Monitor shuts down

In the last week or so I have had an issue with my monitor suddenly unable to detect my computer while I am playing. The monitor will go blank and the message "no signal detected" will appear - the computer is still on though. This only happens while playing COH. This has happened at least once a day in the last week. Any help would be appreciated!

It could just be a bug with the reporting of CoH Helper, but it says your max monitor resolution is 1600x1200 and you're running at 1920x1200? Perhaps that could be an issue?

Try bumping down your resolution to 1024x768 and see if anything happens.

While it could be caused by various esoteric problems or failures, this sort of thing can also be caused by bad or loose cables and connectors. Make sure all the monitor's cables are securely attached on both ends, and are not kinked or frayed, that your video card is properly seated and locked into its socket and that the cables aren't putting undue strain on it, and that the power cord for the monitor is firmly in place.

You may also want to try borrowing a video cable from someone else temporarily and swapping it in to make sure that's not the problem.

While you're at it, you may want to carefully clean the gunk and dust out of your computer's case, as overheating causing video card failure is also possible (CoH makes the video card work much harder than many other things). A lot of the US is getting warmer lately, and heat-related failures are on the upswing.

Sounds similar to the computer freeze glitch that happens to me. Are you sure it's just your monitor? Mine just freezes whatever image is on my CoH or, sometimes, makes my monitor go in standby mode. I just manually shutdown and start back up.

I've had 2 different computers go 'No Signal' and both times they were fixed by flashing/restoring the BIOS.

First computer was an AMD, the video card had both VGA and DVI outputs. Either worked fine up until Windows finished loading and went to the login screen. A BIOS update was available and suddenly the DVI output worked. A new BIOS disabled DVI, so I went back the the 2nd one.

Second computer was Intel and had been working fine for months. Its video card had 2 DVI outputs. The monitor displayed normally through the POST and Windows loading screens, but then 'No Signal' once it went to Windows and its login screen. When I overclocked this computer, I used the built-in BIOS backup feature. I restored the backup that should have been identical to the current settings, so there shouldn't have been any changes, but everything has been fine ever since.

It might be as simple as resetting your CMOS or BIOS. I really don't recommend poking around with the BIOS if you're not sure about it. There were a couple of times I thought I'd really pooched those machines, but I was prepared for the worse and got lucky and learned a bit in the process.

Good luck
Jer

Hi, thanks all for responding. I did try resetting my monitor resolution and have not had the problem since then ( a few days). I am hoping that fixed it.

I am having a similar issue except my monitor just goes into a standby mode. I have also had a couple of instances of my Video card needing to use the vpu recovery. I am already running in 1024, 768.

thanks for any assistance
The old video drivers is so WoW could be run in this system too, for some reason the newer drivers were disabling the direct draw 3d.

There was a thread posted awhile ago about Radeon cards and vertical sync being on in COX. If you shut off the vertical synch it apparently help with the issue of a few monitor problem. Worth a shot.

Thank you I will give that a shot.
I feel like an idiot now I totally forgot about Vsync.

**EDIT**
Thanks again MedEvac seems like so far so good ran for quite a while last night w/o issue. Hopefully this keeps up.
