Thread Title: The Markets Merged?
/GMOTD:
*The Auction House markets for Heroes and Villains will become ONE.
"To find out more details and explanation of the upcoming changes, please visit the Developers Corner..."
Regardless if the first two listed are worded to imply they in effect now, they don't work, and based on the last line of the /gmotd, they shouldn't be assumed to be in the game already. That gmotd was added the day before this patch anyway. If it were in the patch, it would likely have come afterward.
To me, the first two on the /gmotd list looks like internal patch notes they will copy/paste once it goes live... which is why they are worded that way.
Not to mention... if somebody was THAT curious about the announcement, they could follow the instructions on the announcement itself and visit the Developers Corner on the forum and find that the full version of the same announcement starts with:
Quote:Hey everyone,
I know you’ve been asking for some new Going Rogue information, and I’ve got some exciting news that I’d like to share with all of you.
I'll admit.. the /gmotd was taken out of context and can easily be misinterpreted if somebody just reads the list in the middle, which is why Dumple and I felt the need to put emphasis on the last line. -
Quote:In an earlier thread, we were discussing that as well. We found the results to be kinda iffy. Even if you saved an option file to try to get the number of the color you want to use in your command, it was coming up with different results. Apparently the game reads the number in the file differently than it reads the number in that command... so we settled it was easier to use the option-file technique instead. That way was quicker, easier, and more predictable. There is an option /option_set ChatBubbleColor1 and -2, I thought would have done what was requested.
I tried setting it to different values, and they are accepted as such, but no matter what value I give it set the colour to black.
Does anyone know if this function also isn't working, or am I just doing something wrong. -
Quote:I just did some quick web searches and didn't come up with a direct answer. I then tried messing with the registry option myself (*not recommended*).. only to now make the Updater freeze when I click a link. I don't even think I'm close. I've got to be missing an extra command somewhere... but I'm assuming I'm in the right place. lolNow, not to leave you without a fix for what you want now, it is possible to force Microsoft Windows to direct all calls made to explorer.exe's browser mode to another existing browser, such as FireFox, Opera, Chrome, Safari, or Konqueror.
As to how to do that, I'm not sure I could give you accurate instructions. -
This has been brought up many times. I don't think it's impossible, but it'd have to be rebuilt to do so.
In the meantime, I suggest saving this bookmark:
http://www.cityofheroes.com/updater/live.html
That will allow you open the updater's page on your default browser and visit the links without having to use IE. -
Quote:Yeah I was out for the count too. I got Mapserved to the login screen around the same time, and I kept getting a DB server error every time I tried logging back into Freedom. Finally I tried another server and got right in. Trying Freedom a few minutes later still wouldn't let me on, but a few more attempts and I was back in only to find the TF was already completed...Sorry for the DC gang, internet crashed with 62 left on the kill count and didn't come back up for 20 minutes. It sounds like Freedom spazzed out as well, but I'm glad to hear you finished.
No biggie.. it was a blast anyway. See everybody next time! -
In mine, I slotted the Perfect Zinger Change for Psi Damage proc (I love it, but it's no longer possible), the Buildup proc from a tohit IO set (turns out to be practically worthless), then all defense.

Quote:This is what I have recommended to people in the past as well, but to expand on that.. after you make the custom option files, you can edit the custom option file to exclude everything except for the chat bubbles. That way it wont screw around with any of your other settings.Since they broke the ability to color speech bubbles via binds a few issues back, the only way I can think of would be to have 3 seperate options files, each exactly the same except for the section where you set the window colors.
You would need to use /optionsavefile yellow.txt for the yellow & white bubble, and then bind whatever key you want to make your speech bubble that color as /bind <KEY> optionloadfile yellow.txt
Every time you pressed one of the bound keys, it would reload your Options settings, and should only change your speech bubble color.
Of course, if you make any changes to your options, you'll have to re-save each file so that they'll load your changes...
The previous thread was doing something similar, where the user wanted to press a key to change to a different costume and change the default bubble color at the same time. Once the "change personality" key is pressed, you can just chat normally using that color, then press the other personality key to change back. -
Quote:To be honest, I never even noticed any patch this morning. Then again, I probably had my head in the forum and wouldn't have seen it if it was fast. What in the name of Odin's Beard is going on? Methinks perhaps a patch was not as well integrated as 'twas assumed to be, mmm?
On a side note, the Server Status page makes me think the current downtime was already planned, so I don't know when the first patch would have happened.. unless they updated the page again after any downtime this morning. I didn't log on until 10am Eastern anyway, so I didn't notice that either. haha
Quote:Live Server Downtime - Wednesday, June 23rd 2010
The North American Live Servers will be offline for a maintenance on Wednesday, 23rd June 2010.
Start Time: 8AM Pacific Time (11AM Eastern Time)
Expected Duration: 2 hours
Expected Finish Time: 10AM Pacific Time (1PM Eastern Time)
Patch notes will be available after this downtime.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience! -
Quote:Well servers are going down for maintenance, so you're happiness is short lived. Glad you got it working though. See you back in a couple hours! (well, I'll be at work, but have fun for me! lol)The third time worked for me. Ran updater it fixed itself. I verified all files. I was able to log in. I trying to log in again now. Looks promising, it did not patch or verify/fix any files.
And it worked. Looks like all is good. Two different servers and no issues.

I believe that was an announcement regarding a change for GR, not that it's currently possible.
Type /gmotd to re-read it. I seemed like those changes regarding e-mail and the market are upcoming changes. -
As long as the three of them are slotted into the same power, the bonus should be listed at the bottom of your /info_self > Powers tab as Set Bonus: "Large Accuracy Bonus". You can also see this bonus in your Powers > Combat Attributes > Base > Accuracy Bonus. A 9% bonus will be +0.09x
I don't see it slotted on the toon I thought I had it on, so I can't confirm if it is working or not. All Ii can suggest for now is to make sure you are not EX'd and double-check the above two places for the bonus to be listed. -
Quote:Click on Powers, then on Combat Attributes to open another window full of many other details. If you craft a Power Analyzer MK power, you can even view those stats for foes.i'm a real stat hound and really like juggling the possibilities between certain scenarios, and this game seems VASTLY superior to WoW in that regard considering the almost limiteless talent combinations.
i just really want to dig into the mechanics of this game. maybe there's something out there and i'm not finding it.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
As others have mentioned, HeroStats can roughly keep track of your DPS and Inf-per second, and other stats as well.
On a side note, I've never really been a fan of user-created add-on stuff. You never know when somebody is going to trick you with a keylogger. IIRC, WoW has had many problems with that sort of thing, forcing them to take extra steps for account security.. something that everybody should be concerned about, but shouldn't have to go through the measures they have available. The only reason I use and recommend HeroStats is because it was out for a while and had the public green light before I even started. -
Update:
The zone is back up and working normally.
I'm not sure when it happened exactly. I was on another toon for a while. -
Quote:I never said that adding such a feature would be a bad thing. I just said that the existing commands shouldn't be changed. There are separate commands for a reason, and they each work just fine. If you want a new command that acts as a combination of both, I'd support your cause and gladly give it a try.I'm not going to say I don't want the game to play the same way it did before. But I am also not going to say it would hurt. If everyone hasn't tried something that doesn't make it bad, try it and then say it's bad is all I ask.
I understood you from the beginning. All I was saying was that it is working as designed and some people were getting the commands confused in their explanations. -
Same here. I was verifying badges and I got to one character who was in FF according to the Character Select screen, and I ended up having to forcibly close the client.
Now, whenever I attempt to log back into that character, it tells me my account is already logged in, and that character is still logging out.
To answer your question.. this type of thing has happened before. Typically it means that specific zone has encountered a problem and needs to be reset before we can access those characters again. It usually does not take long for it to reset, but if it goes beyond an hour, I usually send a /petition from a different character to notify them of the problem and have them manually move my character to another zone for me so I can access it again in the meantime.
For now, just make sure you don't attempt to bring any more characters there or they will get stuck also. -
By the time my team got to Perez park, Kraken was already dead. Lusca went down the fastest I have ever seen. It was great timing with the Clockwork Activity, but because of the long wait for it to end, we just missed out on the Ghost Ship. I was surprised to find that Jurassik, Adamastor, and Babbage weren't hanging around somewhere. Even the Croatoa Duo were absent. It was nice to pick up an extra 2 merits from the Paladin, but I was also surprised there was only one there. I was expecting there to be 2 of them.
In all, it was still a fun night, but I didn't stick around for the respec either. Most of my team was just there for the GMs, and because of the lack of monsters showing their faces, we didn't feel like dealing with the reactor room's 30 minute wait-game either. lol
I'm glad people had a good time. I know some people joked about running a Hami raid. I wouldn't mind doing one, but I don't think I'm really qualified to lead one. I know how it works, and I know my role when I'm part of one, but I've really only done a few of them. It's not out of the realm of possibility for the future though. Maybe somebody who has done more can set up some of the /request binds to keep people organized. lol
See you all next week for the Justin TF! -
Quote:ROFL I like it.. and yes. She is as tall as you can make a female, and she carries an Axe:The obligatory catgirl, I take it?
I have one myself.
Also, a friend has a toon named 'Obligatory Catgirl'.
I used the Roman armor because most of her post-50 career was spent on the ITF until I finally got bored with it. I did it enough times to earn Leader anyway. lol -
-
Quote:TY TY. That's the info I was waiting for. Now I can finally re-verify everybody.there was a problem with those badges that have male/female types not being verified which has now been sorted.
Edit:
And everything seems to be functioning just fine for me again as well.
My badge total was only showing verified badges, regardless if I added the Gendered names manually, but now everything is updating normally again.
Nice work! -

Quote:It doesn't happen frequently.. I lost access a few weeks ago and have not been able to pull it up since. It's been one long span of time.Save the ones you use a lot; inability to access that site seems to happen frequently for you.
First I thought the site was down for maintenance. Then I thought they closed. If I can ever pull it up, I'll save a few, but I even deleted my bookmarks for the site last week.
But since you guys seem to be able to visit the site just fine, I have no clue what the problem could be now. I've tried both my browsers on both my computers. I've tried different times of day. Still nothing at all. It's as if the site does not exist. I even tried to pull up an archive on the "Wayback Machine", and got a "Data Retrieval Failure." I just don't get it. lol -
Quote:I'd put in my image of a Smiley eating popcorn again, but I still can't access www.freesmileys.org anymore. Did the site close? lolQuote:Try and find it elsewhere, then host it yourself. I can get there; in fact, gimme a minute.
I'd simply save and host it myself, but there is a handful of smileys I used on a regular basis, as well as the random search for other funny ones. -
Gratz! Any particular task that dinged you?
On a side note, I got my secondary badge toon (Teal Tabby) to 750 yesterday as well. She only really has 742 legitimate badges, but running the Katie TF with all the extra "# Times the Victor" badges put her over the edge. haha. I didn't start badge hunting on her until this past Halloween event though, so I still have a handful of dayjobs/accolades to finish off yet though.
