My approach is now, and will continue to be: Petition the person, then ignore it and get on with opening cans of whatsits (not that I open cans of whatsits very often - I'm too busy running away like a scared little girlie man all the time apparently)
[/ QUOTE ]
I thought whatsits came in bags. -

Not sure how to put this but something i've noticed is that COV seems a bit i dunno, stale or clinical to me. Kind of difficult to explain, COH just seems to have way more atmosphere. Its kinda like when all those doom clones came out, the bad ones maye had everything doom had, but they lacked atmosphere.
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe its cos CoH has alot of areas where you run into other people. The stations for one, Atlas plaza of course, the area in the Hollows by the Atlas gate, the grass out side portal corps in PI, center of Talos, the list goes on. There are often people hanging around these areas where are these areas in the CoV world? This makes people feel more detacted and as you say makes CoV feel....I dunno, detacted. Even in a team I sometimes get the impression we are the only peeps about. Maybe this was the feel they were going for, less social more every man for himself in a backstabing villainous world.

Hmm Yeah, that could be it, really good point there, I'll have to remember that one -
Never heard of it. Took a quick look though and it seems ok. I like reading about "gaming systems" though
-
I cant speak for the OP but I'm doing it so i can reach my missions quicker before getting a travel power. If it's good, I'll keep it that way, if not, I'll take a travel power then respec later.

whatdo you think is faster. a 3 slotted quickness or a 3 slotted sprint?
[/ QUOTE ]
You could copy over to the test server after I7, use your free respec (we are getting those yeah?) and try it both ways.
BTW. I'm trying something similar with an elec/elec brute on the test server, slotting sprint, swift and lightning reflexes. So far I have sprint and swift 2 slotted, its not SS, but its blazing fast for a lvl 7. -
Not that I know of. I asked him how he pulled it off, he said he didnt know.
-
Can someone tell me how this can happen?
Today I switch to my anti-stalker toon (blaster) after my defender gets 1-shotted. I'm attacking a corruptor and get AS'd outta nowhere, one shotted and couldnt see anything even with +2 perception. I check the corruptor and stalkers powers, no invis or grant invis in sight. If I go out my way to build an anti stalker toon which gets taken out so easily by 1 single stalker, then something has gone horribly wrong. -
Liking the electric brutes on test, I dont like the red lightning though. Does anyone else think it should be blue? Even white would be quite good.

Here's another thought for you. Once the 'going rogue' system is in place and we have stalkers on both sides of the wall, will we see the same complaints about certain 'uber' builds once they are available to all?
[/ QUOTE ]
Been thinking about the effect hero stalkers will have on the game, even thinking of building a hero anti-stalker out of a stalker, if that makes sense :S
I know one villian player who said he wouldnt play his dominator if I came into the zone with a hero stalker. -

It depends on the stalker, some stalker powersets have perception powers, SR and Ninjitsu if i remember correctly. You could have a lot of fun spooking the other sets though
-
Other than the gloating and corpse dancing I cant say I see much wrong here. What you have to remember is that if there were more heroes than villains then the villains would be getting "ganked" (and I dont even see any problem with ganking when it refers to using your advantage of numbers).
What really impresses me though are opponents who stick around when severely outnumbered. Then when the tide turns I feel obliged to stick around through the hard times and give THEM someone to play against. -
Try putting your powersets in your search string or whatever it is (eg. empath/elec). I do this anyway so people know what they are getting. Also set the search status thing to "looking for mission team" so you appear closer to the top of the list. Or you could build your own team
Sounds like you just got unlucky, I've had teams about 10 levels higher than me ask my empath to come along. -

If you're only scanning it, or expect people to use those funny squiggles called question marks, then it was easy to miss as a question
[/ QUOTE ]
I admit it was easy to miss the question, not sure it gives anyone a licence to make other people feel bad though. There are lots of posts I can hardly make sense out of and could easily rip them apart if I wanted to act like a muppet. -

I don't have first hand experience with psi blast. However it is good when coupled with rad primary, rad/psi are pretty good in PvP and probably one of the best offensive defenders in duals. One of the main problems of psi blast however are the painfully long animation times. You should really note that defender damage is painfully low, but with psi's lessly resisted damage and rad debuffs it "could" be viable, just don't expect 3shotting squishies.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, played defenders before, just wondered if psi being less resisted would make up for the pants damage. -
[ QUOTE ]
Err, thanks for telling us....

[censored]?
Heres the question from my OP again seeing as you seem to have missed it.
[ QUOTE ]
anyone got any experience of psychic defenders in pvp
[/ QUOTE ] -
Seeing as psionic damage is the least resisted and defenders are the only ones who can get psychic blast, anyone got any experience of psychic defenders in pvp. I dont plan on making one, least not for a long time anyway, but i can imagine it going well with rad or dark.

How about to hit buff and acc enhancements?
Surely both would be the same thing. I dont know which one to slot. -

guess my secondary, I take one power from the set (aside from hide)
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmmmm, interesting. I've been toying around with a stalker build set up for working as part of a very supporting pair. It meant cutting very far back on the secondaries though, in favour of a bunch of other stuff. Bascially the pair would set up targets, buff each other with invis, hit target & get out. Another set up would be alternating targets, one making the hit, & then getting an evac, zapped out again by the other. There's a coupl of other things I chuked in for mutual support, but it was all so low on the secondary set I just stared at it all for hours & thought "This is madness!". However, worked & deployed properly with an identical build in a pair I'm pretty sure you'd be racking up far more kills than the actual take downs you'd suffer back again.
I don't know though, what is your secondary?
[/ QUOTE ]
Been thinking of respecing ghostblade into a more team friendly stalker, basically taking recal friend to pull out team mates and grant invis for the stealth cap. Problem is i can see myself sitting in a hideyhole recalling and GI'ing every 2 minutes. -

I am led to believe that fear is the only mez-type that no Stalker type can resist - is this true?
If it is, I'm sceptical as to how well it would work, I've used it a few times and seen it hit, but the villain has still been able to move away and attack with no apparent ill effects.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ninja have a clicky fear resist (i believe there weakness is knockback).
I've seen some odd thing happen with fear where I could actually move while having fear on my blaster. The effect is so short I've never really had any time to figure out whats going on. -
[ QUOTE ]
dunno what your secondary is, but if its /nrg, just put bonesmasher on auto and wait till the stalker gets near.. you'll be able to hit him with BS before he activates placate.
[/ QUOTE ]
Dunno if that was for me or the OP as I was going to give the OP the same advice
In general that would work, but probably not in the example stalk gave a few posts back, I would have to test it to be sure. BTW, my secondary is dev, obviously taken for the +perception so I can see stalkers from a whopping 10ft away. -

[ QUOTE ]
Stryka and Mr not so nice eat /Dev /SR /DA for breakfast, we are on the speed cap and have invis friend so no one can see us untill a hit is made and by then we are miles away and target is dead (well SR has a good chance of living).
Tactic is this, no one can see us (literally, we dont go within 10 ft) we run at a pre determined target with our best strike preloaded and jump at last minute, we fly over caltrops and PBAOEs dont have time to hit us, due to our speed the animation root doesnt affect us untill we are WELL past the heros. Then its run, reapply invis and pick next target.
I admit I stole this from some friends on the US servers who were literally the best stalkers I have come acrossI know this is showing stalker kill tactics but I cannot think of a strategy to counter this tactic, I would be interested if anyone can come up with a decent one
[/ QUOTE ]
only u can't get the flyers tho bottyeven your 3 slotted cj + hurdle cant reach us
and considering u both have energy as primary
and with the mines stoof, trops + mines (maxed at 15) + tp foe when we see u and bOOMZ0RZ!
problem is tho, if alot of peeps (and lets face it there will be) keep doing what u do, people are just not gonna want to play in pvp as theres nothing we can do against it if on floor etc...just removes all the fun at all
[/ QUOTE ]
The way I'd get around this is to stand on a smaller piece of raised scenery, buildings and towers. No doubt there is an equally lethal stalker strategy which can be used there. Anyway, I'm kind of hoping it will become the norm and will put people off the zones, I know i havent been in for a while except as a stalker. 90% of my time in the zones is spent hunting stalkers (the other 10% playing a stalker). I do this partly because I cant really use my defender in the zones, and partly to get an idea of how balanced the game is. My logic is that if I cant create the rock to the stalker scissors then something has gone wrong. So far I've come to realise that stalkers CAN be played in such a way to make themselves unhuntable. That leaves baiting and reactive kills, the rest of the time, stalkers not at the stealth cap, best make good use of it, but be aware you could be geting baited. -
[ QUOTE ]
i made a nice bind that toggles between stealth and invis and takes all of 3 seconds to hit BU+bind+AS.
and what the guy said is pretty much right as i've tried it myself so you've got 3 seconds to move or die.
[/ QUOTE ]
By they guy i assume you mean the guy i quote in the OP. I didnt think switching between invis/stealth would be a huge chore, although I may have misread ur post. -
Problem is the stealth and perception caps. 10ft perception renders a proactive stalker hunter next to useless.
-
You say you have a dark/regen scrapper at lvl 50. Maybe one of the new dark/* stalkers would suit you.
