You can create additional trays. Up to 10, in fact. Binds, as well.
Edit: Like so:

Quote:Yes, and I was being a smartalec, thus the smiley at the end.I understand the definitions of intentional and accidental. I was asking why the character chose to use a misspelling of the word "arctic," since the OP said they were doing so on purpose. I was hoping we would be treated to an insight into the character's story.

Quote:Not much to parse. Copying a line from one of mine and changing it, they show up as:Hey, so they are! Is there a wiki page or something somewhere which tells me how to parse this?
"Globalname" "5" " Name, Name2" "Note"
Global name is easy - the global name, without the @
The number - the rating, from 0-5
The names are the odd bit - it's not just separation by name, but by spaces in the name as well. (if you noted me, you wouldn't have "Memphis Bill, Name2, Name3" but "Memphis, Bill, Name2, Name3")
"Note" should be self explanatory.

Quote:It sounds about right, I remember his thread asking for advice on his first character's look.True, but I don't always look at that date as a reference of a "start playing date", because it's not when they started playing. It's only when they activated their forum account.(Mind you this COULD be all on the same day, but not always true) I started a year or two before the date under my name.

And - careful, OP. I've got... oh, the count's gone up, but I was near 170 characters on two accounts last I looked. That altitis sneaks up on you. (I should zero out my CGT account and just log everyone in - it'll take at least two hours, but I'd have an up to date count.) -
I've already decided I'm taking a few doms blueside, no matter what, just because I like the dom playstyle. I'm looking forward to a mixed Con/Dom team.
-
It probably wouldn't really stand out with everything else zapping and whooshing around.
(Much like ... I think it's Lotus? putting in recorded car motor - and other - sounds on an electric car to cue others in that it's around.)
-
Ignoring the bit that they're clientside, so all I'd have to do is remove the text file...
No, I wouldn't view them. (Much like rep.)
Hope to learn? How many of the same people are on ignore lists. I doubt it's really used much.
Impact? Zilch. -
Depending on what you're looking for, and avoiding the Rikti and Ouroboros and other other-dimensional types:
Positron
Nemesis
Black Scorpion might *drop* something he stole...
Crey.

The only answer is "In what situation?"
If, for some reason, I was looking for an "ultimate teammate-hitpoint-replacement healing type," a BS/SR scrapper would be.... er... far from optimal. -
With a tank, you're going to be trying to keep stuff on him/her/it. You can, if you want, hover close with your Force field going (and, hey, snag stealth and do some toe-bombing) but you'll definitely have to get "heal" out of your vocabulary and mindset. You can drop triage beacon at his feet if you want. *shrug* It's not a heal, it's a regen buff.
How are you keeping others from running low on health? You're making the enemy easier to kill faster (-resist and -def debuffs,) hit less (-perception and -dmg in seeker drone, for instance, as well as the various -recharge) and buffing your team somewhat (FFG.) Their health... isn't your concern, to be blunt. Removing health faster on the enemy is.
-
How do they work? Very well. Triage beacon - ignore it. Your point in traps is buffing your team (FF) and debuffing the enemy. Same with Trick Arrow - loads of debuffs.
The solution to "Health going red" is - pop a green and debuff some more.
Heals are overrated (barring a *very* few situations - old hami raids, some mothership raids, very early sewer teams.) And I say that with a 50 Emp/Rad and 50 Ice/Emp, so there's no emp hate here.
Edit: Defenders are an unusual AT. Every primary plays quite differently from every other - try playing a stormy like your traps, for instance. -
Obvious one - 45-50, the final Project DESTINY arc (fight Recluse.)
40-45, your Patron arc.
Actually, look on the wiki. Specifically here. -
Skyway city has one.
But why do *you* *request* them? Honestly, as presented on release, the Arena was - among other things - for public entertainment as well. How interesting is seeing someone run 10 yards and get tackled when you're regularly surrounded by people who outrun cars, jump over buildings, fly, etc?
Also, while sure people would go to sports, why would anyone want to build them in Paragon City - ground zero for superpowered battles, superpowered villains breaking out of the zig, and transdimensional invasions? A huge group of people gathered in one spot (that's difficult to get out of) = a target. Heck, imagine getting a nice ball park or football field and having the Devouring Earth take interest.
There's the final point that not only are those teams "spoken for" by other cities, but any use of them = paying licensing fees, quite likely - money I'd much rather see go towards more development of the game. -
Quote:... which currently seems to be "Still the Intel X25 and almost anything based on the Sandforce controllers."SSDs perform great. Downside is you can buy a good 7200PRM 1TB (1000GB) drive for $80-100 but only get a 30-32GB SSD for that price. A good 160GB SSD is around $400-450 today.
SSDs aren't inexpensive, there performance varies widely and they are evolving at a rapid pace. If you can afford one, please at least read the current reviews to find out which ones are the best right now.
They have (as sort of mentioned above) been creating "SSD Boot drives" at about 40 Gb (including one from Intel that's literally half of one of their X25 drives - I'd say there's a minor performance hit, but with how these run, you aren't going to notice.) Downside being you put on Windows and watch to make sure almost nothing else goes on there.
I still haven't been able to bring myself around to purchasing one. Then again, I can't get myself to pay a premium for a 10k VelociRaptor. Give me a WD Caviar Black-series drive and I'm happy. -

Quote:Won't be able to just plug in that HD and go - Windows will puke all over the new chipset, etc, etc, etc drivers. I don't even particularly trust repair installs.I guess I'll go with whatever is good now, I don't want to wait until next year to get a gaming rig again

I won't worry too much about the sockets then, as long as the processor will be useful for a while.
By the way, good news, my HDD isn't fried
So I can get all my files off it.
Will I just be able to use that HDD and it's install, to save all my files, games etc, or will it throw a hissy fit because the mobo (and everything else) has been changed and I'll need a fresh install?
Get a small, fast drive (not necessarily an SSD,) install your OS, transfer from the old drive - depending on the size of the drive, you may use it as a data drive. Might be able to do a parallel install, as well... I'm just "eh" about that, as well.
And don't say "price doesn't matter." I have the Aug. MaxPC with a dual-six-core-Xeon, triple-water-cooled video card, 24 Gb RAM, etc... $15,800 or so. >.>
New build - start with FatherXmas's lists.
Have my system around as well, but as an 1156, you're not going to be able to grab a six core processor (if one would be useful to you - look at your usage, not just 'wants' for that.) and I *believe* i'd max out at 16 Gb. (Of course, running Win7x64 Home, I'd max at that anyway without a version upgrade.)

Quote:take advantage of the power customization. use a costume slot and change the color for when on teams.
Blaster. Cold APP. Not customizable at this time.
Edit: That said, any change to the power has to also be visible enough (in both anchor and radius) and thematic. I've been blinded by it myself (sometimes on my own character with it.) Thinning it out a bit would probably be enough. -
Quote:Stop right there.I got to thinking about this one for awhile now for my level 48 Ice/Ice Blaster. As you guys know, Blasters are very squishy and the majority of their powers are ranged attacks for obvious reasons being any close melee would almost guarantee a certain quick death and a trip to your friendly neighborhood Hospital.
Go load up almost any blaster. Look at the secondary set.
Blasters, while not a "melee AT," are not helpless in melee (barring a choice to skip these powers by the player.) Some of the hardest hitting powers are melee powers. And you *do* have other powers to assist your survivability in /ice - chilling embrace, for instance, doesn't just slow the enemy but applies a damage debuff.
The primaries have a mix of utility - some which work better than others with ice patch. AR? Ignite/flamethrower on a ranged ice patch? No real risk. Your Ice/ has multiple holds available, strong AOEs and a nice cone.
Honestly, even with that ice/ice being 48, it sounds more like you need to reevaluate your tactics (why are you rooting yourself putting an ice patch - a *small* ice patch - down next to an AV instead of dealing damage and their associated slows/-rech? What is your tank doing? Why are you not, in team play, holding that ice patch until something breaks away - of course, again, ice/ice is going to give you holds to work with?) -
I have to admit, most of my grav/ doms seem to find themselves paired with /elec. No particular reason. Cold and Energy are both (IIRC) going to give you power boost. Cold and Thorns both have more AOEs than Energy (ISC/Frost Breath, Fling thorns/Thorn Burst/Ripper - and thorntrops if you want to count those) - which will be handy after wormholing a group into a corner somewhere.
If you've got an idea for cold, go cold. Having a concept in mind always seems to help get into a character faster. -
Quote:I'll also point out APB for this. OK, it's mostly FPS with a very small touch of MMO, but it's level-less (you gain rep with a contact, your threat level rises and falls, etc.)The real game design question is "why have levels at all?" Its possible to make a game without combat levels. So why do they exist? There's basically two reasons for their existence at all:
<snip>
For example, levels give the player a path for measuring progress, but there are other ways to do that including the end game system the devs are currently working on for City of Heroes.
It takes a bit to get used to - and the lack of segregation (being FPS/PVP based) can cause some issues when you're dispatched against and/or your target calls for backup. (Imagine, in this game, if your level 10 was opposed by a level 9 - who then called in three fully IO'd out level 50s to deal with you, no degradation of ability or number of powers, etc. There are times it makes it decidedly not fun. ) -
Pfft. I get 2-3 emails a day inviting me to the Cataclysm beta while telling me my WoW account is under investigation. Which is a neat trick, given I don't have one.
