  1. I would shell out loads of extra money for a pug pet. I played a certain other MMO a little just because a friend insisted I try it out. I had no interest in continuing until I saw the pug pet. It's awesome. Perfect animations for it too.

    We need a Pug.
  2. It's easy to solo a GM. Just petition a problem with a strange subject line like "Stuck. Cave will is broken for lost attacker." And then once they show up and ask what the problem is continue to use broken English that doesn't actually make any sense. Eventually the GM will just give up and complete your mission for you even if nothing is wrong.

Oh, you were talking about Giant Monsters...

    Never mind.
  3. I'm not really seeing anything that stands out. Do you have the nclauncher set to shut down after launching?
  4. Love the show. And it has also potentially resulted in one of the greatest nightmares ever visited on mankind. They are doing an American remake.

The Being Human remake was good (though not as good as the original) so remakes can be done well.

But I can't see Misfits being done well because they will reduce it to a g rated or at best pg rated show.
  5. Run these two programs and post the results here. What they do is show us which drivers you are using, which in game settings, which currently installed programs (some of which might cause conflict) and which system updates you have.

    CoHHelper and Hijackthis
  6. GPU is the only quick fix. The only thing other than that which would see significant improvement is a new GPU+New Motherboard+New Processor+New Ram.

I had to do the same thing to improve my system. Fortunately there were enough good sales going on that I was able to do it relatively cheaply.
  7. There should definitely be some pressure involved but just enough to keep it evenly and firmly seated.

Also the layer of thermal paste should be very thin. Basically all it is supposed to do is fill in the micro pits the two surfaces. It should be more of a film than a coating. If you use too much it acts as an insulator rather than a conductor.

I feel oh so sorry for you. The fact that you don't recognize that as a quote means you haven't seen or don't remember Freakazoid.

Go forth and find a copy of the series now.
  9. Loved seeng the New Gods on YJ. It's great how they keep bringing in obscure but awesome characters.

    To quote the mirror.

"You are the fairest. But there is another destined to surpass you."

So the mirror is foreseeing a time when Kristin will get plastic surgery... or maybe when she is 60 and Charlize is 75.
  11. Forgot to mention. The latest episode had an Embalmed Cadaver.

Well, a zombie with a bomb strapped to it at any rate.
  12. Avatar had great 3d in that it made the characters seem more real. I was surprised when I heard people talking about how "cartoony" it looked because it had looked highly realistic to me when I saw it in 3d. Then I watched it again when it came out on cable and I thought I was watching Shrek. The 3d really does make all the difference in that movie which is why I would have to say it's the best "use" of 3d.

I really liked the 3d in Up.

Now I'm definitely going to have to see H&K in 3d though if they make full use of and fun of the gimmick.
  13. I stumbled across this series when I was listening to a podcast and they mentioned it. I'm not surprised I hadn't heard about it since it's on MTV and I have pretty much zero interest in their programming.

Death Valley is great though. It's a police department in San Fernando Valley. There is an outbreak of zombies in the valley. The series is basically a combination of several premises put together in a hilarious way.

I would describe it as Reno 911 (the department is a collection of losers oddballs much like the Reno crew)

Buffy (There are Vampires and Werewolves and other baddies)

    Walking Dead (zombies are everywhere)

You know, describing it doesn't do it justice. Just go watch it. You can catch all the episodes on mtv.com.
  14. Grimm is one of those shows where the supporting characters are much more interesting and have much more personality than the main character. I like it so far but I hope that Grimm gets the hang of his character the way that SMG got the hang of Buffy.

OUT on the other hand I'm iffy about. The show itself is pretty good but I hate the kid so that balances it out.

This is correct. The "in game" support mentioned is referring to the GMs who show up and ask what the problem is and how they can help you.
  16. My guess at the problem is that he keeps trying to change his costume colors in the tailor but the changes don't stick.

Or else he keeps clicking on the tram door he came out of and it won't let him back in.
  17. Awesome to hear. Now I'm jealous. Your post made me pay attention to my own fps and I've seen that it does take a huge hit in Atlas. I've dropped as low as 20fps occasionally.

Time for a new GPU I guess.

I'm addicted to upgrading. If only it weren't such an expensive addiction.
  18. If you have been using the same modem for 7 years then it's not surprising that it may be failing. Technology does have its limits. If the modem was supplied by your service provider then call them and let them know that it has started shutting down and requiring reboot after any prolonged use. They likely won't hesitate to replace it since it's 7 years old.

So I guess that means that pretty soon Carol is going to shoot someone to get Sophia back? I'm guessing it will be Shane (since he's the really annoying guy right now) and Maggie (since she's the romantic interest of the nerdy shy guy).
  20. The problem is that CoH is a lot more sensitive to lost packets than any other game I know of. It only takes a second or so of lost transmission to cause the game to freeze for a long period then report a mapserver problem. Most other games will take this in stride and simply update your character information if you manage to reconnect after a few seconds.

CoH actually used to do this itself. You could get a period of disconnection lasting several seconds and be frozen in place unable to do anything, then when the connection was reestablished the game would continue. In the past couple of years though this has changed to the much more annoying mapserve after a second of lost connection.

You may actually be losing connection on other games and web pages but as I said before, they will adapt to the loss. You may notice things jump around suddenly in another game or it may take a little longer to get to a web page but that one second loss isn't stretched out to a 30 second freeze before you drop to a login screen like CoH does so it wouldn't be as noticeable.

First thing to do is see how stable your connection actually is in game. While playing type "/netgraph 1" without the quotes. In the lower right of your screen you will see lines that are either colored green, yellow, or red. Short green lines are optimal. That means good connection and short ping times with no lost packets. I expect that with the number of hops away you are that you will likely be seeing tall green lines. Red lines are lost packets. If you are seeing red or even yellow lines then your connection is bad and we will have to find out where it is bad. To turn the netgraph off type "/netgraph 0" without the quotes.

Steps you can take. If your connection to your router is wireless then try running a cable and seeing if you still have the problem. If you don't have the problem using a cable then the problem is that you aren't getting a strong enough wifi signal.

If you experience the lost connection while using a cable then try removing your router from the equation. Plug the cable from your computer directly into the modem. If you don't lose connection when connected directly to the modem then your router is probably going bad. It happens.

If you do still lose connection when plugged directly into the modem then the problem is either with the modem or your service provider. Contact your service provider and let them know that you keep losing connection. They will probably run a remote diagnostic on the modem. If none of this helps then post back with a report and maybe I can think of something else to try.

Nope. Maximum temp for that card is 105c. Nvidia cards always run hot and CoH pushes them harder than most games thanks to using opengl instead of directx. 86 is well within the safe zone.
  22. YJ was great except I really get tired of the "It was all a dream" cliche.

And it was cool to see Mazing Man.

Great to see Frank Lapidis too. Not to mention Trinity. Chuck gets great guest stars.

On the other hand I have come to hate Morgan. I know it's the malfunctioning intersect but I actually found myself hoping that somebody would kill him this episode and that his death would be something the team had to deal with. I'm considering not watching any more episodes till Morgan is back to normal. He grates on me just like Pulaski did on STTNG.
  24. The reason you didn't get any first place votes is because different people like different things. And some people are just plain idiots. I've seen fantastic costumes with great attention to color balance and pieces used. And I've seen them lose to someone with a nearly exact duplicate of iron man. A guy with dark glasses, a leather jacket and blue jeans. And a girl in a bikini with chest slider maxxed.

It's certainly understandable that the networks wouldn't listen to this.

Moonlighting: Big hit and fans wanted to see David and Maddie get together. Until they got together and the ratings tanked.

X-Files: Mulder and Scully get together, ratings tank.

Lois and Clark: Get married? Sorry, last season.

    Northern Exposure: Joel and Maggie

    Get Smart: Max and 99

Now admittedly most of these cases were due to the writing becoming so terrible in that final season but that's not how the networks are going to see it. For the executives correlation does equal causation. Create a happy couple and lose the relationship tension and the show will fail.

But in some ways they have a point. The couple getting together and their lives becoming better pretty much equals the "Happy Ending". The key word there being ending. And the shows after that point just wind up feeling like filler and money grubbing.
