And since nobody's mentioned it (and I don't mean Pinnacle or Victory, both well worth checking out) - two links.
One to the wiki. Useful resource. Bookmark it.
The other a link to the wiki's servers page, with a brief description and east/west coast breakdown - though it doesn't tend to make a difference.

I forget what the command line was, but have you tried launching directly from cityofheroes.exe?
Wait, found it -
Quote:Short term solution, just to see if that works.Send a shortcut of the "CityofHeroes.exe" file in the game directory to the desktop. Right click the shortcut and change the Target by adding [SPACE]-project coh at the end of the line.
(I'd also head to the website and fire off an email to NCSoft support. Yes, they'll ask you to reinstall and such, they've got a process to go through. When you DID reinstall, did you uninstall and delete the directory first?) -
I go through phases of playing and not bothering with it. Find some interesting stuff (sometimes in a good way, sometimes not) just picking random arcs at times, other times I'll look for something higher rated, or vs some group, level range or alignment.
-
Huh. So it is - but the direct link to one of the diaries listed just before that works, and the others are linked from there (at the bottom.) Not sure why it's having a fit over that.
I'll have to note it in there. Thanks. -
Quote:At this point? Pretty much what was said the day it showed up, honestly.Personally, I'm not even sure rep applies as a useful metric, and at this point, has descended into a tool used for petty show-offs. Most of the players whose opinions I respect have, much like me, simply turned their rep display off due to the ease with which some players can actively abuse the rep system.

Quote:Gah. Was hoping you'd found a way around it, a beta, or some way of getting flashed via open source or some such.UGH. Short form: I'm an idiot. Browser's 32-bit.
Long form: I recently migrated to Win7 from Dell, so I get a nice little docking bar that I moved my shortcuts to. I copied the 32-bit version only to that dock, not the 64 bit. So, this was all in my head. Sorry, guys. Show's over. -

If I'm reading it right, it's this:
"Since the Shadow Simulacrums in the New Posi can copy players, why not take this technology and rework Phantom Army to copy their forms as well?"
Me... I don't care for illusion, so I don't really have an opinion either way. *shrug* -

Added a little look from Castle. >.> Not the most hopeful, but at least it's not "Yeah, they're dead, tossed in the bin."

Ties to Gadzul Oil, an ancient Egyptian pharoh (and attempt to over throw same,) and a worldwide "mystic computer" are what we have to go on. Word floating around long ago was more shapeshifting.
They've got more backstory than that, actually. The Coralax we see, except for the Shaper, are Coralax-Human hybrids. The Coralax themselves serve Merulina, who crashed to earth millenia ago, essentially creating them (and, I believe, their slave race... whose name escapes me at the moment, probably in the EAT guide in the sig - and one of whom, apparently, was found in the ship you save scientists in in Striga.) They're currently rather annoyed at us "land dwellers" for what we're doing in and to the ocean, and decided to do some cleanup - starting with us.Quote:Indeed. Coralax appear to have no fleshed out backstory or origin(short of being 'infected by coral'). I was disappointed to hear it was 'up to us' in AE.
... seriously, stuff like this is why I want EATs. In depth storyline to follow (except for what we were given with VEATs, blah) that doesn't necessarily have to have anything to do with the main arcs. -

Quote:All you need to do is think for yourself, and Tyrant and cronies will give you freedom from all your troubles. Most call the same status "death" and do try to avoid it.Our glorious Emperor has provided a life free of difficulties for those wise enough to embrace them.
I realize life without your chains, without someone telling you what you can and can't think may be scary. "What should I think today, oh Tyrant? Am I thinking it properly, mindcop? Please, make my shackles heavier, let the chains rattle in my glorious servitude!"
Freedom is not anarchy, self determination is not chaos. Attempts to portray them as the same thing do nothing but indicate how brainwashed you've become. And this saddens me.
I don't think anyone would have wanted to live - as it were - under the Hamidon. Cole stopping the Hamidon? Nobody argues that it was the right thing to do. But it's the actions after that - Might does not mean Right. Might does not make one a just ruler. -
A true leader... of gangs, maybe. Seems even the Cole propaganda corps couldn't spin past the "how I made myself a petty warlord in 30 fights" of Marauder.
Seriously - "Marauder" is not a name you give yourself as a symbol of "Defending the weak" or "fighting for justice." "Marauder" is a name of "I'm going to beat you up and take what's yours."
Perfectly fitting for the Tyrant's regime. "Head security," indeed. "Chief thug" is more like it.

More EATs? Yes. I like them since they can be more in-depth on sections of the lore, being tied to the story. They can also be used as experiments for mechanics that wouldn't necessarily fly in a normal AT.
A PPD/Longbow EAT, though? Blah. Give me the coralax, the BotBS (the only two that haven't been confirmed killed as concepts for EATs) or, sure, as someone else mentioned power armor. (Wish I could find that "Mecha EAT" thread, which apparently was killed in a prior forum pruning.) -
Quote:... huh?Anyone know how to get the enhancement numbers to show up when you mouse over them? Since I17, all the numbers are gone.
Went and logged in now. Going over a slotted (or in-tray) enhancement, it still says what it does. Leave it over the bar with the power name, and it gives base and total enhanced values.
In stores, right click and hit info.

Quote:I'd like to know how, if that's the case. Adobe's page that was linked doesn't appear to be a disclaimer. Just fired up IE8x64, a few flash sites (that tried to install flash) - nada. (And it's actually relevant to *me* at work, since it affects some of our interactions with customers. Nobody using a 64 bit browser sees the Flash stuff, and they get the same "no version available" Stormbird linked to.)@ Stormbird and Turg:
It might be possible that Adobe is simply providing a disclaimer that it's not supported because there are apparently some compatibility that has not been tested by them, but that it may still work... similar to how CoH "did not support" Windows Vista/7 for a long time, yet we had thousands of people using it.
In this case, even if Turg's works, does not necessarily mean that Warbaby's should... at least not without some detailed instruction.
I know they said they were working on a 64 bit compatible version, but it's still broken here.
Turg, throw out some of those sites. I'm curious. And curious to see how you have it working. -

Quote:Funny thing. I've done that last bit in game multiple times - see "Scrapper LFT!" "Defender LFT!" "Blaster LFT!" within moments of each other, and responded with "There's your team right there. One of you invite the other two and you're good to go."But that's a minimum. If I were to describe what I think would be a good healthy environment for the game - something I would be pleased with - then I like those times when you have to turn people away because there is no room, and you manage to point those random people towards each other, so they can form another team. Optimally, that would be what the game was like - a swarming mass of grouping people.
What happened? (Randomly making up ATs)
"Scrapper LFT!" "Defender LFT!" "Blaster LFT!"
"Scrapper LFT!" "Defender LFT!" "Blaster LFT!"
"Scrapper LFT!" "Defender LFT!" "Blaster LFT!"
Enter mission. Finish mission. Exit mission.
"Scrapper LFT!" "Defender LFT!" "Blaster LFT!"
So... yeah. And I'd almost put money down that at least one of those, at any time, had either ******* to friends or here about "not being able to find a team."
Unless you're starting a TF/SF/Trial or planning on tackling a GM... you don't need to do *anything* besides log in and pick a character "before you can even start playing." Know what else? You can keep checking for people before, during, and after missions. No "work" involved.Quote:Ideally, you would log on, flip your LFG and at least 3 people who type slowly would get the "already on a team" message. Sure, that's an absurd fantasy, but it's much better than the idea that you need to "work" to form a group before you can even start playing. Work should only be involved when doing something difficult, not when just getting started. -
Quote:You're not supposed to say sensible things I can agree with. What's wrong with this world, first EvilGeko now you! Sheesh! You're reading something the graph simply isn't saying. PvP changes came at the end of 2008; if PvP changes were what took away the revenue, it would not have taken two quarters to see a decline in revenue. A more reasonable (though by no assurances more correct) conclusion to draw is that it would be Architect or Anniversary that were the larger disappointments leading to cancelled subscriptions.
However, the largest drop, between third and fourth quarters 2009, coincides with the launch of City of Heroes' only real competitor. That's by far the most likely culprit. With the content lag that's come with the upcoming release of Going Rogue, CoHV has been a poor competitor, but making judgements before seeing some revenue reports after the release of GR would be grossly premature. -
Quote:"Wait and see." Zone event does not necessarily mean something like the last halloween one, or even the Croatoa war. Troll raves, Scrapyard's followers and the Steel canyon fires are also zone events, and those aren't that difficult (generally.)I really really hate this zone event trend. It doesn't sound like I'll be making use of the Incarnate system.
Hopefully I'll be able to do a lot of beta testing for Going Rogue, so I can find out if it's something I'll buy. Although City of Heroes is still by far my favorite game, a lot of the team oriented stuff is beyond my deficient teaming abilities, and I don't know yet whether I'll be able to make much use of Going Rogue at all. For my purposes, it might not be worth purchasing.
Now, we know it's been said the Incarnate system wll require you to be powerful - then again, you are 50. But that doesn't necessairly mean "You'll have to get multiple teams together" - after all, I'm sure the devs have seen how the halloween stuff fizzled after the first few days (and is generally ignored now.)
