    COH cyber monday

While I'm happy for the implementation of the cyber sale, I still have reservations about what more could've been done with this.
  2. While I'm happy to see a Cyber sale for 'some' of these packs for CoH, as well as the Best Buy deal, I have to admit, there are several 'fail' issues with this (yo, Black Pebble and Sales Department, take note):
    • Why must Leandro and those outside North America and Europe suffer with the stupidity of NOT having access to these sales?
    • With all the hoopla over the (in my opinion, as with many forumites) ridiculous pricing of the Party Pack, WHY wasn't this added to a 50% off sale? MOST ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS STATED IF YOU DROPPED IT DOWN BY 50% OR SO, A LARGER MAJORITY OF THE FOLKS WOULD'VE BOUGHT IT! *Epic Fail on opportunity to get others to buy Party Pack and redeem yourselves (talking to you, marketing/sales) over this*
    • Ninja Pack. C'mon. It's popular. Those that don't have it are sure to want it if they had a better value incentive. Not even 15-25% off?
    • Gifting. Why, to this day, is it that you can't 'gift' a pack or an expansion to a fellow player via global name from the NCSoft Store? There are over a dozen people in my SGs/VGs that I would LOVE to gift some of these packs to, but alas, denied. I guess you don't like our money...
    • Why don't you have an "All Origins" Combined Booster Pack Value Deal? Combine all the Origin-based Super Booster Packs with the recent Origins aura/cape pack, tally it up, take off 10-20%. New players could do one-stop shopping by getting them all in one fell swoop (what a great Christmas/Holiday present, especially if there was a 'gift' option with the NCSoft Store!). Maybe throw in a free/special 30 day Holiday (Winter Event) Jet Pack for incentive?
Here we are once again, another holiday season, with a tumultuous economy in play and less money for people to spend, yet I read online here that others are willing to spend their hard earned dollar for some of these items if a better value is applied, yet the Sales Department's common sense and archaic online purchasing options seem to incite the continued discouragement of its customers.

Take a hint, sales/marketing. You could've knocked the ball outta the park on this one.
  3. First Mighty Avengers now this; loving the hero animated series kickin in!

Thanks for the heads up, ShoNuff!
  4. Sadly, this is expected news.

Nonetheless, still gives me time to get my 50s set up for Issue 19!

That must be my evil clone, Dark Deej! He says EXACTLY the opposite of what is true!

Don't fret, Michelle; there's always one kid in the classroom that has to be the a$%^$@ of the universe to get attention; in this case, that would be the moron who posted that.

If it means anything, your efforts are greatly appreciated by the Major Deej household! The family each gives you 4 out of 4 stars on this one!
  7. Once again, Bravo to you, Michelle!

Exceptionally done; great pacing, choice music, magnificent imagery reveals, and exquisite segments especially the epic view looking up from the water at Cole and Richter (did I miss any adjectives?)!!

    Take a bow, Michelle!

  8. Due to work, I missed out on Freedom's Tanker Tuesday last night.

I definately intend to show up for this one! I have a couple of tanks on Pinnacle that need some Tanker Tuesday attention!

    Count me in.

    Oh SNAP!
  10. Sheck and fellow posters,

As a 20 year (retired) military vet, I greatly appreciate what has been written here.

One of my edicts I held dear to me is a line stated by one of our founding fathers, John Adams, who stated, "I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy".

As a father of two, I am proud to say that both my sons are now exercising their ability to attend college in fields they are interested in, earning degrees in digital film production/directing and computer programming.

Sometime before I pass on, I'm sure my and other fellow submariner's exploits will be told to all of what all we really did during the cold war, but in the meantime, I am happy to say that we did what we could at the time to ensure that the American dream still has a chance, and that our sons, daughters, family and friends will continue to carry on a legacy of what America is about.

Your post(s) warm my heart to know that we are appreciated for our time and sacrifices.

I wish for a speedy return to all our current active duty personnel overseas (especially our fellow CoHers on active duty and in the reserves serving 'over there' at the moment) and hope that I will be able to raise a glass with them soon on this same day each year to mark their dedication and commitment that they have provided for all of us to carry out out daily lives.

Thank you all, and thank you fellow CoH posters for taking the time this day to recognize those who've served.

    *salute*
  11. Gotta admit, we had fun!

We mixed it up on Guardian, Freedom and Pinnacle between me and my SG/VG mates.

On Guardian, Friday night with the Challengers SG, we did a variety of zone invasion hops to get the accolades for mains/alts for our SG members, did a few RWZ mishes and RWZ street sweeping while awaiting for zone invasions.

On Freedom, Saturday night, we had a coalition event "Arachnos vs Ritki" (hosted by Legion, Champions and Knights of Arachnos VGs) with several VGs participating throughout the day/evening for several hours, where we did the same as on Guardian, but also did Ritki Story arcs, a LGTF and a Ritki AE mish. We could not, however, get enough at the right time to take out Drop Ships. It was a high speed, rollercoaster of activity where everyone said at the end, "WOW! What a ride!".

On Sunday, to celebrate the Russian October Revolution anniversary, the Soviet-themed Red Guard VG on Pinnacle took to the streets and street swept RWZ, jumped to various zone invasions, and also did a Ritki AE Mish.

New members had a blast! Returning members forgot how crazy the drop ship bombings were! Veteran players found a new level of excitement in what is constured by otehrs to be a rehashed invasion event. SG/VG-wise, we had a great time teaming up together to do some consolidated fun!

Sorry to hear that others here didn't quite enjoy the event, but it is what you make of it.

If you go into this event with "been there done that, don't care", instead of "what can I do differently or creatively to make this more fun or worthwhile not only for me but for others",you'll get highly varying results.

Challenge yourself to find a way to take an event you consider bland and use the gray matter between one's ears to twist the facade of the event with new creative ideas as tools. Some in other SGs/VGs on this post did that, and I'm impressed with their efforts, just as I was happy to see my SG/VG mates enjoying our take on this particular invasion.

Dare yourself to be creative; you might surprise yourself!

Thanks devs and OCR team for an invigorating Ritki weekend!

    ...so...about Issue 19 release date....when?

    NOW?

    No?

    Ok, how about NOW?

    Still no?

Well what about....*drones on into the ether*
  12. I gotta agree with most all here; the pack is quite well done.

I've applied the pack's contents to (now) 20 of my characters, and the list is growing.

Only complaint: the cape with the wrenches on it?

Even though I am an engineer IRL (and loves me my wrenches)....

please, devs/art team, REMOVE the wrenches!

    Thanks!
  13. To reiterate: For the cape with the 'wrenches' on them....

    Get rid of the wrenches.

    That is all.
  14. Congrats, @Zaphir!

I'll give this one a play once I get home tonight (always looking for inspiration)!
  15. Although I got mine as a prize at the Halloween Ball CC, I must admit, I like it.

I was reluctant to like the pack due to the lack of additional material, but I have placed new capes and auras on 15 of my characters thusfar, making the characters even better than ever (Atomic body aura or Atomic-Man, for example!).

If you were sitting on the fence about getting this before, and you are looking to find one or more of those capes/auras to complete a theme or look, it is worth it to pick this up.

Thanks to the team that brought us this pack; well done!
  16. I'm sorry I missed out with my favorite Tanker Tuesday with my "Captain Battleship" character once again.

If it's not work travel, or a busted personal travel laptop with CoH loaded on it, then it's elections.

Waited in line for 1 1/2 hours right up until poll closing to get my votes in; by the time I got home and loaded the patch, the wall was empty of tankers.

    Hope everyone had fun!

The focus for these ideas should be SG based. For example, some sort of SG granted power similar to the alignment powers, with the caveat that it stacks from multiple casters, thus it would be best used in an SG group. Or how about an SG pet temp that upgrades with multiple applications similar to the way masterminds upgrade their own minions?

The idea here is to encourage SG play by leveraging SG mechanics even while tackling existing content. Temp powers are an easy way to start thinking about this, and recipies could be relatively easily added to the existing crafting stations.
Agreed, and I truly hope that the newer, unique ideas generated can and will be implemented in lieu of compromised quick add-ons.

I imagine that we all in our little community have quite a distinctive imagination and, from what I've read on related topics in these forums, an equally sound judgement as to the types of items and content the bases need.

I'm more than willing to give a concerted effort in discussion and ideas for our small community as so many have thusfar.

So, as Shadestorm asked and to keep the ball rolling, anyone else got any ideas for fun stuff that could be added to existing functions to promote SG play?
  18. Yay! A badge image and another AE exploit get fixed!

When can we see the tech Teleporter Beacon images for Pocket D and Grandville get fixed? Hmmm?
  19. for tl;dr version, see bottom of post.

I'm in agreement with most all here that bases/supergroups have not received their fair share of focus of late.

I empathize with the PvP crowd in this respect too. We are both smaller factions of the overall community and continue to receive little to no support on requested features/changes.

As such I understand they, Paragon Studios, are a business, and as such, require a focus to what the majority needs. We, sadly, are not the majority.

If I were to equate our CoH community to the likes of New York City, the PvE demands/needs total a majority of the well-off Manhattan and borough businesses and population. We, my fellow base building/supergroup-minded friends, just like the PvP Community, are stuck in the "Projects' of NYC, by comparison; an existing group of people, but one the overall community doesn't put focus on due to its invariable aspect of its continued existence.

We, like they, struggle everyday to make due with what they've got to get ahead. A small yet fair percentage of the 'Projects' population, through hard work and focused efforts, go on to incredible things (Julliard, Harvard, etc), just as some of our incredible base builders and Supergroup/Villaingroup leaders have made incredible bases and group-focused functionality. A rather unfortunate larger majority of our 'Projects' population though, continue to struggle in the existence that is our neighborhood, eaking out a living day to day, such as our base builders continue to do with existing base editing tools and the diminishing support for supergroups.

    But there is hope.

The base builder/supergroup community has, and continues, to be a voice in the NYC equivelant that is the COH community. The community continues to reasonably voice their needs of our "Projects"-like existence. Many want to ignore our community and/or plight because it doesn't relate to them, however, we have and continue to have a voice.

As such, like any representation in districts and boroughs and towns, we require one person in a level of exective power to focus our voiced comments and be heard through.

As it is, our devs have tried to place a peson in the position of "Bases/Supergroups" lead, and continue to pull that person to other projects and efforts, leaving us in the wind, as usual.

Although TheOcho has been gracious enough to identify the level of support he can give, and although our "base building/supergroup" community has stayed a consistant voice in the game, we need a focused dev in the spot to act as our representative; one that is not yanked to other efforts; one that has a voice; one that can effectually argue the needs of our community to a level that gets the action we have all so meticulously cataloged hundreds of times over.

I know the majority of the CoH Community recently cried for 'moar content!", and via War Witch and the devs efforts, received what they asked for. With Issue 22 and 23 planning possibly being started in the next few weeks (if not already), NOW would be a great time to get a level of representation necessary for the base builders/supergroup community. A dedicated dev.

War Witch, is this possible? Is this something that can be established and announced at this upcoming Meet & Greet, or must we wait until CoH2 Issue 6 to get the requested attention?

This community's well crafted and detailed lists and requests have been seemingly ignored...can we at LEAST get a dev that is aligned to 100% dedicated effort for our community to at least sort and voice these issues? Please??

    tl;dr version:

We need a dedicated and focused (i.e. not yanked to other tasks) Dev for the Base Building/Supergroup Community.

    NOW.

    ****************The Training Room**************

This room is available in multiple sizes, and can be fitted with a special base equipment type: Training equipment.
Initially, when reading this and several other related threads, I thought the same thing, "something new" is/has been needed.

I've been told I have an 'active imagination' and that I've been able to come up with some neat ideas in the past, however, with age and work & military-invoked pessimism, I've also learned to 'read the card player's tells' and make decisions with relative compromise at times. My 'read' on bases, in general, as related to our devs, is that without a collective (or even singular) driving developer behind it, bases shall continue to languish without new things. The devs will throw us a bone once in awhile, but not at high development time and expense. This seems to be their modus apperendi of late.

While I LOVE the idea of 'new' (and I agree with our point about the push of power customization), I think the compromise of utilizing existing system 'with a twist' is probably the best hope I personally see for bases at this point.

Aside from my pessimistic view, I do honestly subscribe to the desire for new and exciting features in the bases. Supergroups DESERVE to have unique functionality in bases as earned features. With tthe two suggestions I toosed out there, I figured, at minimal dev time & effort, they would promote more teaming, infuse mid to larger SGs/VGs with purpose, and establish a potential for invigorating PvP, AE and Arena utilization across the board.

    Target Dummy (dummy)
    Training Computer (Simulation Manager)
    Holographic Emitter (Training Aux)
    Training Databank (Training Aux)
In regards to the idea of 'new ' items made available for the bases to parallel your inputs on a training room idea, I agree to most of these features.

These titles display in grey rather than the standard blue or "super awesome yellow" to mark their status as custom training titles (no faking bug hunter folks!)
I'll agree that badges/titles would be a great way to identify those that use/utilize a Training/Danger Room, as such, though, I'd meld these two ideas together by making the badge name as an existing aux title/chosen badge name (on screen, located underneath the row with the character's name (which floats over his head)) title that already exists with badges; instead call the badge named something like: "Supergroup/Villaingroup Trained", "Supergroup/Villaingroup Expert Trainer", "Supergroup/Villaingroup Master Trainer" (just suggestions for the titles/badge names).

These "Edge" inspirations confer the effects of two small sized inspirations in a single inspiration slot and come in a wide array of flavors! (Examples - Lucky Break: Combined Breakfree and Luck, Instinct: Combined Insight and Enrage)
Interesting idea; maybe to round the idea to a simpler means; make a "wild card" Inspritation.

How many times have we been in a battle and we have 2 yellow inspirations in our personal Inspriation Inventory left and can't get a 3rd to craft a green inspriation when yo need it? Instead, if you use the training rooms, you can gain "SG/VG Inspirations" (3 tiered of course, relating to the three level of training as mentioned in your posts above) that acts as a wild card for ANY relative tiered inspiration.

If you have those two yellow inspirations and need that evasive third one to craft that one green inspiration to get you thorugh the final leg of the battle, if you have a properly tiered "SG/VG Inspiration", you can use it as a wildcard to draft that one green inspiration you need.

Regardless, I am truly all for new content/features and ideas. I think the ideas that are being discussed and collated are intrinsically valuable to getting what is desperately needed - attention to the bases and supergroups.

I'm happy to be in the company of positively-motivated like-minders. I dislike compromise or re-utilization as much as the next person, but after decades or 2x4s to the head over issues like this, I have grown a bit more compromising in certain aspects.

I simply wish our devs had the capacity to assign a solely-focused "Bases/Supergroups" dev to our plight without ganking him off to other unrelated taskings. This way, I believe much of all we are requesting would have a more prolific voice in the house of Paragon Studios, especially at their planning/idea meetings.

I'm not sure if this is what might be representative of what you are looking for, but I've posted a couple of ideas in the Suggestion Thread that might have some relevancy to what might be useful for us to use as content in the bases:

    Training (Danger) Room for Bases
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=242816

Add a Unique AE Interface for SG/VG Bases
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=242829

In regards to the cross-utilizaton of both AE and Arena to these two suggestions, although I am not a programmer, it seems easier to use existing game tech (due to the diminished focus on bases by devs) than create new content for said bases.

Using existing in-game mechanics and maybe tweaking what we have and applying it to the bases might be a stepping stone to get some activity back in the bases, and maybe a little more attention by the devs to our needs.

I know there are many more incredible suggestions and ideas out here in the forums in terms of ideas and suggestions for the bases, but maybe a bit of (what I deem) easier-to-make additional ("unique") functionality might help the base/SG/VG community.

For current simplicity, use the maps already available in arena.

Personally, I'd LOVE to have a tool to 'copy' the base itself into an instanced map to use in the training room, which if that tool was available for Arena/Training Room use, could (should) easily be utilized for AE map use as well. It would be a great way of emulating a PvE version of a base raid. But that's just me (or are there more out there that think this is a cool idea too?).

To dream a bit further, I'd love it also if the devs/programmers could figure out a way to use that same said 'copy' tool for a base instance and apply it to a PvP Base Raid in that instance, that way no base items get damaged, require to be replaced or make the base owner cry when all their hard work is seen undone, yet everyone gets the fun experience of a PvP base raid.

    But I digress.

Arena maps would be fine for the Training Room; they 'd be explained off as holographic (holodeck)-type environments (or spun-off from Doctor Aeon's AE tech) made in the confines of a large room, which doesn't necessarily need to be an actual base room at all (i.e., you don't have to use prestige to purchase an additional room to enact as a 'makeshift' Training Room; all you'd need is the Training Room Console base item in a Control Room, and as mentioned by Forbin, maybe use the Raid Teleporter to enter the console-selected instanced (arena) Training Room environment/map).

    6/26/09 - I15 Launch
    7/15/09 - I16 Overview
    9/16/09 - I16 Launch

Looking at that pattern, an Issue Launch seems to come almost exactly 2 months after an Issue Overview is posted.

Two months from 10/5 is 12/5, and that's a Sunday, so we need to add 2 days, since Launches seem to happen on Tuesdays.

Using that patten, my expected Launch Date for Issue 19 is December 7, 2010.
I didn't want to dash any Issue 19 launch day positive vibes with a post myself, but I came to the same conclusion this last weekend.

Didn't want to say much seeing as how it might be sad news for some, especially when what seems like many of us will be doing a LOT of respecing for the Fitness Pool inherents, which will probably be bleeding over into the Winter Event and Christmas break, pending our number of alts.

*crosses fingers, hopes I'm wrong, and Issue 19 comes out earlier*
