In which case, per castle, you won't have the inherent stamina. You'll still have the "pool" stamina. Functionally the same, just that you'll have one more pool taken up by Fitness.
  2. 1972. Amazing Brother typewriter and a huge (still) console TV... and two minutes, fifteen seconds of people singing (positively!) about Richard Nixon. I think today that would count as inhumane.

(I have to end up referring to it. Between those, vet pieces, other pack pieces, etc. I end up mixing what's in what.)

... plus tossing rose petals on someone with hover makes a very colorful tornado. Dresses up Singularity pretty well, too.
  5. I'm... generally neutral on the idea. The interface could use more work, and "mini-respecs"(undo last level-2 levels-5 levels or some such) could be useful, sure. I'd argue that this:
    Quote:
It's obviously very clear now that respeccing is much more desirable than it was previously thought. Besides the three trials, we're given respecs as veteran rewards (and we get several respecs as rewards), and there's also respec recipes that drop. Looking at the price those recipes command on the market, they're indeed very coveted. There's no argument that respecs are highly desired by a large number of people.
is a huge assumption, though, as far as the number of people who want multiple respecs. I'd be more willing to wager that most of the people who have played the game have no idea what a "respec" is, and don't particularly care. The other end - the ones who love to min/max, tweak builds to a razor's edge, worry about every single hundredth-point of DPS, END use, softcapping, etc. and spend a ton of time on IOs, are burning through those respecs.

(Me, I'm in the middle. Some things will make me respec, yes, but most of my characters still have all their vetspecs, a good portion still have their freespecs - even without the one we got this issue - and very few have run the trial in the last year. Actually, I don't think I've run the respec trials in the last year at all.)

Respecs are desirable? Yes, to some. To a majority? Ehhhh...

    In any case, a nitpick:

This isn't exactly true. Run a VEAT to (say) 26, post forced-24-respec (something I find irritating on them, but I won't get into it.) If it wiped out everything from creation forward, like you were leveling from level 1, you'd be redoing it again, hitting 24 and starting from level 1. You don't. (You DO do that if you open up your second build, however. But only the first time you take it to 24.)

I honestly can't think of any that are silent.
    /this.

The few times I haven't seen text, I've pretty much assumed I missed it.
  7. Earlier this morning, I had someone (honestly, didn't check to see if they were Rogue or Hero status yet, but a villain AT) send my namesake tank a tell to ask if I wanted to join in a Citadel TF. Unfortunately, they couldn't see my answer.

    Why?

"<playername> is not accepting enemy messages at this time."

They had no idea they were set to that. I don't know how long they were trying to set up a task force, but that would make things a mite bit difficult. (I swapped over to a villain and let them know.)

With the GR system, I think we're going to run into a lot of this. So, if possible, I'd suggest:

    1. Minor patch to globally set all Enemy Chat options (tells and broadcast - can't recall off the top of my head if Local is tied in to any option) to "Accept," and
    2. An announcement (forum and MOTD) letting everyone know that this has been done (and how to change it back, if desired.)

And personally, even though it's not "thematic," my Mind/Fire Dom was an absolute treat to play from 1-50.
  9. I don't know, in the COH world, I can't see people getting any more worried about a cloud bank showing up inside a building than they would be about seeing a light drizzle outside. "It's one of those Storm defender types. Seriously, do they EVER think about the rest of us?"

That said, yeah, many of the powers you've already mentioned, some of my friends and I will end up joking about the NPCs just not caring. Or not reacting to one of their buddies running by on fire, or coated in ice, or with a giant arrow or spine sticking out of them.

Then there's Placate. "Oh, no, sorry, I didn't just stab you from behind.. no, really, I slipped. Big misunderstanding. We're good? Thanks, knew you'd be understanding about it." *stab again.*

Ahh. OK, that makes more sense.
  11. That's an "Easy" option?

Also, after 41, you'd then have a form with (going by current forms) at least four powers. You'd also have the form itself plus those powers to select - and you get all the powers immediately on getting the form. 18 slots, 5 powers (form +associated powers) - that's a little tight, especially since you'd probably want *something* picked at 44, 47, and 49. And if you'd pick a form later, you'd have from six to fifteen fewer slots to distribute.
  12. Yeah, as long as there's one member in the group, the group and anything associated with it will be safe.

And - with the third question - the prestige doesn't belong to the players, it belongs to the entity known as the "supergroup." If that's gone, who would it be refunded to?
  13. Yeah, I put in a note in an edit (as in at the same time as your reply, you didn't miss it) that I had written this from a Tanker point of view. I'd actually noted to double check that when doing the revision, and promptly ignored the note when going over it again. >.<

(I don't mind doing edits - y'all catch stuff, it ends up making the guide better. I appreciate it. And yes, I just *typed,* not just said, y'all.)

You are correct, tanker Burn grants the protection without hitting anything. However, the version I was playing with before I made my post was the scrapper version. The scrapper version acts as I stated, if you use Burn with no enemy around, you get no protection (you don't even get the fire FX). Another bug report filed.
    Oy.

Interesting. Dug out my Fire/DB scrapper (who was going to get a respec for next issue anyway, and didn't have burn yet (28) because of fitness - yeah, the burn patch, on my system, doesn't even show up without it having an enemy to hit.

I'm going to charitably call that "interesting." >.< As well as check a few things brute-side.

I'm half elated about Fitness becoming inherent and half dreading the work it'd take to use it.
Heh. The joy of altitis. (217 here.) I'm only planning on respeccing 2-3 high levels because of Fitness. Lower levels, I'm either on hold with playing (lowbies) or they're not far enough in that a respec would be all that onerous - second build or a fast /respec with the inevitable freespec would only take a few minutes when I first log on to them after the issue release.

Don't look at it as something you "have to do all at once" (or even "have to do.")

Yep. Actually running with an (occasional) group of four Electric/Electric blasters. They're in Lightning Field and Ball Lightning, at the very least, and getting fit in to other attacks (AOEs first) as well.

Team-TP in, fire everything off, and everything's either dead, drained of end, and/or staggering around.

That I know isn't the case. Take a fire tank with Burn, pop up combat attributes, stand inside city hall or someplace there are no mobs and fire off Burn. You'll see your Immob protection kick in immediately, even if there's nothing around to hit.

2: Which secondary would be helpful to a troller who wants to team/solo either one as well as the other?
3: which power pools are recommended based on the first two questions answers ?
4: as my usually char at is blaster which controller primary/secondary would be a good match for me?
and 5: which epic/patron pool would be good based on the above answers?
sorry if I sound newbish but I have never successfully played a controller and want to very badly thanks and hope to see some people soon in game
have to agree we're missing some information, however, let's ask some counter-questions...

Namely, why do you want to be a controller? Just because you haven't, as you put it, successfully played a controller? Specific supergroup/team setting? Character concept?

Personally, I'd say roll a bunch of them and see what clicks with you. Roll a few dominators, as well. To just throw a random suggestion out? Plant/Rad. Plant's just a lot of fun. Radiation has a lot of utility both solo and teamed. But of course, it may not "click" with you. That's why we have 12 slots per server

Not all. Yeah, the ones that do, you may have to tell Steam to launch in "offline mode" for them to work (looking at things like HL2,) but others you can launch directly from a shortcut. The Steam overlay won't do anything and your friends list won't indicate you're in game.

Just check steam/steamapps/common and check out the install directory. (Mine's nearly 200 gb... >.< ) Go into the directory for the individual game. Most will have some launcher or executable - you can go directly from there without Steam being involved for many of them.
  20. Looks like I have to dig up the patch note on that then. Was still going by the in-game description of:
    Quote:
Significantly boosts the damage of all your Fire attacks for quite a while. Also increases the damage of all your other non-fire based attacks for a short while. Recharge: Very Long

+100.00% strength to fire damage for 20.00s on self
    Ignores buffs and enhancements
    unresistable

+80.00% strength to smashing damage for 10.00s on self
    Ignores buffs and enhancements
    unresistable

+80.00% strength to lethal damage for 10.00s on self
    Ignores buffs and enhancements
    unresistable (and so on)
(Which you have to go to the PVP tab to see, PVE it's blank.)

Wiki hasn't been updated either it looks like. Will make the adjustment. Thanks.

    Making a Void

Asking lore-wise, well, yeah, it would be appropriate. (See sig for Kheld backstory.) The Void Hunter mercenaries have modified N-fragments in them (somewhat different ones than the Galaxy troops.)

From recollection, they DO start getting the "call to space" and having to deal with conversion (admittedly I'm rusty on that,) so you could just say your Human-only Warshade version of the Void is just a bit more advanced in that stage.

Wanting to be an "advanced Void hunter," you could get away with a bit. Powers-wise, other than the gun, you'll be matching a Galaxy, though.

Thanks. I'm holding off 'til the I19 stamina change. It'll make fitting things in a lot easier. Don't want to drop taunt or an attack on my tank (or anything I have in pools) for burn just yet. My Fire/EM already has it, though.... just no fighting pool. >.<

Yep. This issue. And yes, it's true for Brutes (and Scrappers) as well - I believe the Blaster version still has it though (seem to recall them running from the patch on my fire/fire.)

Friend of mine was giggling maniacally with her /FA brute when she found out. I was going to do a respec it in to my namesake (and old) Fire/SS, but I'm waiting for I19 to do so.

Market size is generally the reason given. However, the Mac OSX (and Linux, generally) are laid out differently as well. It's not impossible to write a virus for them, you just have to find a way to get it in and have it assign itself the proper permissions without letting the user know.

(Of course, "social engineering" attacks don't care - "click this link, or let me scare you into sending me your credit card information" are playing more on the user than the OS.)

(At least I didn't on mine, as I recall.) I can't see him staying 20 (without turning off XP) starting as a villain and doing two full sets of alignment missions (villain - rogue - hero) without hitting 21 there.

Seems like a long stretch not to have gotten tips, though.
