Is it yet possible to gift points to friends?

Like most of you I have been here since alpha and have never let my VIP status lapse. I remember when we had base raids, COP, and Items of Power. That went kaplooie really quick. I was at the first official COH convention when I asked about bases. They said the same exact words, "We can't say anything about bases, but we are working on it." I have learned to adapt and continue to play the game, but IMHO i think hell will freeze over before ANY base fixes/updates/scenes will ever come about.

One thing I thought would not be to difficult for those of us who love our bases was to get some more/new textures. We can't even get those. I love this game but bases are a lost cause. Again, this is my own opinion.

I do not doubt that there will be individuals coming onto the forum saying the costume contest is fixed. This is for real and any comment to the contrary are immature and in poor taste.

We have held several costume contests on Freedom in AP. If you want to ask the judges themselves what they look for you can send an IM to @ Luna Seras , or , @ShootingStar Gazer.

That's right. On April 1rst, there will be a costume contest held in Atlas Park under Atlas. This is a themed costume contest. The theme is funniest costume. Think April Fools, that is what we are going for.

The winners will get the following prize:

1rst Place - 3 Billion inf.

2nd Place - 2 Billion inf.

3rd Place - 1 Billion inf.

4th & 5th Place - 500 million inf.

Your judges are Luna Seras from Luna's Lunatics and Obsidan Cure from Sugar Coated Suicide, plus one more judge to be used as a tie breaker.

The contest will be held on April 1rst at 8 pm CST (Central Standard Time)

Remember! This is a themed costume contest for the FUNNIEST costume.

As one of the"few", ( I am quite sure that there are actually quite a few of us around. We just all don't post.) who has been here since alpha. I am happy with the reward. To be honest, this game has given me something way more than trinkets, my time with my four 14 year old boys. They and I got our subs when they were six! Yet here they are teens and still play the game frequently with their "old man".

I have no problem with the ques or waiting. What I am finding frustrating is that when I do get to my character selection screen to log in my toon and I click on the Enter button the game will kick me out and say Lost connection to DBserver...

I have sat here and have tried more than 12 times with the same effect. Yes, I know it is the release of a new upgrade and i am trying to get into Freedom. However, if you manage to get in to the que and to the load screen you should be able to get in.

*sigh* I have been with this game since alpha, so this will not deter me either. I just need to be patient.

My Pet Story

I finally had bought my first home with the wife and expecting 4 new boys on the way (quads). Well, we decided to find a dog to give a home, so we looked around and I really wanted a golden retriever, but none of the shelters had one. However, someone told me about Golden Rescue. I googled them for my area and called them.

Long story short. We went looked at all the goldens available for adoption. However, there was one that was hidden in the kennels that I saw that was avoding us and all the golden commotion. We asked about him and found out he was an abused dog that was hung by his tail and beaten with a stick. Well, i approached him and he was very cautious, but did not snarl or give me one of those "leave me alone" looks. As i managed to coaxs(sic) him out with a bacon treat, i noticed his tail for the first time. it was broken and twisted. If you've seen goldens, then you know their tails are beautiful flags. Well,for some reason I cannot explain, I knew this was the dog. Anyways, it took a while to regain trust and with lots of love, he became our 5th child.

Unfortunately, like all good stories, he was ten years old when I woke up on Christmas day and he was gone. Nothing was amiss to tell me or my wife anything was wrong. I cried as I put him in his new doggie bed we had gotten him for christmas as I carried him out to my car to go to the vet. The vet did a necrospy and told us he died from cancer. What was mind blowing was that 1 week prior to his death we just had a doggie physical and he was rated in top health!

Oh, I forgot to mention. I called him Kinkers. Now my 4 twelve year old boys all have a golden as well as I. It took a liitle time, and my new golden (Stitches) is just as precious to me as was Kinkers. He did not take Kinkers place, but filled a hole that has new memories and new love and a stronger bond than ever for my original golden and has made me realize, that there is more for others.

My wife's laptop is about half to a third of my specs and it works *fine* without compat mode or anything else. I've tried 4-5 different compat modes (xp sp2, xp sp3, vista, vista sp, etc)... XPM would probably work as its virtualized but it would still be unplayable, be like running it under vmware or parallels.

Edit: Just tried changing theme down to "windows classic" which gets rid of pretty much everything graphically speaking and rebooted and tried it. No difference.

Any other suggestions? I'm bout to wipe the COH install and reinstall, verify didn't find anything wrong, but maybe something is that it didn't catch.

Ok, I built a machine closer to your specs and used a Nvidia 700 series card and when I would run CoX I too would get your problem. However, when I removed the older vid card and put in a 9800 series then it loaded fine. One of the things I noticed is that the dx call is a v11 and 700 series could not run even the dx 10. I suspect that this is the culprit. I culled through the dll's looking for a dx 9 function call and found none.

May I suggest, if you have another video card try that and retry the game. As to the poster running with a 260 card, I'm stumped there. You should be ok. I to am running Win 7 64 bit ,but i am using the Radeon. I have a 260 laying around, let me see if I can dup your system and problem.

May I also make a suggestion? Two actually.

1. Run the game in compatibiltiy mode.

2. Run it under XPM.

I am testing Win 7 64 bit with CoH and so far, I have had the occasional disconnect, but not the problem your having.

If you have downloaded the Windows 7 RC then it has the XP Pro virtual system that come with it. Run your CoX under that.

There was a thread posted awhile ago about Radeon cards and vertical sync being on in COX. If you shut off the vertical synch it apparently help with the issue of a few monitor problem. Worth a shot.

Some Malware are known to mask themselves a searchprotocolhost.exe, but in this case it is a Microsoft issue.

I have found using a program called Visual Traceroute it provides a graphical traceroute and ping test from this server to any other network device you choose, useful for pinpointing network connectivity problems and identifying IP address locations.

This has shown me that at the servers location it is the router on the servers end that is timing out. This was handy info that I was able to send off to support.

The program is not visible. It is a trustworthy file from Microsoft. It is not a Windows system file. Therefore the technical security rating is 13% dangerous.
Recommended: Identify SearchProtocolHost.exe related errors


Important: Some malware camouflage themselves as SearchProtocolHost.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder. Thus check the SearchProtocolHost.exe process on your pc whether it is pest.

I would also like for the dev's to consider, that when you have to destroy an item that required you to build, that it is not destroyed ora at least you do not have to keep rebuilding the same item again and the cost of it.

As someone already posted, sometimes you have to destroy or delte items to move a room or delete a room.

What I get in the way of rude tells goes something like this: " Wow! you're a 54 month vet? I am sure you have a lot of influence. Can you buy me X, or give me X amount of influence?"

Seriously,who the <bleep> do they think they are? I mean if they applied half the energy they spent from begging for hand outs, they could have had the influence to buy what it is they wanted in the first place!

After reading through all of these post I see this alot! Now come on, think a second all of you who think they should give you "another" free double XP weekend. What in the world do you think would happen if they allow that? Your still going to get the same load problems, and guess what. You'll still be back on here whining about not being able to get in.

I do agree that they should have a wait que for those who want to wait to get in to Freedom for instances like this.
