it, frankly. You would get a random portion/percentage of the salvage back.
You would get a chance of a recipe back.
You would lose your invention fee.
Though for the "benches are cluttered," I've got to agree... time to either remind people to use them, or make some of that INF back dropping them on the market. -
Quote:But utterly useless in PVE, which is where most people are in-game.It could save ya a power pick and power pool choice if you pvp, no stealth would be needed then.
In any case, secondaries for stalkers tend to be more defense/etc, so I'm not *sure* trip mine and the like would be there. I wouldn't *argue,* I just wouldn't expect to see it. And besides that... why not take /ninjutsu, which already has two armors, a self heal, smoke powder, blinding flash... it kind of is "devices" designed for a Stalker.
Edit: Just saw the "thought process" post. I don't know, I think I'd go more the *other* way. PFF - to me - isn't helpful on a Stalker at low levels specifically from the "can't attack" bit. If you want a more device-y set, dropping a lot of defense, I'd go for something with more of a decoy/misdirection theme. -
Quote:Not sure about the "shadow between you and the monitor" - I see that just causing tech support callsRevamping Dark Astoria would be awesome, but only if they make it even creepier. Do not take away the fog!!
I think it would be cool to just be sitting there and all of a sudden a random object (trash can, bottle or some other normal neighborhood object) would just kinda roll up to you from out of nowhere and stop at your feet followed by children giggling or something equally creepy.
Or maybe if you're in 3rd person view you could see a random shadow pass between you and your monitor every now and then.
Have some random spook spawns that just wait for someone to get into viewing range then run behind a building or down an alley and disappear.
Maybe be walking near a window and have a random chance of the glass shattering (both sound and particle effects) would be even cooler if the shattering had a random chance to spawn an enemy or two out of the window.
It would also be nice if they expanded the underground tombs section in the graveyard to go deeper into some catacombs and maybe at the very end of them would be the entrance to the banished pantheons home.
.
The catacombs... could be interesting, since IIRC Moth Cemetery goes back a long, *long* way (burial ground pre-Paragon.) -
Quote:I'm pretty sure they fixed that in the old forums.I thought that in the old forums, the search would only look for words that were four letters or longer.
Making searches for Ice / Axe Tankers harder.
However, I also think it's re-broken in the new ones - try searching for "Ice" with Blaster, Controller, and Dominator selected. There's absolutely a thread (on the first page, even, as I type this) of the Controller section talking about Ice. You end up with "no matches." But Fire works. -

Quote:Don't be so specific. I could go and ask about "Assault rifle," "AR/Dev," "AR / Dev," "AR DEV" "Rifle," "AR/*" or more terms. Searching on "Dev" is, frankly, a *bad* idea as that's short for "Developer."Hi I didnt see a forum for board technical questions so this the only place I could think to post this.
I did a search for AR/DEV, because I wanted to see if theres any posts on this so I can read what others say.
and the results are 0
So there are NO posts on this bulletin board with the term AR/DEV in it?
how so I search for that? thanks
I would, frankly, start with -
Term - Rifle
Forums - Select "Blaster," then Control-Click on Corruptor.
Results - 231 hits. Some mentioning AR/ in the title. (At least one even mentioning AR/Dev specifically.)
That said, a direct search on AR/Dev, even within quotes (in other words, "AR/Dev") comes up with nothing. I'm assuming the slash is throwing something off. -
Quote:Exploration badges also give some XP. And some missions can be completed - but not many - without defeating a single enemy. Just to be *reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally* nitpicky. What a silly question. Of course not. But can you tell us how one advances in this game in any other way than by defeating enemies? No?

Quote:It depends on the MM. I find Bots/FF to be very hands off and rather dull. My Thugs/Poison was more hands-on - and the attitude I had towards MMs changed when dealing with the two. I couldn't stand masterminds before, while playing the bot/ff for that very reason. "I don't do anything, it's boring." Now - other than bots/ff, which I still do pull out on occasion - I generally enjoy playing them. Are Masterminds really that hands-off in play? Even if not, my main concern about them is that much of the fighting is done through the pets. I love pets, but usually I like them to support me, rather than the other way around. For that reason, in WoW, I preferred a Warlock to a Hunter, and in Diablo my necromancer used a basic clay golem to tank, while he used each level-up to strengthen his own damage and control
That said - don't forget we do have Going Rogue coming. You like your ill/rad? Hold off and have one switch sides. -
Even though it wasn't one of the typos, it did get me considering a Ramen warrior. Fighting for the rights of noodles everywhere.

Quote:It's not broken, it doesn't need to be fixed, any more than someone preferring green over red.How then do you suggest COH go about getting more people to be active on certain servers?
You don't like the lower population servers? Roll on the higher pop ones. Amazing how that whole "personal preference" thing works, huh.
Alternately, if you *absolutely* feel "something" needs to be done, do it yourself. Find people, make up a superteam/SG/themed/whatever, get people who are interested together and put them on the lower pop server. -

Quote:Don't turn off your XP.Good thought, but really all you do while playing is Missions which as I said earlier barely gave you any exp.
Funny how I seem to have gotten so many characters past level 1 in the past five years, even before patrol XP, XP smoothing, double XP weekends, more XP smoothing, XP bumps and all the other BS.
Try not stealthing missions.
Try running missions that arent' grey to you.
If you have half a clue how to play, bump up your rep.
If all that's sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo difficult, try this instead.
